"Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars."
Khalil Gibran
Several things were noticed at once that made Kagome's head spin. First was the amount of pain her hand was in and the second was the overwhelming sweet smell of copper. Her energy was flaring and humming in response of the distress. There was sway in her bodily motions and in fear of falling, her grip tightened on the object she was holding on. The lack of her better judgment caused her gaze to shift towards it.
A sword? Kagome's brows rose in realization.
Her eyes continued to slowly shift and diverted away from all the varying colors of red from her arm to the snow, and was that red hair? She didn't focus too much instead also noticing how her energy was literally humming against an oppression aura.
Demonic..? She licked her lips in anticipation and gently probed her reiki against it. The second she did this however Kagome found herself landing quite undignified several feet away. Pain shot through her shoulder that caused her to gasp out.
There was yelling and arguing. Kagome couldn't quite make her situation and in the back of her mind she understood the amount of blood she was losing, but she felt it. Voices were growing closer, but Kagome was too focused on the youki aura surrounding her, relishing it.
"Miss! Are you alright?"
It was soft, but held more concern than her own state of mind in the current state she was in. All she seemed to see was red. Once again there was arguing, but yet again Kagome focused on the demonic aura around her. It felt warm and reminded her of flavorful spices.
"Kurama! Get away from that."
That? Did he mean her? Certainly not the worst thing to be called.
"We can't leave her like this. This woman is still a human regardless. We have to fix this quickly."
The man speaking was definitely close, probably within arms reach since she could literally feel his breath and could smell his cologne. Come on pull yourself together! Focusing on the person close to her she could tell he was human. In a way… but.. There was energy pulsing around him. When her vision briefly cleared, a small smile graced her lips. This man was similar to her own little one.
"Fox.." Kagome's movements were slow and it was then she realized how cold she was. No wonder I'm delirious. Although she continued to lean forward into the warmth of the not exactly a half breed had to offer. Her wounded hand clutched onto his clothing, smearing blood along his coat. There was hesitancy in her movements, but his lack of rejection was reassuring her. Further Kagome curled into the stranger and wrapped her other arm around him.
"...Miss?"
Other than the now obvious miko's aura that folded around his, there was no response.
"Miss."
Silence.
"Is that hurting you?"
Kurama looked away from the young woman in his arms to side glance at his partner who questioned him. He took note the way her powers caressed against his soothingly. This wasn't his first encounter with a miko, however, it is the first friendly one. The shine it took on and the way it felt, Kurama was almost positive this lady could do some damage.
"She seemed relieved to see us, desperate and happy even." As he spoke, Kurama pulled several seeds from his hair.
Crushing the seeds within his hand and adjusting the miko's grasp to make the wounded arm more accessible, Kurama smeared the plant along the gash that took up the space from the palm of her hand to the elbow.
"The screeching reaper could heal her without having it scar and it would be faster, so we can leave."
AN: I need ideas. I started this story with something in mind, but I don't know where I'm going. But I want to keep writing.
Also, dxlmao, this chapter is for you. I'm going to go back to brainstorming and figuring out where I want this to go. This could still be a drabble series since I haven't written anything in so long. I /promise/ to write at least something once a week.
