This is my first scandal fic. I hope you like it.

A/N President Fitz Grant had been in office for one year. He is popular and driven. However, his personal life is a mess. His wife is cheating on him with the Chief of Staff of his Vice President, Sally Langston. While he could care less if his wife strays since they have been estranged for years, but he still doesn't want the world to know. They have kids and it's hard enough for them to be living under the shadow of the White House without bringing divorce into the equation. Unfortunately, someone else has discovered her secret and is sending him incriminating information.

Chapter 1 - Not so Secret

The last few hours led to a whirlwind of activity that he could have done without. Finding out what Mellie had done was not only painful, but it could ruin his presidency. A myriad of thoughts converges in his mind. What the hell had she been thinking? Did she do this on purpose to hurt him? While things weren't the best between them, he never thought she'd stoop this low to prove a point.

"Cyrus, come in," Fitz said motioning to his Chief of Staff.

Cyrus took a deep breath and sat. Anyone looking at him from the outside would see a stressed-out man who looked older than he actual years. As much as he loved the game, his foray into the political arena had resulted in long hours, some early hair loss, and addiction to Tums. With the way things have been going lately, he'll be bald by the time Fitz left the office. "I watched the tape. How do you want to handle this?"

Fitz paced in front of the window as his fingers rake through his hair. "This is really bad, Cyrus. This can't get out!"

Cyrus stared at him for a moment. Sometimes, he hates his job and watching that video was right up there with the things he never wants to do again. "Have you considered that letting it come out and exposing her would probably end up improving your approval ratings?"

Fitz turned to look at him. "Of course I have, but there is no guarantee that I'd come out on top of this. Besides, I don't want the kids to know."

Cyrus closed his eyes and let his head drop back before replying. "Fine, I know of this woman who's in crisis management. With your permission, I can have her here tonight."

Fitz's eyes narrowed. "That sounds rather cryptic. What exactly is crisis management?"

"She's a fixer. You have a problem, she fixes it. She's very good at what she does and is very discrete. I can't think of anyone else who can make this go away quietly."

It's like having an app for everything, he thought to himself. "Fine, I trust you. Do what you have to do."

Cyrus rose from the couch and left the room as he dialed his phone. "Olivia, I need to see you at the White House. How soon can you get here?" He finished making the arrangements and headed back to his office to make preparations for her arrival.

Olivia Pop scanned the outer office as Cyrus's secretary knocked on the door. She is more than eager to find out what was going on. For Cyrus to call her to the White House meant that whatever had gone wrong was major which is the kind of situation she lives for.

"Sir, Olivia Pope to see you."

"Send her in."

Cyrus stood as she approached him. "Olivia, it's nice to see you again."

Cyrus had used Olivia one other time to help out a senator who got into some trouble. He hasn't seen her since then, but he is very fond of her.

"So, I'm intrigued and you have my full attention," she said before sitting across from him.

"Well, we have a big problem," he said.

She smirked. "I didn't think you invited me here to catch up on old times."

He sucked in a deep breath. "I guess I'll just spit it out then. Mellie is having an affair and a video was sent to us by an anonymous source. There has been no more communication as of yet."

Olivia wasn't too caught off guard. It takes a lot to surprise her these days. Washington has a way of dulling your senses. "I see. May I have it?"

Cyrus clenched his jaw which didn't go unnoticed and then yanked open his top drawer and made a face when he dropped a USB drive into her hand.

She put it in her purse and stood. "Obviously, you will let me know if you receive any other packages or phone calls."

Cyrus nodded. "So, how have you been?" he asked before she could retreat.

"Very busy. It's amazing how much trouble people get into in this city."

He chuckled. "I can only imagine."

"I better go. I want to get started on this. The sooner we squash it, the better."

Olivia headed towards the door and when she was halfway there, it flung open and she held her breath when her gaze lands on the President. She wasn't expecting to meet him this go round.

They stared at each other for a long moment.

Fitz spoke to Cyrus without taking his eyes off of her. "I'm sorry, Cyrus. I didn't realize that you had company."

Cyrus moved towards them. "Fitz, this is Olivia Pope. I spoke of her earlier."

"Nice to meet you," he said holding out his hand.

She smiled and slowly placed her hand into his.

"Crisis management huh?"

"Yes, never a dull moment," she said finally breaking eye contact. "Well, I'll get back to you both soon." She smiled and then brushed past him.

Cyrus returned to his desk, but Fitz just stood there and watched her walk away until she had turned the corner. Her beautiful eyes were burned into his brain and the way her hips moved when she walked took his breath away. He quickly grabbed the handle and closed the door before Cyrus noticed his distraction.

Once she had reached the elevator, Olivia finally took a deep breath. She was almost mortified that she had such a physical reaction to the President. The admiration seemed to be mutual and she knew that she needed to keep this as professional as possible. They didn't need another scandal.

She drove back to the office. It was late and everyone had gone for the day. Slipping the flash drive into her computer, she sat back and watched the video. As Mellie's partner came into view, she is shocked to see Billy Chambers kissing the First Lady. If this got out, a lot of people could get hurt. She just wasn't sure where to start to make this go away.

President's Bedroom

Fitz entered his room and found Mellie sitting on the bed.

"I really don't want to talk to you right now," he said staring at her coldly.

"I don't care. You need to hear what I have to say," she said firmly.

He pounded his hand on the desk. "You don't get to dictate when I speak to you after what you did!"

Her laughter made him wince. "I had sex with someone else—so what. It's not like you've wanted to touch me during the last century."

"Did you even stop to think about what this would do to the kids?"

She glared at him. "Wow, it must be nice to sit on your little throne and be all judgmental. Let me set something straight, I'm not leaving. I will not agree to a divorce and I will not stand here and get lectured by you after all I have sacrificed."

Fitz interrupted her before she could continue. "I don't want to hear about your damn sacrifices. Your behavior could end my presidency and screw up our kids for years to come. I didn't lay you down on his bed and open your legs. You did that."

"I will not leave," she growled as her jaw clenched tightly.

"I never asked you to," he said exasperatedly.

She stared at him for a moment. There has to be another angle because he doesn't want a divorce. The last thing she expected would be that he would want to continue their farce of a marriage.

"I have decided to try and clean up this mess and continue as though nothing happened. Hopefully, our kids and the rest of the world will never know what you did. Our marriage will be for the sake of convenience, but when the cameras are around, you will look at me like I am the love of your life. And if you can't keep your legs closed going forward, at least have the common decency to make sure that you're in a secure location first."

It is clear by his hostile expression that if she says anything else, it will probably push him over the edge, so she quietly strode into the hallway feeling as if she won that round.
