Chapter: 1

As Haley was walking around the apartment that she and Nathan used to share, she thought about when the things in her life had gone wrong. The thing that kept popping up in her mind was the fact that after all this time of him being gone she was still married to him, she was content with this before, but not now that he was moving back to Tree Hill. Lucas told her earlier that day, but she still couldn't believe that after all this time she would finally see him, and she didn't know just how she felt about that.

~FLASHBACK~

Haley was laying on her bed when she heard her front door open and close.

"Hales you here?" Lucas called from the front door.

"In my bedroom Luke! Come on in!" Haley shouted in response.

When Haley heard Lucas walk into her room, she stood up and jumped into his arms.

"Hey BIL! How are you?" She asked cheerfully.

"I'm good Hales. I'm good. How are you?" He said with a fake smile and fake enthusiasm, he hoped that Haley didn't hear it in his voice.

"Well now I know something is wrong. Spill what is it?" She asked as she sat back down on her bed.

"I have no idea what you are talking about Hales."

"Yeah right! With that fake smile and all that fake enthusiasm you could start a cheerleading squad. NOT! Now spill what's up?"

"Well it's a good thing you are sitting down already…" He started but quickly stopped once he saw the look on Haley's face.

"Why would I have needed to sit down, even though I am already sitting? Come on Luke just spill it already." Haley said now a little flustered and nervous as she started playing with her pinkie ring.

"IjustwantedtotellyouthatNathaniscomingbacktoTreeHillIdidntwantyoutobesuprisedwhenyousawhimwalkingaround." Lucas said in one breath like ripping off a Band-Aid.

"I just wanted to tell you that Nathan is coming back to Tree Hill, I didn't want you to be surprised when you saw him walking around." Lucas said calmly and saw that all of the color had drained from her face.

"Hales you ok? Say something!" Lucas shouted but didn't get any response. "Hales! You still with me?!"

"Luke I really need to be alone right now to process this, you should go." She said in a weak voice.

"Ok but call me later so that I know you're ok." Lucas said as he walked out of her apartment.

~END OF FLASHBACK~

She still hadn't gotten over the news and that was over four hours ago. She didn't know what she was going to do, but the one thing that she did know is that she wasn't going to hide just because he was coming back, he left her not the other way around. She knew she still loved him and that she would never stop but she didn't know how things were going to be now that he was coming back. Over the last four years she had been teaching which, was something that she loved. In High School she had tutored kids and it made her feel amazing, but now she was teaching a whole classroom. Things were a lot different then she thought they would be. She once thought that her and Nathan would go to Duke together then start a family after they graduated, but of course that didn't happen because he left her. Over the years the fact that Nathan never asked her for a divorce had bugged her to no end. She remembered the day that everything had changed for her and Nathan.

~FLASHBACK~

Haley was sitting on the couch in their living room when Nathan busted through the door (Not literally he was just really excited)

"Hales! You are never gonna believe this! I just got the most amazing news!" Nathan exclaimed.

"What is it Nate?" Haley asked as she got up and walked over to her husband, and gave him a kiss. "Hi by the way."

"Hey Hales." He said kissing her back.

"Now what is it that I'm not going to believe?"

"I can go back to High Flyers this summer before I head off to College! I am so excited what do you think?"

Haley did know how she felt about it, because they had planned to spend this time before College together, but she didn't want to make him feel like she was holding him back and she was proud of him.

"Nate that's great! I am so happy for you, and I am very proud of you. When do you leave?"

"Hales are you sure about this? I don't want you to feel like you have to let me go."

"I'm sure. Nate this is an amazing opportunity for you, you can't let it slip away, and I want you to take it. I love you and am so proud of you."

"Thanks Hales! I love you. I'm gonna go tell Luke!" Nathan said running out the door.

'You never told me when you were leaving.' Haley thought to herself.

A week and a half later at the River Court:

"We are no longer High School students can you believe it!" Brooke said.

"I know it feels like it was just yesterday that Hales and I were on the rooftop of the café playing mini golf our sophomore year." Said Lucas.

"So Nate when do you leave for High Flyers?" Skills asked.

"I leave Friday and come back the eighteenth of August." Nathan said, his voice sounding like he was far away.

"Nate where did you go just now?" Haley asked.

"I was just remembering the day that I finally thought that things were actually going to be ok."

"What day might that be?" Payton asked

"The day that Haley and I kissed for the first time." Nathan said

Friday:

Haley didn't know how she was going to tell Nathan her news, it was an hour before he had to leave, so she knew she had to tell him now.

"Hey Nate?"

"Yeah Hales." Nathan said as he came out of their bedroom with his duffel bag in his hand.

"I need to tell…" But before she could finish her statement there was a knock at the door.

"Hold that thought Hales. Let me get the door and tell whoever it is to go away." Nathan said as he walked to the door and opened it, and there stood Dan.

"Well hello there son and daughter-in-law of mine." Dan said with smugness.

"What do you want dad?"

"Well I just wanted to know if it was true that my son is going off to High Flyers and he didn't tell me."

"Yeah dad I am going to High Flyers this summer and I didn't have to tell you anything. Will you please leave? I would like to spend the rest of the time I have here with my wife and it not be ruined by you. Oh wait it already is!" Nathan said slamming the door in Dan's face.

It was then that Haley decided she would wait to tell Nathan the news she he came back from High Flyers, she was scared and didn't need hi worrying while he was at camp. All of a sudden she had to rush to the bathroom, she closed and locked the door behind her not a minute later there was a knock on the door.

"Hales you ok in there?" Nathan asked through the door.

"Yeah I'm fine Nate." She said loud enough for him to hear but added. "Nothing that won't go away in nine months." Under her breath.

"What was that last part I couldn't hear you?" He asked.

"I said nothing that won't go away in a few days." She said grabbing the positive pregnancy test from under the sink, she grabbed the folded box that it came in and hid it under her shirt that way Nathan couldn't see it, after she rinsed her mouth out she opened the door.

"We better get going, because the sooner that I leave the sooner that I can get back here to you." Nathan said as he hugged her into his side.

"Yeah, just give me a second to change my shirt I got a little something on it, then we can leave." She said as she walked into their room, she pulled the things from under her shirt put them under some of her clothes in a drawer. She then changed her shirt, and made her way to the living room where Nathan was waiting for her.

"Alright let's get you on that High Flyer's bus, so that you can go to camp and then come back to me." Haley said as she walked out the door. Little did she know that this would be the last time that she would see Nathan and be in the same apartment as him for a long while.

~END OF FLASHBACK~

Haley laid on her bed with her hands covering her face, she didn't know what she was going to tell Jamie. Yes he knew who his father was, but what he didn't know what that he left them because he wanted to, and that Nathan knew nothing about him. Jamie was so happy that his father was Number 23 of the Charlotte Bobcats, sometimes he still couldn't believe that his father was the famous Nathan Scott. She didn't know how she was going to tell him that is father didn't even know that he existed, but she did know that she was glad that Jamie was with Lucas's fiancé Lindsey for the day. Haley didn't think that she would have been able to deal with all of this the way she was if he had been with her today. Her thoughts were interrupted by a knock of the front door, she got up walked to the door and opened it, but she couldn't see who it was because they were facing away from her.

"Can I help you?" She asked, just as the person turned around, and she couldn't believe who was standing in front of her.
