Murphy didn't dwell much on his life before he settled down with Teagan, and he especially didn't think much on some of the things he gave up when he left America. Conner had always been the planner and was always trying to figure out what to do next with his life but Murphy preferred to roll with the punches with whatever God, or his wife, threw at him. He and his brother were raised tough Irish, to be hard workers, to take care of their women and keep their faith. With no father around when he was growing up the house he just hoped he was doing something right with his own son.

And right now that was teaching him that when a bathroom door was closed, that meant whoever was inside did NOT want to be disturbed unless something was on fire. He actually thought he'd beaten Caden getting up in the morning, untangled himself from Teagan and went to use the facilities. He revelled in the peace and quiet he so rarely got until he saw something creeping under the door. He swore to the Almighty himself that he would have crapped his pants if they were not around his ankles when his son's fingers slithered underneath the bathroom door and began wiggling like tiny little tentacles.

Caden must have heard his father's reaction, "Daddy, can ya touch ma fingers?"

Murphy sighed and rubbed a hand over his face, "No Caden, I can't."

"Why not?"

Murphy leaned his head forward to rest on his hands with his elbows on his knees, "Cuz I'm too far away from the door."

The fingers disappeared and he heard shuffling on the other side of the door. A minute later the fingers appeared underneath again, "Can ya touch them now?"

Murphy groaned, "Nope."

"Why not?"

"Because I'm busy."

A pause, "Doin' what?"

Murphy threw his hands up in exasperation, "What do ya think I'm—where is yer ma?"

"Sleepin'." The lucky bitch. Murphy groaned and ground his eyes against his palms to try and wake up faster before muffling out, "Go and snuggle up with Ma, I'll be there in a few minutes."

"Kay!" He heard the little footsteps run down the hall and tried to finish. He finished up as quickly as he could to try and cushion the blow if Caden woke Teagan up and blamed it on him. To his pleasant surprise when he got back to their room Teagan was lazily running her fingers over Caden's back, having pulled his pajama shirt up. Her eyes were still closed and Caden had pressed himself so close to her he appeared to try and disappear in her. His mind flashed back briefly to the first few months of his son's life. The cradle they had ordered had arrived defective, one of the joints wasn't welded together properly and it wouldn't hold the weight of a baby without collapsing. He had declared it a death trap and two nights before Caden was born they had made a bonfire of it and roasted marshmallows. Before they could pick up another they'd already brought the baby home.

Noah had suggested putting him in a drawer or a laundry basket until they could get another crib and that worked for the first 30 minutes if not for the fact that Teagan kept getting up to check on Caden every few minutes. It was obvious neither of them would get the appropriate amount of sleep they'd need to deal with a newborn. She'd brought the baby into bed and put him between the two of them, snuggling him in the blankets and curling herself around him. When Caden was hungry he barely got a whimper out before Teagan scooped him up and breastfed him. She got so good at it that Murphy sometimes woke up to her nursing Caden with her head leaning back against the headboard with her eyes closed, appearing asleep. It scared the crap out of him for a moment and he feared she would drop the baby until Caden let go of her, full at the moment, and without missing a beat Teagan opened her eyes, adjusted her pajama shirt, and placed the baby back between them.

Teagan had gotten into the habit of sleeping without her pillow so she could rest her head right next Caden's tiny body, nudging her head between his head and shoulder and taking in his new baby smell. Caden's little head was turned toward his mother as well, fighting sleep from a full tummy, but still wanting to look at her. Teagan smiled as she felt Caden's toothless mouth open against her forehead and attempt to gnaw on her before he decided she didn't taste too good and fell asleep. Teagan closed her eyes after placing her hand on Caden's body to feel him breathing. Just as she was about to dose off she felt another hand brush over hers before it fully grasped it. Opening one eye she saw Murphy was still awake and had entwined their fingers together as they rested on their baby's tummy. In that moment she fell in love with him all over again.

Now in the present Murphy crawled into his side of the cot, watching his wife and son cuddle together. Teagan had her eyes closed as she continued to rub Caden's back until the boy tilted his head upward said, "Mammy, wake up now."

Teagan kept her eyes closed but raised her eyebrows as she replied, "Five more minutes, Caden." The boy lifted himself onto all fours before crawling over and top of Teagan's torso, making her turn onto her back to accommodate him, eyes still closed. Caden's head was right under her chin, which he proceeded to whisper into while patting her cheeks, "I love you like the ocean."

Caden had always said strange things like this, whether it was a quote he'd learned in Sunday school or a line from a movie. But this one had stuck with him for a long while now, probably because he knew that it would get the effect he wanted: his parents awake to see to his needs.

Teagan curled her arms underneath Caden's bottom, drawing him in tighter. The little boy moved himself so that his face was just above hers, his little hands resting on her cheeks. The boy had a way of curling into himself to make himself smaller than he really was in a way women found adorable. Teagan lifted her head up and opened her eyes, gazing down at Caden. "Okay, I'll get up."

"Good."

"Ya hungry?"

"Uh huh."

"Me too," she took Caden's hand off her cheek and put it into her mouth to gently bite down, causing Caden to shriek and laugh, trying unsuccessfully to get away. The sound roused Romeo and Connor nearby. Murphy sighed, the day had officially begun. "Alright, go get yer Uncle Connor up and I'll make some breakfast, we got a big day ahead of us" she rubbed her nose against her son's tiny one, kissing his cheek before he scrambled out of bed, yelling for his uncle and their comrade. Teagan groaned and sat up in the cot, stretching and yawning. She glared down at Murphy. "One of dese days, yer gonna get up at the crack a' dawn wit him and make him breakfast"

"Hey, it's not my fault he says dat cute stuff to ya and ya get up!" Murphy defended himself as his wife rolled her eyes, smiling. She bent down and kissed him softly.

"Good mornin' to ya, too" she ran her fingers through his hair before pressing another kiss to his forehead and getting out of bed. Murphy yawned as he watched his wife walk out of the room, hearing Connor's groans and Caden's high pitched giggles. Murphy sat up and looked behind him, laughing heartily as he watched his son bounce up and down on his brother's back roughly, chanting 'wakey, wakey, Uncle Connor!' over and over again. Connor cracked an eye open and pointed at his brother.

"Instead a' just watchin', how about ya get yer delightful little boy offa me?"

"Nooope" Murphy smirked standing up and pulling a shirt on "He's under strict instructions from his ma ta get ya up, by any means necessary, so I aint getting' involved"

Caden suddenly stopped bouncing and all three McManus boys turned in the direction of a groan from Romeo's cot.

"Jeez, that little leprechaun is loud in the mornings" he muttered, more to the wall he was facing than to anyone else. Caden looked at his uncle and father, frowning a little. The two brothers exchanged smirks before Murphy spoke.

"Ya know, Caden, mammy also said ya gotta wake Romeo up too!"

A quiet curse in Spanish was heard before Caden scrambled off his uncle and gave his new friend the same treatment.

Twenty minutes later, all four boys made their way to the bar area, where Doc was sitting, sipping a cup of coffee. Caden ran excitedly over to his grandpa, and clambered into his lap, and Teagan came out of the kitchen, carrying three cups of coffee and a sippy cup full of orange juice.

"Morning Connor, Romeo" she grinned, placing the cups on the table and chuckling at the glares she received in response. "Rough wake up call, was it?"

"What do you feed that kid?" Romeo groaned, cracking his back "I never realised kids were that…"

"Hyper? Yeah, isn't he a delight first ting in da mornin'? Poor old Uncle Connor gets dat wake up almost every day" Teagan chuckled and Connor glared at her.

"She does it on purpose cos she knows I cant be mad at him" he grumbled, before sitting down next to Romeo, grabbing his coffee. Murphy sat opposite his brother, grabbing the sugar and creamer to add to his coffee.

Teagan blew a kiss at her brother in law, before heading back out into the kitchen to finish cooking breakfast, returning ten minutes later balancing plates of eggs, bacon and pancakes in her arms, god bless waitressing.

Caden ate his breakfast in his grandfather's lap, after his mother had repeatedly told him he was not allowed to eat his meal on the table, and once Teagan had finished her small breakfast she took him to get showered and dressed, leaving the boys to clean up, much to their protests.

"What are we doin' today, mammy?" Caden asked as Teagan stripped him of his pajamas and placed him in the small shower cubicle in her father's bathroom.

"Arms up. We're goin' ta visit someone very special, love" she said, her stomach tightening at the thought of seeing Rocco's grave for the first time. "Someone who yer named after, and was mammy, daddy and Uncle Connor's best friend in da whole world"

"Where does he live, mammy?" Caden looked up at her with his big blue eyes as she carefully adjusted the shower head for his height. He jumped a little as the water started up, shivering whilst the temperature slowly rose. Teagan sighed softly, the subject of death wasn't something she and Murphy had really covered with their son.

"He's with de angels now, baby" she smiled, so he wouldn't be afraid of the thought of visiting someone who was no longer alive. "He…he got hurt a long time ago and de angels didn't like to see him hurting, so dey took him to live with dem, and now he's watchin' down on us, makin' sure we're happy and safe"

"Oh" Caden's face creased in thought, before nodding "Okay, mammy" he smiled and Teagan internally breathed out a sigh of relief. Parenting could be hard sometimes.

Once Caden was showered and dressed, Teagan began to get herself ready, trying to ignore the churning in her stomach. Her head turned to the door when she heard a soft knock.

"Yeah?"

"Ye alright, love?" Murphy entered the bathroom and shut the door behind him. Teagan nodded, finshing off brushing her teeth. "Caden's just told me everything you told him, about…about Rocco. I'm sorry I wasn't in here ta explain with it ya."

"It's alright, Murph, he seemed to understand it" she smiled as her husband wrapped his arms around her from behind, looking at them both in the mirror. He placed a kiss to her shoulder.

"Ye did a good job, babe, I'm proud of ye. I know how hard dis is gonna be on all of us, but-" he swallowed hard, remembering how hard Teagan took their best friend's death, "I'm here for ye"

"I know, I know" Teagan turned her face to kiss Murphy "Thank ye"

"Are ya done fuckin' in dere? Some of us need ta get ready, ya know!" Connor yelled through the door, pounding on it. Teagan and Murphy sighed.

"I'll let ye get ready, we hafta get goin' soon" Teagan said and Murphy nodded, squeezing her hand as she unlocked the door, folding her arms as Connor raised his fist to pound again on the door.

"Oh, hello, love" he grinned cheekily at his sister in law. "Ye look pretty"

"Fucker" she smiled, kissing his cheek before going off to find her son.

OOOOOO

The ride to the mausoleum was quiet, neither one of the adults in the car in a mood for talking. Caden had picked up on his family's uneasiness, and decided now was probably the best time to be a good boy. Teagan's stomach was churning, Rocco's death had shaken her to her very foundations, and she hadn't allowed herself to dwell on that awful night for a very, very long time. Murphy, who was sat in the back of Romeo's tin can with his wife and son, reached across Caden to squeeze Teagan's hand, and she tilted her face up to look at him, smiling softly.

"I'll be alright." She whispered, assuring him, as the car pulled up into the parking lot of Rocco's resting place. Romeo held back a few steps behind the Irish, as they headed through the door and slowly approached Rocco's slot in the wall. Teagan sighed heavily as she found his picture, picking up her son and holding him close. "Dere you go, baby, dat's yer Uncle Rocco." She said gently, pointing to her best friend's picture. Caden studied the picture quietly as his father and uncle bowed their heads in silence, Connor praying under his breath.

"What happened to him, mammy?" Caden whispered as he reached out and touched the picture gently. "Why is he with de angels now?"

Teagan chewed her lip for a moment, unsure of how to answer this in a way deemed appropriate for a three year old.

"A bad man hurt him, very, very badly, Caden, and remember what I said earlier? The angels didn't like to see him hurting so dey took him away."

"But how did he get hurt mammy?" Caden frowned in confusion. Teagan cleared her throat, tears welling in her eyes.

"I'll explain when yer older, baby" she whispered, kissing the side of his head. Romeo, seeing that Teagan was clearly struggling, took Caden from her.

"Come on, leprechaun, let's go get some ice cream from across the street" he said gently, Teagan nodding at him in thanks. Caden forgot all about his burning questions, happily letting Romeo take him out of the building. Once her son was gone, Teagan allowed a tear to slip down her cheek as she bowed her head, also quietly praying to herself.

Once Murphy had finished his quiet reflection, he crossed himself and opened his eyes, glancing at Rocco's picture once more. His brows knitted together as he stepped closer to the picture, something was familiar about it…

"Why did dey use his mug shot?" he asked quietly, making Connor and Teagan open their eyes, and come closer to the picture themselves, Teagan weaving herself into the middle of the boys.

"What? No." Connor said, almost in disbelief.

"Yer crazy Murph, dey wouldn't use a mugshot for dis…" Teagan said, her eyebrow raising at her husband.

"Yeah, you remember when he said he was all embarrassed, because dat fella had ta hold us all his long hair behind his head?"

"Aye" Connor and Teagan said slowly, still studying the picture intently. Murphy moved in as close as his possibly could, running his finger along a strange blob behind Rocco's head.

"Dat's an arm…" he said slowly, Connor looking at his brother before bursting out into fits of giggles. Teagan couldn't help it, she quickly followed suit, the tears of sadness turning into tears of laughter. She sniffed and wiped her eyes, placing her fingers to her lips and then pressing it against Rocco's picture.

"We miss ya Roc." She smiled, as the boys put their arms around her.

Outside, as Romeo watched Caden in the back seat of his car, happily slurping away on an ice cream cone, his cell phone began to ring.

"Que pasa?" he answered quickly, looking around to see if anyone was watching.

"I got the info you wanted, mijo" Romeo's uncle was on the other end of the line. "The place is called Tando's Tanning Salon on Bunker Hill. That's where the fucking güero gets his fake bake at"

"We're on it" Romeo nodded, hanging up the phone as his new friends left the mausoleum. "We found him."
