Hiccup woke up feeling odd. He felt that something was different. He slowly opened his eyes and looked around. His drawings and blueprints were on his walls, his desk was still littered with papers, there was a dark dragon lying by his open window, his bed was still in the middle of the room - wait!

On seeing Toothless, Hiccup suddenly remembered everything. A future version of him and his "friends" were in his time. The future version of him was so cool. He was missing a leg, his outfit had changed dramatically, he could control dragons and was a leader to the other teens. Hiccup could also tell that the future version of him was more confident. He stood straighter whenever his father came into the room. He spoke louder and when he issue his orders he knew that they would be followed without complaint.

And he's dating Astrid. Now that was a shocker. When he saw the future version of himself kiss the future version of his old crush made his heart soar. And the fact that the future version of Snotlout seemed to accept this. It actually looked like the future version of Snotlout had moved on Ruffnut, or was planning to.

Across the room, Toothless woke up, quickly remembered that the legends were true and that he was the Dragon in the story. He quickly turned to look at his human and saw that his human was already awake, just not moving from his bed.

"Hiccup!" yelled Stoick up the stairs to Hiccup's room and Hiccup finally moved. He groaned, wiped a hand across his face and moved up from his lying position. He moved his blankets from his body and grabbed his boots, which he had left lying at the bottom of his bed. He slipped them on and stood up, grabbing his brown jacket and put it on.

"Coming Dad!" yelled Hiccup as he started to walk towards the door. Just as he reached the door, he turned back to Toothless.

"You coming?" he asked. Toothless released his ultimate weapon, his gummy smile, and began to follow Hiccup downstairs.

Hiccup walked onto the ground floor to see his future self and his future self's dragon and his dad sitting at the table, having breakfast.

"Good morning" he said to the three of them as he sat down and began to have his own breakfast of porridge. He poured some honey onto it and started to eat.

"Any of you doing anything today?" asked Stoick, staring at his sons.

"I have work" said Hiccup.

"I'm going to fly, I need some air" said HICCUP with a smile on his face.

It went back to an awkward silence.

"Where are the others?" asked Hiccup, realising that it was only the Haddocks there.

"They went to the Dragon Arena and started to work with their dragons" said HICCUP, "they feel that I shouldn't be there this time."

"Why?" asked Stoick.

"Because in this time, I'm not really accepted so Astrid suggested I let myself go for a while, just take this adventure as an excuse to relax for the first time in a while" shrugged HICCUP as he finished his breakfast, carried his bowl to the water tub and left, taking TOOTHLESS with him.

"You really do change, some of it isn't for the best" said Stoick.

"Why is some of it bad?" asked Hiccup.

"It shows that you are growing up, and even though I was never there in the first place, you might not need your father or Gobber soon" said Stoick, and he looked at his bowl.

"What makes you think that?" asked Hiccup.

"You didn't take honey with your breakfast" said Stoick, "and that was something your mother used to do."

"What did he put in instead?" asked Hiccup.

"Nothing, he left it bland" said Stoick.

"Like what you do, you mean?" asked Hiccup and Stoick's eyes brightened when he thought it through.

"Yeah, just like me" and Stoick stood, put his bowl in bucket and headed off to his duties.

ASTRID stood with her hands on his hips watching the twins fight over who gets what head. Again.

"Guys, this is the same dragon from our time. Just take the heads you had before" suggest FISHLEGS from his spot beside Meatlug, who was enjoying getting her belly rubbed.

"But what if we want a change?" asked RUFFNUT.

"Well I don't want a change if you want a change" said TUFFNUT and he pushed his sister.

"I don't want a change then" said RUFFNUT, crossing her arms.

"Great, it's settled, you keep the same heads" said SNOTLOUT with false cheer in his voice.

"Yeah" cheered the twins and they grabbed Barf and Belch into a cuddle.

"Okay, so that is the bonding done. Now, flying, if I recall correctly" said ASTRID, counting down on her fingers.

"Yeah, I haven't been flying in forever" yelled SNOTLOUT.

"Remember, we can't do tricks though, because our dragons won't be used to it" said ASTRID as she climbed on top of Stormfly. The other riders did the same thing.

"Five, four, three, two, one GO!" yelled ASTRID and the four dragons ran out of the arena into freedom. The sky.

"Okay, keep steady, keep calm and race" said ASTRID and the dragons began to flap their wings faster and the wind started to blow through the time travellers hair.

"Hello there milady" said a cheery voice and ASTRID turned to see her Hiccup flying beside her.

"Hey, aren't you meant to be relaxing, you know staying in bed" said ASTRID with a smile.

"Staying in bed sounds dull, now, flying with Toothless is much better. Being in the sky feels free" and Hiccup closed his eyes just to feel the wind hitting his face.

"Okay, well have fun" said ASTRID. HICCUP opened his eyes and looked at her.

"Oh, I am" and he unbuckled himself from the saddle and threw himself off. Stormfly, Hookfang, Barf, Belch and Meatlug stared wideeyed as HICCUP fell and TOOTHLESS started to chase him down until both were falling through the air. The dragons turned to face their new riders with an eager expression.

"No, they have been doing that for years and ..." and whatever ASTRID was about to say was interrupted by another yell as they saw Hiccup and Toothless from the past falling a few metres away. Stormfly gave ASTRID a look.

"No, I swear Hiccup is a dragon half the time."
