Chapter 01
P.S. I prefer to use bold for the focus of the POVs because it means that the transition between the characters is far more smoother in my opinion, so, without further ado.
Bokomon
Bokomon, Neemon and the three young celestial Digimon watched a Trailmon from up on a cliff top – Swanmon and the digi eggs were safely on their way back to the new primary village. The children had returned back home, and Lucemon had been defeated, so harmony was slowly being restored to the Digital World. For the moment.
"So the Digital World has been restored to what it once was," Bokomon started to say, happy that the three celestial Digimon were back together again- even if it meant that the Digidestined children weren't around anymore. "And my babies are back together again!"
Bokomon's eyes began to shine as he watched the three rookie Digimon playing. He wondered how long it would have been before everything returned completely back to normal. Honestly, he had thought that he might not live to see it once he experienced the awakening of Lucemon, but with the children bonding together as one entity named Susanoomon, Bokomon knew that Lucemon didn't stand a chance.
"That's right Papamon." Patamon beamed at the little white Digimon who had raised him from egg to Digimon.
Salamon bounded up to the edge of the cliff. "It's nearly all back to normal," she smiled, scanning the horizon as Lopmon joined her, putting a comforting arm around her.
"And it will stay that way," the little bunny reassured Salamon, even if Salamon wasn't completely convinced.
Bokomon walked up towards the two Digimon. "But you must remember that the legendary warriors will have to start all over again if the darkness returns. Their data will be reconfigured, just like yours was. For now, it's looks like we'll just have to hope that no evil Digimon return to the primary village," Bokomon explained calmly, trying to open the eyes of the three rookies. "However much I would like to see Koji, and Takuya again- all of them…"
Swanmon was busy tending to the baby Digimon, when she began to remember how much easier it was when people were there to aid her. When the legendary warriors were there to help, it felt calm and peaceful, but it wasn't like that anymore. Now, Swanmon was on her own- without even a rookie Digimon to help her.
"Calm down… I'm coming… Please, don't cry," Swanmon pleading, only panicking more. The poor Digimon was completely rushed off her feet, so much so, that she didn't even realise that a group of Gazimon were stealing specifically selected digi eggs.
"Oh Chaosmon- he's going to love us for getting these digi eggs," one of the Gazimon spat, grinning with pride- but a dark kind of pride.
"Quick – let's load them up onto the Trailmon then!" another Gazimon whispered abruptly from the Dark Trailmon that was waiting at the primary village station platform.
"Look Papamon, someone's riding the Dark Trailmon," Patamon said with a tone that implied everything was alright.
But to Bokomon, that wasn't the case. He believed that the Dark Trailmon had disappeared – along with Lucemon, none of them existed when all the darkness had been eradicated from the Digital World. He had to see for himself, but Patamon was right. Bokomon couldn't shake the niggling feeling that what he ever wanted to happen, might actually be happening.
The darkness was growing stronger.
"What? Patamon- you're right. But I didn't know there were any Dark Trailmon active in the Digital World…" Bokomon added, flicking through his trusty little book, hoping to find out some vital information, yet none of the pages were of any use whatsoever.
"Well you don't sound like that's a good thing. Bokomon?" Neemon said wearily.
Irritated by his companion's idiocy, Bokomon reached out for the waist band of Neemon's pants. Pulling them and stretching the elastic, Bokomon then let it go causing Neemon to dance about in pain.
"Oohhuhuhu! I wish you wouldn't do that Bokomon, you'll ruin my pants. And my Digi-mummy won't make me another pair."
"Neemon! Oh… What on Digi-earth are we going to do now?"
Salamon bounced up and down like a little ping pong ball. "We could digivolve and contact the legendary warriors."
Bokomon look out at the Digital World where he saw that the vegetation had also begun to thrive, and if this Dark Trailmon was really there, then there was still a little darkness left. "Salamon- that's an excellent idea," he started, trying to sound enthusiastic. "Go on, right away. Let's start some digivolutions!" Bokomon hoped that the three Digimon would know exactly what to do, because he himself had no information to pass on to them.
The three rookie Digimon seemed to have no idea what to do, so they waited, and left Bokomon with Neemon on the clifftop. When the three celestial Digimon returned, they were no longer rookies.
"Oh Patamon- Lopmon, and Salamon, you look so grown up! It's hard to believe that I knew you as just tiny digi eggs," squealed Bokomon with great enthusiasm.
"But Papamon, I'm no longer Patamon. I'm Angemon, the angel of light," Angemon corrected the little white Digimon, even if Papamon didn't seem like a word that this angelic Digimon would use.
Bokomon didn't mind, his eyes only shone brighter at the sound of Papamon.
Salamon had now become a slightly bigger and more fierce looking feline Digimon, known as Gatomon – Lopmon had taken up a more bad-ass appearance in the form of Turuiemon, who was keen to start searching for the others.
"Well, this may be harder now- we have to find the children we couldn't find the first time," Gatomon said, looking down at her claws. "The children who would have inherited the spirits of steel, earth, wood and water."
Bokomon was confused by Gatomon's logic ad had to question it. "I never knew that there were children for those spirits. I just thought that the other four were the original Digimon."
"Well Papamon," Angemon placed a hand beside Bokomon. "Whenthe other children were not successfully contacted like we hoped we would have been able to, this meant that their spirits were not collected. None of the other children who followed Ophanimon's message were capable or strong enough to be legendary warriors like Zoe, Tommy and the others," Angemon explained the details of the situation to Bokomon, who only began to wonder what the teens were doing now.
Koichi Kimura was walking slowly between English and Art class, just enjoying the calmness of the corridors when he was late. Outside the windows, he could see the gentle breeze blowing through the trees and the empty playground. As his attention was so focused on the peaceful and relaxed outside, he didn't even notice a girl running along the corridor.
She knocked into him, sending her books, folders and loose sheets across the empty corridor. As Koichi looked up from the floor, their eyes locked, she had these beautiful sea blue eyes that stood out. He had never seen eyes so blue before.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry. I can't tell what's mine and what's yours," the girl stammered, gathering up the sheets from the cold floor with her white fingerless gloves. "I'm sorry, I'm Naomi. I moved here from Osaka just the other day, my foster mum's got a job close by."
"I'm Koichi. Where are you going to? I can show you the way if you'd like," he replied, picking up one of the thicker books.
"Oh- I- I think I have art next…"
"So do I, come with me." Koichi walked a little ahead of Naomi, he didn't really know what to talk to her about because normally he would talk about the Digital world with Zoe, but she wasn't there, Naomi was.
It had been almost four years since the children had returned from their adventure in the Digital World, but neither him nor Zoe could stop talking about it. This was hard because Koichi still felt alone and in the dark. Koji was so far away, and their mother was struggling more than before which forced Koichi to lose out on social events because of his devotion to his mother.
When Koichi and Naomi got to the art workshop, the new art teacher Mrs Miyamoni watched them sit down in the only two spare seats. They were positioned at the table in front of Zoe and one of her friends.
"Would you mind telling me where you have been, Naomi? I thought you were going to be here early," the teacher said, folding her arms, making Naomi go red in embarrassment and shy away. This teacher, was her foster mother.
Koichi took the opportunity to save the day and take the pressure off of the new girl. "I'm sorry, Mrs Miyamoni. It's my fault – I accidently knocked into her in the corridor just now- I'm the reason why she's late…" he explained slowly before Mrs Miyamoni turned back to the whiteboard and started her lesson.
Zoe Orimoto gently poked Koichi in the back with the rubber end of her pencil.
"Ow- hey, what was that for?" Koichi whispered, slowly turning around to face her.
"Where were you?" Zoe asked. "I thought you'd be here."
Mrs Miyamoni called out for Koichi to face the front of the room.
"Like I said Zoe, I knocked into Naomi in the corridor," Koichi managed to swiftly reply, before returning his attention back to the front.
Over in a school on the other side of Shinjuku, was Takuya Kanbara- he was also running late. He sprinted through the building, barely even stopping when people told him to slow down. Science class was waiting and it was one of his most liked subjects.
"Takuya Kanbara, late again. As a result of that, you'll be on buddy duty, and hopefully you'll learn to be on time to my lessons…" the teacher sighed, stuffing his withered hands into the pockets of his white lab coat. "The receptionist will tell you where to go."
With a roll of his eyes, Takuya considered whether he could ditch this buddy duty, but he knew that his parents would come down on him together, harder than a brick house.
The buddy duty. It was a scheme set up by a group of senior students where an older pupil would take on a younger pupil to support them and check how they are doing. It always seemed that whenever there was a planned science experiment, that whether Takuya was late or not, that he would be put on buddy duty. To say that Takuya hated this was an underestimation- it was a nuisance. As he scuffed down the corridor, he dreaded it with every step he took. The receptionist directed him into the library where he saw J.P talking to a younger looking kid with large, circular glasses and flattened dark brown hair.
"Takuya – back here again, anyone would think that you wanted to be here!" J.P laughed. Yes, J.P was one of the senior students who had set up the buddy system because of the amount of free periods he had, and let's just say, he was proud of its success.
"Who am I with this time, J.P?" sighed Takuya, slumping down on a desk between two rows of bookcases.
"I'm bumping you up. This kid called Nori Satomi. He may be a year younger than you, but let's just say he's got a little bit of an attitude. He'll be a challenge though, I am sure you can handle him. You did fine with that eighth grade kid last month. Nori, come over here." J.P went around the bookcase to bring Takuya's 'buddy' over. "Nori, this is Takuya. Takuya, this is Nori- why don't you take a seat here and I'll be back to check up on you guys later." J.P turned away, going back to his own buddy. "Okay Tao, if we are finished then you can go back to class."
"Thanks J.P," the boy said awkwardly, before leaving the room.
J.P's buddy Tao headed back to his lesson, when he arrived, there was only one seat available. Next to Tommy Himi who had harnessed the spare space to spread out his work.
"Tommy, I'd like you to move over so that Tao can sit down beside you," the teacher instructed to Tommy, who obligingly gathered up his stuff into a smaller pile.
"It's you then…" Tao murmured quietly.
"Yeah, I'm just going to get on with this work because my parents don't want me to fall behind."
"Okay, well I guess so. You know, you're a little tetchy sometimes…"
Tommy rolled his eyes, Tao was pushing it every single time they ended up sitting beside one another. "Why don't you complain to your buddy?" Tommy paused, instantly regretting what he had said. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that."
"It's okay. I actually like talking to J.P, he's really nice."
"J.P- as in Junpei Shibayama…" Tommy's mind was thrown back four years ago to the time he spent with J.P.
"That's him, you know him?" Tao asked, eager to know more, even if it meant that it would make Tommy uncomfortable. "Tommy?"
Tommy opened up a text book to get on with an exercise. "I do, we're good friends. We spent a lot of time together in the past four years ago- like a summer camp in a way."
Tao raised his eyebrows, as if he was piecing together what Tommy was saying, with what J.P had told him. "That's cool."
Koichi's new friend, Naomi Hitoshi, was sitting on a short wall by the school's entrance as she waited for her foster mother to arrive to take her and her biological brother, Riku, home.
"How was your first day of big school, RIku?" Naomi asked, crossing her ankles.
"It was okay…" Her brother pulled the sleeve of his school shirt down further with a sharp tug.
Naomi noticed this and sharply leapt off the wall and yanked up her brother's sleeve. "Riku- what's that- what happened to you?" she asked, deeply inspecting his arm where a dark purple bruise was now imprinted onto.
"That. I did that playing football, okay?" Riku snapped, pulling his arm from his sister's grip.
"Come on little guy, why are you lying to me?" His sister stopped and slumped back down onto the wall. "Why do you keep insisting on hiding things from me? I thought you promised that we were a team…"
Ever since Naomi's parents abandoned her and her baby brother, they had been like partners that were always looking out for each other. In the care home, she insisted that they stayed together, and that they should be fostered or adopted together.
Only a 'short' train journey away, in the Digital World, the Gazimon were presenting Lord Chaosmon with the digi eggs that they had stolen. Chaosmon was not as pleased as they thought he would be.
"Gazimon- why have you brought me these eggs?" a dark figure shouted, throwing one of the digi eggs aside,
One of the Gazimon stumbled to catch it. "Oh Chaosmon, these are the powerful royal knights. You see, Lucemon was only lucky enough to recruit Crusadermon and Dynasmon, but you can recruit them all. Then you can claim the Digital World as your own."
"Brilliant… So I could recruit all thirteen royal knights, but you don't even know the thirteenth's identity?" Chaosmon kicked back onto the tall throne of the dark and dimly lit room.
"Well that is a problem Lord Chaosmon…"
"Then why have I only got six digi eggs for thirteen of the royal knights? Come on, I'm waiting for an answer…"
"Erm. Well it was really an impulse decision, Lord Chaosmon. We didn't want the Swanmon to spot us…"
"You didn't want a single weak Swanmon to spot you? You didn't want a single weak Swanmon to spot you!" Chaosmon repeated with a sharp tongue in total disgust at the Gazimon's cowardice.
"Turuiemon, are you ready to contact the children?" Bokomon asked, looking up at the powerful champion level Digimon. "This is very experimental, you've not done anything like this before."
"I'm ready. We have to do this- for all the good that is in the Digital World." Turuiemon paused and glanced down at the grass. "There's something I've been meaning to say… A dream has been plaguing my mind. A dream where true evil comes to this world. We need all of the ten legendary warriors to vanquish it from out world- not half of them like the last time." Turuiemon shook a little, trying to convince the other that it wasn't going to be so disastrous.
Angemon sat down, cross legged and started to think. "But Turuiemon, the children that we met still managed to defeat Lucemon, and need I remind you that you were once posing a threat to the children…"
Turuiemon flinched. "I know. That may seem harsh, but that was not all my fault. Lucemon was another enemy." Turuiemon held hands with Angemon and Gatomon in a small circle before closing their eyes gently. "Children- listen to my voice. The Digital World calls to you. Fire, water, earth, light, darkness, thunder, wood, wind, steel and ice… It is up to you. I call you now to make the choice."
Thoughts from AspiringWriterGirl = So we've met some new faces, well Naomi, but is she going to go to the digital world this time or is she just my red herring? So who are the other four children who will join the original six Frontier digidestined?
