The Doctor is about 1,000 years of age. Though no one knows his age or name, he is said to be the loneliest man in the universe. The Timelords were all killed in a war against the Daleks, the Time War. The Doctor did what he thought was right. He killed, or at least thought he had killed, all of the Daleks, but killed his race in the process.

He has had numerous Companions throughout his life. Some of which, he had semi-romantic relationships with, such as Rose Tyler and River Song. He has lost so many of them. All of his friends have left or died or even torn away from him. All of them he loved. All of them were family.

The Doctor has regenerated 10 times, he is on his 11 incarnation. His "wife" River Song, The Child of the TARDIS, also has the capability of regenerating. She has used all of her regenerations, so she cannot regenerate anymore. The Doctor really loved her, but she left, she died. Now, The Doctor loves Clara. He even wrote her a note, he was just too scared to give it to her.
