Alrighty guys, I know it's been a while, but I'll try to do better. This one was really hard to write for some reason so hopefully it turned out okay.
Sam is at the front of the parade room beaming as he exclaims, "We're gonna run a sting!" It's pretty much a one day undercover and he's excited to say the least.
Frank begins explaining how the operation will go down. "Sunray Motors is opening their new dealership on Monday, but today they're lending it to us. Nash, Peck, McNally, make the prize notification calls. Use whatever numbers we have on file. Swarek is running point on this. As for the rest of you, assignments are on the board. Let's get out there."
The parade room started to empty, the last few stragglers slowly walking out as Frank started speaking to the officers working the sting. "Alright, we've only got a couple hours before we're starting this. Shaw, Williams, go down there with the tech crew and start getting the showroom wired. Make sure we get everyone mics before you leave though. Epstein, Diaz, Swarek, find any numbers we have on file; Nash, McNally, and Peck you're making the calls; you all need to be at the dealership by quarter to ten. Until then, go change, get your mics on and whatever else you need to do, just don't be late."
Grabbing copies of the list of offenders, they made their way out of the parade room. The girls headed for the equipment room, removing their belts and putting everything back where it belonged before trying the list of numbers.
Gail and Traci were done with their calls by the time Andy had finished calling all the numbers on her list. She stood up from the desk and looked around. With no luck, she started to walk towards the locker room, hoping they might be in there. She turned the corner to see Sam's back as he talked to Oliver. "Hey!" He took the mics from Oliver before turning towards her. She watched Oliver head out the doors, leaving them alone in the hall.
"Have you seen Traci?" She asked as she got closer to him.
"She just left, I told her I'd give you a ride." Andy turned to look for the rest of the rookies, not wanting to inconvenience him. "Deckstein left already too, so unless you want to walk you're stuck with me." He smiled at her, happy that she pretty much had to go with him.
She smiled as she started walking past him, "Let's go then."
They stopped at Sam's apartment first, Andy following behind him, not knowing exactly where she should stop and wait. He walked into the bedroom and headed for the closet, unfazed by the fact the Andy had just plopped herself on his bed. He grabbed his suit from the back of the closet and turned to throw it on the bed, stopping as his eyes settled on Andy.
"Comfy?"
She sighed out a quiet 'mhmm', remaining completely still.
"I'm just gonna go change and then we can head over to your place." He informed her as he made his way into the adjoining bathroom. He came out a few minutes later clad in a full suit and tie. He placed his folded uniform on the bed causing Andy to glance at him.
A smile spread across her face as she took in his new appearance. She had never seen him in a suit before, and she never expected that he would have a light purple button up and matching tie. "Purple, huh? Looks good on you."
He shook his at her teasingly, "You ready to go or did you want another five minutes to nap?"
She got to her feet, making a big show of how unhappy she was to be leaving her comfortable position. "I'm coming."
They made it to her apartment with twenty minutes before they needed to leave for the dealership. Sam followed her into her bedroom, plopping down on her bed, smiling cheekily at her as she threw a raised eyebrow at him. He threw his hands behind his head and stared at the ceiling as she threw her jacket onto the chaise and made her way to the closet. She pulled out a white button up and the trousers of a pantsuit.
"You have a pantsuit?" Sam asked as he rolled onto his side, moving to lean on his elbow.
She glared at him, "No. I have the pants of a pantsuit. The jacket that it came with wasn't even the same shade of blue. Now, if you don't mind, I'm going to go change."
"Do you have your mic?" He asked.
She shook her head. "It's in the kitchen."
He left the bedroom and came back with the mic and some tape. "You're going to want to tape it on under your shirt."
"Alright." She replied hesitantly before making her way into the bathroom.
He plopped back down onto the bed, closing his eyes this time. He had been waiting patiently for about five minutes when he heard her muffled voice. "Hey Sam?"
He hopped off the bed, stopping outside the bathroom door. "Yeah?"
"How am I supposed to get this mic on? I don't know where to put it?"
"Open the door."
She shook her head furiously. She was standing half naked in her bathroom, she wasn't about to let him in. "I'm sure I can do it if you could just tell me how exactly I'm supposed to go about doing it."
"Just open the door McNally."
She quickly threw her shirt on, buttoning it hastily before opening the door for him. He grabbed the mic from her hands, starting to untangle the wire. He glanced up at her before continuing to unknot the mess she had made. "You're going to need to take your shirt off." She started shaking her head again, but stopped when he started to speak. "I've seen you in a bra before you know. Sudbury? Remember that?"
She blushed at the memory as he smiled at her. "But…"
"But nothing McNally. We've got to leave in five minutes so take it off."
She sighed in frustration as she started unbuttoning her shirt. Sam watched her in the mirror, keeping his eyes on her face as she focused on the buttons before taking the shirt off and placing it on the bathroom sink. He grabbed a piece of tape, sticking it onto the mic as he asked her to turn towards him. She turned to face him, hands on her hips, eyes glaring at him. He shrugged, unfazed by her discontent, and threw a small smile up at her before taping the mic in between her breasts. He moved around her as he taped the wire along the bottom of her bra and down the middle of her back before gently hooking the mic pack into the back of her pants.
"All set." He said as he made his way to face her again. She grabbed her shirt off the sink, hurriedly buttoning it back up as he watched her. "Ready to go?" He asked as she finished tucking it back in.
"Yeah. Umm, thanks…..I guess." She says waving her hand around the tape and mic kit.
He nods as a smile starts to take over his face. "My pleasure…..you look pretty good in purple too." He adds, referring to her bra that he had just taped the wire to.
"Williams and Shaw will be running surveillance in back. Everyone in the showroom will have earpieces and you should be miked already. Your job is to stall the customers until Noelle and Oliver can confirm that it is one of our suspects. Once they've got it, you'll hear the signal in your earpiece. What is the signal?" Franks asks, stopping his pacing as he looks at Oliver.
"Bohemian Rhapsody." Oliver replies seriously.
"Once you hear the signal, get them into the office, out of sight, and make the arrest. Serve, protect, and get these guys off our streets."
They all grab their earpieces before unlocking the door and waiting for the first person to make their way in. A couple walks in a few minutes later, Sam and Dov head over to show them some cars as they wait to see if they should bring them to the back office. Gail watches from the desk in the corner as Andy, Traci, and Chris watch from the coffee machine.
Gail and Chris take the next guy that walks in, convincing him to go to the back with him before he can walk out the door. Sam walk back into the showroom just as two people make their way in. "Alright you guys take the librarian and we'll take fancy pants." Andy smiles at him as he grabs a balloon and heads over towards the guy that just walked in.
Leigh, the woman that they brought in from the sting, finally called her daughter for help and Andy's hoping she can grab her phone and head home. She walks into booking to see Sam writing something on his paperwork. He looks and grabs her phone off the counter next to his papers. "She's asleep." He informs her as he hands her phone to her.
"Thanks." She says as she starts walking to Leigh's cell, wanting to check for herself. "Yeah. It's probably one of the first good night sleeps she's had in a long time."
"Yeah, she said her daughter would be here in a few hours, she was hoping you would get to meet her."
She closes the window to Leigh's cell before turning back to him. "I'd love to, but I'm running off of four hours of sleep, nine coffees, and I really just want to fall into bed and sleep 'til Wednesday."
He's nodding his head, exhausted as well. "I just need to sign a few more papers, but then I'm heading out. You want a ride?"
A smile takes over her face, "That would be great. Thank you."
He pulls up to her apartment and turns to her, waiting for a goodbye from her, but instead she asks if he wants to come up and hang out for a little bit. He's not too surprised, considering the fact that it's basically a normal occurence for them. "I thought you wanted to fall into bed and sleep 'til Wednesday." He states.
"I do, but I can to that in a little bit." He shakes his head at her oddness, but turns the car off and climbs out.
She unlocks her door, leaving it open for Sam as she tosses her bag to the floor, kicks off her shoes and plops down, face first into her couch. He shuts the door and chuckles as he turns to see her spread along the couch, leaving him no seat. He sits on the floor, leaning against the end of the couch that Andy's head is resting at. She sighs as she lifts up her head and grabs a pillow to rest her chin on. Sam smiles as she gets situated, her eyes now meeting his.
"Did you have fun today?" She asks him.
His brows furrow, "Hmm?"
"The sting. It's kinda like undercover right? Pretending to be someone else." He lifts his arm, resting it along the edge of the couch as he shifts to lean into the couch more.
"Yeah, it was good."
Her eyes shift to the hand that is now placed on the couch. She moves her hand out from underneath the pillow and begins gently brushing her finger against his ring finger, right where a wedding band would go. "You were wearing a wedding ring today." She informs him as if he was unaware. She glances up at him, "What's the story with that? You married or something?"
They both laugh at the question. "Yeah McNally, I'm married, and my wife is totally fine with me spending all my free time with you."
Her hand stops tracing across his finger as she glares at him. "Fine. What's the story behind the ring though?"
He grabs her hand and flips it over so her palm is up and begins tracing patterns into her palm as he speaks. "Oliver gave it to me."
"Oliver proposed to you?! How cute!"
He sends her a warning look. "Do you want to hear the story or not?"
She pretends to zip her lips. "Alright. This happened years ago so I don't remember all the details, but Oliver came in one day complaining about some fight with Zoe. He tried to pull his ring off to throw it into his locker, but he couldn't get it off." Sam chuckles at the memory. "Oliver gained a few pounds after Izzy was born, ring didn't fit the same anymore. Took him five minutes to get it off. He was cursing the whole time." He pauses as Andy calms down enough for him to continue. "He shoved it into my hand and said he would never wear it again. The next day he came in with a new wedding ring, one that actually fit. I guess he and Zoe had made up, but when I tried to give him his ring back he told me to keep it. He said whenever I went undercover I would have something to remember him by, or if something ever happened to him I would always have something from him. So now I keep it in my locker at work and take it when I go undercover."
Andy couldn't help but stare at him, smile lighting up her face. They stayed silent for a minute, Andy still staring at Sam as he watches the pattern his fingers are making on her palm. "Would you use that as your wedding band if you get married?"
He lifts his head to look her in the eye. "I have no idea."
She closes her eyes and shifts her head to lie on the pillow. He continues to lightly trace over palm and wrist, content with the contact of skin. After a few minutes his exhaustion is setting in and he can't hold back the yawn that escapes his mouth. Andy's fingers close around his as he covers his mouth with his other hand. "You should go." She states, knowing that he needs to rest as much as she did.
"You kicking me out?" He asks as he puts his head against the arm rest. Her face lifts off the pillow as she turns to rest her chin on it again, looking at his droopy eyes and tired face. "Yes. We both need to sleep and I'd rather not have you here to witness me drooling, snoring or talking in my sleep. Not tonight at least."
"Some other night you'd be fine with me seeing you drool, snore, or talk in your sleep?" She nodded. "What's wrong with tonight?"
"I'll be in a very deep sleep tonight, considering that I only slept four hours last night, which could result in some extreme snoring or conversations."
"Or drooling. Got it. I guess I wouldn't want to witness extreme drooling." He stands up, pulling her up with him so she can accompany him the few steps to the door.
"I'll see you tomorrow at work then." She tells him as they stop at the door.
"Yes. Back in uniforms tomorrow." He says as he opens the door, slowly making his way through the threshold before turning to face her.
She nods. "You looked good in a suit, but I prefer the navy blue over the purple you had on."
"Good. I'll stick with the blue." He smiles mischievously at her before he adds. "You can have all the purple. It looked really good on you."
She shakes her head at him as he starts backing away, blush taking over her face. Leaning against the door she watches him walk away, chills running across her skin just thinking of his fingers grazing across her ribcage and down her spine while he had taped the wire. She closes the door gently before locking it and heading to bed, ready for some much needed sleep.
Let me know what you think! Favorite line or part?
Also, I need some help. In a few chapters, when Sam walks back the the station and Andy gets attacked in a storage locker, I need help thinking of ideas of why Sam gets mad and walks back to the station. In the show it had to do with Luke and since we kinda got rid of him early on I need ideas. So if you have any good ideas let me know! But they have to be realistic!
THANK YOU!
