Travel

For at least the first hour of I trip I just sat silently cuddled against Seth letting the tears fall. I didn't want to leave I wanted to be able to stay with Brady. However at the same time I wanted to be there to protect Isaac. The whole thing confused me so much, but not only was it confusing it hurt too. Finally when I was able to stop crying I pulled the note my dad had my pocket. It only made my head spin more trying to read it. After about five minutes I decided to stuff it back in my pocket and ask Seth about it later. I decided to watch where we are headed. After about another hour Seth found a place to

stop.

"Are you doing alright Rye?"

"Yeah"

"Are you sure? You were crying for quite a while."

"I'm alright for now."

"Alright, why don't we get something to eat then? I think we have another two hours of driving left."

I was almost afraid that if I talked any more that I would cry again so I just nodded my head in response to him. We headed inside to the dinner.

Brady's POV

It has been three days since Bryanne and Seth left. The guys all made fun of me for kissing Rye and telling her that I loved her. Well, everyone except Jake, had it been under different circumstances I'm sure that he would have kicked my ass. So what if I'm not her imprint and she isn't mine. Isaac doesn't want her anyway. She deserved for her first kiss to come from someone who truly cares about her. I quickly grew tired of the shit the guys kept giving me so I locked myself in her room. I have stayed here every night since she left.

It doesn't look much like her room anymore though. In fact it doesn't even really look like it is a girl's room. Before we moved in I helped her paint the walls a light shade of grey and the flooring is white carpet. Without all of her clothes spilling out of the too small closet and the large pile of shoes and handbags in the corner it just looks empty. Not much was left behind other than a few of her car and motorcycle magazines of the dark espresso colored desk.

The only thing that gives away the fact that the room might belong to a girl is hidden under the white comforter on the bed. Under the white comforter is a set of teal satin sheets. I know they are teal because when we moved in Rye got in a three hour argument with Embry about how they weren't green. That's Rye though simple and elegant, with a touch of attitude.

Other than the magazines that I found in the bottom desk draw and the bed the only thing left was a sweatshirt I found under the bed. It's not really even her sweatshirt. It is one of the two of mine that she stole. She took both of them at different times telling me that she was cold and need them to sleep in. The both happened to be times when we were places that she couldn't really hunt. I'm not sure where we were when she took this one but I know the other was from when we first moved here. I only hope that the other one is with her because she has had it every night since she took it. It would mean that she had part of me with her, more than just a kiss good bye. Kind of like how I have been sleeping in her bed.

Jake told me yesterday that there would be places along Rye and Seth's rout of travel when it would be safe for them to call us. Knowing my luck I will probably be out on patrol when it happens. I'm not sure if he told me about if for my sake or if he just had to say it out loud for himself. I wish that I had been included in the meeting when all of this was decided and told about it later. I would have fought to be the one to go instead of Seth. Part of me believes that Jake knows I would have and that is why they chose to decide while Jake had me watching over Rye and Isaac. When I had asked Jake about it yesterday he said that they thought she would be more comfortable with Seth because he is one of her uncles. That's a lie though, Bryanne is just fine with each and every one of us pack members. Besides it that where the case they would have sent me because I am the closest to her or even Leah.

One Week

It's been one week since Seth and I left home. The more time that has passed the easier but it hasn't. Seth say that it is because I'm not doing well. He is out getting our next clue so that we can move on as soon as possible. I should be out there getting it with him but I can't. Traveling takes all of the energy and focus I have. Where we stopped yesterday we were able to phase, but we haven't been where I can hunt.

"Bryanne, I got it. The clue was where you thought it would be."

"Good I was hoping it would be there."

"Do you think you are ready to travel again yet?"

"Maybe, where are we going next?"

"I don't know I haven't looked yet."

He handed me a thick white envelope. So far we have traveled farther south in California and now are headed east. At least we have gone east for where we were. When I opened the envelope three track phones and two sheets of paper fell out. I picked up the paper that wasn't parchment like the other clues. I handed it to Seth to read.

"It says that we can use each one to make one phone call."

"Really?"

He handed me the paper back and I quickly read it.

"Who are we going to call?"

"Why don't we use one to call Jake and another to call Renesmee, and then you can use the last one to call whoever you want."

"No, Seth if we are calling both of my parents you should get to make the last one."

"Rye, it might help you feel better."

"Seth, we both know that's not true."

He signed and didn't argue with me. We both knew that the only thing that would make me somewhat better would be to hunt. It's been far too long and my body won't even accept human food right now. Phasing made me stronger yesterday but that only affected me while I was a wolf.

We called my mom first. She wasn't expecting our call until tomorrow because we are actually a day ahead. Once Seth explained why though she understood and said that she would tell Grandpa Edward. Mom told us that part of the reason we are traveling the way we are is in case there are trackers. She wouldn't tell me who might have trackers though. I did learn that there was a point to each of our main stops along the way. She said that we would know because there would be a lot more information in our clues about them and we'll stay there longer.

After we called my mom, we called my dad. He said that the pack was doing well and that Isaac is safe. He hasn't talked to him only watched from a distance. Everyone else was on patrol except for Leah so we got to say hi to her. When I was done talking to my dad I talked to Leah for a few moments and then I let Seth talk to her alone. I thought it was only fair for him to get to talk to her since she is his sister. Before he hung up dad told him that he had to destroy the phones.

Seth did end up arguing with me some more about who was going to make the last call. Saying the only one he really wanted to talk to was Leah and he got to do that while we were on the phone with my dad. I told him that wasn't true because he usually calls his mom, Grandma Sue at least once a week. I was the one that ended up winning the argument. He took it out of the hotel room to make the call and didn't put it on speaker so I couldn't hear who it was. Seth came back in a few minutes later with the phone still to his ear.

"Rye someone wants to talk to you."

He handed me the phone and then left the room again with the other two before I could even put the phone to me ear.

"Hello?"

"Hello, beautiful."

"Brady?"

"Yes, silly. Seth called me and told me that you aren't doing well. He said that you can hardly travel. What's wrong sweetheart?"

"Remember when we went hunting two weeks before I left?"

"Yeah, we had a contest to see who could get the largest bear."

Just talking about hunting made my throat burn.

"That's why I'm not doing well. I haven't been hunting since then. When I told mom she said that it would still be several days before I can hunt."

"Rye that isn't good, Seth said that you were sick to the point that you are throwing up."

"I have been every time after I eat human food. Dad forgot to make sure that I hunted before we left."

"Are you going to be alright until you can hunt?"

"Mom said that as long I don't start throwing up blood it will be alright."

"Rye that sounds serious."

"It will be alright I promise."

Unfortunately I wasn't able to talk to Brady much longer than that. He had to get back to patrol and we only had so much time on each phone. It was nice that I got to talk to Brady and I thanked Seth for the opportunity. Seth told me that he had originally called Embry and the two of them had been together. Seth was right though part of me did feel better since I got to talk to Brady. However I felt a sharp pain run though my chest knowing that I didn't get a chance to Isaac. In that moment I promised myself that the next time I got to use the phone I would try to call Isaac first.
