Summary: Quattro Amore Chapter 2 What happens when Bella and Edward wake?
~Previously
"You are more than welcome to stay the night," Aro said to Edward, after noticing that the fair Bella was already asleep on his chest.
"I think that might be best," Edward said, smiling at the beauty in his arms.
Aro stood and lifted Heidi up to him, kissing her deeply.
"Thank you, my darling, for a truly pleasurable evening," he said, kissing her one more time.
"You're welcome," she said, as she kissed his lips and took his hand.
"Follow me," Aro said, turning around to look at Edward.
Edward picked Bella up in his arms and carried her with him. As he walked, Aro pointed out different things along their way and showed Edward to a room.
"You should have everything you need here," Aro said, pushing open the door to a room. Edward looked around the room to make sure everything was okay.
"I want to thank you and the lovely Bella for coming and being with us tonight. I would love for you to come back again," Aro said, reaching out to shake Edward's hand. Edward quickly slipped a hand from around Bella's body and shook Aro's hand. Aro left the room, closing the door behind him.
Once Edward was alone in the room, he walked Bella over to the bed. He pulled back the covers, placing her underneath them. Edward walked back over to the door and locked it, not wanting to find Aro standing over their bodies in the morning. Bella was right about Aro; he was kind of creepy, and Edward wasn't planning on a repeat performance with the couple. Edward crawled into the bed and pulled the gorgeous creature in front of him into his arms. Edward curled his body around Bella's, sticking his nose into her hair and inhaling the most intriguing scent. How are things going to be in the morning? he wondered as he settled into the covers, closed his eyes, and quickly fell asleep.
It only felt like a few minutes after falling asleep that Edward awoke startled, looking around the room to take in his surrounds. He gasped for his breath as his heart raced out of his chest. The panic attack from the dream was inevitable. He very rarely had bad dreams, but tonight was different. The dream was about their gracious hosts, his lover, and how they were going to turn him and his new companion into sex slaves. He tried to shake off the feelings the dream left, calm his breathing down, and focus on the room around him. However, he couldn't shake the bad feeling in the pit of his stomach that something wasn't right.
Wiping the sleep from his eyes, he climbed from the bed and tiptoed around the room, taking in the sights. When his eyes landed on the door that locked the occupants in the house out, he saw lights and shadows under the door. It was then that he heard several locks engage. Edward stood still as he heard locks turning, hoping that his worst nightmare wasn't coming true. He strained to hear if the shadows were talking, but he couldn't make out anything while he was standing at the end of the bed. He crept closer to the door to listen. With a furrowed brow, he listened as the couple spoke.
"I want them," Heidi whispered. "Please let us keep them," she begged as she batted her eyelashes at the love of her life, hoping he would do as she asked. Heidi was tired of fishing for people, and it was getting harder and harder to talk them into coming back with her. Once Aro came from the shadows to join the group, the majority of the people would automatically leave, but she was still able to reap the benefits from Aro watching. However, last night the connection that the couple had increased her hunger for them again.
"Heidi, you know we can't keep them," Aro whispered. He knew what Heidi wanted. She was younger than him, and he wasn't able to keep up with her. Even taking Viagra for him had been a problem and, now a days, the only way he could truly satisfy his wife was when he could watch. Heidi had complained enough during their time together that getting people to come back was getting increasingly harder. Aro also knew deep down inside that the connection the couple shared here tonight would in fact tease Heidi. It was the same attraction they shared with each other.
"I want them, and we will keep them. Everyone always runs off before we get a chance to play again. I hate going to the bar and hunting for more," Heidi complained, once again, and Aro nodded.
"I know you do sweetheart, and we will see where they stand in the morning. Maybe we can slip something into their food, make them stay longer, at least another round," she said, hoping she would be able to talk him into keeping them a little longer.
"We will figure it out in the morning. If they want to stay, then we will go from there, but if they don't, I will allow you to drug them every day to stay," Aro agreed.
Edward only caught half of their conversation, but when he heard them discussing drugging Bella and him, he knew he had to figure a way out of this mess. He listened for them to leave the door, and when the lights turned off in the hall and footsteps followed, he stood waiting. When he barely heard the sounds of another door closing in the house, he felt it was safe to check the door. He drew in a deep breath, blowing it out through his nose, and tentatively reached for the handle. He had locked Bella and himself in the room after Aro left. When he disengaged the lock from their side and tried to open the door, it wouldn't budge. "Shit!" he thought. Panic threatened to take Edward over again, but he wouldn't allow it. He took a deep breath to calm down. How had he missed the locks on the outside door as he entered? he asked himself as he walked back over to the bed. He had to figure out a way to get Bella and himself out of this situation they now both found themselves in.
Edward quickly surveyed the room looking for his clothes, his wallet, or something to cover up with other than the sheets that currently covered the body of the beauty in front of him. There was no way he was going to stay in this house long enough for them to drug Bella or himself. Actually, he didn't know the lengths the pair would go to in order to keep them, but he wasn't going to find out. Edward knelt down beside the bed on Bella's side and lightly tapped on her shoulder, hoping to wake her. They had to get out of this situation before the pair came looking for them in the morning.
"Bella," he whispered as he moved her body back and forth.
"Bella, please wake up," he whispered again, hoping she would quickly.
Bella raised up startled and confused, slapping Edward across the face. Just as he was about to grab his own face to rub at the sting from her hand, he noticed she was about to scream and quickly placed his hand over her mouth.
"Shh," he whispered with his finger to his own mouth, trying to tell her not to scream, but she wouldn't listen and bit his hand, causing him to pull it away.
"What the fuck?" he cursed quietly, rubbing the palm of his hand. Bella climbed to the head of the bed and wrapped the sheet around her body, scared and confused, trying to remember the events of the night.
"Who are you? What have you done to me? And, where are my fucking clothes?" Bella asked, pulling the sheet completely from the bed, causing the comforter to fall off the bed.
"Please, Bella, be quiet," he demanded. "They are planning to use us as sex slaves or something, but I can't do that … won't do that. I won't let that happen to you. We need to find a way out of this house as quietly and quickly as possible."
"Who is trying to make us sex slaves?" she asked, lowering her tones. Bella was having a hard time piecing together the events of last night in her head. She could vaguely recall meeting a woman at the bar and couldn't for the life of her remember the name of the man who now sat in front of her.
"How much do you remember from last night?" Edward asked, trying to figure out how much Bella knew. The biggest reason he could remember was that even though he had drank, he still hadn't had a lot, but Bella had almost finished the entire bottle of SoCo before they even left the bar.
"Your name is Elliott, right?" Bella asked, trying to come up with his name. The only thing she could recall was that it started with an E.
"No, not even close," he said smiling at her. Flashes of their evening together come flooding back or at least a few little clips. Bella and the woman from the bar locked in a kiss, the presence of another man that sent chills down her spine.
"My name is Edward. We were together last night …" he smiled crookedly at her "... we were picked up by a woman named Heidi. She brought us back to this house, where we engaged in a threesome of sorts."
"Oh. My. God." She palmed her face, turning a blushing red.
"We don't have time to talk about everything that happened, let alone talk to God right now. We need to find a way out of this house. I need you to calm down and help me figure it out."
Bella rubbed her hands through her hair, trying to understand everything that was going on. She couldn't believe she had put herself in this type of situation last night, but wasn't about to stay.
Edward misunderstood her reluctance to get out of bed as a sign she wanted to stay and tried to level with her. He knew she was already getting in way over her head, and a part of him wanted to save her from herself.
"Look, they have our clothes and probably all of our information. We can't leave the room because they have locked us in and in the morning, they plan on drugging us to stay. If you want to stay with them, by all means, but I am leaving. I didn't sign up for this and I wasn't going to come last night had you refused. However, you wanted to come. Now, either help me or go back to sleep. It doesn't matter to me which one you choose," he said, shrugging his shoulders. He was tired of talking and the more talking they did, the more time was running out. He wasn't even for sure what time it was, and what the pair considered morning to be.
"Don't you fucking leave me here," Bella whispered yelled with tears in her eyes.
"I won't … I would never leave you if you didn't want to stay," Edward said, crawling onto the bed to pull her into a hug as the tears spilled out of her eyes.
"Shh, it's okay. I won't leave you," Edward whispered as he kissed her hair, trying to calm her down.
When Bella felt his skin touch her body, she welcomed the contact, but when she looked down noticing his lack of clothes, she stiffened in his arms. She wanted him to touch her and comfort her, but when she noticed he was naked, it caused her heart to raced and fear to course through her veins. She felt like she could trust him, but maybe the occupants of this house wasn't the only thing she had to fear.
"You're naked," Bella whispered as a lump caught in her throat. Edward felt her body tense and he had forgotten that he was still naked.
"They have our clothes. We are going to have to leave naked, and figure out how to get out of here," he replied, pulling away from her body to look into her eyes.
"The sheet," Bella exclaimed, her eyes lighting up, and losing some of the tension she had once felt.
"What?" Edward asked confused, wondering how the sheet was going to help them with clothes.
"Rip the sheet; make it like a toga or something. We can't be caught out in public with nothing on. They will arrest us for public nudity and I can't risk that being on my record. I'm a lawyer and it will tarnish my career." Edward nodded because he couldn't risk that either with him being a Pediatrician. Surely the parents would have a fit, and never allow their children to be around him, thinking he was a pervert.
"Okay, but you're going to have to pull the sheet off first." He crookedly smiled at her, hoping he could see her beautiful body one more time.
"Oh, no you don't," she giggled quietly. "Just hand me the comforter and I will hand you the sheet, then you can do something with it."
Edward frowned as he reached for the comforter that had fallen on the floor. He wasn't embarrassed about his body in this moment. Hell, Bella has seen all of him tonight and it was a little to late in his opinion to start being shy. When he heard Bella's gasp as his body came into view for her, he turned his head to wink.
"Conceded much," she whispered under her breath.
"Not usually," he replied smirking at her.
Edward tossed Bella the comforter and watched as she wrapped it around her body and pulled the sheet out from underneath the covers. The sheet wasn't really all that tough to rip and it didn't take Edward long to fashion himself a loin cloth of sorts. Actually, it kind of looked like a cloth diaper, but it was the best he could do. Bella would need the majority of the sheet to hide all of her fabulous assets.
Bella watched as he quickly tore the sheet apart and worked at getting something around his waist. It was almost a sin to sit and watch the Greek God in front of her wrap up his heavenly body, but something she knew had to be done in order to leave the house.
"Wrap the rest around you and get out of the bed. I will help tie it to your body," he said, tossing the remains of the sheet in her direction. Bella quickly pulled the sheet under the comforter as Edward walked over to the only window in the room.
"It doesn't look that far down," he mused, looking to the ground below. Edward wasn't for sure if the window would even open at this point. He had missed the locks on the door earlier and hoped like hell they hadn't done something to the window to keep them from escaping them.
"I'm ready," Bella said, climbing out of the bed and holding the sheet as best as she could to her body. The sheet was pooling down around her waist and she knew that if she turned around that Edward would be able to see the top of her ass, but there wasn't anything she could do about it now.
Edward turned to face Bella, swallowing hard as he looked upon her. She was everything he had ever wanted in a woman. The way she looked with her unkempt hair, mascara running from her eyes, looking thoroughly fucked, he couldn't help but stalk over to her. It wasn't his intentions to look at her the way he was, but he couldn't help the way she made his body feel and react in that moment; all man and ready to spring into action to make her his once again. He shook his head ridding his mind of the visions of her on her back as he claimed her body once again out of his mind or at least on the back burner for now.
Bella gulped and looked to the floor when his eyes locked on hers. She felt like prey under his gaze. She looked up for a second and watched as he stalked toward her. Bella dropped her eyes when he finally reached her body. He walked behind her, allowing his fingertips to glide along her shoulders, causing her to shiver under his touch. Edward reached down and pulled the sheet from her body. Bella hands quickly covered her breasts and crossed her legs to hide as much as her body as possible.
"What the fuck are you doing?" Bella whispered yelled, standing there with her back to his, completely naked. She was pissed and he didn't answer, but the sounds of fabric ripped relaxed her a little.
"The sheet was too long. I don't know how far we are going to have to go before someone sees us and helps us out. Hell, I don't even know if we will get help. I don't want this to come off or cause you to fall with the way you had it on your body."
"Okay," Bella replied, slightly shivering from the cool air in the room.
Edward worked with the sheet and instead of walking in front of her like he wanted to, he stood behind her, wrapping his arms around her body while leaning into her hair and inhaled the scent that was Bella. He wrapped the sheet around her body as his face stayed buried in her tresses.
Bella couldn't breathe as his arms wrapped around her, encasing her. Her heart thundered in her chest as his head buried into her hair. She closed her eyes as his hands and arms worked wrapping the sheet around her and tying it off at her shoulders. He leaned down and placed a kiss on her shoulder as he finished tying off the sheet.
After kissing her shoulder, Edward composed his self, leaving her body, walking back over toward the window to once again assess the situation. Locating the lock on the window, he grasped the lock in his hands and quickly turned it, unlocking the window. Once it was able to open, he pulled it open and knocked the screen out of their way. Edward leaned out the window, getting a better feel for how high they truly where. He stepped back and looked toward the curtains, seeing that they had a little length about them. Edward looked around the window to see if there was something he could tie them too. He figured he could jump out the window and make it safely, but he wasn't sure about Bella.
"I can jump out of this window without hurting myself probably. Come look and see if you think you can make it? I don't want to assume and then something happen," Edward said, reaching out to grab Bella's hand as she walked over. Bella leaned out the window and looked to the grass below. She wasn't exactly afraid of heights, but she didn't know if she would make it without hurting herself.
"I don't think I can," she whispered, still holding tightly to Edward's hand.
"Okay," he said, looking for something, anything that could be moved closer to the window to hold the curtain he planned to tie to it.
"How much do you weigh?" Edward asked spying the little vanity over on the other side of the room, hoping move it closer without making a sound and tie the curtain to it making a rope to hang out the window.
"Excuse me?" Bella asked flushed, not wanting to admit how much she really weighed. What woman wants to admit those things? And, especially to a man who looks like a fucking statue in Greece, she thought.
"Look, I know you don't want me to know. I get that, but I need to determine if that vanity over there is going to hold your weight. I don't give a shit about the number. I have seen you naked and you're absolutely fucking gorgeous. So, just tell me," he said, winking and making Bella blush.
"You're about a buck thirty, right?" Edward asked, looking her up and down, sizing her up when she didn't answer.
"No," she whispered, looking to the floor, embarrassed that she weight more than he assumed. She knew she wasn't big, but it was hard to admit the exact size.
"Tell me, damnit," he whispered yelled, getting frustrated. They needed to be out of this house before sunrise.
"Try a buck fifty-five," she mumbled, hugging her arms around her body.
"Thank you," he said, leaning down to kiss her hair. "I still think you are fucking beautiful, even knowing the number," he replied, pushing her chin up to look at him. "That number means nothing to most men and definitely not me." He placed an open mouth kiss on her forehead before pulling away to size up the vanity. Bella watched him at his task. How had I gotten so lucky to find someone that size wasn't an issue? Jake had always complained about the added weight she had put on, but maybe it wasn't her weight that was the problem all along.
Edward motioned her over to the vanity where he asked if she could pick up one side. He knew it wouldn't completely hold her weight, but it would get her started and if she fell, he would be there to catch her. Bella reached down and picked up the side of the vanity and both of them moved it over to the window. Edward quickly pulled the curtain rod down and pulled the curtains off to tie them to the vanity.
"This won't last long and I don't think it will hold all of your weight, but it will get you started and if something happens and the vanity gives out, well, I will just have to break your fall," he said winking. Once the curtain was in place, Edward tugged on it and threw the makeshift rope out the window. The rope made it almost all the way down to the ground. Edward leaned out the window, contouring his body until he was ready to jump out.
"You can do this," he said smiling at Bella before he leaped from the window. Edward didn't land on his feet exactly how he had hoped and it took him a minute or two to get his body up off the ground. He was also slightly embarrassed that he wasn't able to land in a crotch and then stand. When he finally contained himself, he stood looking toward the window and waited for Bella to descend.
"Are you okay?" she whispered trying to keep as quiet as possible, but concerned about the tumble Edward had taken out the window.
"Fine now," he said, looking up to the window and motioning her to come on.
Bella grabbed the makeshift rope and leaned out the window once again. Her whole body left like it was shaking. She had never been one for heights and in the grand scheme of things, it wasn't like it was really high, but there was something about this whole situation that felt off. Just as she was about to make her way out the window, the light from under the door caught her attention causing her to panic.
"Shit," she thought before perching her body on the ledge of the window. She had to move now and quickly. She eased her body out of the window and used the rope to slowly ease herself down.
Edward stood under the rope trying not to pull or touch it, not wanting to add more weight to it, but he almost grabbed the rope as Bella's body descended from the window. The view he was granted was making it harder and harder to stand there and not move. Neither had anticipated the fact that she was only wearing a sheet to cover her body, but if anyone stood below her, they were granted a heavenly view. Edward wanted to do the right thing and turn his head as her pussy comes into view, but he couldn't look away. The sight before him was too tempting and God knows, it only made things harder for him. Licking his lips and hoping that he would get a chance to taste the essence that was all Bella and straight from the source and not off someone's fingers. Thinking about the events of last night only increased the stone between his legs.
Bella was half down the rope when it suddenly gave way and she fell back into the strong arms of Edward, knocking him to the ground. She had fallen on his chest and as she looked up into his eyes, he brushed her hair back from her face and licked his lips. She was caught in his gaze and didn't notice the rope curtain falling onto her.
"Shit," he said, looking toward the house and the window both of them had just crawled out of. Bella turned her head and looked up toward the window herself. Looking out was the creepy man from last night, making Bella crawl even further up Edward's chest. Edward pulled both him and Bella from the ground and pulled her into the woods that surround the house. They couldn't get away from the house fast enough.
Bella fell down as Edward was dragging her through the woods, trying to get a far away from the house as possible. When she fell, he stopped to help her up and when she was back on her feet, she took off running again, leaving him standing in the wood.
When she saw the road in front of her, she stopped. Everything was still dark, but she could see the sun trying to rise just as Edward stopped beside of her.
"How in the hell did you beat me?" he asked, panting.
"I don't know," she replied, turning to look at him. She couldn't believe she could out run someone as physically fit as Edward either, but she had been able to.
He noticed the way her sheet was torn up the side of her leg and it looked like she had rubbed blood from her hands onto the sheet she was wearing. She had blood lining her lips from biting lip as she fell. He reached out, tearing a piece of sheet from her body and used it to dry the wound on the outside of her lips.
Bella starred into Edward eyes as he tried to clean the blood from her lips. The metallic taste from the blood in her mouth was starting to make her sick to her stomach.
"The look in your eyes is predatory, almost like you could pounce on me in a heartbeat," he said chucking, but she didn't even break contact. Edward swallowed hard, but was caught in her gaze and couldn't break from her stare.
"You look like you've just taken down a cougar or something," he stammered, trying to break the look she was giving him. Her eyes were vacate and unseeing and she blinked, looking at him.
"Baby, you all right?" he asked, starting to worry because of the hollow look in her eyes. Bella quickly shook her head, and tried to clear the fog from her brain. It was like she was trapped in a fight or flight response and when she had fallen in the forest, she couldn't help but run, run as far as she could from the whole fucked up situation she was in.
"I'm fine," she said, pushing his hands from her lips. "Where are we?" she asked, looking at the road, but nothing was standing out to her.
"We are about a block and a half from the bar, if I remember correctly from last night," he sighed, letting his hand fall to his side. It was the first time since he woke her that she had pushed his affections to the side. Edward ran his hand through his hair. He didn't understand how she had been one way at the house, but with the flip of a switch, she was another, standing on the side of the road. It was in that moment that he doubted the connection they'd had earlier in the night. He swallowed hard, but was caught in her gaze and couldn't break from her stare.
Bella sighed, "Look, Edward, we need to get out of here." She was frustrated and wore completely out from the adrenalin running though her system. All she needed to do was get home. "Shit," she cursed under her breath. She had forgotten all about Jake and she knew he would be there with James. She wasn't ready to deal with them this morning or any time really. However, she needed some clothes before she checked into the hotel she would be staying at for the next couple of days until she figured out something more permanent.
When Edward started heading south on the road, Bella quickly followed. Her apartment wasn't too far from the bar and she wrestled back and forth within her mind as to whether or not to ask him to come with her as moral support. Not to mention, she didn't think Edward would want to walk uptown in his sheet diaper. She snickered as she thought it and Edward turned to look at her.
"What?" Edward asked, looking over his shoulder as he continued in the dark.
"Nothing," Bella said quickly. She didn't want to tell him that he looked funny, a grown man walking around with a white diaper around his ass. Edward looked hot, but it was still funny. Plus, she knew once they got into town, where the bar was located, he wouldn't be able to hide. Her sheet wasn't that bad, but his? She burst out laughing this time as she watched the muscles in his back, legs, and ass flex as he walked along the road.
Edward stopped and turned around to watch her. She was laughing so hard, and no longer paying attention, that she walked right into his sculpted chest. She swallowed hard as she looked at his well defined muscles. She gulped as his hands lifted her chin to look into his eyes. She was captured in their depths and couldn't look away. There was something about Edward that called to her, but after the activities of the night, she now found herself very confused on what she really wanted.
Bella pulled away from him and his gaze, and walked into town with him trailing behind her. When she turned on the street of her apartment, he was still right behind her. A part of her felt safer, stronger, and more confident with him there, but everything was still swirling around in her mind. How could she be attracted to both? She could understand how one night and one experience had somehow changed the thoughts of her mind. Had I always been this way, but never did anything to figure them out?
Edward followed behind Bella, determined to not let her out of his sight. He had seen confusion and uncertainty in her eyes, but he hadn't figured out what she was uncertain about. A part of him was worried that some of the uncertainty was about him, but also concerned about her well being. Last night at the bar, she had looked so lonely at one point, but he didn't know why. He was now dying to figure out why? What had made her lonely? What would be waiting on her when she returned home? Was she single?
Bella marched up the steps to her apartment, taking a deep breath before she knocked on the door. Once she had somewhere to stay for the night, she would sit back and figure out everything that was currently wrong with her situation. She stood there with Edward, still standing directly behind her, not saying a word. She was thankful for the support, but didn't know what she was going to find on the other side of the door when Jake answered.
She began to get frustrated when she knocked for the seventh time and Jake still hadn't opened the door. When she raised her hand to knock again, Jake swung the door open. He stood in the door way with no shirt and black boxer briefs, scratching his crotch.
Edward wasn't standing close to her at all, but when he saw Jake in the doorway, he started backing away from her. He was afraid that the man in the doorway was her boyfriend and there would be a fight if he found out about the things they had done. Edward was never one for confrontation. In fact, a lot of people in his past would have labeled him a pussy, but he was more a lover than a fighter. It wasn't that he had never gotten into a fight because he had, but it just wasn't something he wanted to do. With the guilt that Edward had at the moment with being with Bella, there was a good chance he would stand or lay there and take whatever the man at the door would dish out.
"What the fuck, Jake?" Bella asked, motioning toward his clothing choices for opening the door.
Jake finally looked up seeing Bella and busted out laughing at her attire.
"You have the nerve to talk about my lack of clothes when you are running around town in a toga. What are you in college again?" he asked, bending at the knees laughing at her.
"No, Jake, let me in the fucking apartment so I can get some clothes and get out of your hair."
"I don't think so, sweetie. James is here and I am not letting you in. You will have to come this weekend to collect your things," Jake sneered.
"What?" Bella screamed.
"You heard me … don't play dumb Bella; it's not very becoming of you. See, last night when you stormed out of here, James was pissed that you interrupted our …" Jake inserted his index finger into a circle he made with the other hand "... It took him a while to recover and be able to perform. I knew you wouldn't be back, figuring you would drink yourself silly and asked James to move in. He agreed, of course, but he also said he didn't want you in the apartment unless he was up and around." Jake shrugged and smirked in her direction.
Bella was fucking pissed. Had she not left her keys to the apartment at the Aro and Heidi's house, she would be able to get her things and be done with both Jake and James. However, circumstance being what they were, she was stuck at Jake's mercy. She wasn't about to beg to get into the apartment and was about to back away from the whole situation when Edward stood directly behind her, making his presence in the hall known.
"What the hell, Bella?" Jake asked, looking in the direction of Edward as he stood tall behind her. Jake winked in his direction finding him attractive.
"What did you do last night?" Jake asked, looking down to her as she stood there regretting Edward being with her.
"Don't worry about what I did last night," she said calmly.
"Looks like you enjoyed a frat party last night and thought you would bring back a college guy to make me jealous."
"No," she replied, looking away from Jake.
"Did you bring him for me?" Jake asked batting his eyelashes in Edward's direction.
"You don't know what I have been through tonight … what we have been through, so let me in so I can get a change of clothes. That's all I want Jake, just a change of clothes. I will come later today and get my things. I don't have a problem leaving the apartment, but you can't hold my stuff … you have no legal right to do so," she said, trying to reason with him.
"Trust me, I know what I have a right to do," Jake said, looking at the pair, when he noticed Edward shift on his feet. It was at that moment that he started to analyze the pair in front of him. Before he had just noticed that he was there and didn't register his attire, but now that Jake was really looking, he stated laughing at the sight in front of him. Bella looked like hell and had blood smeared on her sheet while the man behind her looked like the New Year baby. All he needs is a bonnet and a pacifier then the outfit would be complete, Jake thought, while holding his stomach laughing at the pair.
Edward pulled on Bella's elbow trying to get her away from the door, but he couldn't get her fast enough to stop her from smacking the shit out of Jake. Jake looked into her eyes and was pissed.
"Come on, Bella, we don't need this shit," Edward said, pissed that the man in front of him wasn't letting her get some clothes to wear or even go into her own apartment. He didn't know what was going on, but he knew they needed to leave before things escalated out of control. He wasn't happy that Bella had been able to smack him either, all that could do was cause more trouble for herself in the long run.
"You think you know her?" Jake asked as Edward was pushing Bella away from the apartment. "You think just because she fucked you once and spent the last five hours telling you how horrible I have been to her that you know her," he seethed, coming out of the apartment, but Edward continued to push Bella along.
"Fuck you, Jake," she said, shooting him the middle finger. She wasn't helping Edward out at all. She was turned towards the apartment as Edward pushed her along the way. Actually she was trying to fight against him, but he was too strong to move. All she wanted was some clothes and then she would be gone. Why couldn't Jake allow her those things?
"She doesn't think about anybody other than herself. She's a shitty girlfriend, and didn't even listen when I tried to tell her something was missing in our relationship. All she cared about was her precious job," Jake pissed and whined in the hallway.
"You were fucking another man, Jake, your best fucking friend," she screamed as Edward pulled her into the elevator. Jake stopped the doors before they could shut.
"Mark my words, she will fuck you over and when you need her the most, she won't be there." Jake pulled from the doors, allowing them to shut around the pair. Bella leaned against the wall of the elevator, silently crying. Edward rubbed his hands through his hair and pinched his nose, wondering what he could have possibly gotten himself into.
"Look," she said, looking toward the ground and not into his eyes. "Jake's right. I'm married to my job. I don't have time to listen and I don't usually behave like this. I don't know what I want anymore or even how to be." She sobbed harder and harder, the events of the night weighing on her shoulders.
Edward reached over, gathering her into his arms, but Bella pulled away. She was more confused than ever about her life and what she wanted it to be at this point and needed to get away.
"Do you have anywhere to stay?" he asked, trying to figure out how he could help her. They were both in the same situation of sorts, neither had their keys, wallets, or cell phone. He knew that sneaking out the window like would leave both of them without anything for weeks at least, but it was either leave or be a slave. Hell, he was praying that Emmett still had the spare set to his apartment and car. If he didn't, he would have to call his mother. However, he wouldn't leave Bella stranded, if that was indeed the situation she faced.
"No, but I can call my secretary at work. She has information to the corporate credit card, and that will get me through until Monday," she sighed, knowing she would have a cancel everything and replace her driver's license. She wasn't too happy with them having her address, but at least she didn't live with Jake any longer. Just thinking about not living with Jake made her head hurt. She reached up and rubbed her brow.
"Do you want me to walk you somewhere so you can call or something? I don't know if they even have pay phones anymore," he said, shrugging his shoulders. It had been years since he had seen a working phone around this area and he didn't know the odds of them finding one.
Edward didn't want to let her go, but knew that maybe if he let her figure out her life, then maybe he would find her again. He knew they had something special, but with the events of night, he knew they both needed time to process. It wasn't like he knew they would become lovers instantly, and knew that it would take time to build up to something more, but he had hoped.
They exited the elevator and were back on the street. Edward had decided he would call Emmett from wherever they were. He would offer Bella a ride too, if she needed, but it was still a matter of finding a way to get a hold of him.
They walked down the street, and found themselves once again at the bar on Fourth and Vine. The bar was closed with no one in sight as the sun rose in the sky.
"Do you need to call someone?" she asked, breaking the silence they had now found themselves in.
"Yeah, he can give you a ride too, if need be," he said, following behind her.
"You might have to stay outside … around the corner or something," she mused, looking over his attire once again. She didn't figure anyone would allow him in their stores, dressed in just a sheet. She would barely be able to pull it off, but she was more covered than Edward.
"Yeah, I suppose so." He looked around, trying to find an alley to hide in, while he waited for Bella to make the calls.
Once he was hidden in an alley, Bella made her way into the Starbucks around the corner. The place was packed this early in the morning. She stood and patiently waited her turn in line. The looks from the customers in the store was a little unsettling, but she ignored them for the most part. She knew that standing in the middle of Starbucks in the morning with just a bloody sheet wrapped around her body would warrant her a few awkward looks from the patrons.
Within minutes, it was Bella's turn and when she approached the counter, the young barista smiled and winked at her.
"What can I get for you?" she asked, smiling brightly at Bella.
"I was wondering if I could use a phone. My friend and I were left stranded on the side of the road and there are not any pay phones in the area."
"Sure," the woman reached into her back pocket pulling out a cell phone. She quickly unlocked the cell and handed it to Bella. But before she pulled her hand away, she stroked her hand and held onto it before she let go. "I can trust you, right?" she asked, smiling. Bella smiled back and nodded.
Bella quickly walked out of the Starbucks with the barista's cell phone in hand. She quickly dialed Angela to get her to meet her there and to bring some clothes from her office. Angela quickly agreed. Bella handed the phone to Edward and tried not to overhear his conversation. Once he was done with his call, she walked the phone back into the Starbucks. This time the line was nonexistent; so she walked straight to the counter. Another girl come around the corner and asked if she could help her.
"I got her, Clair," the young woman came from the back, approaching the counter where Bella stood. Bella actually looked at her this time around, noticing her short spiky black hair and crystal blue eyes. Bella swallowed hard as she came closer to her. Her heart was beating fast in her chest and she didn't know why.
"Thanks for the phone," Bella said, holding the phone out for the woman to take.
"You're welcome," the woman replied. "My name is Alice Brandon," she said, taking the phone from Bella's hands and letting her own hand linger once again on Bella's.
"Bella," she quickly replied with her hand lightly touching Alice's.
"My shift ends at four. I would love for you to come back," Alice whispered.
"I think I would love that," Bella said, pulling away from Alice's hand.
