A/N: Final Reboot to this story. This is a whole new prologue that will help the story make more sense as it unfolds.

The future, 2020:

High above the Earth in an enormous space station a group of heroes stare in shock at the scene unfolding before their eyes. Looking upon a monitor they have all just witnessed a devastating battle between the Man of Steel and Lex Luthor. No one knows what to say or what to think. The end of this battle ensured that it would be the last between the two enemies as Superman used his heat vision to sever Luthor's head. The look in Superman's eyes as he fought Luthor for the last time was one that stood out for one of the heroes present. The look was easy to read. It was an expression of a man who had lost everything and had nothing else to lose. Finally, one of them spoke. "This is what Jor-El warned Clark about all those years ago". "What do you mean Queen", asked Batman. A female voice however answered the Dark Knight as she knew more about their present situation. "Clark had recently suffered from a loss while we were still in high school. He told me he was having hallucinations and that they were tied to his emotions". "How does that lead us here", Batman asked. "Clark went to see Jor-El for guidance but all he got was a cryptic reply that we eventually deduced were about him and Lois". Everyone took a moment to think about that before Batman put the pieces together. "So what you are saying is, Clark knew to some degree that he would become a big threat to Earth"?

Chloe could not hide the fact that she was unnerved by this conversation. Once Clark and Lois finally stopped avoiding their feelings for each other it was Clark who realized the importance of the cryptic message. It was Lois that he would need as well as her needing him. Together they would face all odds. Unfortunately, Jor-El spoke of a possible future that could doom them all and that he would not be able to help them. The Flash's voice broke her out of her thoughts suddenly. "That would explain why my future self came back to warn us about Lex". "Well it didn't help us much Barry", replied Green Arrow. "Time will always fix itself but that doesn't mean it can't be tampered with", Barry said. "Chloe we need you to tell us about Clark's early years. Specifically anyone he lost in his life". "Why Barry"? "I have a plan to change the past with something small enough to hopefully prevent this future from happening".

Fortress of Solitude:

Clark was lost in his own mind. He could not believe what he had just done. After all of these years the thing he feared most had come true. Now Clark had to live with his actions. All he had left was Lois and now she's gone. Lex killed her just to get a reaction but it most certainly wasn't the reaction he was expecting. Clark was focused in his rage as he fought Lex. The only thing on his mind was the thought of finally being rid of his long time foe. Now the Man of Steel wishes he could just take it all back. Jor-El will not come to his aid this time. He had said so himself years ago. The League would surely be coming for him now. Superman revealed the darkness that he kept at bay his whole life. His image now striking fear and uncertainty into the hearts and minds of the humans of the Earth. Unbeknownst to Clark however, this life he had just lived was about to be changed forever. His wishes will be granted and he will never know the feeling of killing a man in cold blooded rage. While Superman sat in his fortress, the first ripples were already flowing from the past. The timeline had been altered.

The past, 2002:

Her body lay in the morgue of Smallville's hospital. Originally this is how things were supposed to play out. Her death in a sense did still happen. Her resurrection however is an abnormality that should not happen. She will live again, her fate decided in the future. Her life would set the future down a different path. The timeline adjusts as a streak of lightning enters the morgue and takes the body of the girl with it.

The present, 2005:

Anger, or was it rage? Clark could not tell which one he was feeling right now. After Alicia came back and he eventually knew she had changed, he thought that maybe he wouldn't be alone after all. Now all he feels is a burning hatred and rage, ah yes it is rage. He's almost at his limit. Almost at the point of no return because if he just keeps squeezing Tim, the meteor freak responsible for his loss, Tim will be dead and the girl who he had lost would be avenged. First Kyla died and now Alicia was gone. Clark was fast approaching the point of no return now. In another minute he would become a murderer. That's when his vision became clear again. The sound of Lois' voice pulled him back from the darkness he was about to embrace. Clark couldn't understand why Lois was able to pull him back so easily, but he knew something about his feelings that confused him from the day he had met Lois. For now he wouldn't dwell on it. He dropped a now unconscious Tim to the floor and cried while Lois wrapped her arms around him.
