Surprise
He never expected to do this.
Sonic twisted a corner of the bag as he slowly walked down the road.
He never gave her a second thought before. Not like this
The red and white striped building came into view.
He always found her so annoying.
The steps creaked as the hedgehog approached the door.
She always got in the way.
A white glove touched the candy cane colored door.
Then why was he going to-?
"Sonic?" The door opened to show a green eye.
"Hi." The azure one nodded.
The door space widened to reveal a curious pink hedgehog. Her vision darted to the bag that stood out against his body. However she didn't acknowledge it verbally.
"What brings you here? Is there something wrong?" Her expression went to dread as the thought passed her mind. The bag crinkled as Sonic tried to calm down the distraught bubblegum she-hog.
" No, nothing like that."
Amy gave a sigh of relief before a skeptical expression covered her face.
"Then what?"
The male gulped and threaded his fingers through the plastic loop handles on the bag. When he realized the awkwardness of the moment he pulled his hands through and shoved the bag into Amy.
"Here," He mumbled, hoping that the contents of the bag could explain what he could not. Amy wasted little time in opening it. She gave a breath of excitement as she pulled out a bouquet of sunflowers and a card. The blue hedgehog could only rock back and forth on his heels as she read the card. The pink she-hog giggled before glancing back at the fidgety male.
"I should start getting ready." She said with a smile.
Sonic stood still as her reply washed over him. "You accept? You will?" His voice cracked with excitement. The female nodded before heading inside. A grin came across his face.
"And Sonic?" Amy looked back at the giddy male.
"Yes?"
"Tell Tails that I like the direct approach. I mean, I like you being a messenger and all, but I would like him to tell me himself that a rose for a Rose is tacky."
Sonic nodded. "I will. Hope you two have fun on your date."
