Prologue: July 18th

Academy City Streets, 7:35 PM, July 18th

The boy had honestly had no reason to be there. The sun shined down on him, but he felt not a single bit warmer. Honestly, he felt that the sun had no business being so bright, but who was he to question it?

The invincible Number One, that's who. An androgynous albino male with a passively hostile face, and the most feared in the entire city. He was wearing blue jeans and a black and white T-shirt that spoke leagues about his fashion sense. Walking into a convenience store, he stopped hunching his back, putting him at his entire 168cm glory.

Looking around, he spotted his prize. Picking up the boxes of canned coffee, he walked up the the cashier. Looking the guy straight in the eyes, the other flaked out, whispering something like "take it and go, please". But Accelerator just raised an eyebrow and lifted his credit card. He wasn't such scum that he wouldn't pay for drinks.

That said, after paying he prepared to head to his apartment. But he'd detected something in the air that didn't act like the base materials of the atmosphere. Looking around, it was almost as if the entire street had been abandoned, and the day accelerated into night like something out of a time-lapse movie.

"Really, this garbage is trying to choke me now, too?" But he simply filtered the particles out of his breathable air by changing the direction they moved in. He turned in the direction of an alley. His best deduction was that this was a light control esper who was taking advantage of light's wave-particle duality to utilize it as a physical weapon. Clever, he would admit, but not good enough. Turning the corner, he prepared to fire anything from a gravel shotgun to an air bullet.

But it wasn't scum that he was used to beating down.

In front of him was a white-clad nun dashing away from some red-haired priest looking guy.

But the nun-silver haired and green eyes now that she was right in his face had managed to crash right into him... which, in itself was an oddity. Things that crashed into him tended to bounce off like rubber balls. Even so, he shouted, "Oi! Watch where the hell you're going!" as was the status quo.

...Come to think of it, that habit the nun wore looked like cloth but certainly didn't act like it. But he wasn't currently sure what the implications of that were.

But this entire situation was anything but the status quo. "I'm very sorry, mister! Are you oka-" She was stopped by the sudden combustion of the surrounding area. Flames surrounded them, and Accelerator felt a stinging sensation that might have been... pain? But that was impossible, his automatic reflection should have blown the flames away.

The stock truth, though, was that they didn't. He wasn't used to even this level of flame that would only give first degree burns. Eventually, he gathered the winds to blow them away. He was already close to collapsing at this point.

"Hey, kid. This has nothing to do with you, so start running."

The man(?) finally spoke, but Accelerator was already in too much pain to continue on.

The nun grasped his shoulder. "Are you hurt? W-"

Whatever she planned to say, he failed to hear it, his consciousness fading.

The man sighed. "...This is my responsibility, isn't it?"

For now, he would have to give up on chasing the nun. He knew her character; she would stick with him until he woke up anyways. Best to know exactly where she was, right? Besides, he had a relaxed schedule like this.

Nine days.

PS: if you're reading this and wonder what happened to the other guy i'm still the other guy
