"EGGMAN!" Amy yelled in rage as she and Rouge busted through a legion of badniks and war mechs. The badniks were easy pickings, and with Sonic and everyone with him, Robotnik's mightiest forces folded like tissue paper. His tower lair, the seat of his power, lay defenseless and ruined.

Shadow, with a wave of his hand, launched a Chaos Spear at the door. It took some cajoling from Sonic and Amy to come with them, but eventually he gave in.

He sighed and rolled his eyes, obviously not exactly thrilled at being dragged into this. "You owe me for this, Sonic."

Sonic grinned, "Heh heh..."

Shadow turned around and then walked away.

"Where are you going?" said Knuckles.

"I've done my part here," Shadow grunted.

"Shadow, wait-" Amy reached out the him.

"Just forget about him, we got a Master Emerald to get back," Sonic pulled her away.

The heroes entered an enormous darkened circular chamber, ready for an ambush at any moment. Then the lights flashed on with the familiar sound of machinery whirring to life.

"EHEHEHEHEH! Snooping as usual, I see!" Eggman chortled from a glass booth high above, "If it isn't the blue rat and his furry little friends."

"Eggman! Where's my Master Emerald? Hand it over right now, and I'll consider not hurting you too badly!" Knuckles challenged the doctor.

Eggman did nothing but laugh as his robots struggled to carry the large green emerald behind him. "Oh, it's not in any harm. I can't say the same for you though. You and your little friends are just in time to test out my latest creation!"

Decoe and Becoe fitted the large green gem into the machine behind the doctor and started connecting all manner of wires and tubes to it.

"Where's Tails?" Sonic pointed.

"The fox boy?" The mad doctor stroked his mustache, "Hmm yes, I think recognize that name."

Sonic gritted his teeth in annoyance and anger. "Enough with the games Eggface!"

"Very well. While I'm not entirely sure how, it seems your foxy friend somehow managed to create Chaos Control using the power of the Chaos Emeralds," he explained, "Unfortunately, from my calculations, it seems that they went somewhere... not of this world, you could say."

Sonic didn't have time for this. "Where is he?"

"Oh don't worry Sonic. You'll be seeing him soon. Very soon, in fact. Because with the power of my new Eggporter, you'll be taking a one-way trip there! And without your meddling antics, this world will finally be mine, and the Eggman Empire shall rule! OHOHOHOHO!"

"Have a nice trip, suckers!" Bokkun waved through the window and grinned.

"Decoe, Becoe, prepare the firing sequence!" He barked at his minions, "Sayonara, Sonic the Hedgehog."

The blast doors behind the heroes slammed shut. Knuckles tried a flying punch on them to no avail. Even a homing attack from Sonic simply bounced off the door harmlessly.

Sonic had to think fast. Then he spotted several large metal power conductors on the ceiling circling the teleporter mechanism. The hedgehog had been fighting Eggman long enough to recognize poorly defended weak spots.

Zipping up the wall, Sonic made a flying leap and gave a mighty kick to one of the power conductors. It crumpled and crashed to the floor in a pile of scrap, electricity still sparking from the rubble. He did the same to the others, leaving the machines into smoking wrecks.

Knuckles grinned as Sonic landed to the floor, "That should slow him down."

"Doctor, the power dampeners have been damaged and are overloading!" Decoe cried.

"We must get out of here Doctor!" Becoe begged his master to no avail.

The fat scientist knew exactly what that meant. Without those power dampeners, there was nothing left to absorb the Chaos Control burst from the Eggporter.

Sonic smiled and wagged his finger at the glass booth. "Sorry Egghead, but I wouldn't have to break your toys if you played nice."

Eggman gritted his teeth and slammed his hand against the glass window.

YOU FOOL! Do you even realize what you've done? Without those power dampeners-"

Eggman's yell was cut off by a mighty explosion that blew Sonic and his friends everywhere across the portal chamber. Alarms blared and the entire chamber began to violently shake.

Sonic knew exactly what was happening, and so did his friends still unharmed enough to tell. A great column of light shrouded the Master Emerald, quickly enveloped a yelling Eggman and his robotic servants before reaching the heroes.

He felt his friends slip away into the light one by one. Now the only thing he could do is wait and see where the Master Emerald's power would send them.

Far away from Eggman's fortress, Shadow ditched the party. He had no need or desire to join that idiotic blue hedgehog's antics. He just wanted to go and reminisce. His musing was distracted when he sensed a massive burst of raw chaos energy, so strong that it caused his head to immediately start ringing. Then the trees and plants around him became bathed in light.

A massive white dome started expanding from the horizon, far faster than even he could run. Shadow barely had time to comprehend it before the light devoured him and the world around him.
