"I'm sorry, I don't think I heard you right and I am very blind..." HiAndromon paused as his eyes focused on the image of Belphemon's holographic form on Kenta's D-Ark.
"Says the Android Digimon with super vision." BanchoLeomon muttered.
"...But did you just say this tiny goat thing is a Demon Lord?!"
Before the conversation could any further, another pulse of power sprung to life from the Demon Lord Digimon. The pulsation of violet-black energy suddenly began to increase in frequency and intensity and MarineAngemon's eyes widened as her green eyes zeroed in on the clock on the tiny goat monster's body.
"Oh no." MarinAngemon quickly enlarged her heart bubble to the point that it encompassed all of her comrades.
"MarineAngemon?!"
"BRACE YOURSELVES!"
Before anyone could ask what the tiny Mega Digimon meant, the sounds of the ticking clock came to an immediate halt only to be replaced by a loud ringing. The faces of the Bio-Merged Digimon, MarineAngemon and Kenta were adorned with fearful expressions as the loud ringing did its job.
Its eyelids clenched tightly and its once peaceful, sleeping visage bore an expression of annoyance. Its lips curled upwards to reveal sharp fangs that lined its jaws and a bestial growl rumbled out from its throat.
"It's growling! Goats don't growl!"
"Kenta! Stop panicking!" Justimon ordered.
That was a difficult order for any of the group to follow as they focused on Belphemon's arousal.
Its eyelids clenched even tighter, its head snapping every which way in what seemed to be pain, and the growl in its throat continued to evolve, growing louder and deeper. Its body began to bulge, increasing in size as its fur covered body began to take on a larger and more monstrous appearance. The chains that bound its body remained unaffected by the black flames that burned with an even greater intensity from before, but they snapped like they weren't even there as it continued to grow, soft flesh turning into hardened muscle beneath its black fur.
From within the safety of MarineAngemon's heart-shaped bubble shield, the heads of the Tamers all tilted at a steadily increasing angle as the Mega level Digimon continued to grow. It seemed as if Belphemon's growth would never cease as its body began to cast a massive shadow over all their bodies.
He wasn't really much of a religious person, but if there ever was a time for him to pray to Kami-sama, Kenta felt that now would have been an excellent time to do so.
After what seemed like an eternity, the Mega Digimon stopped growing as it reached a maximum height of twenty feet, towering over the Tamers. Its once round and pudgy face lengthened as a large snout that resembled a canine's stretched out and teeth that looked like they could tear through Chrome Digizoid with ease lined its massive jaws. The tiny stubs of keratin that had poked out of its head grew to become intimidating horns. The muscles of its arms and legs rippled as it adjusted its stance, and the flaming chains that were once wrapped around its previously diminutive form rattled as they remained dangling from around its wrists and upper thighs. Bands of gold encircled the monstrous goat's biceps, beautifully decorated with the image of a curved ram's horn, and what appeared to be dirty bandages were wrapped around the beast's wrists and ankles, their shine reflecting off of the four sharp claws that lined each of its hands and feet. Bone white armour covered its knees, with three spike-like prominences emerging from the superior aspects of the armour. Similarly coloured spikes also protruded from its clavicles, shoulders and back in a manner that made the Demon Lord of Sloth appear that it was wearing a collar of spikes. Crimson tattoos outlined its massive pectoral muscles as well as the point where the obliques and lower abdominals joined with each other, aka the 'V-lines'.
Belphemon's six massive, bat-like wings stretched out and its four eyes snapped open, their crimson shine burning with an ungodly rage that no normal creature would ever possess. The growl that had been building up in its throat throughout the transformation finally reached it apex and the Demon Lord of Sloth unleashed a devastating roar.
The shockwave produced by Belphemon's roar was enough to send ripples of force through the Pretty Heart that defended the Tamers. They were able to resist, and MarineAngemon's defensive structure had done wonders to aid them in that regard, but the four Mega level Digimon felt as if they were being rattled about down to their very DigiCores. The feeling stayed with them for a moment even after the beast's roar subsided.
"Ryo, please tell me you got some secret fourth part in that Trinity Arm of yours." Kenta gulped.
"I..."
"Hehehe. I'm afraid that even the hero Ryo Akiyama lacks the power to single-handedly take on a Demon Lord as powerful as Belphemon's Rage Mode." The Sin of Sloth's deep voice echoed throughout the Datascape.
"It talks!" BanchoLeomon exclaimed with genuine shock.
"Don't talk as if you know me, Belphemon!" Ryo shouted.
"Oh, Ryo, I'm hurt." Belphemon raised a massive clawed hand and rested against its chest, mock hurt evident in its voice. "After all these years, surely you would remember the voice of an old friend."
"An old fr-" Ryo's eyes narrowed within the DigiCore of navy blue data as he stared into Belphemon's crimson eyes. The Demon Lord of Sloth then blinked and the eyes immediately changed colour, becoming a bright orange. It was different the colour that the Sovereigns and Fanglongmon possessed, as their eye colour was unique to them as the deity Digimon.
The reason Ryo was only able to make such a distinction was because he had seen such a brilliant orange set of eyes many times before.
"No. It can't be." Both Ryo and Justimon's merged voices were full of disbelief.
"Search your feelings, Ryo. You know it to be true."
"Is the bad guy really pulling a Star Wars line on us?" Kenta muttered to himself.
"MILLENNIUMMON!"
"WHAT/WHAT?!" The rest of the Tamers exclaimed.
"A round of applause for the brilliant Ryo Akiyama." Millenniummon laughed as it caused Belphemon to clap its forepaws together.
"How are you even talking to us?!" Justimon exclaimed.
"I simply injected a bit of my data into Belphemon as I brought the little tyke out from the Dark Area. Such a task is quite easy for a being such as myself, especially given that despite all of its immense power, Belphemon has rarely any memory space dedicated to having any sort of mental power outside of basic thought, speech and battle." The goat-like Digital Monster gave the Tamers a sly smirk that was very disturbing to witness. "In all honesty, you Tamers should be thanking me because if I hadn't done this, then Belphemon would be immediately going on a rampage and slaughter all of you."
"FUCK YOU!" The Tamers shouted, their glares intent on burning holes into the possessed Demon Lord.
"You spout profanity at me as a group. How touching." Belphemon then began to flap its wings as Millenniummon's will forced itself upon the incarnation of rage. "Unfortunately, time is of the essence. I am more than willing to exchange blows with you all, but there is some place I need to take Belphemon before we do so."
"You're not going anywhere, Millenniummon!" Justimon's Trinity Arm activated and morphed into the Blitz Arm, electricity crackling from around the mechanical limb's fist. "We're stopping you! Here and now!"
"You can try...but you'll have to catch me first."
With a heavy flap of its six wings, Belphemon took off through the Datascape. A powerful wind sent the group rolling across the realm of data as the twenty foot behemoth raced past them, the heart shield that encased them now popping as it finally reached its threshold to remain active.
The Tamers glared at the rapidly escaping form of the Demon Lord, but there was no way in hell that they were gonna let it get away. HiAndromon scooped up MarineAngemon and Kenta in his arms as he activated the rocket boosters in his feet while Justimon and BanchoLeomon registered to the DataScape what would be the area of solid ground as they dug their heels in.
"AFTER HIM!" Justimon ordered.
The sound barrier would have shattered in no time flat from the pace at which they took off, and the four Tamers raced after the possessed Sin of Sloth.

"The boy is still quick to anger, just as he always has been in our past encounters." Moon-Millenniummon chuckled within his crystal casing before shifting his gaze to AncientWisemon. "Belphemon will arrive at the target location in a few moments, so now all that is left to do is wait for Fanglongmon and the rest of his motley crew to come knocking at my doorstep. AncientWisemon, status update."
"The Sovereigns are currently in the Eastern Quadrant." AncientWisemon's golden eyes glowed as he looked through the mirrors that reflected the information of the Akashic Record. "They will be arriving at Primary Village very soon."
"Master, if you so wish it, I can take a small faction of our Mega level forces and head them off." VenomMyotismon stated as a fanged grin stretched across his face. "Then you won't have to trouble yourself with them."
"That would be most unwise, Commander." The Legendary Warrior of Steel commented, its mixture of male and female voices echoing throughout the blackness of the Void of Recluse. "There is no event in the Akashic Records that show such a plan having a positive outcome. The chances of failure are 100 percent. You will most certainly be deleted once more."
"You little..." VenomMyotismon growled at the revived resident of the ancient Western Quadrant.
"The foolishness that allowed you to be defeated my the DigiDestined of the Eastern Quadrant shows once more, Commander." VenomMyotismon recoiled as if he had been delivered a heavy blow. "The fact that you think that a small faction of our forces is enough to take on the four Sovereigns, let alone one of them, is a fantasy. You would be no more than an annoyance to them."
"Then you would have them complete whatever their task is at Primary Village, Master?"
"We are well aware of what the Sovereigns are up to. The Akashic Records have spoken of what they are doing, and it is no trouble to let them evacuate the village."
"You would grant mercy, Master?"
"What is the sense in being a god to an empty Digital World, Commander?" Moon-Millenniumon asked rhetorically. "My aim is only to take out Fanglongmon and the Sovereigns. They are only able to carry out their little plans because I allow it, and this will actually serve in my favour as it will prevent what little guilt I may feel when I give the order to wipe Primary Village off of File Island's surface."
"You would really feel guilt over such a thing, Master?"
"We were all once raised in Primary Village at some point, Commander VenomMyotismon..." Orange eyes shone as he stared into the yellow ones of his commander. "...but in order to secure my rule and ensure the future that is the Digital World of Millenniummon, it is best to let the past die and I will kill it myself if I have to."
"Master, I apologise for interrupting your very wonderful explanation, but the Sovereigns have completed their task and Primary Village is being evacuated."
Said orange eyes remained fixated on VenomMyotismon, and the Ultimate level Digimon gulped as he registered his Master's lengthy silence.
"They will regroup in the Void that is Fanglongmon's domain. The Akashic Records cannot see into it because it is registered as a completely separate space despite being a part of the Digital World's core, correct?"
The leader of the Ten Legendary Warriors gave a slow nod as it turned away from said Records. "Unfortunately...yes."
"Then they will be coming to the Void of Recluse very soon."
The Void, Digital World
The Digi-Gnomes watched their descendant with deep frowns on their faces and rapidly shook their heads. One even went so far as to slap the Dragon of the Centre right across the snout.
"Your emotions are understandable, ancestors, but this needs to be done." Fanglongmon stated, not budging on his plan of action. "The other Sovereigns and I are in agreement that Millenniummon must be stopped at all costs."
The fairy-like digital creatures shook their heads once more.
"Please, ancestors. You lent me the task of watching over the Digital World in your stead and while the Tamers are indeed quite an asset to put into play, the threat that Millenniummon places upon them is more than they can handle. The Sovereigns and I, we are the protectors of the digital realm, and it is high time we let ourselves truly uphold that name."
One of the Digi-Gnomes glared at the dragon god, eyes shining gold for a brief moment.
"This is not a matter of pride. This is matter of doing what needs to be done, and that is why...I am leaving this behind." Fanglongmon's eyes glowed as one of his DigiCores floated forward before coming to a stop before the small band of Digi-Gnomes. The wielder of light and darkness tapped the DigiCore with one of his claws and the orb shone with a rainbow coloured light before dying down to its original orange. "Our legacies lay in your protection, ancestors."
The glaring Digi-Gnome reached towards the orange orb, its flipper-like arms holding onto it as if it were about to break in its grasp. The golden coloured Digimon then shoved the DigiCore into one of its brethren's arms before flapped its own limbs in anger. Its eyes shone with a light comparison to the shine given off by Fanglongmon's scales as its anger peaked, and to the surprise of the Dragon of the Centre, tears actually formed in the Digi-Gnome's eyes.
A second Digi-Gnome then hovered beside its brethren and patted the angry one on its shoulder, pulling it into a comforting embrace.
"You ask how dare I do this to you, but you also realize that I am doing this because I want to protect you."
Fanglongmon smirked as he recalled his days as a Baby Digimon, the days before he was a deity. It was so many life cycles ago that he couldn't believe that such a time existed for him, playing in the prehistoric Digital World alongside the babies that would one day grow up to be his fellow deities. They were simpler times. Happier times.
"I thank you, ancestors."
The crying Digi-Gnome cried that much harder while the others gave a nod to the dragon god, tears of their own pooling beneath at the edge of their eyes which they held back from falling through sheer force of will.
The occupants of the Void then turned their heads to the other Sovereign Digimon as they appeared within the expanse of emptiness through a Digital Portal. Fanglongmon nodded to them in acknowledgement before shifting to Azulongmon.
"You have informed Elecmon of what may come to pass?"
"Yes, Fanglongmon-sama." Azulongmon replied. "He, Meramon, Unimon and Centarumon are moving as quickly as they can to evacuate Primary Village. They will take the Digi-Eggs and the Baby Digimon currently under their watch to shelter deep within the caves that are present in the higher portions of Infinity Mountain."
"Good. I am confident in the assumption that Millenniummon is aware of the significance of Primary Village to all Digimon, especially ones of importance such as ourselves. I do not want our younglings to be caught as collateral damage."
"Are you sure we should be evacuating them at all?" Zhuqiaomon asked. "Do you have that little faith in our ability to protect them?"
"My faith is as strong as my scales, Zhuquiaomon." Considering that his Huanglong Ore was stronger than Chrome Digizoid, that was saying a lot. "But I am not in the position to take chances."
"I...I understand." The Phoenix of the South nodded.
The four Sovereigns then turned to the Digi-Gnomes as they all flew towards them. Each of the four deities were given light touches in the centre of their foreheads as if they were being bestowed blessings. They then flew back, their golden eyes staring deeply into the orange orbs of the Sovereigns before shifting over to Fanglongmon and back to the four cardinal Digimon.
Fanglongmon released a small scowl as the Sovereigns laughed.
"I am not a Baby Digimon any longer, ancestors. I am a god and the all-powerful ruler of the four quadrants, please do not treat me as anything less than that."
The Digi-Gnomes rolled their eyes at the dragon god before giving an even more intense set of stares at the cardinal Digimon.
"We will do our best, ancestors." The Sovereigns offered their own bows to the fairy-like digital constructs before parting as Fanglongmon made his way towards the portal.
The Golden Dragon of the Centre then turned around, his eleven remaining DigiCores glowing in tandem as he summoned forth a Digi-Portal. He glanced back over his shoulder and offered one last comforting smile to the ancestral programs of the Digital World before stepping through the portal alongside his fellow deities.
Unknown Location, Datascape, Digital World
Belphemon's crimson eyes stared straight ahead as it flew through the intersecting world that walled off the Digital and Real Worlds. There was no recollection in its mind as to what had occurred that caused it to wake up from its slumber, and that left the Sin of Sloth confused as to how it had awoken in such an unknown area of the Digital World as it looked nothing like the Dark Area.
The incarnation of wrath did not let that deter it from the objective that had been somehow implanted its mind. The reason behind the objective eluded the Sin of Sloth, and while the beast would rather be more inclined to return to its slumber, there must have been an important one. Otherwise it wouldn't be moving with such speed and purpose, and there wouldn't be assailants pursuing it with such vigour.
"Gattling Missile!" The chest plates of HiAndromon opened up before twin shark-like missiles were launched. The missiles flew through the world of data at breakneck speeds, easily overtaking their target before opening their jaws to reveal the barrel of a gattling gun. A loud whirring echoed throughout the Datascape as the gattling gun began to fire a multitude of bullets at the Sin of Sloth.
The goat-like beast growled in annoyance as the bullets bounced off of its muscular form.
"Annoying." The incarnation of rage raised a clawed hand and grabbed the missiles right out the air. The projectiles exploded within Belphemon's hand, but it was like watching a firecracker go off as explosion was restricted to Belphemon's enclosed fist.
As the six-winged beast released its tightly clenched fist, HiAndromon gulped, taking note of the scrap metal his weapons had become as they fell out of the clawed hand. "Well that didn't work."
"HiAndromon, I need you to get in front of Belphemon and hold him back. Kenta, you and MarinAngemon act as defensive support for him while BanchoLeomon and I get into position."
"What position is that?" The bipedal lion Digimon asked.
"The position to kick its ass." The Trinity Arm wielder replied.
"Uuuuuuh, dude, I don't mean to be that kind of Digimon, but...that thing held off my missiles like they were Nerf gun bullets." The android type Mega had worry present in his eyes. "What the hell am I supposed to do?!"
"You have stronger attacks. Just hit it as hard as you can."
"...Ok. You ready chumley?" Blue eyes glanced over his shoulder to look at the rose D-Ark wielder and his Digimon partner as they were clinging to his back for dear life. Moving at near supersonic speeds would make one very inclined to do so.
"Y-Yeah!" The two nodded.
"Alright! Let's do this!" The whine of his turbine engines increased in pitch and the blue flames of his rocket thrusters grew larger as they propelled him and passengers forwards at an even faster pace.
Belphemon's ears twitched and crimson eyes shifted sideways as a blur of steel grey whooshed past it. The Demon Lord Digimon followed after the rapidly moving object and it growled as it saw HiAndromon flying in front of it. The android Digimon then turned around and the rocket boosters on its feet released another deafening boom as they propelled their user forward. HiAndromon reared back a tightly clenched fist and let it fly, but at the same time, Belphemon had unleashed its own powerful jab.
The two fists collided with terrific force, a shockwave echoing across the digital space. HiAndromon's mechanics roared as they aimed to try and overpower the Demon Lord, but said beast had both size and overall physical might which left the android hopelessly outclassed in a contest of strength. As such, HiAndromon was sent flying back as the Sin of Sloth easily overpowered him, however, HiAndromon's hands rotated swiftly to the point that they took on the appearance of ebony pikes. As he righted himself in the air, the pikes then glowed with blue energy as power was rerouted from its DigiCore.
"LIGHTNING BLADE!" HiAndromon swung both arms forcefully and the arcs of blue electrical energy flew towards the Demon Lord.
"Disgusting gnat." The six-winged beast growled before inhaling deeply. Its massive chest expanded before unleashing a powerful roar that sent out sound waves so devastating that the air of the Datascape rippled.
"PRETTY HEART!" A large heart-shaped barrier formed in front of the trio as green eyes glanced back at her Tamer. "Kenta-chan, my hearts won't be enough on their own!"
"I got you covered, partner!" Kenta exclaimed as he had already had a modification card in hand. "Digi-modify...WarGreymon's Brave Shield! Activate!"
The golden shield of Chrome Digizoid appeared in a swirl of data, acting as a secondary line of defense behind the Pretty Heart just as the powerful roar of the incarnation of rage slammed into them. MarineAngemon gritted her teeth as she fought to keep her defenses up, but it was taking all of her concentration and will to resist the simple nauseating feeling that came from simply hearing the Demon Lord's roar.
'Belphemon's Rage Mode truly is a frightening thing.' The tiny pink Mega thought. She then released a gasp as the shields broke down the moment the roar subsided. "HiAndromon-chan! Now!"
As the shields had been holding off the roar, HiAndromon had been charging his attack. Blue and orange energy was being concentrated within both of the power cores in the Mega Digimon's shoulders before he raised his hands as they were converted into the mouths of cannons.
"Man I could totally do a Kamehameha thing right now."
"KAZU!" MarineAngemon and Kenta screamed at the human-half of HiAndromon's personality.
"Right! Attacking!" HiAndromon immediately stopped charging before firing.
"ATOMIC RAY!" The beams of energy spiraled around each other in a double helix pattern as they were launched towards the Sin of Sloth before combing into a twister of orange and blue. Belphemon was forced to raise its arms and the Demon Lord gritted its teeth as it was sent flying back from the force behind the energy blast.
"BanchoLeomon! Now!"
"Right!"
Belphemon turned its head back slightly and crimson eyes caught sight of the two other Mega Digimon as they descended towards it at a breakneck pace.
"THUNDERCLAP!"
"FLASH BANTYO PUNCH!"
The Accel Arm came crashing down in the form of a powerful palm strike and BanchoLeomon's punch literally roared as it was encased in crimson energy that took on the image of a lion head. Both blows slammed down onto the Demon Lord's back with a devastating impact that sent it tumbling through the digital space before it crashed into the invisible 'ground' that had been established when the Tamers initially arrived in the Datascape.
Belphemon growled and lashed out with its claws in a blind rage in an attempt to rip Justimon and BanchoLeomon to shreds, but the two bio-merged Digimon had immediately leaped off the Demon Lord's back before skidding as the momentum behind their jump carried them a bit further away from it. Taking advantage of the distance between them, Justimon raised the Trinity Arm and converted it into the Blitz Arm. The red orb in the centre of its palm glowed as the Hero of Justice Digimon aimed at the Sin of Sloth as BanchoLeomon drew its sword.
"JUSTICE BURST!"
"LION KING SLASH"
A barrage of golden lightning bullets while a series of crimson energy arcs rushed towards the grounded Demon Lord. In addition to this, HiAndromon fired off his Gattling Missiles once more and this time, they were making actual hits with the bullets. Belphemon snarled as it folded its wings and tensed its muscles as a feeble form of defense against the onslaught.
The moment HiAndromon's Gattling Missiles ran out of bullets, the thrusters that kept them airborne adjusted to have them descend towards the Sin of Sloth. The missiles detonated upon making contact with the Demon Lord and a roar tore through the Datascape as the beast-like Digimon was now wrapped in a fiery embrace. It was then that a few flakes of red data began to flow off of its back and shoulders, a detail that the Tamers were quick to notice.
"We're wounding it!" Kenta whooped.
"Now let's kill it!" A sadistic grin spread across the green eyed Mega's face as she glanced back at her Tamer.
"Your sadism concerns me." The glasses-wearing Tamer muttered as he withdrew a modification card from his deck holder.
"Just shut up and gimme the good stuff!"
"Alright Alright!" Kenta swiped the modification card along the slit in his D-Ark and the data was read by the device. "Digi-modify...Omnimon's Supreme Cannon! Activate!"
MarineAngemon raised its tiny flippers as the head of a MetalGarurumon appeared over them in a flash of data. A manic light shone in MarineAngemon's eyes with a similar intensity the shine of ice blue energy that collected within the mouth of the cannon that emerged from the robotic wolf head open maw.
"SUPREME CANNON!" The blast of icy energy tore through the Datascape and another roar escaped Belphemon's throat as a deafening explosion occurred, a dome of ice blue energy expanding across the battlefield and generating a massive shockwave.
The Tamers stopped their onslaught as the explosion from the Supreme Cannon died down, but their guards remained intact as they stared at the resulting cloud of frost that billowed through the Datascape. A deafening silence echoed across the world of data, the Tamers' gazes never once leaving the frost cloud. It was a good thing too because the surprise they felt was now only at a minimum when the blood red shine of the Virus attribute Digimon's eyes pierced through the blue coloured smoke.
With a roar, six massive wings stretched to unveil their full span and the Sin of Sloth growled, glaring at the party of five.
"Need to do what needs to be done. Can sleep once task is done." Belphemon's chains rattled as the black flames seemed to flicker with a greater intensity. "LET ME SLEEP!"
The mighty horned Digimon roared as it turned to Justimon and BanchoLeomon, its feet making the entire Datascape shake as it thundered across the battlefield with a speed that belied its size. BanchoLeomon and Justimon jumped to get out of the way as it slashed at them, grunting as they a powerful wind was generated despite having avoiding the main attack.
"No escape, gnat!" The chains that were wrapped around the wrist of Belphemon's striking hand suddenly sprung to life, moving like serpents as they seemed to take on a will of their own. "Lampranthus!" They rattled loudly before tying themselves securely around Justimon's normal arm and the Hero of Justice Digimon released a cry of pain as the black flames burned at his flesh and the tightness of the chains' grip made it feel as if his humerus would snap.
"Voltage Blade!" The Trinity Arm glowed with orange light as it shifted from its Accel Arm form to that of the Critical Arm. Upon doing so, the lengthy blade of orange energy sprung forth from the metallic hilt that comprised the Critical Arm and Justimon swung it down. Sparks decorated the air upon making contact, but the slash had next to nothing.
The chains then tightened even further and Justimon could have sworn he saw the four-eyed demon smirk as it gripped the chains tightly.
"Fuck."
Belphemon swung his prey through the air and BanchoLeomon was the first to be struck by its friend turned bludgeoning tool. The bipedal lion Digimon hopped out of the way as Justimon ended up being slammed into the invisible ground, but the Demon Lord followed up quicker than expected as it roared. BanchoLeomon cried out in pain, gripping its ears as it fell to its knees, the feeling of its DigiCore rattling deep within its body all but completely immobilizing it. Belphemon then swung Justimon in a full revolution to build up momentum and BanchoLeomon's roar of pain turned into a silent gasp as Justimon's head ended up digging into its stomach. The trenchcoat wearing Mega felt the wind rush out of its lungs as it was sent skyward from the strike only to then be encompassed by the shadow of Belphemon's free arm as it was raised overhead.
"Gift of Darkness!" The ivory claws of the beast Digimon were wrapped in emeralds flames before crashing down upon the lion Digimon and sending it rocketing back to ground zero with terrific force.
The Sin of Sloth's onslaught did not meet its end there however, for it had not forgotten about the other three gnats that remained in the air. The crimson eyed Demon Lord swung Justimon through the air again and HiAndromon moved quickly to dodge before MarineAngemon was granted the shield of WarGreymon as the Demon Lord roared. The Brave Shield sung as the sound waves rattled against the Chrome Digizoid structure, but it did the job.
"Digi-modify...Paildramon's Desperado Blaster! Activate!"
"Desperado Blaster!" A pair of machine guns materialized into MarineAngemon's grasp, aiming them from her perch atop HiAndromon's back. She pulled on the triggers and unleashed a barrage of digitally forged lead upon her target, but Belphemon merely flapped his wings, generating a gust of wind that sent the bullets off-course and scattering them across the digital battlefield.
Belphemon then raised his head as his horns began to glow. Sparks of violet voltage sparked off of the keratin protrusions before lancing off from them with a thunderous boom.
"Off!"
"HiAndromon!" Kenta and MarineAngemon were caught off-guard as HiAndromon suddenly went upside-down, causing them to fall off of his back.
"Lightning Horn!" As they descended, they could only watch as the bolt of purple voltage crashed into HiAndromon's body. The bio-merged Digimon screamed in pain as his internal systems were flooded with a surplus of electrical energy, and so in an effort to protect his DigiCore and his life, HiAndromon momentarily blacked out. The Lightning Horn attack came to an end, tails of black smoke trailing behind the falling Digimon. Luckily, MarineAngemon had managed to forge a heart bubble that she and Kenta had landed on, and the bubble also served to cushion HiAndromon's fall as well.
Taking satisfaction is seeing the robotic Digimon being electrocuted, the Sin of Sloth finally gave his last bits of attention to the Digimon currently in his grasp. With a roar, Belphemon swung Justimon around by his burning chains. If the Datascape had the ability to crater, the force of Justimon being slammed down three times in succession would have done the job.
"Gift of Darkness!" Belphemon's claws were once again wrapped in the flames of Hell as he swung Justimon high into the air. He unleashed the devastating slash and Justimon cried out in agony as the emerald flames burned at his body, and the force behind the attack itself sent him flying through the air. The chains held a tight grip on his left arm as his momentum continued to carry him across the Datascape, but even though the chains became taut, said momentum did not slow down a single bit.
The wielder of the Trinity Arm felt it all. He felt the head of his humerus pop out of its socket. He felt the ripping and tearing of the muscles of his arm. He felt the lack of weight on his left side and he definitely felt the pain as a shower of red data flakes exploded out of the small stump where the arm had once been attached. He descended towards the floor of the Datascape with a terrific impact and then...everything went black.
Void of Recluse, Northern Quadrant, Digital World
"AncientWisemon, evacuate the Void with the Commander. I will place you both at the intended area near Primary Village, and you will wait for the signal. Commander, when AncientWisemon informs you of the signal to attack, do not spare a single centimetre of that village. You will take the Ten Legendary Warriors and you will wipe it off the face of File Island."
"Yes, Master." The two Digimon bowed in compliance before a Digital Portal was opened beneath their respective forms and taking them outside the Void of Recluse.
The moment they vanished, the portals closed and Moon-Millenniummon hovered in silence, alone in the Digital World's recycle bin. His eyes glowed with what could have been interpreted as actual joy as the Mega level Digimon chuckled. Innumerable data cycles of planning, waiting and making sure everything fell into place were all finally coming to a head.
His twin-headed form stared straight ahead, watching deep into the black expanse of the Void of Recluse. The blackness was then pierced through by a flash of light and a swirling vortex of gold, yellow, green and red pixels appeared not too far away from him.
Moon-Millenniummon would have grinned if either of his two heads had a mouth. Unfortunately, his only option to personify his anticipation was to wriggle his ghostly body like a worm and clap his small hands together. The excitement that filled his soul-like body immediately began to experience a decline however, as he took note of the lack of giant Digital Monsters emerging from the Digital Portal before him.
"Hmmm?" His twin heads narrowed their eyes once they took notice of a shroud of black mist that flowed out of the vortex of concentrated space-time, diffusing across the Void of Recluse. Due to the darkness of the void itself, the black mist that spilled from the Digi-Portal became nigh invisible to the naked eye as black mixed with black. Moon-Millennummon observed the crystal that his soul self was currently hovering in, but noted no significant changes to its appearance. There were no cracks or warped areas as the black mist flowed over him until finally, the mist dispersed and a pulse of pure power raced across the Void of Recluse.
"Ah." Moon-Millenniummon's orange eyes snapped back in the direction of the portal. The Digi-Portal was gone, but in its place stood the Dragon of the Centre. The Evil God type Digimon gave a dramatic bow to his fellow Mega level. "Fanglongmon-sama, welcome to my humble abode."
"Your plans end here, Millenniummon."
"Because the all-powerful Dragon of the Centre wills it?"
"Exactly. The words of a god are to be followed without question, especially when those words are mine."
"You sound awfully like a dark god, Fanglongmon. Are you not supposed to be a representation the light of good in our data-filled world?"
"My stance as ruler means that while I must embody the light, I must also accept the presence of the darkness. Light cannot exist without darkness, and I am willing to be both if it means ridding my Digital World of your wretched existence!" Fanglongmon bared his fangs as gold and violet-black flames sprung to life around his claws. "My will be done!"
The fusion of light and darkness flew across the Void of Recluse as a powerful stream of flame towards Moon-Millenniummon. The enemy Mega Digimon didn't even flinch at the oncoming attack, the glow of the flames growing brighter and brighter with each passing second. The flames of the golden scaled dragon washed over Moon-Millenniummon, but the crystal that encased his gaseous-like body shone with a bright violet light.
"You are much weaker than I thought." The Virus attribute Digimon's four eyes narrowed. "Let me show you what a real god is capable of."
"Death Crystal!" Moon-Millenniummon's crystal glowed even bright before unleashing a powerful wave of energy that tore across the Void of Recluse and ripped through Fanglongmon's attack. The attack continued over to Fanglongmon's location, but the dragon god's claws burned with the powers of light and darkness once more as he slammed them against the wave of energy.
"Dragon Smash!"
The two attacks collided and a powerful explosion of gold and violet light rocked the dark void. The moment the light had died down, Fanglongmon was already within striking distance of his opponent.
"Fang of the Emperor!" The holder of the Huanglon Ore opened his massive jaws and bore down upon Moon-Millenniummon, but grunted as the space in front of him began to warp. Fanglongmon's eyes glowed in tandem with the eleven DigiCore's around his body in response and the warped area of space was reverted back to normal in time for him to be on the receiving end of another pulse of concussive violet energy.
Fanglongmon spun with the blow as it drove into the side of his face and lashed out with his heavy tail. The rear appendage slammed against Moon-Millenniummon's crystalline protection, but it still sent the Evil God flying back through the void.
The two deity-class Digimon recovered from their exchange, but Fanglongmon remained on the offensive as he flew towards his opponent with claws ignited with the energies of light and darkness. Moon-Millenniummon's twin heads released growls of annoyance and the Virus attribute Digimon's crystal casing suddenly shattered apart before the dragon god's eight eyes.
Moon-Millenniummon's body ghost-like body suddenly expanded in size, taking on a body that was akin to a twin-headed version of the Golden Dragon.
"DRAGON SMASH!" Fanglongmon roared and brought the two sets of claws down upon Moon-Millenniummon, but the opposing Mega raised his claws of shadow and interlocked the with those of the dragon god's. A powerful shockwave raced across the battleground as the two literally butted heads with each other, and additional shockwaves rocked the Void of Recluse.
Fanglongmon's grip then tightened as his body glowed with golden light. A grin stretched across the deity's face as he saw the shock that crossed that of his opponent's. Two of the DigiCores around Fanglongmon's body pulsed as he drew upon the powers of the earth and the tides. Brown stone materialized alongside a tidal wave of water before being melded into one.
"OUKAI!" The massive earthflow then began to rotate as a flash of golden light exploded out of the Huanglong Ore holder's body. The golden vortex grew larger and larger with each passing second until the mixture of light and earth encompassed both its user and Moon-Millenniummon in an unrelenting attack that held the power of natural disaster within it.
The power of the Oukai continued to rage across the Void of Recluse, and the entire realm of blackness seemed to shake from the intensity of the attack. Moon-Millenniummon snarled as he felt his body being torn apart by the yellow rotation, but he would have none of it.
"DO NOT TAKE ME FOR A FOOL, FANGLONGMON!" The Evil God's eyes shone and his body expanded in size at a rapid pace to match that of the Oukai's, and then exceeded it. The Golden of the Centre watched in both awe and shock as his opponent had morphed from his draconian image into that of a massive formless shadow being that was more than large enough to swallow him whole.
"Begone...almighty dragon god!" Moon-Millenniummon's shadow-like body then melded with the Oukai. Its golden light burned with a brilliance it never had before, fighting to resist the outside force. Unfortunately, Moon-Millenniummon's power began to overwhelm that of the Oukai and the golden vortex began to shrink steadily as it became a vortex of violet-black.
Fanglongmon's DigiCores glowed as he fought to resist the vortex of shadow, his eight eyes burning with rage as Moon-Millenniummon's four orange eyes appeared within the circulation system itself.
"Your struggle is admirable, Fanglongmon...but let's end this charade." With the Oukai now swallowed whole, Moon-Millenniummon's body exerted a great deal of implosive force. Fanglongmon roared in pain as he was being crushed from all sides. "I will admit that this was a clever attempt to distract me, but the Void of Recluse is mine. Whether it be real...or an illusion."
Orange eyes shone and the world around him began to degenerate into pixels before him. With the illusion shattered, Moon-Millenniummon was now looking upon the reality of the place he had called his home for many a data cycle. He glanced around him and found the Cardinal Digimon had encircled him, their eyes and DigiCores shining like stars within the void.
"He's broken free of my Mugen!" Ebonwumon exclaimed.
"What?!" Baihumon's eyes widened in shock. "But not even ten seconds have gone by."
"It doesn't matter! As short as it was, your illusion bought us enough time, Ebonwumon!" Zhuqiaomon screeched as his crimson aura burned brighter than before, making him shine within the Void of Recluse with the intensity mimicking that of the sun. The auras of the other Sovereigns did the same as they poured as much power as they could muster into their attacks.
"ATTACK ALL AT ONCE!" Azulongmon shouted as his body crackled with massive amounts of azure lightning.
The lightning around the Azure Dragon of the East was unleashed in the form of a massive lightning dragon that released a roar akin to a boom of thunder. The Phoenix of the South opened his beak and unleashed twin bursts of vermilion flame that spiraled around each other in the shape of a double helix. The Steel Tiger of the West roared and a powerful wave of white energy moved across the Void of Recluse, while the Turtle of the North opened both of his mouths and fired off twin bursts of pressurized black water that melded into one, taking the appearance of a roaring dragon.
"AURORA FORCE!"
"BLAZING HELIX!"
"KONGOU!"
"SOURYUUHA!"
The four powerful attacks converged upon their singular target and the elements of lightning, fire, steel and water reacted with one another upon making contact. A deafening silence echoed across the Void of Recluse as the mixture of elemental attacks created a flash of white light that shone with the intensity of a star. Sound then returned to the black void as the star of light shrunk in on itself before finally exploding outwards as a gargantuan sphere of white light. The explosive yield of the sphere was so great that the fabric of space and time within the void seemed as if it were about to be torn apart. The accompanying shockwave created a powerful gusts of wind that forced the four Sovereigns to grit their teeth as they were force to resist against the fallout of their own attacks.
Zhuqiaomon flapped his wings as he gave a smug laugh. "That is the punishment for believing you have what it takes to fight the great Zhuquiaomon-sama!"
"Zhuqiaomon-sama?" Ebonwumon's right head sweatdropped while his left head blinked in confusion.
"Do not be cocky, Zhuqiaomon." Lightning sparked off of the azure dragon's mustache in anticipation, his eyes narrowing as he looked at the fading spheroid of light.
The White Tiger of the West nodded in agreement with the lightning deity. "Indeed. Azulongmon is correct, and we cannot assume the enemy is dead until we see the red of their data."
Fanglongmon was silent as he was watching from above, waiting to see if his fellow digital gods had managed to end the threat. His eight eyes narrowed as the light finally faded out of existence and he caught sight of a glowing purple sphere that lay in the area of the dark void that had been the epicentre of the cataclysmic explosion. The sphere pulsed and suddenly, it appeared as if time was undergoing a rapid rewind.
Multiple tendrils of shadow-like constructs converged at the point and the eyes of the digital gods all widened as they witnessed the reappearance of the explosion sphere they had created. The sphere then began to shrink in size and the shadow tendrils that the Golden Dragon had taken note of coalesced. he Evil God type Digimon's phantasmal body reformed from the blackness of the void, but then began taking on the image of a giant twin-headed dragon like he had done in the Mugen illusion.
"You are such adorable creatures for thinking that a simple all-out assault would be enough to wipe me out." Moon-Millenniummon then raised his forelimbs as orbs of concentrated lightning, fire, water and metal encircled his body.
"Are those...?"
"Oh these?" His orange eyes shifted, staring into the golden ones of the White Tiger. "Yes. Impressive attacks that are worth being prideful about, but sadly they are not mine. I do not wish to steal so I will do an act of benevolence and return them to you all. HERE!"
Moon-Millenniummon snapped two of his claws and the elemental spheres burst forth as they were guided by the will of the Virus Digimon. The Sovereigns quickly moved out of the way, gritting their teeth as they felt the ripples of force that their attacks generated from passing so close to them.
Zhuqiaomon went into a barrel-roll before folding his wings over his body as if he were hugging himself. "Desolation Blast!" Multiple spheroids of crimson flame appeared before he unfurled his wings. The fireballs all raced towards Moon-Millenniummon like a meteor shower, but the evil Mega simply raised his forelimb and pointed at the fireballs. The orbs of superheated oxygen were suddenly sucked into individual rips in space-time, but as soon as those rips closed, new ones had been opened up and the fireballs were sent careening through the Void of Recluse as they were redirected towards the Sovereigns.
Azulongmon's eyes glowed as he reared his head up and the jagged bolt-shaped horn atop his head glowed with power.
"BLUE THUNDER!" A powerful bolt of azure lightning sparked from the tip of his horn, and with a thunderous boom, the bolt branched out in all directions. Moving at speeds equating to one-hundredth of a second, the lightning bolts all moved according to their wielder's will as they each collided with Zhuqiaomon's fireballs. The flames and lightning set off a chain of fiery explosions that dotted the Void of Recluse, but those explosions were quickly dispersed as a powerful whirlwind formed as Ebonwumon roared.
What looked like an ebony hail shards, each one the size of a basketball, collected over Moon-Millenniummon's head. At the same time, Fanglongmon had flown around to strike from below as called upon the powers of the earth within his DigiCores and infused them with the energy of light to generate a massive golden earthflow typhoon.
"BLACK HAIL!"
"OUKAI!"
The Turtle of the North and the Dragon of the Centre unleashed their attacks. The storm of black hail came down like a raging ice twister from above while Fanglongmon's Oukai was a golden vortex of destruction that rose up from below. Moon-Millenniummon snarled as he the pincer attack aimed to crush him, but with a snap of his claws, the high speed circulation systems of ice and earth halted as the twin-headed Virus Digimon paused time.
"An attempt in futility."
"To the untrained eye." The Golden Dragon smirked. "BAIHUMON NOW!"
"IRON-ARMOURED CLAWS!" Moon-Millenniummon's eyes widened as a sonic boom echoed across the Void of Recluse. Racing across the black void, Baihumon's claim to be the fastest of the Sovereigns held true as he traversed the vast distance between himself and his opponent at such a pace that the phantasmal Digital Monster had no time to react. With claws shining with silvery-white energy, the Tiger of the West roared and a delivered a swift slash, slicing off Moon-Millenniummon's forearms and heads.
His focus on stopping time had been lost in that split second and as a result, the twin elemental vortexes were no longer inhibited in their movements. Baihumon blurred into existence beside Azulongmon before turning to his fellow deities.
"EBONWUMON! FANGLONGMON-SAMA!"
"HRAAAAAAAAAH!" The two reptilian Digimon roared, their DigiCores glowing as they forced their attacks into motion once more. Ice, earth and light collided with terrific force and wrapped the Evil God Digimon in a storm of elemental wrath. However, from within the digital super storm, Moon-Millenniummon released a laugh that seemed to echo across the Void of Recluse.
"My DigiCore has survived destruction three times before. Space and time are my playthings. Now if you really want to have a chance at deleting me, let me show you the kind of power you will require."
"As if we'll give you the chance!" The Vermilion Phoenix cried out as he unleashed a spiraling blaze from his beak. "CRIMSON BLAZE!"
"LIGHTNING WHIP!"
Azulongmon let loose a powerful bolt of lightning in tandem with Zhuqiamon's fire blast, striking the elemental vortex that encompassed their enemy simultaneously. Fire and lightning served to deliver a great deal of damage to the Virus attribute Digimon that the vortex entrapped. Moon-Millenniummon gritted his fangs in annoyance as the divine attacks actually hurt.
Moon-Millenniummon's eyes glowed and suddenly the area of space around the Evil God literally came to a halt.
"Dimension Destroyer."
The fabric of space and time rippled before a powerful burst of energy rocketed out of Moon-Millenniummon's body. The elemental vortex was torn apart and the Digimon Sovereigns all released gasps as a flash of violet-black light washed over the entire Void of Recluse.
Datascape, Digital World
"GAH!" Ryo and Monodramon gasped as they simultaneously sprung awake. They patted themselves down and looked around in a panic.
"Woah Woah Woah!" Kenta raised his hands in placating manner, trying to get the Eastern Quadrant native and his partner Digimon to calm themselves down. "It's alright guys. You're fine. We're alive."
"Wh-What happened?" Ryo asked. He grunted as he felt a phantom pain lancing through his left arm and rubbed it. "Where's Belphemon?"
"The last thing I remember is when we got our arm torn off." Monodramon winced as he too felt the phantom pain in his left arm.
"Yeah, apparently whatever it was that Belphemon needed to do wasn't enough to make him stick around to finish the job of killing us." BanchoLeomon said before turning to MarineAngemon. "A good thing too because the moment Belphemon hit you with that last attack, you hit the ground and reverted back to your original forms."
"Lucky for you two that the damage we get in our bio-merged forms don't carry over because I don't think we have the ability to heal a dismembered person." HiAndromon added.
"Yeah...lucky." Monodramon muttered, golden eyes glancing at his partner's uneasy visage. "How long have we been out?"
"About two minutes at least."
"Shit. That's way too long given Belphemon's speed." The navy blue D-Ark wielder cursed as he climbed to his feet. "We have to get moving. HiAndromon, track down Belphemon's data trail now!"
"On it!"
"We need to work out a plan, so let's walk and talk."
"Alright, but you take a break for a bit bro." Ryo turned to the rose D-Ark user with a mild frown, only to be met with a harsh stare in response. "Dude, you and Monodramon got your goddamned arm ripped off. Have BanchoLeomon or HiAndromon carry you two for a bit."
"Kenta..."
"Chumley's got a point." Kazu's voice spoke through HiAndromon's mouth. "We don't mind."
"It's true." Jeri's kind voice being heard through the mouth of a very masculine looking bipedal lion would never cease to confuse Ryo's mind. He sighed and raised his arms in surrender.
"Fine."
With a nod, the brown haired tamer and his purple-scaled partner were scooped up in the arms of BanchoLeomon as Kenta and MarineAngemon were taken up by HiAndromon. The android Digimon's rocket boosters activated, blue flames ejecting out of the holes at the base of his feet, while BanchoLeomon's legs tensed before allowing the lion Digimon to push off with explosive speeds.
"Alright, I got a bead on Belphemon's data trail." HAndromon's eyes whirred as his optics adjusted. "He's been going in a straight line so far from what my scanners indicate."
"Then we need to just follow it." Ryo replied.
A beeping then echoed throughout the Datascape and all eyes shifted in Ryo's direction. The brown haired Tamer retrieved the source of the beeping, his D-Ark, and noted the screen flashing yellow. Ryo pressed the orange button and allowed the call to go through.
"Yeah Yamaki?"
"We didn't hear from you after you guys said something about a Demon Lord."
"We're fine. Our pride is hurt, but we're fine." Monodramon replied.
The group then looked to Ryo as he made a hand motion to keep moving.
"Awww Yamaki's worried about us." MarineAngemon giggled.
"Not now, MarineAngemon." The diminutive Mega Digimon giggled once more, practically feeling the annoyed glare the dirty blonde CEO was sending her. "What's the status?"
"We got our asses handed to us." Kenta replied. "Hard."
"Apparently the worm that AncientTroiamon and those Datamon left in your server wasn't just any sort of virus program. It was a Demon Lord Digimon, the Sin of Sloth known as Belphemon."
"Hmmm...so we're looking at a threat on the scale of Lucemon then?" Despite the calm front that Yamaki's voice seemed to portray, it was obvious that the head of Hypnos was feeling some form of unease. At most, he was bloody terrified. If a threat on the scale of the Sin of Pride was going to occur, things were obviously not going to take a turn for the better. A lot of the country's resources had been pooled to rebuild in the aftermath of the battle between Lucemon and Valdeusmon, and even after three years, Yamaki would never forget such a nightmarish event for as long as he lived.
"The possibility exists, but Millenniummon is using Belphemon as a chess piece in whatever game he's playing." Ryo stated. "Belphemon is supposed to rampage the moment it wakes up from the sleep it goes into, but Millenniummon placed a bit of his own data into its mind and now it won't rest until it fulfills the task at hand."
"And I'm guessing you guys don't exactly know what that task is?"
"Not a clue." BanchoLeomon shook its head. "By the way, Yamaki, since you've been keeping tabs on us...we had to travel a good distance after Belphemon. Any idea of being able to map out a possible end target for where it would end up."
"Hold on." There was a brief pause as the sound of keyboard keys echoed through the D-Ark's speakers. The keys stopped clacking and the Tamers all heard gasps from Riley and Tally.
"What? What's happening? Why is there gasping? Gasping is never a good thing!" HiAndromon exclaimed, the merged voices of the android Digimon and Kazu filling the area with unintentional panic.
"Judging from the pathway that Belphemon had been taking, you guys have actually traveled a lot farther than you think you have outside of Hypnos's server. You're in the JSDF's."
"The JSDF?!" BanchoLeomon exclaimed. "How the hell did we get all the way there?!"
"Ever since Lucemon's attack, Prime Minister Abe decreed that we at Hypnos maintain close and discrete contact with the Japanese military so that in the event that an attack similar to Lucemon ever occurred again, we would be able to make quick contact and make decisive tactical movements without any delay between us." Yamaki scowled. "Unfortunately, this created a communication channel between our server and theirs."
"So where's Belphemon heading?!" Monodramon asked.
"Belphemon's clearly powerful as from what we can see, it practically bulldozed through every single data protection method they had and is en route to..." A few more keys were tapped on Hypnos's end of the line. "DSN-1?"
"DSN-1? What's DSN-1?" HiAndromon tilted his head in confusion.
"It's Japan's first geostationary communications satellite. It was a joint effort between the Japanese military and the DSN corporation who are a subset of SKY Perfect JSAT Group, the biggest and most influential satellite company in all of Asia." Tally's voice piped in to deliver the facts for the confused Tamers. "It's actually just a prototype for the DSN-2 which is scheduled to be completed and launched by January of 2017, almost four years from now. But why would Millenniummon be sending Belphemon there? It's just a communications satellite."
"It doesn't matter what Millenniummon plans to use Belphemon for when he hacks into the DSN-1 because whether or not we are aware of the plan, the bastard's definitely not going to be using it to make a phone call." The temporary leader of the Tamers stated. "Yamaki, what's Belphemon's ETA to the DSN-1 server?"
There was brief pause from Hypnos HQ before the sound of a fist slamming against expensive computer hardware echoed through the D-Ark's speakers. "...Shit!"
"Already there huh?"
"Yeah, but you're not too far behind."
"BanchoLeomon, get ready to throw us the moment we cross the server barriers." The trench coat wearing Digimon nodded its head as it adjusted its grip, allowing for the temporary leader of the Tamers and his partner Digimon to stand upright in her hands. "Yamaki, what's our ETA?"
"Ten seconds!"
Ryo and Monodramon unconsciously tensed their bodies as BanchoLeomon's grip tightened around them. Those ten seconds were probably the longest ten seconds of their lives as time seemed to slow down through their eyes. Their hearts drummed in their chests, their breaths were long and slow as they seemed to echo throughout the Datascape, and they could feel the rush of data around them as the ten seconds turned to zero.
"NOW!" Ryo pressed the orange button on his D-Ark and both he and Monodramon were hurled through the air as they were engulfed in an egg of navy blue data.
Void of Recluse, Nothern Quadrant, Digital World
The flash of purple-black light had faded and the four Sovereigns looked over themselves, confusion written across their faces as they found themselves to be unharmed. Their eyes then shifted to Millenniummon, his orange eyes burning with rage that was directed at Fanglongmon. The eyes of the Sovereigns widened as they caught sight of their leader and realizing the reason for their enemy's anger.
The Dragon of the Centre's DigiCores shone like stars as the power of light and darkness combined to create a singularity of destruction that drew in all of the data that had been utilized for Moon-Millenniummon's attack. As the last of string of code was drawn into the singularity, Fanglongmon ended the technique and took a deep breath of relief.
"What...What did you just do?!" The Virus Digimon's ghostly outline flickered like fire in representation of his anger. "You used Taikyou! You should have aided in my destruction of this void, not prevented it!"
"The Taikyou is indeed meant to be a force of destruction, but the DigiCores are a source of life. Creation and Rebirth are what the DigiCores represent, and using them as the power source of the Taikyou allows me to govern over life itself in the same way that normally using light and darkness to create it allows me to bring forth untold destruction." Fanglongmon's eight eyes glowed with power as if to solidify his statement. "I am God of the Digital World and like I said from the beginning...my will be done."
"Your will be dead!" Millenniummon roared before his body became a formless shroud of shadow that sped across the Void of Recluse towards the dragon god. The phantasmal Digimon solidified, morphing its body into the likeliness of its original Millenniummon form with the only difference being that instead of one head, there were two. Though thin in appearance, the form that was created by a fusion of Kimeramon and Machinedramon was by no means weak. Its upper body becoming distinctly more humanoid as it flexed the claws on its right hand, Millenniummon roared to signal its attack.
"Death Crystal!"
"Dragon Smash!"
The elements of light and darkness sprung forth in the likeness of a black and golden flame as Moon-Millenniumon brought his attack down as a powerful slash that was capable of ripping apart the very fabric of a Digimon's soul. The two mighty attacks clashed and the fabric of space and time warped at the point of collision before a powerful shockwave sent the two combatants flying back away from each other.
"Zhuquiaomon! Baihumon!"
"OSU!" The two Sovereigns immediately responded to the Huanglong Ore holder's call. In a blur of crimson and white, the two quickly traversed the distance between themselves and Millenniummon, talons of flame and claws of silvery steel already reared back to strike. They circled around the space-time manipulator before Baihumon struck from the right and Zhuquiaomon came in from the left.
"PURGATORY CLAWS!"
"IRON ARMOURED CLAWS!"
Millenniummon snarled and raised its hands. A fiery shockwave raced out from the point of contact, but the enemy Digimon was unharmed as Zhuqiaomon and Baihumon's bodies trembled as they pushed against the clawed limbs that held back their attacks.
"You might actually make this fun."
The two deity Digimon narrowed their eyes in annoyance before their auras flared. Millenniummon's eyes widened as he was pushed back and was immediately forced on the defensive as Zhuqaiomon and Baihumon followed up with a barrage of attacks so swift that they were practically streaks of white and crimson to the naked eye. Bursts of fire and the shine of steel dotted the ebony expanse that made up the Digital World's Hell with each collision the two Sovereigns made with their enemy before they finally broke through Millenniummon's guard when the Vermilion Phoenix breathed out a tongue of fire from his beak.
"Crimson Blaze!" A fire blast that similar to a prominence of the sun generated a massive explosion that had the space-time manipulator tumbling through the air.
Managing to regain his bearings, Moon-Millenniummon shook his head and growled before making a come hither motion with his claws. "Come."
The Phoenix of the South and Tiger of the West were more than happy to oblige as they rushed forward once more. Their natural weapons were quick and precise, their technique forged to perfection from countless data cycles from being on the battlefield against extinction level threats prior to the coming of humans that would be named DigiDestined.
Zhuqiaomon slashed at Moon-Millenniummon's face, but the attack was avoided by simply floating backwards. Baihumon followed immediately afterwards and unleashed a barrage of slashes which the Evil God was forced to actually dodge should he be ripped apart. Orange then eyes widened as he saw an opening as the White Tiger Sovereign pounced with fangs poised to bite down on his throat.
"Bad kitty!" The Virus Digimon made time stop for the White Tiger with a laugh. Golden eyes widened the Virus Digimon lashed out with a swift uppercut that had the Tiger of Steel seeing stars for a brief moment, his lower jaw meeting the upper one with resounding 'clack'. The force of the blow was enough to send the feline Digimon skyward, but the golden eyed Sovereign quickly managed to utilize the momentum of the strike to go into a backflip. His paws planted themselves firmly against Zhuqiaomon's talons as the avian Digimon was ready to receive his feline comrade.
"Go!"
"Iron Armoured Claws!" Baihumon roared as he pushed off of the phoenix's talons at a terrifying pace. Moon-Millenniummon raised his claws and interlocked them with Baihumon's to effectively halt the Steel Tiger's rush attack. A shockwave raced out from the force of the collision, but a smirk suddenly formed on the feline Digimon's face as he took a deep breath.
"Kongou!" The Tiger of the West unleashed a powerful roar and silvery-white waves of energy erupted from the feline Mega's throat. Moon-Millenniummon had immediately formed a wormhole behind him to escape before popping out in a completely separate location. Orange eyes narrowed in annoyance as his shadow-like arms were immediately turned into rusted steel. The coating began to spread up the Digimon's body, but suddenly a blue shine encompassed his body. Electricity began to spark from his metallic limbs which forced him to look up in time to see the oncoming blast of lightning from the Azure Dragon of the East.
"AURORA FORCE!" The bolt of lightning fashioned itself into the likeliness of its user before roaring as it made chase with the Evil God Digimon. Moon-Millenniummon turned around in midair before opening a rip in the fabric of space, forcing the electrical projectile to enter it. Pointing a metal-encased claw directly at Ebonwumon, the Virus Digimon opened an exit portal for Azulongmon's attack to exit out of in order to strike the Black Turtle of the North.
The dragon of lightning descended from above towards the incarnation of Water, but the right head began to chuckle. "You really think somethin' like tha' would be enough to stop Azulongmon's attack, do ya?!"
"Think again, ya damned bastard!" The Scottish accent of the turtle deity echoed throughout the void as the lightning dragon veered sharply in its course and headed straight back towards Moon-Millenniummon. Orange were wide with surprise, but a look of realization suddenly appeared as he glanced down at the sparking rusted metal that was now slowly creeping up his neck and down his chest.
"Smart...but I'm smarter." Moon-Millenniummon's heads suddenly detached from the parts of its torso that were not yet coated in rusted steel just as the Aurora Force roared, biting down on the abandoned body with a brilliant boom of thunder and an explosion of lightning.
The villainous Digimon chuckled as he reformed his body. "So close...yet no cigar."
"Desolation Blast!"
Moon-Millenniummon turned his head upwards in time to see a barrage of monstrously large fireballs descending towards him with a flap of Zhuqiaomon's wings. Given that he had taken on the form of his original body, the cannons of Machinedramon that were attached to his shoulders were now accessible to him. The Evil God Digimon aimed the cannons skyward, the loud hum of energy charging within the barrels giving him a bit of nostalgia of battles long past.
He then fired twin beams of golden energy that struck a fireball head on, generating a powerful explosion in the process. The Virus Mega then adjusted his body to allow the beams from his cannons to arc through the air and make contact with all the fireballs that were aimed at him. The battleground was then decorated with a deafening explosion of crimson fire that obscured the Phoenix of the South from view.
Taking advantage of the explosion, said phoenix flew through the explosion at a rapid speed with talons of flame poised to rip apart his body.
"Gotcha!" Moon-Millenniummon grinned toothily as he raised a clawed hand.
"Mugen!"
Zhuqiaomon's eyes widened as time paused around him as his space-time manipulating target lashed out with a strong swipe of his claws. Space and time tore along with Zhuqiaomon's throat, but the moment that occurred, the world around the dark Digimon exploded into pixels revealing it to all be an illusion. Ebonwumon was the one standing before him, the light in his crimson eyes dying away as the illusionary technique was cancelled in favour of a more destructive attack.
"Souryuuha!" The twin blasts of pressurized water rocketed out of the Turtle of the North's mouths, crashing into the evil Digimon's chest and sending him flying back a considerable distance. "Azulongmon!"
"Right!" The largest of the four Sovereigns slithered through the air towards the soaked enemy, his body sparking with sapphire voltage. Said enemy was caught off-guard, expecting one of the Azure Dragon's attacks which were normally long-range in nature, but instead, the Lightning Dragon had snaked his way around the orange-eyed Mega's body like a serpent.
"BLUE THUNDER!"
A cry of pain erupted out of the Evil God's throat as a massive bolt of lightning arced out of the Sovereign of the East's horn, his body going into violent spasms as thousands of volts of electricity ripped through him.
With the enemy now momentarily paralyzed, Azulongmon quickly moved to make a hasty retreat as Fanglongmon dove down from above with a clawed forelimb shrouded in gold and black flames.
"DRAGOOOOON..." Fanglongmon reared his back, muscles contracting beneath his golden scales as he quickly neared his target. "SMAAAAAAAAAAAASH!"
A shockwave of light and darkness raced across the Void of Recluse and the very fabric of the dark dimension seemed to tear from the sheer power of the fist that dug into Moon-Millenniummon's face. Fanglongmon snarled as he felt his opponent resisting the attack. He twisted at his wrist, his attack digging even further into the cheek of his phantasmal opponent.
"LIKE HELL...WILL I LOSE..." A clawed foot snapped upwards, planting itself against Fanglongmon's stomach while a clawed hand snapped up and wrapped itself around his throat. "TO YOOOOOOU!"
Moon-Millenniummon flipped Fanglongmon around so that he was now beneath him before rearing back his clawed fist which glowed with violet-black energy. "DARK CRYSTAL!"
The powerful slash generated a loud clang that echoed across the Digital World's Hell. The Huanglong Ore did boast to be the most absolute defense for nothing, for though the Dark Crystal attack was capable of even tearing space and time, the Golden Dragon of the Centre was able to utilize a DigiCore to generate a last second defense. Due to the thinness of the shield, it was easily ripped apart and even caused a scar to form on the dragon god's underbelly as he was sent flying back, but at least he was alive.
Though the same could not be said for his comrades his arms within these next few moments.
"FANGLONGMON-SAMA!" Azulongmon cried out in alarm.
"You should be more worried for yourself, Azulongmon!" The Azure Dragon of Lightning's eyes widened as he felt a tight grip place itself around his tail. Looking down, he found Millenniummon had used the fact that his body could change in shape size at will to his advantage. Utilizing those aspects of his form, Moon-Millenniummon had lengthened his arms to reach out and grab him.
It was times like this that the Sovereign of the East realized how much being the largest of the Sovereigns was a detriment.
"Get over here!" The grip then tightened and the lightning dragon released a shout of surprise as he was drawn in. Once he was within striking range, one of Millenniummon's hands released his tail before snapping up and wrapping itself tightly around the draconian Digimon's head.
"Kongou!" Baihumon roared as he flashed into existence behind the two-headed Mega, however, before the Tiger of Steel could unleash his attack, a tightly clenched fist had struck him in the throat. The feline Digimon released a silent scream as he felt his throat go into spasm, and his eyes widened as he saw why his attack had been countered so swiftly.
Moon-Millenniummon's body suddenly appeared to branch out from the point at where his two heads joined with his torso, almost like he were composed of two entirely different Digimon.
"You in a hurry to die?" Moon-Millenniummon chuckled as his claws lashed out. "Then die!"
Three swift blows struck the purple-striped tiger in the stomach, ribs and chest in succession, the force of the attacks making Baihumon cough up a cloud of red data flakes. The Tiger of Steel's vision was then encased in darkness as he was gripped tightly by the skull before swung around in a wide arc and slammed against the side of Azulongmon's head.
The two Sovereigns released cries of pain and Fanglongmon quickly flew towards them. His gold and black aura increased in size as he roared, pushing himself to move faster than he ever thought he was capable of moving.
"I'm coming!"
The two beasts roared as panic overtook their minds. They began fighting violently to free themselves as they felt Moon-Millenniummon adjust his grip, his sharp claws shining with purple-black energy as he stabbed them into the flesh of the two digital gods.
'No. Not again.'
'The help is appreciated, but don't worry old friend...I won't need it.'
'I won't let them die. Not like you, Alchemon!' Fanglongmon's arm stretched out towards the two Sovereigns, their panicked expressions meeting his determined one. 'I won't let them-'
Time seemed to slow down for the Golden Dragon of the Centre as he was about launch an attack to save his fellow deities, but his eight eyes slowly widened as he caught the malicious grin that stretched out across the enemy Digimon's face.
"Dark Crystal." The Evil God held true to his moniker and a pulse of violet and black data was injected into the bodies of the azure dragon and white tiger. Their eyes were wide and their jaws agape as their bodies both fell limp in the Virus Mega's grasp. Invisible blades of warped space tore the bodies of the Sovereigns of the East and West, and their fellow deities could only stare in shock as they were reduced to an explosion of red pixels.
Fanglongmon could only watch as the shower of crimson seeped through his outstretched claws like sand.
"Baihumon...Azulongmon." Ebonwumon's red eyes widened, disbelief written across both his faces, but the Turtle of the North was too shocked to register the fact that the enemy Digimon had vanished from view and reappeared in front of him.
"As the wisest of the Sovereign, you should know not to let your guard down." The Black Turtle of Water had no reply, and if he wanted to utter one, he was not given the opportunity to do so as his body was torn apart by the pair of space rending slashes that ripped through his body.
"Three down..."
"YOU BASTAAAAAAAAAARD!"
"Two to go."
Moon-Millenniummon quickly had to raise his arms in defense as Zhuqiaomon rocketed towards him like a falling meteor, crimson flames burning with the intensity of a red giant star. Fanglongmon's eyes widened as he caught sight of the tear drops that sneaked their way out of the corner of the Vermilion Phoenix's eyes before a mighty shockwave of fire raced across the Void of Recluse as the Virus Mega was struck.
"ZHUQIAOMON NO!"
The dragon god's cry fell on deaf ears as his friend delivered an onslaught of fiery attacks.
"PHOENIX FIRE! CRIMSON BLAZE! DESOLATION BLAST!" Each attack generated one massive sphere of crimson destruction after the other, and if it had been a lesser Digimon, they would have most likely been deleted along with likely half of the quadrant they were living in. "DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE!" Zhuqiaomon released a cry of anguish and rage as his crimson aura blazed brighter than it had ever done before.
"YOU'LL PAY FOR IT! WITH YOUR BODY AND YOUR DIGICORE! BLAZING HELIX!"
The double of fire roared across the Void of Recluse and the entire airspace of the dark dimension rippled from the intensity of the heat before crashing into the location where Moon-Millenniummon was currently wreathed in a raging fire storm. The explosion was larger than any of the ones prior to it to the point that in completely eclipsed the others, swallowing them and adding to its already impressive size.
Zhuqiaomon panted heavily, his tears now flowing freely as he watched the burning orb that was the result of his fiery onslaught. Zhuqiaomon's emotional pain radiated to the depths of his DigiCores. He felt a powerful pulse through his body, his four orange eyes clenching tightly as he folded his wings in. It was then that the Phoenix of the South realized that the pain was not a reflection of his emotional state, but rather due to the pair of dark purple claws of shadow that now protruded out from the center of his chest.
"H-How did you..." Zhuqiaomon glanced behind him, his orange orbs gazing into the ones of his fellow Virus attribute Digimon. A golden glow washed over his body as Moon-Millenniummon activated the cannons on his back.
"Time and space are my play things...remember that."
Those were the last words the Vermilion Phoenix would ever hear before his entire body was eradicated by the twin beams of concentrated energy.
The Evil God Digimon chuckled darkly before blowing at the shower of red pixels as they floated through the vast expanse of black.
"You...You monster." A pulse of power made the entire Void of Recluse shake and orange eyes shifted in the direction of the source. Fanglonmon's body shook, his godly aura increasing in size to a point that it completely eclipsed the one that Zhuqiaomon had unleashed not too long ago.
Moon-Millenniummon's already wide grin grew that much wider as he relished in the rage of the dragon god.
"You ruthless...heartless...bastard!" The Golden Dragon of the Centre clenched his claws into tight fists as his power continued to reverberate across the dark void. Light and darkness lanced off of his body like bolts of lightning and the very fabric of space and time twisted from their intensity. "I will...make you...suffer. I WILL...MAKE YOU...PAAAAAAAY!"
Datascape, Digital World- DSN-1 Satellite Server
Belphemon snarled in annoyance as it looked at the massive orb of swirling green data that represented the CPU of the DSN-1 geostationary satellite's systems. The barrier of blue that encircled the CPU, its anti-viral protection program, was cracked heavily. Four crimson eyes stared blankly at the cracked wall before glancing behind it, looking at the five other walls that had shattered not too long ago from being forced to try and endure its might.
"Effort too much. Just want to sleep." The Sin of Sloth growled before turning back to the last wall that stood in its way. Its rage spiked the longer it stared at the wall and it took a few large steps back before dropping onto all-fours, scuffing the floor of pixels like a raging bull would as it prepared to charge the matador. The Demon Lord Digimon's body glowed with dark energy that began to concentrate around its horns, its powerful leg muscles tensing it preparation for the charge.
"LET ME SLEEP!"
"GLADLY!" Belphemon's eyes widened, its massive head turning towards the source of the shout. Flakes of navy blue data floated through the DSN-1 Server as Justimon burst forth from the egg of bio-merge digivolution before going into a series of front flips as he began to descend at a rapid pace. "JUSTICE KICK!"
Time seemed to slow down as the Vaccine Digimon stretched out its leg and drove his heel into the side of the Virus Mega. The sound of bone creaking reached Belphemon's ears as red data flakes and spittle flew from its mouth. The Sin of Sloth released a cry of pain as a powerful shockwave occurred from the impact and forty-five tons of pure force rippled throughout its skull before the blow registered with Belphemon's body. The six-winged beast tumbled across the data floor, but as it dug its claws into the surface of solidified data, BanchoLeomon blurred into its field of vision.
The crimson aura burst to life as the bipedal feline clenched its hands into tight fists.
"Burning Bantyo Punch!" The fiery energies blazed like a wildfire as its wielder delivered a powerful right jab to the cheek. The right jab was then followed by a fiery left jab and two swift hook shots that had Belphemon's head snapping side to side. "I'M NOT DONE YET! HRAAAAAAAAH!" BanchoLeomon's arms flew faster and faster as it delivered punch after punch to the Demon Lord's body and face. Even as the Sin of Sloth was sent stumbling or skidding back from the barrage, BanchoLeomon did not let up until it saw a nod from HiAndromon.
The lion Mega Digimon bent its knees as a larger aura of red sprung to life around its form before concentrating itself around the Digimon's right fist and taking the form of roaring lion head.
"Flash Bantyo Punch!" With a bestial roar, the wielder of the Otokodama channeled its momentum through its knees. The roar of crimson lion head echoed throughout the DSN-1 satellite's server space as its user jumped into the air and delivered a powerful uppercut to the underside of the Demon Lord's chin. The lower jaw met the upper one with a resounding 'Clack', and the black furred beast was lifted up several feet into the air.
"Annoying gnat!" The Sin of Pride unfurled his massive wings to regain its bearings while in the air, but the four-eyed beast was caught off-guard as it felt a tight grip on two of its wings.
"Oh no you don't!" HiAndromon shouted. The android Mega's internal mechanisms roared as its grip tightened, and with a grunt of effort, hurled Belphemon overhead to be thrown back down to ground zero. Belphemon managed to stabilize its body, landing firmly on its feet with a thundering crash, however, the it never got a chance to move any further as a heart-shaped bubble of data encased its body.
"Pretty Heart!" A predatory grin spread across MarineAngemon's face as she clapped her fins together. Immediately, the heart-shaped bubble generated a great deal of implosive force. The Demon Lord roared as it spread its arms and legs in an attempt to withstand the pressure being exerted on its body, and MarineAngemon's manic expression became one of surprise mixed with annoyance.
"DIE!"
"NEED TO FINISH!" Belphemon roared and MarineAngemon grunted as she continued to feel the Demon Lord's resistance. "NEED TO GET OUT! NEED TO FINISH! NEED TO SLEEP!"
Belphemon roared and the powerful shockwave generated rattled the heart-bubble and disrupted the data that comprised its structure. Crimson eyes shone with power as emerald flames and violet lightning burst forth from the Sin of Sloth's body. The Gift of Darkness and Lightning Horn attacks were released simultaneously which effectively reduced the heart bubble to mere flakes of data.
"DARK HORN!" A burst of violet energy cloaked the Demon Lord's body, focusing more prominently around its horns as it dropped into all-fours and charged.
"THUNDERCLAP!" Justimon appeared in front of the raging behemoth of a Digimon, rearing back the Trinity Arm as it converted into the Accel Arm form. With a resounding battle cry, Justimon lashed out with a devastating palm strike that slammed into the black furred beast with shockwave-generating force. The Vaccine Digimon released a gasp of surprise as his attack did very little to reduce the Demon Lord's momentum and so he was forced to dig his heels in, pixels of data flying every which way as he was pushed back by the physically superior Digimon.
"Go to sleep! Go to sleep! Go to sleep!" Justimon chanted those three words like a mantra as he delivered a furious barrage of quick punches with his normal arm, but the Demon Lord remained unaffected.
"GNAT!" Belphemon bellowed and Justimon was forced to grip onto the beast's massive head when the sheer speed of the Demon Lord's charge lifted the Vaccine Digimon's feet off of the ground.
"Just die already!" Justimon's tenacity proved to be quite great, for even as he was about to be sent through the air, he fought to keep his flailing body from tumbling through the air. His arm muscles contracted tightly to pull himself a bit closer while raising the Trinity Arm high into air, converting it into the Critical Arm.
"VOLTAGE BLADE!" The orange energy blade burst to life with a snap-hiss that was reminiscent of a lightsaber's activation, and with a resounding roar, Justimon brought the weapon down. Belphemon released a roar of pain as the blade speared directly through one of its four eyes, but the incarnation of rage proved to be quite a monstrous enemy as violet lightning sparked from its horn.
"LIGHTNING HORN!" The bolts of purple lightning lanced off of the raging monster's horns and struck Justimon head on. Numerous volts of electricity flowing through Justimon's body sent it into an almost epileptic fit which in turn caused the Voltage Blade to deactivate.
"Guh." The Hero of Justice Digimon gasped as the full frontal assault of Belphemon's charge finally made contact with his body before being knocked aside like an empty bottle on the side of a highway. Justimon rolled with the fall, utilizing his momentum to climb to his feet before converting the Critical Arm into the Blitz Arm. "NO!"
A bombardment of electrical blasts fired from the Blitz Arm and the other Tamers did what they could to try and stop the incarnation of rage. HiAndromon fired off laser bursts, missiles and bullets, while BanchoLeomon sent off arcs of crimson energy from its sword. MarineAngemon formed a series of heart-shaped barriers in front of the Demon Lord's target, but it was all for naught.
Belphemon was angry. Angry at being woken up. Angry at being forced to perform a task it did not wish to do yet somehow felt the urge to finish. Angry at being inhibited in its task. All of these factors contributed to the immeasurable rage that constantly fueled its form and made its rampage nigh unstoppable.
"GIFT OF DARKNESS!" Belphemon's muscles tensed up before giving itself one final push as its claws were wrapped in a storm of green fire. It reared back both arms before swinging them down in an X-shaped manner, and the fiery slash ripped through the already weakened firewall that surrounded the core of the DSN-1 satellite's CPU.
Time seemed to slow down from the point of view of the Tamers as a spiderweb of cracks stretched across the entire firewall's defense. Within those cracks, veins of Belphemon's fire flowed before a powerful explosion rocked the Datascape. The firewall turned into a shower of blue, green and red pixels that dissipated into thin air. The Sin of Sloth rose back to its full height, its wings outstretched as it released a roar of victory.
Crimson eyes turned orange for a split second before what looked like a miniature version of Moon-Millenniummon's phantasmal form emerged from the centre of the beast's chest.
"You did well my pet. You have earned your rest." The portion of the Evil God Digimon's data patted Belphemon on the head, and the Rage Mode of the Sin of Sloth suddenly felt a wave of lethargy wash over it. In a pulse of violet-black energy, the twenty-foot titan shrunk in size to become the miniature sleeping goat kid it had been prior to awakening before being pulled into a void of blackness.
"MILLENNIUMMON!" Justimon's anger and killing intent was paramount as he glared at the ghostly representation of his sworn enemy. The two-headed dragon-like Digimon chuckled darkly as he hovered just outside the membrane of the satellite's CPU, a single claw raised in an almost mocking manner.
"An admirable effort, but...I win, Ryo." Millenniummon's eyes shone with a sadistic light as his claw made contact with the satellite CPU. "Now watch your world crumble."
Void of Recluse, Northern Quadrant, Digital World
Shockwaves raced out across the dark void. Flashes of golden light were accompanied by swirls of darkness as the Digital World's Hell literally was being torn apart at the seams.
If one were to have witnessed the scene before them, they would claim that they were dreaming; that they were witnessing what the apocalypse would truly be embodied as. Of course, no one would ever realistically think that such an event would be as a result of a clash between a chaotic monster with the ability to warp space and time fighting against a golden scaled dragon god.
The pair moved so quickly across the Void of Recluse that they were literally invisible to the naked eye, and even if they slowed down somewhat, they would simply appear as blurs of gold and violet-black. The clashes between the two titans then came to an end with a brilliant explosion of gold and black encircling a warp in space that occurred as Fanglongmon's Dragon Smash impacted with Moon-Millenniummon's Dark Crystal attack.
The force of explosion sent them flying back from each other before Moon-Millenniummon charged up the cannons on his back. With a roar, the Evil God fired off a barrage of energy shots at the Dragon of the Centre. The orange eyed deity snarled before zipping across the expanse of blackness, explosions of golden light trailing behind him as his enemy tried in vain to land an attack. Eventually, the dragon god got tired of running and instead came to an abrupt halt.
He growled as the attacks slammed into his scaled torso and face, but the Huang Long ore was not deemed an absolute defense for nothing. As a result, Fanglongmon was capable of tanking the barrage and his body shook with restraint as he pooled the energies of light and darkness within his body. He then reared his head back before snapping it forwards while opening his massive jaws. With a resounding roar, Fanglongmon unleashed a devastating beam of elemental destruction that easily tore through Moon-Millenniummon's attacks and the Virus Digimon was forced to end his attacks as he created a wormhole to draw in the Golden Dragon's attack.
Moon-Millenniummon quickly opened another wormhole just next to the dragon god, but Fanglongmon fell into a divebomb to avoid his redirected attack and also rush to attack his enemy.
Orange eyes shone as the Evil God Digimon roared like the beast he truly was before his twin heads melded into his torso, morphing into a shapeless blob. The blob shuddered and shook before exploding out as a herd of what looked like innumerable dragon-like heads that made Moon-Millenniummon reminiscent of a hydra. An attack coming from all angles was indeed quite a task to handle, but it was seen as nothing in the eyes of the Light and Darkness wielder.
Fanglongmon went into a series of climbs, falls, barrel rolls, loop-de-loops; basically using every single aerial acrobatic trick in the book, and then some. He did all this while also engaging in counter-attacks, slicing heads off right, left and centre like a lawnmower cutting into a field of particularly tall grass. The hydra-like heads of the Virus Digimon roared as they then swirled around the golden-scaled dragon like a typhoon of shadow before solidifying into a tightly compressed sphere that aimed to squeeze down and crush him.
"GRAAAAAAAAH!" The sphere shook as the roar of the angered dragon god generated a powerful shockwave. A spiderweb of cracks raced across the surface of the ebony sphere with rays of light and shadow poking through said cracks. Fanglongmon roared as he shattered his prison before vanishing from view in a flicker of light and shadow.
Moon-Millenniummon's head reverted back to its original twin-headed state and orange eyes then shifted as a flash of gold appeared in his peripheral vision. Fanglongmon bared his fangs in the form of a ferocious snarl as his enemy's eyes widened. His claws clenched into tight fists and light and shadow sprung to life around them.
"DRAGON SMASH!" Moon-Millenniummon released grunts of pain as three swift blows struck him in what would have been his lower abdomen, his stomach and his heart as spears of light and darkness tore through-and-through with each successful strike. The tyrannical Digimon's eyes then widened as the tips of Fanglongmon's claws then tipped the opposite area of his chest that didn't have a gaping hole in its. With a snarl, Fanglongmon curled his claws inwards and a powerful rendition of the one-inch punch reverberated through the Evil God's body with shockwave producing force.
The Virus Digimon would have been sent flying through the air for much longer than he should have been, but he was brought to an abrupt halt as his skull was caught in a clawed grip so tightly that a lesser Digimon's head would have been crushed if their neck hadn't already snapped from the whiplash.
"You're not getting away that easily!" Fanglongmon's eyes shone with power alongside his eleven DigiCores as the elements of earth and light swirled to life within his palm, concentrating into a tight sphere. It was idea that had come from seeing a certain shinobi perform a certain ninjutsu in action once before.
"OUKAI!" The natural disaster level attack burst forth as a raging vortex of golden yellow that sent Moon-Millenniummon spiraling across the void, but the Mega Digimon was able to recover as the DigiCore within his form-less body pulsated. Time reversed for the shadow-like substance and Moon-Millenniummon was reborn with an angry snarl on his face.
"You're pathetic for getting so angry over such weak filth as the Sovereigns. The fact that they fell as easily as they did when I got serious shows just how useless they were as deities."
"You don't get to make such remarks when you haven't even had the opportunity to be a deity like they have!"
Moon-Millenniummon growled, the verbal blow obviously hitting a sore spot for the reality-warping Digimon. With a snap of his claws, time paused for a brief moment and from Fanglongmon's perspective, it seemed as if his opponent had vanished and reappeared in front of him in the blink of an eye.
"Dark Crystal!" A series of slashes tore themselves across Fanglongmon's scales, sparks flying through the air with each successive strike before large clawed hands wrapped themselves around Fanglongmon's throat and positioned him in a position beneath Moon-Millenniummon. "This is just as you should be, almighty dragon god. Beneath me."
The Dragon of the Centre roared as Moon-Millenniummon fired the shoulder cannons of Machinedramon and the twin beams washed over Fanglongmon's head with a terrifying intensity. Moon-Millenniummon grinned widely as his claws then began to glow with violet-black energy, stabbing themselves into Fanglongmon's Huang Long ore scales. As he was being distracted by the continuous beam of energy from his shoulder cannons, the Golden Dragon of the Centre was all but completely helpless as he felt his scales being pierced through. Red flakes of data flowed through the Void of Recluse, but the mighty deity would have none of it.
"FANG OF THE EMPEROR!" Fanglongmon's eyes snapped open and he fought his way out of Moon-Millenniummon's grip to then pull the evil Digimon down before clamping his powerful jaws down on one of the shoulder cannons and tearing it off in one swift motion. The moment he did however, his opponent delivered a powerful slash. Fanglongmon released a gasp of pain as five large gashes of red data flakes bled through his torn scales and he reacted on pure base instinct to unleash a beam of concentrated light and darkness from his jaws to send his opponent flying back and gain some breathing room.
"Wh-What...What the..." The eight-eyed dragon panted heavily as he glanced down at his wounded body. His DigiCores pulsated rapidly as they transferred data into the open wounds and sealed them shut before regrowing the Huang Long ore scales. "I...You...You wounded me?!"
"Hehehehe." A laugh so dark that it actually sent a shiver down the dragon's spine echoed throughout the Void of Recluse. "That's the thing about an absolute defense, Fanglongmon. It doesn't exist."
Moon-Millenniummon then charged forwards once more at a breakneck pace. Fanglongmon stared at the oncoming Virus Digimon, his shock still evident, but his mind quickly kicked his DigiCores back into focus as he shook his head before unleashing a roar of defiance. A blast of light and darkness ripped across the Void of Recluse, but the target Digimon snaked his way around the attack before clasping his claws above his head and crashing them down upon the dragon god.
Fanglongmon rocked back from the blow, but he quickly ducked beneath the follow-up slash before spinning around and crashing his thick, heavy tail against the side of Millenniummon's face. The Dark God spun with the blow, but the rear appendage of the Golden Dragon wrapped itself securely around one of the orange-eyed Digimon's necks. The second head snarled and activated the lone energy cannon that remain active on its back, but as the beam was fired, Fanglongmon swung his tail to pull Moon-Millenniummon down, diverting the beam to fire aimlessly into the void before firing a blast of shadow that tore the cannon apart. Going with the momentum of his actions, Fanglongmon bit down on the second head of Moon-Millenniummon and tore it off and causing the lone head to release a cry of pain as red data flakes exploded from the neck stump.
"Bastard!" Moon-Millenniummon snarled as his DigiCore pulsed and space warped around his body as he escaped Fanglongmon's grip when the dragon god was forced to release him in order to save his tail. Now free, Moon-Millenniummon lashed out with a series of slashes that were now causing wounds to decorate the orange eyed deity's body, but Fanglongmon grunted as he endured the strikes before managing to see an opening and counter with a burst of shadow energy that then allowed him to follow-up with a destructive tail smash coated with golden light.
The two Digimon snarled before rushing one another.
"DARK CRYSTAL!"
"DRAGON SMASH!"
The two attacks collided with their respective targets and a powerful explosion of light and darkness occurred in tandem with a rip in the fabric of space-time. Both Digimon released cries of pain as red data flakes exploded into their fields of vision. Fanglongmon hovered back as he looked down at the stump that was once his right forelimb and Moon-Millenniummon watched as the left half of his torso was now reduced to nothing.
"This has gone on long enough, dragon god." Millenniummon snapped his claws and time stopped for a brief second. Against deity level Digimon, pausing time was never a very viable option since their levels of power would easily be capable of overriding the effects of the time stoppage. As a result, it was far less useful when compared to spatial warping. In this case however, that millisecond was more than enough time to break through Fanglongmon's guard and Moon-Millenniummon turned into a serpentine monstrosity that wrapped itself around Fanglongmon's body as tightly as it could. It restrained the Golden Dragon's three remaining limbs, gritting its fangs in effort as the massive deity fought against his bindings.
With a roar, Moon-Millenniummon summoned forth spear-like tendrils from his body that arced through the air as their tips glowed with violet-black energy. The fabric of space warped and Fanglongmon's eyes widened as he felt a degree of physical pain he had not felt since the war with Yggdrasill. Entire shards of his scales floated through the dark void as the tendrils had impaled him through-and-through. To add insult to injury, one of the tendrils grabbed onto a few shards of the Huanglong Ore hurled them back towards their holder. Some embedded themselves deeply into some of the already data bleeding wounds that the dragon god now bore, but one shard had managed to stab its way into one of the mighty beast's eyes.
"It's over...Fanglongmon."
A roar of defiance echoed across the Void of Recluse and to his credit, Fanglongmon refused to back down.
'No! I won't! I can't lose!' Fanglongmon's body shook against his restrains, but it was a difficult task. His DigiCores were focusing more on regenerating his wounds, his lost limb and eye at this point.
He endured so much cycles of battle and despite his shortcomings as a deity, he had done he his best to preserve the peace and security of his Digital World. He had sweat, bled and cried in that Digital World. He had endured pain and loss in that Digital World. He had experienced joy and happiness in that Digital World. He would rather die than see it lost to the Evil God.
Fanglongmon's eyes then widened, his resistance against his bindings pausing as realization struck him like a bolt of lightning. "I see. There's no other choice in the matter it seems."
"Hmm?"
Moon-Millenniummon's eyes narrowed as a manic smile then crossed Fanglongmon's face. His bound body shook lightly as he released a soft chuckle, but that chuckle grew steadily louder and louder until it became full blown laughter. The dragon god's sudden outburst made his captor stare at him as if he were mad. Fanglongmon wouldn't blame his opponent, he would probably agree with his thought too.
Fanglongmon continued to laugh as his godly aura exploded forth like a pillar. Golden-white light and Black-purple darkness melded together in a beautiful representation of balance.
"Wh-What are you doing?!"
"Millenniummon...I am the Digital World's god and its protector! When I said I would do whatever it took to ensure its protection, I meant that in the most literal way possible!" The powers of Balance then moved inwards, concentrating themselves into the DigiCore that lay within the golden dragon's own body. As the power continued to build up, Moon-Millenniummon's eyes widened as he saw the cracks that began to appear across his opponents body. Rays of light and shadow poked through him in copious amounts to the point that the red data flakes that had been exiting his wounds were now lost from view.
"STOP! STOP THIS MADNESS, FANGLONGMON!"
Fanglongmon looked up at his captor, his seven eyes staring deeply into the four that met his gaze.
"You have taken many things from me, Millenniummon, but if I am to lose the one thing that is most precious to me...If I am to lose my precious home and the children I have come to care for...then I will do what I must. I will use this last Taikyou for them! I will use this last Taikyou for all of them! MY WILL BE DONE!"
The concentration of light and shadow increased in its intensity and Moon-Millenniummon's eyes widened as he quickly moved to untangle his body from Fanglongmon's.
"I will die as I have lived..."
A deafening silence filled the Void of Recluse and Moon-Millenniummon's eyes widened as Fanglongmon's body shattered apart like glass. The Void of Recluse, a world viewed as Hell on the Digital World, was, for a brief moment, bathed in the holy representation of balance. The infinite expanse of light and darkness bathed everything in its glow and as Fanglongmon's central DigiCore was broken down into red flakes of data, the Golden Dragon of the Centre gave a genuine smile as his head was about to break down into data flakes.
"...For my Digimon."
Caves of Infinity Mountain, File Island, Eastern Quadrant, Digital World
Elecmon had been watching over the Digi-Eggs of Primary Village ever since the responsibility was passed down to him from his predecessor many data cycles ago. He had witnessed many things in his life. He witnessed the coming of several generations of the DigiDestined. He saw the rise and fall of many evil Digimon, including the Dark Masters. He had seen the fall of many good Digimon as well, nursing those Baby Digimon to ensure they would follow the evolutionary line that would allow them to reclaim their past forms.
However, today was a day that he did not see coming at all.
Flashback
Primary Village, File Island, Eastern Quadrant, Digital World
Several hours prior
Elecmon twitched nervously, his blue eyes meeting the Lightning Dragon's eyes briefly. He had met Azulongmon before, after all, this was the Azure Dragon's quadrant.
The other three though...
"No need to be nervous, Elecmon."
"Forgive me, Azulongmon-sama, but I don't believe that the four Sovereigns of the Digital World gathering at once in Primary Village spells good news."
"Perceptive." Elecmon's ears twitched at the booming voice of the Phoenix of Fire. His sarcasm was paramount.
The lightning using Digimon immediately obeyed, his blue eyes meeting the orange ones of the deity Digimon. "How can I be of service to you all?"
"A great threat has reared its head in the Digital World once more, Elecmon." Azulongmon stated. "The threat is far too great for even a DigiDestined to handle as the opponent is far too powerful, wielding abilities that can bend the very fabric of reality. Thus, it is up to us, the protectors of the Digital World, to take up arms and fight."
Elecmon stared in shock at the azure dragon's words before looking around the Primary Village. "Will...Will the Digital World survive?"
"We will do our best to ensure such an outcome." Baihumon replied.
"...You are speaking in vague terms, Baihumon-sama." The Rookie level Digimon swallowed the lump that suddenly formed in his throat as something clicked in his mind. "Wait...don't tell me..."
"Your skills of perception are indeed great, Elecmon." Azulongmon chuckled.
"HOW CAN YOU LAUGH AT A TIME LIKE THIS, AZULONGMON-SAMA?!" Elecmon shouted, his feather-like tails fanning out in anger. "YOU CAN'T COME TO PRIMARY VILLAGE, DROP THIS SORT OF A BOMB ON ME AND LAUGH ABOUT IT! THE DIGITAL WORLD NEEDS YOU! ALL OF YOU!"
"Ya speak the truth, lad." Ebonwumon's right head nodded.
"Aye, tis true the Digital World will always needs its protectors, but unfortunately, we may not be able to provide that protection this time." The left head of the Turtle of the North sighed. "Primary Village will be under threat the moment things go south, and so to prevent that, we will be taking preemptive measures."
"The Baby Digimon are the future of the Digital World, and also its past." Baihumon knelt down and placed an ebony claw atop one of the Digi-Eggs that were laid out across the lengthy expanse of land that made up Primary Village. A feeling of nostalgia filled the Tiger of Steel's heart, memories of his time as a Baby Digimon dragging themselves up from within his DigiCores. That nostalgia was immediately replaced with a sudden seriousness as he remembered what he had come here to do.
"When a Digimon is deleted, there is a fifty percent chance that they will be reincarnated in the Primary Village or they will be sent to the Void of Recluse. Our existence is a necessary one as the Digital World will always need the Sovereigns to exist as is the law of our existence. Unfortunately, the enemy is aware of this as well and will come to Primary Village to extinguish our Digi-Eggs the moment they appear."
"But Azulongmon-sama you will be deleted! You will die!" Elecmon shouted. "You do understand what that means?! Even if the chances of rebirth are possible, that's not something anybody wants for you! YOU CAN'T DIE!"
"Evacuate the village. Keep them safe for me." Azulongmon smiled as he reached forth with the tip of his mustache and patted the smaller Digimon the head. "You have the done Eastern Quadrant proud, and I know no one better to look after them all."
"AZULONGMON-SAMA!"
"Goodbye...Elecmon."
End Flashback
Elecmon, Unimon, Meramon and Centarumon all watched from a distance as the area of land that had once been their home. The place that had been the home of many a Diigmon, was now a field of fire, smoke and ash. The roars of the Ten Legendary Warriors, ten of the most powerful Digimon to have existed in the Western Quadrant, echoed across the landscape.
The baby Digimon all huddled together. A majority of them cried for even though it was outside the realm of their understanding, they could feel something was wrong. Meramon and Unimon did their best to calm the little ones while Elecmon and Centarumon watched the blaze.
Without the Primary Village there was now no way for a deleted Digimon to ever have a chance at rebirth. That included the Sovereigns.
Such a realization was mind-shattering and Elecmon could only stare into the distance, the bright orange-yellow of the flames reflecting in his blue eyes as he knew that down there...the Digi-Eggs of the Sovereigns were no more.
Azulongmon. Baihumon. Ebonwumon. Zhuqiaomon.
They were all truly dead in every sense of the word...and there was no bringing them back.
"Maybe if I had stayed behind, maybe...maybe I could have gotten their Digi-Egss out in time. Maybe if we had worked together to figure something out we could have held off the enemy long enough to have one of us do something. Maybe we..."
The one-eyed centaur Digimon placed a hand on the blue-eyed Rookie's head, a tear falling from his red eye as he could no longer bear to watch the destruction nor the ramblings of his obviously distraught friend. Each statement the red furred Rookie made, tugged at the strings of his DigiCore, and when he saw the tears freely flowing without restraint from Elecmon's eyes...it was simply heartbreaking.
"I am...truly sorry, old friend."
Hypnos HQ- Shinjuku City, Japan, Real World
Kazu beat his fist into the ground repeatedly as Guardromon merely watched, disappointment towards himself present in his eyes.
Kenta had fallen to his knees as he held the wide-eyed MarineAngemon tightly to his chest.
Jeri cried into Leomon's chest as the bipedal lion held her, his helplessness evident by the way he tightly he held onto his Tamer.
Riley and Tally watched the current news broadcast on the monitor of the supercomputer with silent shock. They hugged each other tightly to remind themselves that they were still alive and with each other.
Yamaki glanced up at the computer screen with a deep frown present on his face. On every news station, in every language...images of the skies over every major technologically advanced country in the world, whether it was day or night, revealed the presence of giant golden vortexes lined by red, blue and green pixels.
The Digital Portals hung like ominous hands of death with the headline practically glaring at them in capitalized white letters.
INVASION FROM DIGIMON: DIGITAL MONSTERS!
"It's all my fault. It's...It's all my fault. I should have done better. I should have made better calls. I should have known what Millenniummon was up to, that he would have used the the satellites to hack the world! You said that Millenniummon was aiming for something bigger, but I was too focused on thinking that the end game for his revenge against me! I should have looked at the bigger picture, but I just...I couldn't..."
"An admirable effort, but...I win, Ryo." Millenniummon's eyes shone with a sadistic light as his claw made contact with the satellite CPU.
Those words plagued the navy blue D-Ark wielder's mind as he gripped his head tightly and fell to his knees, tears spilling forth as he could no longer withhold them. His sobs broke through and the leader of the Tamers glanced up at the head of Hypnos as the man knelt down in front of him.
No words were said.
He simply removed his sunglasses and pulled the younger boy into a tight hug and allowed him to cry.
"Now watch your world crumble."
(A/N: Yeah. Shit just got real on the Real World and Digital World side of things. I killed the gods, unless some of you were able to catch a slight detail in this chapter that kinda sorta possibly maybe might say otherwise. I'll see how good you guys are at memory if the entire plethora of fight sequences didn't shift that particular detail onto the backburner if not completely out of your minds. Lol.
Just wait till enough time passes for me to get through the Elemental Nations stuff. I got a few pretty neat ideas I have to use in terms of arcs and that's going to be my main focus in terms of plot from this point in the story, so we won't be seeing Digital World or Real World content for quite a long time. After all, you guys came here to read a story with ninja fighting Digimon, not just Digimon stuff.
Let me know how you thought the fights were and I am welcome to constructive criticism. Anyways, hoped you all enjoyed the chapter and remember to review, review, review!)
