Chapter 7 by Malteser24
Phil's P.O.V
We sat silently with our coffee, watching as the French of the past walked in and out, talking loudly about all the executions. They saw it as entertainment, when I all I could think about was the awful murder happening day by day. I always knew what happened during these times, but to be experiencing it…I hope I never have to see anything like this ever again.
I felt a lightweight on my forearm, and turned to face Dan, a painful smile on his face. I could see he was trying to be strong for us, we don't really know the Doctor, but I trust him, and he is willing to travel with him for me. He also knows how I feel about things like this. I smiled back, a small smile, but one none the less.
"Right." The doctor whispered, leaning over so we were the only ones who heard him.
"Something weird is going on here, or the T.A.R.D.I.S wouldn't have brought us here. She's a smart one, and knows when something is up. Only problem, we don't. So we have to find out."
"How about the mass murder that's happening on the streets day in day out?!" I said, my voice rising higher than a whisper.
"Phil, don't yell. Please. We don't want to get in any trouble." Dan pleaded.
"Sorry. Doctor, I apologise. Please continue."
"Right. Well, it's most likely an alien that much we can assume. I would suggest checking the guillotine, but I can see how upset that makes you Phil. I think our next option is to check the palace. There will not be any royals there, the perfect place for alien life forms to hide out."
"How do we do that? Wouldn't there be guards or something?" Dan asked.
"Not likely. With the royal family in prison, the bastille being destroyed, all available guards will be with the royal family. Quick slip through the back door. The palace of Versailles, I have to warn you, well, there are quite a lot of rooms. About 700, give or take a few."
"700! You expect us to look through 700 rooms?!" Dan asked, his voice rising by a few octaves.
"Of course not! We'll look through each room on the first floor, say, 20 rooms each? That's 60 in total. We should be able to get at least an idea of what, or who, we are dealing with."
"What if we don't find anything that can help?"
"We start looking somewhere else. We're in France! 1792, time of the French revolution. The end of the Bourbon family rule!"
"And the era of blood and death." I whispered.
