A/N: Last part of the last chapter (other than the epilogue)! I hope you guys enjoy it. Sorry if there are any mistakes, I haven't proof read, I just wanted to get it posted.
When all the drama of the night was over, Finn was determined to just have a nice time. He wanted this night to be memorable in a good way, not because it was awful. So he walked back over to Rachel and allowed Quinn to go and say goodbye to her friends and have a nice last night in New York City.
When he reached Rachel, he put his hands round her head and covered her eyes and whispered in her ear. "Guess who? I'll give you a hint, I love you."
"Noah, I didn't know you felt that way about me." Rachel joked as she spun in Finn's arms to face him. "I love you too." She smiled and kissed his lips.
"Noah, really?" Finn raised an eyebrow when he pulled away.
"What can I say?" Rachel joked again. "Are you kidding me by the way?"
"What?" Finn asked with a confused frown.
"You went to get me a drink half and hour ago and you still haven't got it?" Rachel reminded him.
"Oh, crap!" He sighed. "Sorry I got a little preoccupied."
"Yeah I saw, what went on with Quinn?" Rachel asked with curiosity. Glad that she could finally ask and get it out of her nosey system.
"Long story. I don't want to get into it with you. Want a drink still?" Finn swiftly changed the subject.
"No I got my own, like, ten minutes ago." Rachel grabbed a glass of wine from a nearby table and sipped it.
"I'm so sorry."
"It's fine." Rachel brushed it off. "By the way, me and Kurt are really looking forward to planning this wedding."
"So am I." Finn pulled Rachel into a hug.
"You want to help plan? Really?"
"Yeah, why not?" Finn looked down at Rachel.
"It's just, I don't think you have that good taste for this stuff. I think Kurt knows move about this kind of-"
"You think I'll ruin it because of my little knowledge in weddings." Finn finished for her.
"Well... yeah." Rachel was scared of upsetting Finn. To her surprise, he just chuckled.
"That's a relief. I really didn't want to have to plan a whole wedding. Planning events is not my forte." Finn released Rachel but kept hold of her hand.
"Exactly." She agreed. "It's more Kurt's strong suit."
Finn nodded in agreement and they both laughed a little. It was like they were on the same wavelength. They always agreed and shared an opinion which is why they got on so well. The fact they had different interests though was a great example of opposites attracting.
Finn could tell already that his future with Rachel was going to be a good one!
~Later~
Finn was piling food up high on his plate from the buffet. He grabbed four chicken wings and made his way back to the table to dig in. Food was by far his favourite thing about parties. It was always incredible and there was a seemingly endless supply.
He lifted one of the wings and took a huge bite from it. It tasted delicious. As he enjoyed his food, Rachel sat down next to him with a surprised look on her face.
"Are you going to leave any food for anyone else?" She joked while she looked at his mountain of food.
"It all looked so good." He reasoned. "And I'm hungry." He looked at Rachel's plate that had a small bit of salad and a sandwich.
Kurt joined them and looked at Finn in disgust. "I'm surprised you're not obese Finn, seriously."
He was about to argue back but Rachel beat him to it. "I think his never-ending appetite is cute." She put her hand on his knee and looked at him lovingly.
"Then I don't care what Kurt thinks." Finn leaned over to Rachel to kiss her but she seemed to retreat slightly.
"You have barbeque sauce all over your lips." She told him. Kurt snorted and almost spat out the drink he had been drinking.
Finn licked his lips and asked, "Did I get it?"
"No, Finn." Rachel smirked now and Kurt was almost crying with laughter. "It's all up here." She tried to indicate on her face where it was on Finn's. Finn obviously didn't have very good coordination as he went in the opposite direction.
"Got it yet?" He asked after a few minutes. Kurt was still laughing and Rachel also looked amused.
"No but... I don't care." Rachel put her hand around Finn's neck and pulled his face towards hers. When their lips joined, they both smiled at the feeling and it quickly deepened.
When they were almost making out, Kurt's voice seperated them. "Woah, I'm still here you know."
They pulled away with an embarrassed look on both their faces. Rachel even blushed slightly at how carried away she had gotten but Kurt didn't seem to mind. When Kurt looked at them both, he burst out laughing and this time he did cry.
"What?" Rachel asked while she tried to figure out what was so funny.
Kurt couldn't answer right away because he was laughing so much. He wiped the tears from his eyes and tried to calm himself down but failed miserably. For a few minutes Finn and Rachel just had to sit awkwardly and wait until he could speak. Eventually he was able to tell them.
"Rachel, you now have barbeque sauce on your face as well, and Finn, yours it smeared everywhere."
Rachel held a hand to her face, suddenly feeling stupid. Finn grabbed a napkin and started wiping his face with it. Finn finally cleared his face of the brown sauce, leaving Rachel still trying to find where it was.
"Come here, Rachel." Finn told her as he turned her face so he could see it. She obliged and allowed Finn to sort out her face.
Finn licked the napkin and wiped over the top of Rachel's lip and the bottom of her cheek. Her face was so much softer than his which was another of the many things he loved about Rachel Berry.
"Mr. Hudson, what are you smiling about?" Kurt asked, snapping him from his reverie. Rachel was also looking at him curiously while he still held her chin and delicately wiped her face.
"Nothing." Finn released Rachel's face and picked a crisp from his plate and ate it.
"Seriously, Finny, tell us." Rachel pried as she also ate her salad.
"I wasn't smiling."
"You was!" Kurt laughed at Finn's denial. "You were smiling more than a little boy on Christmas.
"Was I? Are you sure?" Finn acted surprised at this information.
"Yes, so what was you thinking about." Rachel asked again.
"I don't remember."
"Please tell me." Rachel looked at him and pouted.
"That's not fair." Finn chuckled. "It's impossible to resist those adorable puppy dog eyes."
Rachel smirked and pulled the face again. "Please honey, I really want to know."
"Fine." Finn caved. "I was thinking about you."
"What?" Rachel asked.
"I was thinking about why I love you and it made me subconsciously smile." He repeated quietly. A little embarrassed that he had been caught and looked like a smushy idiot.
"You're a dork." Puck commented as he walked past and overheard what he had said.
"I think he's adorable." Rachel assured him while she put her hand on his knee again. She looked at him affectionately and added, "You're an adorable dork." Finn chuckled in response. An idea hit Rachel and she enthusiastically said, "You're adorkable."
"You're adorkable too." Finn smiled and leaned in to kiss Rachel. He gently pressed his lips against hers then smiled.
"I think you're both just aloserable." Puck tried to make a joke. No one laughed, they all just looked at him in silence. "You guys don't appreciate good comedy." Puck huffed as he walked away.
~Later~
Rachel accepted the congratulations of some of her old friends gracefully. Everyone who she had known in high school was shocked when they set their eyes on Finn. She could see it in their faces that they were wondering how the small, jewish, glee club nerd could have gotten a handsome, sweet and funny guy like Finn to marry her.
It gave Rachel great pleasure to walk hand in hand with Finn and watch the look of surprise that crossed the faces of her past school mates. Mates. She used that term loosely. It would be more accurate to call the past people-who-used-to-call-Rachel-names-and-occasionally-throw-slushies-at-her. But maybe calling them that wouldn't be socially acceptable.
Quinn had been going around and saying goodbye to people and telling them how she would miss them. She went around all of Finn's family but strategically missed out Rachel. For some reason, she didn't find it too surprising. In fact, it would have surprised her if she had said goodbye to her. Oh well, it didn't really bother Rachel.
As Rachel glanced around the room, she saw people talking happily, people dancing on the dance floor, and some people getting drunk out of their minds by the bar. She had tried to get Finn to dance earlier but he had told her that he really couldn't so she laid off him.
She decided to go and stand with Finn, Kurt and Blaine so she made her way across the room, thanking people for coming as she did. When she was a few steps away, there was an announcement from the band saying,
"This ones for all the couples out there tonight. Not forgetting the most important couple of the night, Finn and Rachel. Congratulations you guys."
Then a beautiful slow dance song came on. Rachel smiled to herself. There was no way Finn could deny her a slow dance. It didn't take much to be able to sway to music so there was no excuses. She stopped walking to think how she would approach Finn and ask him to dance.
She was surprised when Finn turned around and spotted her. He smiled his half smile and walked towards her.
"May I have this dance Ms. Berry?" He put his hand out for Rachel to take.
"You may." She nodded with a smile at how sweet he was. She accepted his hand and he led her to the middle of the dance floor.
Everyone moved out of the way for them so they had a circle to themselves. A few people stood and watched them with happy smiles, others carried on slow dancing around them but kept one eye on the happy couple. Finn stopped in the middle of the circle and faced Rachel.
He gently put his hands on Rachel's hips and she put her hands around his neck. It was a good job she was wearing heels otherwise she would have had to stretch up to his great height. They slowly swayed in time to the music, looking affectionately into each others eyes.
"I thought you said you couldn't dance?" Rachel reminded him. She had noticed that he was surprisingly good and smoothe.
"I had Kurt teach me how to slow dance." Finn said quietly in a sheepish tone.
"You and Kurt have been slow dancing?" Rachel tried to stifle a giggle but it didn't work and she ended up snorting.
"Would you rather me slow dance with Kurt or another woman?" Finn said defensively.
"Good point." Rachel smiled.
She rested her head on Finn's chest and he kissed the top of her head lightly. She looked up at him with a smile on her face.
"You know when you want someone to know something but you don't know how to tell them?" Rachel asked.
"What?" Finn looked down at her with a confused frown.
"I want you to know that I love you more than I've loved anything in my life," Rachel looked Finn in the eyes. "but I don't know how to prove it to you."
"The fact that you agreed to marry me is proof enough." Finn said honestly.
"Well just in case, I love you more than I love Barbra Streisand and all of the Broadway legends put together." Rachel tried to prove her love for him, even if it was a weak attempt.
"And I love you more than I love Grilled cheese sandwiches, pizza, chicken wings, and all of my favourite junk foods put together."
"That's so sweet." Rachel smiled and rested her head on his chest again. She could hear him chuckling at her and feel his chest bouncing as well.
She wrapped her arms around Finn and squeezed him. Finn kissed the top of her head again but for longer this time. Then he rested his chin lightly on her head. He could smell the fruity scent of her hair that he loved. It made him so happy to have Rachel in his arms. He wanted to savour the feeling for ever but he knew he couldn't so he just appreciated it while it lasted.
When the song ended, Finn reluctantly let go of Rachel but she still clung to him, refusing to let go. Finn looked down at the top of her head but she wouldn't even look at him, she just had her arms firmly wrapped around him.
"Rach, the song ended." He informed her, incase she hadn't noticed.
"I know."
"Then are you going to let go of me?"
"No, I don't want to. I want to hug you forever." Rachel told him, not loosening her grip at all.
Finn laughed but soon found she wasn't kidding so he had to carefully maneouvre them off the dance floor. They walked to a table and sat down together, Rachel sat on Finn's lap because there were no other seats around and she wanted to sit close to him.
"Why are you so loving all of a sudden?" Finn asked when they were settled. "Not that I don't love holding you." He added so he didn't offend her.
"You see, I love you so much and I never want to lose you. My life has been so much better ever since the day I found you." Rachel told him. A smile spread across Finn's face.
"I feel the exact same way." Finn wrapped his arms around Rachel so he was cuddling her.
"You do?"
"Would I have asked you to marry me if I didn't?"
"I don't know but I'm glad you did." Rachel put her arms around Finn's neck.
"Did I have a choice? You're the best, and once you've had the best, you can't settle for anything less." Finn nuzzled his nose against Rachel's.
"I don't know what's going to happen in the future, but whatever happens it'll be OK, because I love you and you're all I need to be happy."
"I love you."
"I love you more."
"If you say so." Finn said before closing the distance between their lips and kissing her passionately.
