Mordeson drabble
Mordecai pressed his palms against the glass of Bensons apartment window. He watched the gumball machine trash his place with a heavy heart, his boss kicking and punching anything in sight. Shaking his head, he continued to watch him, the door only a step away to the right side of the apartment door. Ever since Audrey had left him for Chuck, Benson had been a complete mess. The employees knew he had been holding in his anger the whole week, 'cause he had been really out of character and treating the employees like absolute crap. Mordecai sighed, making the glass fog up. Instead of wiping it away, he let his eyes drift over the little circle of fog and jumped back when a cushion hit the window. Mordecais palms slipped to his side and he turned where the door was. Taking a step, he grabbed the handle, and turned it. He had to duck to miss the chair leg that was thrown at him and he shut the door, his eyes not leaving Benson, who was still going at it, so freaking oblivious to his employee, the one who had skipped his day off to check up on him, standing there at the door.
Finally, after about 10 more minutes of throwing, punching and yelling incoherent words, Benson stopped and the first thing he did was look up, catching Mordecai's eyes immediately. He just started crying right there and the tears spilled down his cheeks. Hot angry pissed off tears from the breakup and from his apartment being trashed.
Mordecai stepped over the splinters of wood and fluff from the cushion of the chair and stood in front of Benson, looking at him sadly. Benson met Mordecai's eyes again and he burst into more tears, sobbing his heart out with his shoulders shaking really badly.
After forcing himself to have his heart ripped apart numerous times from seeing Benson bawl his eyes out, the blue jay bent down on his left knee, curled the fingers of his right hand into his palm, raised it and with his thumb sticking out, placed the knuckle of it on Bensons chin. Ever so slowly, he lifted it up and their gazes locked. Mordecai waited for Bensons tears to stop flowing and his shoulders to stop shaking before smiling gently and saying in the softest tone possible:
"Hey, don't cry dude. I'm here."
