He had thought that courting the hobbit would be a long affair, and he had been prepared for it. Whatever it would take to win his heart would be worth it. After what he'd done he was worthy of being Thorin's spouse and ruling beside him as his consort. And though he had no beard, he was fine to look at.
It seemed that all it took to get his heart was to give him some food and your undivided attention. Beorn stuffed his face with honey, commented on him regaining the wight that he'd lost over the quest, and constantly petted him. His hand could easily cover all of Bilbo's head. Every time he came near, Bilbo beamed.
Thorin had expected having to shower him with gold to be worthy of him. To think that it was so simple!
Well, soon enough he'd have his mountain back and his gold could buy the hobbit more than enough food. Thorin would have no problem showering him in the affection and praise that he deserved.
The bear could smile now, but the little bunny belonged in the hole of another.
