I wrote this a while ago and never posted it. Enjoy!

Killian Jones had faces many terrors in his life. He'd battled an ocean full of mermaids, faced the Kracken, almost drowned too many times to count. But he'd never been so terrified as he was now.

He wanted to talk to Emma about having children.

They'd only been married a few months and in that time alone they'd faced 4 different villains, not including the ones in their everyday lives (why haven't they tried banishing the Crocodile again?). They literally had no time to rest, let alone even have time to discuss their future.

It's not like he never had time to think about his future. On those lonely nights in Neverland, he thought of the children he'd never have, or that he'd probably be an utter failure as a father. Having Bae pull away from him was only confirmation of that. But when he brought Henry home from Neverland, seeing the lad tucked in his bunk after Regina tucked him in, made his heart swell. He thought of taking Henry and Emma out for some time at sea, teaching Henry the ropes of sailing, then letting Henry fall asleep in the bunk as he showed Emma the stars. Those day dreams felt no more than that at the time, a passing fantasy that would torture him while Emma got reacquainted with the boy's father.

He should have had more faith.

Killian had found time to take Emma and Henry sailing quite a few times. Only, Henry never slept on their evening sailing trips. He was far too excited to learn more from Killian to fall asleep to the rocking of the ship, and Killian wouldn't have it any other way. It was those quiet moments with Emma and Henry that made his old heart swell with love and pride.

He wanted more of those moments. Not just with Emma and Henry, but with a fiery child with his dark hair and Emma's bright green eyes. He wanted a baby snuggled in his arms as he stared out over the sea, the gentle rocking under their feet as they stood on his ship. And a part of him wanted to see Emma's stomach swollen with his child.

Killian did fear how Emma and Henry would react. Although, he didn't have to wonder too long with Henry. The lad was practically begging for a younger sibling.

"Dad," as Henry called him now, his eyes having the same glint in them as Neal when he was excited. "I've been an only child for too long. Besides, it'd be nice to have some noise around here that wasn't a snow monster or a screaming banshee."

"You'd be surprised how loud a baby can be at night time," Killian joked. "When I lived at Granny's, I used to share a wall with Aurora's son. That child could wake the dead."

Killian straightened the silverware with what felt like the sixteenth time before Emma walked in the door. He practically jumped when the door clicked open. Captain Hook doesn't jump! Get a grip on yourself, old man!

"Wow," Emma said as she looked over the dining room table. "What's all this?" Killian took a cleansing breath and walked around the table to kiss his wife before pulling her chair out for her and putting her napkin on her lap for her. He only had filled her glass partway with wine before Emma leaned on the arm of the chair and looked up at him with a smirk. "What did you do now, pirate?"

"Pardon," he asked, spilling a drop of wine on the white table cloth.

"Home cooked dinner?

"You wound me, Swan. I do cook. Quite often in fact," Killian said with a chuckle as he sat down.

"The wine? Usually rum is your drink of choice."

"It's nice to have some variety, don't you agree, Swan?" Killian raised his eyebrow suggestively at her, causing her to blush, but she was not so easily distracted.

"Plus it's Tuesday so I know Henry's at Regina's. So it must be something if you know you can't even hide behind Henry."

"That is utterly ridiculous, Swan. I'm the most fearsome pirate that ever sailed the seas. I don't need the boy for protection, even if I was hiding something," Killian said as he put some food onto her plate for her.

"But you are hiding something," Emma said. "You're making my superpower go haywire." Killian froze what he was doing, then dropped the facade completely in favor of pulling his chair up next to Emma's. He took both her hands in his, placing his hook on top of her delicate hands.

"Aye, there is something… something I'd very much like to discuss with you and I might as well come out and say it."

"Hook, you're scaring me," Emma said as she stiffened a bit. Killian opened his mouth to speak, but as he did, no words came out. She looked terrified and his internal fear of scaring her away, or worse, her never wanting what he wanted, came flooding over him. It wasn't until she lifted one hand and put it on his cheek, lifting his chin so he'd look at her, that he softened. "Killian," she whispered. "Just talk to me." Killian turned his head to gently and slowly kiss the palm of her hand.

"You're right, love," he said. "Together we can do anything."

"I know," Emma said, a smile forming in the corner of her mouth. "We're quite the team."

"Aye," Killian said softly. "Emma, would you ever want a little one?"

"What?"

"I've been so afraid of talking to you about this but I can't deny it anymore. Emma- I want a babe. I want to hold a piece of our love my arms. I want a lass that has all the spirit of her mother and a lad that follows his big brother everywhere. I want to teach them to sword fight and to sail the Jolly Roger, to read and to write their own stories. I've been so afraid to tell you because you may not think we should bring a child into our daily chaos or think that Henry isn't enough for me. He is! He's my son in all the ways that matter. But I cannot deny it any longer. I want to hear our children's laughter throughout our home and…"

"Killian," Emma halted him. To his surprise, her walls were not up. She didn't look like she was going to run out the door. She was smiling. "Of course I want a family with you."

"You do?" She answered him by pressing her lips to his. He felt a weight off his shoulders that he didn't realize was there and relaxed into the slide of her lips on his. When she pulled back, her smile was even wider.

"Why wouldn't I?"

"I...I just thought you'd..." Killian ran his hand through his hair and scratched behind his ear. "I guess I was worried for nothing."

"No you weren't," she said as she rose from the table, pulling his hand so he'd stand with her. "I've given you plenty of reasons in the past as to why I'd run when we'd reach a new step in our relationship. But I'm not afraid anymore. Like I told you once- I don't need my walls when I'm with you." She leaned forward and pressed another kiss to his lips. "And as you said before- there's always a crisis. Perhaps I should start living a life during them, otherwise, I might miss it." Emma placed his hand and hook on her hips before looping her arms around his neck. "And I am not going to miss any part of our lives together. Not after all we've been through." This time, when she pressed her lips to his, it was full of promise, of hope in their future. Killian never loved her more in that moment.

"So," Killian hummed as he pushed back a strand of her hair with his hook. "You want a babe as well?"

"Our own little pirate crew? Bring it on," Emma said, much to Killian's delight. "We can handle anything. We're quite the team."

"That we are."

"So how many were you thinking," Emma said, tilting her head to the side with a smile that made his once cold pirate's heart into a puddle in his chest. "One? Two?"

"Oh, I should warn you, Swan," Killian said with a playful smile. "It takes many a crewmen to sail the fastest ship in all the realms. I'm expecting a very large family." He punctuated his last words each with a kiss. "At least, I'm hoping."

"Well then," Emma said with a challenging gaze. "We'll have to take advantage of the quiet moments we have. That is… if you can catch me." With that, she disappeared in his arms with a puff of white smoke. He could hear her giggling at the top of the steps and he went tearing up after her, dinner completely forgotten.

They had their future family to start.
