Mirrors

Sonic didn't know why people made such a big deal out of things. They couldn't stop him from changing his appearance. He didn't complain when they did so what gave them the right? They were getting mad because his eyes changed, that he lost weight, that he was taller and didn't sound 'cute' anymore. He was thirteen. Of course he wasn't cute anymore. After years of hand to hand combat and running he lost his chubbiness and grew muscle. Who wouldn't? They were getting mad because he was growing up.

And nothing could stop it.

Tails watched from his perch on the bathroom counter as Sonic grabbed his comb. He knew by the way the hedgehog was looking at himself in the glass that he was worried how he looked. Tails didn't know why he was so sad about his appearance. In fact, he should be proud and not let anyone's opinions get the better of him. In Tails's eyes Sonic was the perfect role model even with his faults. And that was saying something because he could only look out of one eye right now.

"Don't be sad, big brother," The fox's limited gaze shone back to the hedgehog. "You're perfect the way you are."

A comb clattered on the counter as the older one stared at his brother in question.

"What do you mean?"

"I can tell that you're worried about what people say about how you look." Tails answered. "But you haven't changed on the inside and that what counts. I love you for that."

Sonic gazed at the fox with warm eyes before grabbing the towel off his younger brother's face. He dried the yellow fur until it puffed up.

"Now I look like a walking dandelion."

Sonic chuckled at the fox's antics before drawing him into a hug.

"I love you for your personality too, Tails."

Still hugging, they both looked at the mirror. They both knew then that if they had each others love, they wouldn't care how they looked.

Yep. I think this story came out as a total bust.
