The Wizengamot

Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, Order of Merlin, First Class, Grand Sorcerer, Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot, Supreme Mugwamp of the International Confederation of Wizards and Leader of the Light, was sat upon his throne-like chair overlooking the entire wizengamot, surveying the mindless sheep as they filed into the chamber.

'These idiots are so much easier to handle than those annoying rebellious brats at Hogwarts…' thought Dumbledore, eyes twinkling as he waited for everyone to be seated. Little did he know that just outside were two such 'brats' ready to make his day miserable.

"Oh Harry I'm so nervous. What if this doesn't work?"

"Relax Hermione… it'll all be fine. Dumbledore will open the session then Lady Dowager Longbottom will introduce us to the Wizengamot, we take our seats, have a little power play and then we deal the final blow. Nothing can go wrong."

"Okay, I think I'm ready."

Dumbledore set of two loud bangs from his wand causing quiet to fall over the Wizengamot Chambers.

"Welcome Lords and Ladies to the One Thousand Two Hundred and Third session of the Wizengamot. Before we move on to discussing any new legistation, Lady Dowager Longbottom are there any new members to induct at this time?" said Dumbledore opening the meeting.

"Yes we do Chief Warlock Dumbledore. Two in fact." She stated trying to keep the amusement out of her voice at the shock that flashed across Dumbledore's face.

'How can this be? Two seats are extinct, House Weasley is still under control of House Black, Sirius Black is a wanted felon, Potter is blissfully unaware of his heritage, Fudge hasn't promoted anyone and no one else is missing.' He thought franticly, he hated things happening when he wasn't pulling the strings.

"Very well, show in the first." He ordered, hoping he could control the situation.

The Chamber doors swung open and in walked Hermione head held high hiding the nerves that were threating to take over.

"I must object!" bellowed Dumbledore, standing. "Miss Granger is not a Department Head and as a Muggleborn does not have claim to any hereditary seats."

"Sit down Chief Warlock Dumbledore." Chastised Lady Longbottom. "House Longbottom has been charged with the duty of inducting new members since the founding of this court and I will have no one, not even you, interrupting."

"I apologise Lady Dowager Longbottom, I forgot myself." Replied Dumbledore retaking his seat, ignoring the glares he was receiving from the members of the founding families for disrespecting their traditions.

"Ensure it doesn't happen again. Now, Miss Granger, please step up to the pillar and place your hand on the Orb of Ascendance."

With a nod Hermione walked calmly up to the Orb and gently placed her hand on it. The tension in the room as palpable as they waited for something to happen, after what seemed like an eternity, but was in fact a few seconds, a large lime green shield containing a silver sphinx flashed above her head before shrinking and settling onto the left breast of her robes.

"I welcome you Hermione Jean Granger of House Dagworth to the Wizengamot. You may now take your seat among this august body." She concluded indicating to the empty seat between Lady Bones and Lord Davis.

Once Hermione was seated Lady Longbottom spoke again. "Show in the second."

This time the chamber doors swung open with a bang and Harry sauntered in a small smirk gracing his face.

For a moment Dumbledore looked like he was going to kick up a fuss but a glare from Lady Longbottom stopped him in his tracks.

"Now, Mr Potter, please step up to the pillar and place your hand on the Orb of Ascendance."

Mirroring Hermione, Harry calmly walked up to the Orb and placed his hand on it. This time the only tension in the room was coming from Dumbledore as it was common knowledge that Harry was the last member of House Potter so of course they knew what was going to happen. Suddenly the Potter family crest flashed into existence above his head and the chamber filled with polite applause which was quickly replaced to surprised murmurs as the Evans, Black, Hufflepuff and Perverell family crests appeared next to it. The noise in the chambers built again when two more crests joined the bunch, this time Slytherin and Gryffindor, followed quickly by the shields of Houses Ravenclaw and le Fay.

Suddenly silence fell as the shield of House Emrys appeared before they all shrunk and settled on his robes as they did Hermione's before. Just as Lady Longbottom was about to speak a blinding flash of magic filled the room as a new section of the chambers, elevated above the rest of the room, came into view.

After a few moments Lady Longbottom spoke "I welcome you Harry James Potter of Houses Emrys, le Fay, Peverell, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Slytherin, Black, Evans and Potter to the Wizengamot. You may now take your seat among this august body." indicating to the recently revealed section of the High Council, a small smirk pulling at her lips.

As Harry made his way up to the High Council gallery we turned to look at the public viewing box spotting the reporters frantically taking notes, buzzing with excitement.

'Hold tight, the show has just begun.'

Once Harry took his seat Dumbledore stood, letting out his aura slightly, attempting to gain control of the situation "Now that we have welcomed our newest members to this august body shall we move onto new legislation. Does anyone have any new bills they wish to introduce?" He asked. Almost immediately a light shone onto the seat for House Dagworth, causing Dumbledore's expression to darken, however this went unnoticed to most of the chamber as the quiet nattering of intrigue started up again. "The Chair recognises Lady Dagworth."

"Thank you Chief Warlock Dumbledore." She said with a polite nod. "Today I would like to petition the creation of the Werewolf Welfare Bill to replace the Werewolf Restriction Bill of 2007." She started, raising her voice slightly as noise started to build at her declaration.

"Quiet!" Dumbledore declared "Lady Dagworth has the floor and we shall here her out." He finished hiding his displeasure.

"Thank you again Chief Warlock Dumbledore. Now Under this new law lycanthropy will be officially classified as a disease and werewolves no longer classified as anything other than a magical being suffering a long term illness. It shall be illegal to discriminate against these beings based on their condition; employers must give them a fair chance of employment. To further facilitate the wellbeing of these beings The Ministry shall set up a Wolfsbane Benefit Fund, which House Black has kindly agreed to fund for the first twelve months, to supply werewolves with the potion until they are able to support themselves. A sanctuary shall also be set up in a forest, on land which House Evans has kindly agreed to donate, for werewolves to roam on the night of the full moon if they so please. Thank you all for listening to my petition I now open the floor to questions." Hermione finished taking a seat.

Instantly noise of outrage broke out all over the chamber as majority of the wizengamot voiced their objection, however there was a small high pitched sound that managed to break through the noise.

"Hem-hem." The noise came from an ugly toad like woman in hideous pink robes.

"The chair recognises The Honourable Dolorus Umbridge." Dumbledore sighed, failing to hide his dislike for the irritating woman.

"Thank you Chief Warlock Dumbledore. Now little girl what do you propose The Ministry shall do if an upstanding citizen be attacked by one of the half-breeds?" she asked in a sickly sweet and condescending tone.

"First I shall remind you to address me as Lady Dagworth." Hermione said coldly, sending a glare at the woman "As for your question, foul language aside, a werewolf that is believed to have attacked anyone shall be treated like any other suspect, brought in for questioning and put to trial after a thorough investigation has been conducted. Likewise anyone believed of attacking a werewolf without just cause shall face the same treatment." Hermione answered to silence "As there appears to be no more questions I call for a vote." She finished

"Second" called Lord Abbot

"A call for a vote has been made and seconded, we shall now vote." Declared Dumbledore. "All those in favour." Only four wands lit up. "All those against." This time a lot more wand were lit.

"Okay that was thirty-six votes in favour, thirty-four against and three abstained. The bill has not passed failing to obtain the thirty-seven votes required." announced Dumbledore, secretly relieved.

"The High Council would like vote to overturn that decision." Called Harry standing.

"Lord Potter that is not within your power." Returned Dumbledore, a hint over anger showing as he flared his aura once again.

"Actually Chief Warlock you shall find it is." Stated Lord Abbot.

"Thank you Lord Abbot." Said Harry with a nod "The High Council shall now vote. All in favour?" Harry lit his wand "All against?" he held a pause "Now that is seven votes in favour, zero against and none abstained. The bill passes by unanimous vote from the High Council."

The orb in the centre of the room lit up the room with a flash of magic signifying the acceptance of the new law. Once again murmurs broke out among members of the chamber and the reporters were writing with a new fervour. Unnoticed to everyone but Hermione Harry took out a small leather bound book and wrote something before placing it open in front of him.

"Does anybody else have any new legislation they'd like to present?" asked Dumbledore automatically, not expecting anything else when a light shone upon the High Council balcony. "The Chair recognises Lord Potter." He ground out, trying not to growl.

"Thank you Chief Warlock Dumbledore." Harry said, with a smirk. "I would like to petition the creation of the Counter-Terrorism Bill."

This time the chamber remained silent and a few members grew incredibly pale.

"Under this Bill no willing member, previous or current, of a terrorist organisation, as defined by their acts of violence against the nation, may hold a seat on the Wizengamot. Any Hereditary seats shall go to the next in line any elected positions shall go to by-election and any members of The Ministry shall be replaced internally. Any questions?"

The only noise that could be heard was the scratching of quills from the public viewing box.

"No? Okay then I call for a vote."

"Second."

"Second."

The voices of Hermione and Madam Bones rang out simultaneously.

"A call for a vote has been made and seconded, we shall now vote." Declared Dumbledore, once again. "All those in favour." Many more wands lit up this time. "All those against." Only eight wands lit up.

"We have forty-nine votes in favour, nine against and fifteen abstained. The bill has been passed." announced Dumbledore.

Once again the orb in the centre of the room lit up the room, however this time seven tendrils of magic shot out and connected to seven members of the Wizengamot and began draining their magic. Thaddeus Nott, Lucius Malfoy, Amycus Carrow, Walden Mcnair, Caelius Avery, Adrian Crabbe and Thomas Goyle all began twitching as they slowly lost their power before suddenly slumping forwards in their seats when the tendrils receded.

"May I suggest, Lady Bones, that some of your Aurors place these men in holding cells to be questioned later?" said Harry, shaking Madam Bones from her stupor.

Madam Bones quickly sent of a Patronus message and started binding the seven Death Eaters. Once they were all bound the doors to the chamber burst open allowing a troop of Aurors to enter.

"You requested assistance Madam Bones?" asked one of the Aurors

"Yes Senior Auror Shakelbolt, please take these men to the holding cells and keep them under guard. That is all."

The Aurors made quick work of removing the bound Death Eaters from the Wizengmot chamber. As soon as the Aurors had left the muttering broke out once again and Harry wrote a single word in the leather bound tome in front of him.

NOW!

Before the people in the chamber could settle the doors suddenly slammed open and Ragnok followed by six armed goblin guards entered the chamber.

"What is the meaning of this?!" shouted Dumbledore, angry at having completely lost control of the meeting.

"Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, you are under arrest for theft from an Ancient and Noble House, dangerously binding the magic of a minor from an Ancient and Noble House and attempted Line Theft. You are to be tried and prosecuted by the goblin nation. Guards seize him!" announced Ragnok, enjoying taking down one of the most respected wizards of the age.

Before he could even react to what was happening a goblin had grabbed his wrists from behind his back and placed them in magic supressing cuffs while two more began frisking him for any possessions on his person.

"Fawkes!" Dumbledore called, in a last ditch effort to escape.

The phoenix burst into existence, in a ball of flame, and flew around the room before settling on Harry's shoulder, sending a sad look towards Dumbledore leaving him in shock, allowing the goblins to easily escort him from the chamber.

Meanwhile…

Just outside the small town of Ottery St. Catchpole two teams of goblins were assembled waiting to enter the residence of the Weasley family, The Burrow.

"When we receive the signal we go in, Team Alpha you knock out one Arthur Weasley and get him into St Mungo's. Team Beta your target is Molly Prewett, subdue her and bring her into custody." Griphook ordered.

Just as he had finished they received their signal and moved in towards the property. Both teams burst through the door and entered the kitchen where they found both of their targets. Arthur was sitting at the table reading the Prophet while Molly was at the bench preparing lunch, both looked around startled at the noise and the appearance of a group of goblins entering their house.

Before they were given a chance to react further a goblin sent a pulse of magic towards Arthur knocking him out instantly. As he slumped onto the table four goblins surrounded him and portkeyed out from the residence.

"WHERE HAVE YOU TAKEN MY HUSDAND?!" shrieked Ms Prewett

"Quiet you harpy!" came the sharp reply of Griphook. "Molly Prewett, you are under arrest for theft from an Ancient and Noble House, Use of mind altering potions on a member of an Ancient and Noble House, Line Theft and attempted Line Theft. You are to be tried and prosecuted by the goblin nation." He continued as the remaining goblins took action binding her in cuffs and removing any possessions from her person before portkeying to the dungeons on Gringotts, leaving The Burrow in eerie silence.

Back at The Ministry the wizengamot chamber was in absolute chaos. Everyone was shouting out unsure of hat had just happened, the reporters were a frantic mess as they tried to get everything down, Harry could have sworn he saw smoke rising from a few pads as they wrote.

Eventually Harry decided, after a pointed look from Hermione, to take control and try gain some semblance of order. Letting off a loud bang from his wand the chamber fell into silence all eyes on him as he fought the smirk that wanted to grace his face due to a well-executed plan.

"Yes we have just lost our Chief Warlock, and yes there is nothing we can do about it at this time but that does not mean we can lose our heads. I suggest we quickly select a new Chief Warlock and continue with this meeting so we can continue to serve the British Wizarding Community to the best of our ability." Harry spoke clearly to the room, receiving a murmur of consensus from the chamber. "Any nominations?"

"Hem-Hem" stood the ugly toad woman "I nominate The Minister, Cornelius Fudge"

"Minister Fudge do you accept this nomination?"

"Yes I do."

"Good. Do we have any more nominations?"

"Yes, I would like to nominate Lord Greengrass." Said Lord Davis with a nod.

"Lord Greengrass do you accept this nomination?"

"Yes I do."

"Okay. Any more nominations?" Harry asked for a second time, receiving no reply from the chamber. "Right. All those in favour of Minister Fudge becoming Chief Warlock." Twenty wands lit up in response "All in favour of Lord Greengrass." Seven wands lit up in reply.

"Congratulations Lord Greengrass you are the new Chief Warlock."

"Hem-Hem Mr Potter I believe you counted wrong, I saw twenty wands for Minister Fudge but only seven for Lord Greengrass here."

"First it's Lord Potter to you Madam and secondly it appears you are woefully under educated as to not know that members of the Founding Families and the High Council have greater weight attributed to their votes. I suggest you rectify your knowledge of this august body before the next meeting or give up your seat, as to not make a fool of yourself in future." Harry verbally slapped her down.

"Please take your position as Chief Warlock, Lord Greengrass, so we may continue this meeting." Harry finished.

"Thank you Lord Potter. Where were we? Oh yes, is there any new legislation anyone would like to present?" He asked the room, receiving no reply. "Moving on then, is there anything that needs to be brought to the attention of The Wizengmot?" he asked, his eyebrows raising as Harry stood. "The Chair recognises Lord Potter."

"I would like to bring to the attention of the Wizengmot a grave injustice. One Sirius Orion Black member of the Ancient and Noble House of Black was imprisoned without a trial, because of this I would like to request that the Kiss on sight order be revoked so he can be brought in and receive a proper trial." Said Harry, glad no one had decided to interrupt him.

"The Chair recongnises Lady Bones."

"Thank you Chief Warlock Greengrass."

"If what Lord Potter says is in fact true then I agree the Kiss on sight order needs to be dropped. Would the Wizengamot agree to me sending an Auror to look for the court transcripts to confirm these allegations while we continue our meeting while we wait?" suggested Madam Bones.

"That would be agreeable." Said Lord Greengrass, prompting Madam Bones to send off a Patronus. "Now while we wait is there anything else that needs bringing to our attention?"

Once again whispers broke out in the chamber as this time Hermione stood.

"The chair recognises Lady Dagworth." Said Lord Greengrass, his interest peeking. This was turning out to be a very interesting session.

"Thank you Chief Warlock Greengrass. It has come to my attention, during my studies into my new position amongst the Wizarding Community, that Minister Fudge has been abusing his power and placing friends and allies into seats for elected members since the end of the last war. I call for a vote of no confidence and an official investigation into his tenure as Minister." Hermione spoke, clearly noticing Fudge pale and begin to sweat.

"Second!" called Harry before anyone could begin to argue.

"A move to vote has been made and seconded…" started Lord Greengrass when there was a knock before the door opened. Fudge breathing a sigh of relief hoping his misdeeds would be forgotten due to the interruption.

"Excuse me but Madam Bones sent me to find the files on Sirius Black's trial." Spoke the nervous you Auror.

"And what did you find?" asked Madam Bones

"Nothing" came the reply.

"Excuse me?"

"There was nothing, no arrest record, no trial, nothing." He elaborated.

Outrage came from the members of the Founding Families at the announcement, while the reporters were eating it up.

"Then as the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement I overturn the Kiss on Sight order and will be asking Sirius Black to hand himself over for questioning to help in our investigation." Announced Madam Bones leaving no room for argument.

"Very well." Said Lord Greengrass "Thank you, you may go." He addressed the young Auror. "Back to the vote of no confidence regarding Minister Fudge, all in favour." Harry along with all bar one of the Founding Families lit their wands, "all against." Nineteen wands lit up. "The vote of no confidence regarding Minister Fudge has passed with forty-five votes for, twenty votes against and two abstained. Cornelius Fudge you are hereby stripped of your position as The Minister of Magic and an investigation of your tenure shall be conducted."

"Y-you can't do this!" cried the ex-Minister.

"You shall find we can and have. An election shall be called in the next few days for the position of Minister of Magic and for eighteen seats of the Wizengamot. As custom dictates I being The Chief Warlock shall sit as interim Minister until a new Minister has been elected. Is there any more business to discuss?"

No one moved to make any response, most reeling at everything that had happened.

"Good. I officially bring the One Thousand Two Hundred and Third session of the Wizengamot to a close." Lord Greengrass concluded prompting everyone to exit the chambers.

Harry and Hermione landed just outside Ragnok's office in a ball of flame, Harry having decided he wanted to look into something after the Wizengamot session. With a knock on the door and receiving permission to enter they walked in.

"Good evening Lord Potter and Lady Dagworth, I was wondering when I'd see you two next." He said looking up from his desk "Have fun today with the Wizengamot?" a smirk gracing his face.

"Yes, I especially liked your performance." Replied Harry "Speaking of which, where is he now? And did you manage to get hold of Prewett?"

"Both are in holding cells while we look into any further crimes the two have committed to ensure we don't break any treaties."

"Good. Now I was wondering if I could look into the marriage contract of Lucius Malfoy and Narcissia Malfoy née Black, I have a feeling it could be useful." Harry said causing Ragnok's smirk to widen.

"I thought you might after seeing Mr Malfoy being removed from the chamber bound and under Auror escort before we entered." Replied Ragnok hanging over a stack of parchment.

Harry quickly skipped to the termination clauses and found what he was looking for. Bringing his wand to his chest he spoke clearly.

"I Harry James Potter Lord of The Noble and Most Ancient House of Black do hereby dissolve the marriage of Narcissia Black and Lucius Malfoy before the eyes of Mother Magic due to breach of contract claiming the agreed compensation of the deeds to Malfoy Manor. So mote it be."

"Good now what do you want to do with Ms Black?"

"Hmm I shall allow her to remain a member of House Black as long as she pledges loyalty to House Black." Answered Harry.

"Very well I shall send her a letter informing her of her status change and also send a team of goblins to remove any Malfoy Family heirlooms from your newly acquired estate. Will you allow her to maintain residence?"

"Yes, again provided she pledges her loyalty."

"Very well. Is that all?"

"Yes. Good Evening Ragnok." said Harry standing.

"Good Evening." With that Harry and Hermione took their leave.

As soon as Harry made his way to his room in the Gryffindor Dormitory he flopped onto his bed and fell asleep, instantly.

It had been a long day.
