AN: this chapter changes a few things from what happened in the show and isn't exactly Hook/Captain Swan friendly. You've been warned!

He didn't know how long he was in that cage for; to him it felt like weeks, but it was possible that it was hours. What he did know was that, for whatever reason, Pan wanted him alive. After however long, he heard voices outside the cave. Whoever they were, they could rescue him, but the only way to build the bridge was to tell a secret and he wasn't sure how these people would take that.

As the four people entered the cave, he immediately recognised them. Emma! He wanted to shout to her, but he knew he should keep his mouth shut for the time being. She was accompanied by Hook and her parents. He could hear them talking from across the cave.

"So secrets then right?" Emma asked, sounding unsure.

"Aye lass. Did you want to start?"

"Erm, I think you should." She was having no nonsense and probably wanted to make sure Hook was telling the truth.

"Okay. Milah, my first love, she was Baelfire's mother."

Neal obviously already knew this but clearly Hook had not revealed this to Emma. The bridge began to form.

"So wait, you mean to tell me that you conveniently forgot to mention that the woman you loved is my son's grandmother?!"

"Well when you put it like that it sounds bad..."

"It IS bad. I can't believe I let you kiss me." This was news to Neal and he felt a pang of jealousy but knew that he was being irrational considering he had been with someone else too so he let it slide.

Snow and Charming trying to distract the situation, although both clearly uncomfortable. "I'll go next." Snow said. "I want another child." She looked at Emma. "I love you Emma, but we were separated from you at birth, we never got to see you grow up." There were tears in Snow's eyes as she spoke. "I want to have that. I want to be a mother who is there for her child." Emma gave her mother a hug as the bridge grew.

Charming looked saddened but also excited at the idea of having another child. "I can't leave Neverland. Ever. I didn't avoid the dreamshade as I should have. Hook saved me with some water, but that water means I can never leave Neverland soil or else I will die." The bridge completed it's formation as Snow looked angrily at her husband.

Emma ran over to the cage and tried hitting it with her sword.

"Emma." Neal said calmly. "That won't work. It has to be a secret." He knew why Emma wouldn't want to say anything and he knew what she was going to say. He braces himself for the inevitable pain.

"I thought it was going to be a trick. I wish it had been." Tears ran down her face but she continued. "I wish that you were dead because that would be less painful. I love you and I probably always will, but I didn't want this to be real."

The cage door opened and despite what she had just said, Neal couldn't help himself from hugging Emma.

They all exited the cave together. Emma took Neal to one side. "I'm sorry for what I said."

"I understand, Emma. I know I caused you pain, but I will never stop fighting for you." He replied passionately.

She nodded since she was overwhelmed.

"So you and Hook?" He asked. He couldn't help himself.

Emma rolled her eyes. "It was a one time thing. He had just saved my.. David" (Neal noted that she was still unwilling to call him her father.) "And you were dead and I wanted to feel good."

"You didn't owe him shit."

"I know. It's over now. If I had known about your mom though."

"That's okay. Hook and I have a very complicated past, let's just leave it at that."

The group rejoined. "So what's the plan?" Snow asked and everyone looked expectantly at Emma.

"I actually have a plan." Neal said breaking the silence. "I got off this island before, I can do it again. We need to trap the shadow."

"Mate, that would require going to the Dark Hollow and I wouldn't recommend that."

"I'm not your mate, but if you're so worried, you can join us there."

"Not quite what I meant." Hook muttered, but after his admission in the cave, none of the group were really feeling sympathy for Hook, so they said nothing. He sighed as he followed Neal and Emma to the Dark Hollow that he so desperately had wanted to avoid.

As the group walked their way to Dark Hollow, Snow and Charming hung back clearly having a chat about the secrets that had come out in the cave. The other three left them outside to discuss their issues; it was no use having them there as you had to be quiet to capture Pans shadow. Emma, Neal and Hook walked tentatively into the cave. Hook wanted to prove something and tried to light a fire since the Shadow was attracted to light, but with only one hand it proved a lot more difficult than he had expected. Luckily for the group, Neal had a lighter on him and attracted the Shadow that way. Three Shadows appeared into the darkness, but it was clear to them which one was Pans. The two other shadows tried to attack Neal and Hook, who were both flung to the ground. "Neal!" Emma shouted. She started to run to him but Pans shadow caught up with her. Neal pushed her out the way and waved the lighter in the shadows face. "Emma, now!" He screamed and Emma used the coconut to trap the Shadow. Once Pans shadow was caught, the other shadows fled. Emma looked at Neal. "You saved me."

"Well I wasn't going to let you die." She smiled at him and he felt himself glowing.

The three of the exited the cave with the coconut in tow, Hook looking rather annoyed that he hadn't been the one to save the day. Although it occurred to him that no matter what he did now, impressing Emma was out of the question.

Snow and Charming looked as though they had made up in the time that the others had been in the cave. Emma looked especially relieved that she didn't have to deal with her parents arguing. Emma looked at Neal. "Let's go get our son back." And so they headed off to do just that.
