The Battle of Shahazar

"Is it Time, my lady Ivenna?"

The huge grey wolf, laying bathed in silvery moonlight, looked up at the woman. She was clothed in purple, her black hair contrasting sharply with her pale skin. Ivenna nodded, a cruel smile spreading across her face.

"Yes, it is time to claim what is rightfully ours, the sunstone. Those poor little horses at Shahazar castle won't know what's hit them. It is Time."

At this Myrfor flung up his head and howled. This was no ordinary howl. It was a call, a call that would bring wolves from far and wide. It was the call of the hunt.

"Woah!" yelled a blond teenage boy falling to the floor of his room. "Ow," Colm muttered, rubbing the back of his head. Just then he realized what had woke him up an his eyes widened. "Oh no... not Ivenna!" He moaned as as he scrambled to his feet and dashed out the door.

He almost ran headlong into Emma in the middle of the a long hallway and wirelessly they raced to the source of the noise, the ballroom, where Colm slid to a stop of pure astonishment.

Chaos. Colm could think of no other word to describe it other than "chaos". Wherever he turned he saw horses and wolves fighting for their lives. He saw horses biting, rearing, wolves slashing, snarling. Emma took one look and dashed into the melee. Colm hesitated for a split second, then followed.

It didn't take long for the wolves to notice Emma had joined the battle.

"She has the sunstone!" Myrfor howled. "Get her."

Achill ran up Colm's spine. He felt like he was in the middle of a nightmare as he turned and saw masses of wolves pouring towards Emma. She tried to fight them off, but soon collapsed under their attack.

"NO!" screamed Colm, but he scarcely heard himself. He fought his way forward and, grabbing a rock, began attacking wolves left and right. Wings tried to run forward to help, but the wolves grabbed his legs and brought him crashing to the floor. Colm gasped as wolf slammed him into the ground by leaping on his chest.

"Say your goodbye's, Colm Roland," it snarled.

"Never!" yelled Colm, flinging it off with a strength he didn't know he had. It smashed into a wall and slid to the floor, motionless.

At that moment, everything froze. Even Colm himself froze when he realized what he had done. The wolf was Myrfor.

Ivenna went rigid and her face contorted in rage. "How. Dare. You," she whispered. Then she raise her staff and screamed, "YOU WILL PAY!"

Colm threw up his arms to shield himself, but to no avail. Violet lightning shot out of the staff, blaststing him squarely in the head. He started to collapse, but was strangely held up by it, his face frozen with horror. The other horses stood petrified.

Soot couldn't take it anymore. He bolted forward and knocked the boy over, away from Ivenna and her magic. Colm crumpled unconscious to the floor.

As if a spell had been broken, chaos once more returned. Where seconds ago horse an wolf had stood side by side, the battle of life and death resumed. Soot stood prospectively over Colm and sindged the coat of any foolish enough to come too close, while Fiona and Wings protected Emma.

Ivenna soon saw it was a losing battle. She gritted her teeth and called to her wolves, "To me! To the shadow path!"

At once a door materialized, smothered in mist and fog. Ivenna and her wolves stepped into it and were gone. The horses of Shahazar had triumphed over the wolves of Styginmoor.

A/N: A little note on on how I came up with this. When I read to where Emma got the first petal near Shahazar castle, and saw that there was going to be a "Wolf Attack" my brain went into overdrive and I came up with the rough outline of this story. Numerous revisions and two and a half years later I came up with with. Anyone who reviews gets a slice of rainbow pie!
