Beeeeeee... The noise was continuous, annoyingly persistent, seeming to echo in the open space. My eyes scoured the area, searching fruitlessly for the blurry shape I was so insistent on following. If I were to be asked why exactly I was chasing it, I would not be able to give an appropriate answer. To be honest, the whole reasoning behind this action was a complete mystery. All I really knew was that something somewhere deep inside me was urging me to follow. It was so powerful, it seemed to seize control of my whole body, pushing me into motion, forcing me to do so. Eeeeeeeeee... Relentlessly, the noise carried on, buzzing away in the corner of my mind. Somehow, it seemed important, but I couldn't for the life of me remember why.

An eerie cackled emanating from above my head caught my attention. Instantly, my eyes darted up. I caught a flash of the tell-tale ebony hair. A small snippet of the domino mask that was so familiar to me. Though, as I went to reach out for him, the boy instantly flipped away, disappearing once more from my immediate line of vision. Eeeeeeee... "Wait!" I pleaded, breaking out into a choppy, unsteady sprint. "Wait. Don't leave me!" The boy took no notice. He simply cackled again as he began to swing away through the trees, performing acrobatic feats I could only dream of achieving. "Please! Slow down. Don't go!" He ignored me, even when I stumbled and fell hard after catching my foot in a tree root. He didn't wait as I scrambled to my feet and struggled to keep up. The fear of losing him increased ten fold.

Eeeeeeee... He was just flits now. Flashes of colour in my monotone surroundings. I was slowing. Was I tired? I didn't know. But the feeling that I were wading through treacle only intensified. How could he be moving so fast? I could only wonder why this sudden bout of thick, sticky air hadn't had the slightest effect on him. Eeeeeee... An ominous crack sounded. So loud, it could've been mistaken for a gunshot. So unexpected, I almost believed it had been one when I saw a small figure falling,

Falling,

Falling.

Heat. Heat was flushing my body. My chest was constricted, strangling me, crushing my heart, my important internal organs. They didn't seem so important after the horrific sight before me finally registered in my mind. A broken bird, lying still, crumpled on the cold, unforgiving ground. Listless, head lolled, unaware of the crimson that pooled underneath. Bones were jutting out, clearly broken, but I could not look too closely. I sunk to my knees. The bile that was rising in my throat was no painful, as it should've been. The corner of his mouth, still stretched into a sly smirk was streaked with blood. Hand trembling, I reached out and wiped it away. Breath irregular, I searched desperately across the ivory skin of his neck, searching for the pulse I knew I would not find. He was cold. So cold. Though, some part of me was convinced that it was impossible. After all, shouldn't he still be warm? If only just a little.

Eeeeeeeee...

"Robin!"

A distant buzzing of sound gradually enveloped my senses, pushed forward from the distant corners of my mind. Drowsily, I squeezed my eyes closed just a little tighter. The nightmare had been awful, sure, but waking up and finding Robin still in his coma would've been just as awful. Movement. Movement? How am I moving? My own two legs didn't even feel like they were touching the ground. Reluctantly, my eyes fluttered open, though instantly were shielded once more by the bright lights that assaulted my pupils. Warmth was radiating into my body. It was reassuring. I felt safe. But, the muffled sounds were becoming more prominent. I forced myself awake as a jerky movement sent an electric jolt throughout my body.

It was Red Arrow, his face twisted with panic, using his back to push open the door. Wally dived past, not even bothering to help him. Red followed without complaint, still keeping me nicely sheltered in his arms. "Robin. No!" Wally's voice, clearly distraught. Red Arrow took less care with spinning us around so he could get a good look at the scene. White. White everywhere. On the sheets. One the walls. The floors. The ceiling. Robin's ivory skin even looked particularly pallid. The aforementioned redhead was standing frozen on the spot, tears welling up in his eyes, an expression of complete horror taking up his usually cheerful features.

My eyes darted to the Cardiac Monitor. It was drawn in an ominous straight line. Panicking, I stared at it for a small moment, willing for it to move, desperately wishing it could kicks tart to contradict the explosive pain in my chest. Red dropped me, completely surprised, as I wriggled to sit up. I didn't complain, though, I simply raced too Robin's side. "Kid! You need to get a doctor. Quick!" I took a couple of deep breaths to steady myself. "Kid, now! Go get help!" he complied without another word. "Robin, you stay with us. Do you hear me? Red Arrow, get your ass over here. Do you know CPR?" He gave a shaky, almost uncertain nod. "Good, you're on chest compressions. I'll do the rescue breaths. Swap with me when you get tired."

A cold hand touched my own. "He doesn't need to." A small, male voice whispered.

Terrified, I swivelled back around to see Robin sitting upright in his bed, a cheerful grin adoring his face. I do admit that at the time I didn't really think everything through. So, of course, I screamed. And stumbling back, falling right against the Redhead's legs and stayed there, utterly speechless. Red Arrow, I could only assume, took a couple of seconds and a Triple Take to fully comprehend this situation. "What? It's like you've seen a ghost or something." He teased, poking his tongue out at us.

"B-b-but you're... Y-y-you're... You're d-dead!" I exclaimed, my voice shaking uncontrollably. Great. Well done, Maya, that's the most intelligent thing you've said all week. You should just walk away right now and shoot yourself. Grinning broadly, Robin proudly held up the wire that had previously connected him to the Cardiac Monitor. "You little shit." I said, shaking my head before standing up and brushing imaginary dirt off my clothes. Wally seemed to agree as he stood in the doorway, the usual nurse, Lee, in tow, looking extremely shocked.

His face twisted with fury, Red Arrow angrily advanced on Robin. Instantly his smirk was wiped off his face and he hurriedly placed his hands in a surrendering manner. Red backhanded him across the face. Groaning, Robin touched his stinging cheek. "Okay, I guess I deserved that."

"You dick." Red Arrow scolded, almost squeezing the life out of the little bird, while next to him Wally laughed, hugging his best friend just as tight. "You fucking dick. I can't believe you did that to me. I fucking hate you, you little troll." The two only released him when Robin pretended to make choking noises. Then, true to his nature, Robin preceded to tease Red Arrow about a little slip up he made in his Romani. Instead of, what Robin assumed was meant to mean, I'm totally going to hunt down Klarion and kick his ass, Red had actually mistakenly said kiss, which caused a lot of embarrassment for the Redhead and unlimited glee for the little bird. "Well. Let's just say that never happened. Also, you better delete that recording, otherwise I'll tell Batman it was you that swapped his coffee for decaf last Thursday. And that it was you that TPed the whole inside of the Watchtower and-"

"Alright, alright, you got me." Robin laughed and promptly did as he was told. "Damn, you sure know how to use your blackmailing leverage, don't you?" He tilted his head as he faced me, lip protruding in a small pout as he reached his arms out. "Hey... Do I not deserve huggles?" I didn't hesitate. I dived straight into his arms and squeezed him tightly, muttering curses under my breath as I did so. He didn't complain, not even when my arms almost crushed him to death. Apparently suffocating by hug didn't merit much concern from the boy. Though, I could only assume he was used to it by now, with the lifestyle he has, being hugged to death could almost be a daily occurrence for him.

"I'm so glad you're okay." I said, as I released him.

"Yeah?" He said, chipping me under the chin. "So am I." He flicked the middle of my forehead. "Hope you haven't been too depressed. Knowing you, you probably blamed yourself. Didn't you?" I couldn't prevent the surprise from flicking across my face. "Idiot." He scolded, childishly poking his tongue out at me. An excited squeal emanated from the phone Wally was holding, which stopped Robin before he'd even had a chance to continue. Wincing, the redhead jerked the device away from his ear and berated the girl on the other end for nearly deafening him.

"He's awake!?" Artemis. Higher, more excited than normal. But definitely Artemis all the same. "Wally. Come pick me up. Now." She demanded, before hanging up. Wally shrugged, threw us a wave and jogged out, muttering somewhat affectionately that was something along the lines of damn archers.

Red Arrow, phone in hand, effortlessly unlocked his own device. "Guess I'll call the B-man, then."

"I don't think that's necessary. Leslie beat you to it." The Dark Knight was leaning against the doorway, dressed in casual clothes, no less. Though with a cap pulled low over his head and sunglasses sitting awkwardly on his face, I could only wonder how I managed to stop myself from laughing. This was not exactly how I'd ever imagine the Dark Knight to dress. "You gave us quite a scare, Robin."

The boy in question smirked. "What can I say? I like to stir things up from time to time." His sly grin only seemed to expand as they stared at each other, communicating through just their eyes. "Get over here right now and freaking hug me already." With a small sigh, the Bat complied. "Jesus, I've been in a freaking coma for three days and all I get is a look. I mean, I know you have a reputation to uphold and all, but dude."
