He was sick of waiting. He missed HER. He missed her smell, hair, taste and those scared eyes of hers the most. She said she needed time and he gave her that time. Two years to be exact, but now he was sick of waiting. Ryan managed to find her address in the CIA registration. It turned out she was living with a group of people in three apartments connected to each other. She had her own of course, she preferred it that way. The regristration said she had a little girl living with her. Had she moved on since then?

He pulled up outside the apartments with his car and briefly checked himself over in the mirror.

What if she didn't recognize him?

He'd changed. Not physically though.

What if she hated him?

She said before she didn't.

What if she didn't want to see him?

What if she had moved on with someone else?

He could leave but not without being heartbroken.

Shaking his head he realized that those questions were stupid and if she had lived with a kid it was for a reason.

Ryan got out of the car and climbed the well crafted stairs to knock on the door to the first apartment. No one was home. He went to the second and a man opened the door.

"Can I help you?" he asked.

"I'm looking for someone" Ryan passed her photo.

"Jodie? What do you want with her?" The man asked.

"Old friend. We used to work together before she left, I need to talk to her. It's urgent"

"She's out with Zoey" The man gruffed. "You can stay here until they get back"

He went inside following the man and looked around. It wasn't much, but it felt...right.

"Old friend, huh? Jodie never mentioned having friends,"

"We departed on bad terms I'd like to fix that" He answered.

He saw a picture of her with a little girl sitting in her lap with Jodie's arms around her. "She's different. More happy," He commented.

"Ever since Tuesday died a few years ago, she's takin' care of that girl." The man responded.

"Alone?"

"Doesn't do social life much, sometimes sings and plays the guitar that's all" The man responded. "Doesn't want a boyfriend, says she is making a choice on this guy but can't say yes 'cause he may have moved on"

They didn't hear the door open. "Hey, I'm home" He heard her sweet voice once more. "You won't believe it but I managed to find a-...Ryan" She placed down the food bags in shock on a ragged kitchen table. A little girl jumped around skipping everywhere in the room

"Hi Jodie" He said awkwardly grabbing the back of his neck.

The silence was unbearable. The man that let Ryan in grabbed Zoey and ran into the hallway outside.

"I...You...you look good...uh, been working out?" She asked.

"Jodie" He almost groaned in frustration.

"What are you doing here?" She questioned.

"I got sick of waiting" He said hands in pockets acting casual.

"So you moved on?" She said it in a way that was almost accusingly.

"I just wanted to see you"

"That doesn't answer my-"

"No!" He answered.

"No, what? You won't answer a simple question!" She snapped only to be interrupted.

"No, I meant no I hadn't moved on." He said. "And what I don't get a proper hello?"

She half-smiled. "Hi Ryan"

"Better" He said.

He did what he'd been waiting to do every day for five years after she left. He cupped her face and kissed her.
