Greetings!

This is, the final chapter of 'The Twin'.

I loved writing this, please know that, and most of all, I loved all of my dear readers, because without you guys, this story would have never made it to the end.

Now a surprise:

A sequel!

No, not involving Thor 2. I've had this planned for a while now, and hope you all join me again, when I post today, 'The Venture To Unknown'

Please go and check it out on my profile!

Happy reading!

I stood against the wind on this bright and sunny day along with some of the most extraordinary people that I had to bid farewell to.

There we all stood, ready to say goodbye, Loki's mouth was covered (I couldn't be the only one who was relieved) Thor was ready to take him back to Asgard, and we were all going our separate ways. I was kind of sad, even though I hardly knew any of them well enough, but I'm pretty sure saving the planet from a psychopath is great for bonding, right?

Tony sported a white suit, almost as blinding as the sun, wearing shades leaning on his fancy car. We had already 'chatted' if that's what you want to call it, but I wouldn't exactly classify him telling me to stay away from Texas because of the freak tsunami that happened there conversing.

Steve was just in casual cloths, same as me and Emily, more there for symbolism than actual will.

I had shook hands with Natasha and Clint, since me and Emily were off to Europe to go to university there and I probably wouldn't see them again for a long time.

Bruce also looked like he didn't want to stand in the city he had helped destroy, but just like Steve, it would just seem odd for him not to show.

Thor seemed all business, and to be honest he still kind of freaked me out, so I had just given him a quick nod that he returned.

Emily was standing right by me, fidgeting because we had to catch a plane, but I paid her no mind. Thor said he was taking Loki back to Asgard, and I wouldn't miss that for the world.

All this time, I never really pondered about where they came from. Thor had claimed he was Asgardian and from another world, but I just couldn't believe him unless I saw it with my own eyes. I wanted to really know if he was going to another 'realm' as he said. I needed to know if there were other places in this universe, that we humans had just never seen before.

Thor held out the tesseract to Loki, which was also going back to Asgard out of The Avengers approval and the governments dismay, but Fury didn't say anything so we didn't say anything. Loki glared at his brother for a second, then grabbed it as well and turned it.

Right before my eyes, there was a blinding flash of blue, and once I regained my sight, they were gone.

Loki. Thor. The tesseract.

Gone.

It's like they never existed.

I waved goodbye to the people around me, who had more or less tolerated me for the time that we knew each other, then I hopped into Emily's rented car and we were off to the airport.

I gazed out the window in a trance, watching people spray paint 'Avenger' on street walls. I saw people being interviewed on their views of us. I watched as people recognized me from the television clips they managed to get from streetlamps, and they waved.

I waved back and smiled.

We arrived, and I felt bad for leaving, but knew I had to have a semi-normal life for a bit. I wanted to finish University, and it was my choice to do so. It was the right thing to so.

I grabbed my luggage and pulled it through the door. I didn't have many belongings, so it wasn't that heavy.

My mind drifted back to the helicarrier. Who's going to sit beside Joseph now?

Oh no.

I forgot to say goodbye to Joseph!

A wave of misery washed over me. I fumbled for my phone, and checked to see if I had his number. Then I also remembered something he once said to me;

"I never carry a phone because it's distracting. I would be too busy playing Angry Birds and not get any work done."

I put I back in my pocket and sighed. I guess not. When would I see him again?

Would I see him again?

I shook my head and emptied my pockets going through the metal detector. I stood, and they pushed me by without a problem.

Emily noticed my distracted expression. "Is something wrong?"

"No," I shook my head and got onto the plane.

It was for the best.

Even I could see that.

A bright streak of lightening illuminated the sky, and it was closely followed by an earth-shaking thunder clap.

I looked up from the book I was reading to stare at the rain that was clawing at the window. I put in a book mark and walked to it, studying the loud storm outside.

Over the sound of the storm, I could hear Emily's snores in the next room. I smirked. She can sleep through anything.

I looked at the clock. It was well over midnight, but I had a test tomorrow that I needed to study for. I sighed and turned off the lamp I was reading by.

Another flash of lightening, and it threw shadows across the room.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a figure.

I looked directly at it, but was too late. I stared hard, watching for movement or something.

When the next flash came, no one was there.

"I need to get some sleep," I rubbed my eyes and muttered to myself.

I couldn't shake the feeling of being watched, even though as I looked around again, no one was there.

I jumped as the phone rang, too loudly for this time of night.

I lunged for it, wondering what stupid telemarketer would be on the other line.

I yanked it off the receiver. "Do you have any idea what time it is-"

"Yes, I know full well, Robertson."

I froze. That sounded oddly familiar.

"Hello?" He asked, seeing if I was there in an impatient tone.

"Um, yes! Hello. Is that you, Director Fury?" I inquired. It had been a few months since the New York attack. What was wrong now?

"Yes. Glad you clued in. Now, listen very carefully, there isn't much time-"

He was interrupted by another loud thunder clap, and I saw the figure again just in the side of my vision.

My head whipped around, but no one was there.

"-are you listening?"

I jumped at his voice. My hand and voice were trembling as I responded. "I can't hear you."

"What is going on over there?"

"I don't-"

A loud booming cut me off once again.

"If we don't stop it-"

"I can't understand you-"

"-Thor-"

"What about Thor?" I was getting even more panicked. The line was going fuzzy, but his voice was urgent enough for me to strain my ears and try to listen.

"Killing millions. You have to-"

There was a lot of static.

Enough for me to believe someone, not just the weather, was tampering with our signal.

"Sir! I can't hear you!"

"Death of. . . Space . . . No help. . ." Fury's voice was getting fainter.

I gave up trying to tell him I couldn't understand, because he obviously couldn't hear me.

"It may . . .Already be too late-"

Then the line went dead.
