The Beginning

(Following on from the end of Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask, for those who are not acquainted with Randall yet)

Disclaimer: I do not own the characters used, and this is purely fictional.

It was a late autumn day when Randall walked out of the prison, he was serving a few months for the trouble he caused being the Masked Gentleman in Monte d'Or. As he stepped outside he was met by a warm breeze and the familiar face of an old chum.

"Well if it isn't Hershel Layton", Randall said, seeing Layton walking over to him.

"Hello Randall, I thought that you could do with a familiar face on your release."

"You never change Hershel, so what mysteries have you been solving lately, well since you solved the puzzle of the Mask of Chaos, and the Mask of Order." Randall asked his pal as they walked over to Luke who was engrossed in a newspaper article.

"None Randall, I'm afraid life has been quiet since your little stunt."

"Oh that's a shame; I was looking forward to a good adventure with you Hershel, just like the good old days." Randall replied there was obviously some disappointment as he was unable to go on an adventure.

"Professor, Randall, look, I think we will be able to go on an adventure."

"Why what's going on" Layton replied.

"Monuments, landmarks have been disappearing."

"Now Luke, it's probably done with mirrors." Randall replied.

"No honestly, Big Ben, the Eiffel Tower, the Angel of the North all missing, nothing remains, it's like they were teleported away, people are walking over the foundations which is proof that they have disappeared. I'm not lying." Luke said, handing Layton the newspaper.

"Indeed Luke, it seems you're right, but who would be able to pull this off."

"Descole" Randall replied.

"Or Don Paulo." Luke added.

"You never know, we could be facing a new enemy" Layton added.

"Well Hershel, shall we go and do some research."

"Indeed Randall that is the first point of any investigation. Let's go back to Gressenheller University; we can look at news reports there before beginning the investigation fully."

"Professor does this mean we get to go to France."

"Yes Luke, it does." Layton replied, and with that the three of them got into the Laytonmobile and made their way back to the university.

Meanwhile on a remote island in the North Atlantic a man smiled with glee.

"Those fools won't know where to begin with this investigation."

"No they won't but why leave a calling card; they can trace you with that you know." A young woman replied.

"Because Danielle, the investigators won't know it is me."

"Angel, it's a bit religious isn't it."

"Yes and no my little demon, Angel signifies someone pure and also it means heavenly. So they will be running around in circles." Angel replied, he smiled, his plan was right on schedule.

"So you're sure we won't be caught."

"No Danielle, not as long as I use Angel and you use Demon, we won't be caught."

""But what about him." Danielle asked.

"Who Layton", Danielle nodded in response. "Oh we don't have to worry about him for now. He might be a problem in the near future but all we have to do is threaten his little brat of an assistant and he'll fall to his knees."

"You mean kidnap Luke if things get out of hand."

"Yes Demon that is exactly what I mean."

"Well why not say that in the first place."

"Because it made me sound clever, ok."

"Ok so what monument next."

"I don't know; let's see what the investigators do." Danielle and Angel smiled.
