Chapter 15-*Brother or Foe?*

Alfred awoke earlier than usual and looked upon the sleeping face of his Master. He smiled gently a smile that was rare, instead of the mischievous one he usually wore. Caressing his face gently. Purple eyes sleepily opened to meet his blues. Groaning Ivan closed his eyes and reached an arm to pull Alfred in closer to avoid the morning chill. Staring at those lovely silver eyelashes the boy cuddled into the larger form. It seemed no matter how much growing the boy did, he would never be as tall or built like the Russian.

As it always seemed, somebody always had to disturb their peaceful moment. A knock came and the intruder opened the door. It was just Estonia. His blonde hair that never strayed from it's almost bowl cut look shining with the sun.

"Lord Ivan, it is breakfast time. Lord Maxim has requested both you and Lord Alfred be there." He slightly flinched at calling Alfred his lord. He was a child for Heaven's sake! But, he was always oh-so good at keeping his opinions and emotions in control unlike Lithuania and Latvia. It's why he was usually left alone by Russia. He was always too "boring", but smart. Sure, sometimes he was brave enough to accuse Russia of a crime or two which earned him a chase by his magical pipe of pain. But... He never was brave enough to stand up to America... The boy was too insane! He was irritated with his fear of him. Saying that about someone other than Russia was a feet, probably, but nobody would think of anybody else to be so violent and cruel with a face of an angel.

"Thank you Estonia." Ivan grumbled and stepped out of bed naked as he was. Alfred glared at him and Eduard gave a slight shiver and could have sworn he couldn't breathe. Like a predator who smelled fear Alfred smirked noticing with his glaring eyes returning to that of childish innocence and delight. He stayed in bed unlike his Master. Master didn't like Alfred revealing his body unless commanded to like with Arthur in the dungeon. "You may go."

Alfred continued his delight in scaring him simply by lifting his hand to wave a few fingers in a "Ta Ta~" motion. Estonia bowed and left with diligence.

'I think I'll just make tea.' Estonia finally allowed himself to shiver and take deep breaths. 'It's true what they say that the devil wears the face of an angel. Specifically a child.' He walked faster from the room as if feeling something following him.

Back in the bedroom, Alfred got out from underneath the covers and helped his Master with the rest of his dressing. Kissing his pale chest before buttoning him up. Ivan grinned at his affection happy his America was his. 'Hmm. I wonder what Maxim needs for I thought we went over everything today?' Ivan questioned to himself.

"Master?" Getting his attention Ivan turned to his colony.

"Da, Fredya?"

"Will Native America, France, and Canada be present?" Using their formal names as was proper and to express emotional detachment. Needless to say, America didn't take kindly to those he considered traitorous no matter how small the crime.

Ivan tensed knowing it was now time for Alfred's test to see how he would do seeing his old family. A test to see where his loyalty will lie with his collar loosened a little. "Da... They will be. Maxim has requested it with great reason." In the conversation with his Commander the other day, they discussed the benefits of having the French colony along with his father nation be in an alliance with them. Very soon the English Royal Family will hear about how their part of the New World was usurped from underneath their feet. They say if a nation personification was injured enough, it might show reflections back in their homeland. Just like how if a natural disaster were to occur, their bodies will show random lacerations or bruises. Whether in peace or war time, they could hear the thoughts and feelings of their people. With these thoughts the pair walked down the hall to the office where their guests were waiting. Well, except England that is.

Alfred looked to Ivan with permission to open the door for him. Russia nodded. The young man turned the handle and for the first time in a long time saw his birth mother before him. Her red tanned skin and long dark raven hair recognizable. Her youth hadn't changed at all from the time he was a babe. The tension was high in the room for Canada was there too with nothing more than the desire to hug his brother, but the cold look in America's eyes held him standing. Their hair color and body almost alike in every way. Canada felt his chest tighten and the atmosphere hard to breath. France knowing put his hand comforting his adopted son.

The tall bearded man standing at attention behind the desk was Maxim Pavel. "Welcome Lord Braginsky and Lord Alfred." He felt his wife turn to glare at him accusingly. He couldn't blame her. "I hope you have been more than comfortable in your home." He smiled pointedly at Alfred.

The tension seemed to leave as Alfred smiled back politely, but didn't speak. Ivan placed a hand on his back to signal it was okay to answer. "I have been well. Thank you Commander Maxim." He looked at Native America. "I see you have married my mother." Russia checked his colonys emotions, not sure where Alfred was going with this. "Isn't it customary to get the man of the family's blessing before asking for the womans hand? Or you did you not think to ask because I'm a child?" He emphasized the word sarcastically for he was technically much older than the man in front of him.

Maxims shoulders straightened remembering the fact that Lord Alfred was a country. Native America finally found her strength to speak. "Little Sun..."

"Alfred." Said boy glared at her with no sense of love a son should for his mother.

Her dark eyes showed her heart break at seeing the connection they once had was no longer there. "Alfred, it is not such a big deal."

"Not a big deal?" He looked at his Master. "What do you think Master?"

Ivan smiling with his eyes closed enjoying the show. "Traditions and customs should be honored." He noticed his Commander walk from behind the desk to bow before his young colony.

The Cossack swallowed his pride. "I apologize for not thinking to send a letter asking for your blessing to marry Nadya, United Russian States of America." Saying his official name to show his respect.

Alfred was amused at the man so easily brought to his knees. He placed his hands on his hands. "You may stand. You have my blessing, of course~!" Turning everyone in the room on their heads as to why he made such a commotion in the first place. He playfully twirled in place and hugged his Master. His head turning to look back at the flabbergasted Russian. "If you didn't, you would be dead already." He giggled.

"Now, now Fredya don't scare my subordinate." Ivan scolded him lightly. 'He's learning to be unpredictable. That's a good trait to have to survive as a country.' He thought.

"I'm sorry Master." Though, he wasn't. Not really.

Maxim coughed. "I believe it's time to get this meeting underway."

"Um... But, first..." Canada shyly spoke up his quiet voice almost going unnoticed.

France smiled encouraging him. "Speak up mon petite enfant."

"Brother!" Canada called out to Alfred. He couldn't hold himself and ran to hug his big brother after so long. Tears coming down his face.

America allowed the hug to happen though looked at the younger northern nation questioningly. "Who are you?" Of course, he knew of his younger brother as a Nation, but no longer as the person standing before him. To Alfred his brother might be blood related, but was a complete stranger.

"Canada... Maple Leaf... Matthew Williams... I'm your younger brother!" He continued to hold him. "Please say you haven't forgotten me!" He may have grown apart and raised separately from his big brother, but it didn't change the fact they were always together. Geographically speaking, they never parted and Canada held onto that bond no matter how small it was.

The small bit of information and emotional display told Alfred all he needed to know. He decided the younger brother in front of him was no threat to him or his master. Knowing Ivan was watching with careful eyes. Plus, Matthew gave a small warm feeling he hadn't felt in... a long while. Alfred closed his eyes thinking how to respond. He placed his arms around the slightly smaller frame than his. Cuddling his face into Canada's neck. "Yes. I remember... Looks like being a cry baby hasn't changed."

Canada pulled away his tears making his pout more pronounced. "I'm not a cry baby!"

"See? You're crying right now!" This old squabble brought back good memories for both of them. Native America saw a hope then that she could possibly rekindle a relationship with her eldest son. She stayed silent in her thoughts for fear of the large pale nation in the room. How she wished she was strong enough to take him down. She couldn't even fight a normal human for she was pregnant. She couldn't and wouldn't risk her new child. Her arms went back by instinct protecting her belly that continued to grow.

Ivan put an end to the sentimental scene. "Enough." His tone was not to be disobeyed. Discussing terms with France and Maxim over purchasing some of the land. Native America stayed present for her people were involved as well. The various main tribes in the land consisted of the Pawnee, Sioux, Cheyenne, and a little further south was the Apache. Maybe a bit of the Choctaw tribe as well. The brothers stayed sitting and taking comfort the other was there. The northern American pair together at last. They took a short break for lunch a little later keeping the topics as light as the weather. Then it was back to the stuffy office.

The meeting was then completed with the Louisiana purchase being fulfilled. France sighed in relief. He got a hefty sum out of the deal, but left with no land from Alfred's territory. He shook the young mans hand. "Congratulations Alfred." Shaking Ivan's hand as well. "And to you too old friend."

They all walked away Matthew glancing back longingly just like Alfred was back at him. Alfred paused causing Ivan to stop. Using his eyes to ask to speak to his brother again. Ivan cautiously nodded.

The young nation grinned as he ran up to hug his brother. "Canada!" Canada grinned a little blush appearing to show how happy he was. That was until his expression turned to confusion for his brother whispered. "I'm so glad I have a little brother... For now... We have no idea what the future holds after all. You will continue to be an ally to the United Russian States won't you?" With that Alfred kissed his brother farewell on the cheek.

The Canadian waved while saying, "Always!" Hoping his brother heard him as he rejoined his master down the long hallway. Matthew left with France to get some rest before the morning for they were going back out to sea. Alfred and Ivan of course seen them off graciously.

Even England! Before settling him on the ship, Alfred made sure to get some fun by reversing the procedure and took out the sutures he made to sew the Brits mouth shut. Dare he say it caused more lovely screams of agony coming undone than it was sticking the needle in over and over. He redressed him and tied him up. He had to make sure the Empire was presentable after all. He wasn't rude to leave him in tattered clothes. Sure, Alfred might've used his connections to place the poor little Empire in the cargo hold. He laughed madly thinking of the British peoples reactions to finding their nation the way he is. 'They are bound to be in for a shock.' he giggled at his little pun. He couldn't wait for the red coats to respond. Would they cower? Or would they risk the Atlantic voyage to go to war? Ivan couldn't have been prouder. Laughing at the dinner table. To the two it was one big game.

Lithuania fidgeted gathering the courage to ask. "D- Don't you th-think you went a little f-far?"

Alfred turned on the charm with a cute tilt of his head. Estonia who was near knew it wasn't meant to be cute. "It's only a little prank." Latvia shivered remembering his past 'pranks.' His relaxed stance changed as a thought came to his head. "I forgot!"

Ivan raised his brow. "What is it dear Fredya?"

He looked panicked and sad at the same time. "You... Have to go soon too..." The Tsar had ordered Russia to return to see how America would do without his guidance.

'Thank God.' Thought the Baltic Trio. They knew how to deal with Russia's insanity, but the American was on a whole other level of crazy. They were so elated to also heading back with Russia. Which they never thought possible. After dinner, Lithuania was ordered to start the bath. Estonia to help Latvia clean up.

Alfred scoffed at Ivan. "Are you're leaders so incompetent without you?" His eyes gleaming with disdain. He waited to take that tone with Ivan when they were alone in the bedroom.

The man sighed "Yes, sadly they are." Though it didn't bother Ivan so much for it meant he had a constant job and his assurance of his continued existence. "Luckily, I have you to help me now my darling Amerika.~" Ivan smiled rubbing his face against the young nations. Alfred purred back.

"Of course Vanya! Anything for you." He snuggled back with Eskimo kisses. At least, before his master left. He would get as much delicious pleasure he wanted. It was what his master wanted after all. Alfred was happy it was him.

Also, it would be fun to have some time to himself. Spend some time with his Native Mother. His new friend Mexico. Have Maxim help him 'fix' and tie loose ends in the new territories. Make new settlements out West and in the South. Before Ivan left he gave Alfred one simple command.

"Have fun." Oh, and what fun Alfred was going to have.
