I'm not going to even start apologizing. It's been wild. To redeem myself, there is fluff in this chapter. Also, one of the reasons it took me so long to update was the lack of reviews on the last chapter. It kind of bummed me out so I didn't have much motivation to get this next section up. Enjoy.
Kid Flash: Aw, is the Mad Hatter a little sad?
No...
Kid: Don't lie.
Fine. Yes. I'm sad. But I'm hoping that this next update will rake in some reviews.
Kid: They aren't going to want to review much if you waited this long to post the next chapter.
Kid. Shut it.
Kid: I know what will make you feel better! CARTOON CRUSHES! BU DU DADA DADA DUT DUT DA DA.
That's a carnival theme.
Kid: Don't care. Start talkin'.
Hm...well I've just gotten into this anime called Brothers' Conflict and it's kinda beautiful and omg Natsume Asahina o_o
Kid: He's the ginger triplet, right?
...how do you know that?
Kid: *AHEM* LUCKY GUESS. ON WITH THE SHOW.
Oh no you don't! You're going to explain yourself! Get back here Kid Flash!

Titans Tower was exactly as I remembered it. Nothing about the setup had changed since the HIVE 5 had taken over. I snorted when I recalled Raven's room and the similarities between our styles. The blue cloaks were a little much for me but I really did like the décor in her room. However, I would definitely take a blue cloak over the white cotton t-shirt and shorts I was wearing at the moment. I looked like a patient in a mental ward.
Kid Flash and I entered the main living area and headed to the kitchen. Kid let go of my hand and zipped to the fridge where he examined the contents carefully. I awkwardly folded my hands behind my back and shifted my weight from side to side. I felt unwelcome and out of place without Kid Flash standing next to me.
I felt a tap on my shoulder and I turned to find Star Fire floating behind me. She landed softly and gave me a sheepish glance with her puppy dog eyes, "I bring you a-pologies…I am sorry to have harmed you in any way. You see, I thought you were going to hurt the Kid Flash but I did not know that you had joined the good team. I hope you will forgive me, friend Jinx?"
I blinked at the alien. She offered me a wobbly smile as her knees practically knocked together with nerves and she spread her hands in an "oopsy-daisy" gesture. I wasn't exactly sure how to handle an apology and Star Fire's pleading eyes were only making my anxiety worse. What do I say? Thank you? Oh, that's okay, I forgive you for cracking open my skull and nearly putting me in a permanent coma?
I managed a crooked grin, "Um, it's fine…you didn't know any better…I, uh, forgive you?"
I expected her to wrinkle her nose at my weak acceptance but instead the alien girl let out a whoop of joy. I felt the noise all the way down to my toes; I felt like a cat, back arched and fangs bared. Star Fire swept me into a rib-crushing hug and we twirled in midair while she shouted her gratitude.
"Oh, thank you, friend Jinx! I am sure that we will be the best of the friends! Now that Raven has determined your innocence we shall begin the relationship mending! We could go to the mall or to the movies or we could stay here and paint the toe nails and gossip and giggle about the boys or—or—"
I gasped for breath in the alien's grip, "Star—Fire! Hack! I can't—breathe!"
"Yo, Star Fire! Try not to crush my girlfriend!"
Star Fire immediately let go of me and I shrieked as I crumpled to the floor. Kid appeared to help me up and I stuck my tongue out at him. We both knew full well that he could have caught me; he just decided not to. Star Fire hovered above us blushing orange and smiling sheepishly as she giggled. This girl wasn't going to be hard to win over at all.
Kid Flash smirked at me then looked up at the alien, "Thanks! I'd hate to have a two-piece girlfriend; too much of a hassle to lug around."
It was a lame joke but I smacked him in the arm anyway.
"And this will be your room when you stay in the Tower for long missions or if you need a place to crash." Robin mashed a button on the gray wall and the door next to it slid open in response.
He gestured for me to step inside first and I slipped by him cautiously. I slowly walked to the center of the room, scanning the sparse décor and the large window on the far wall facing the city. It was simple and the color scheme seemed to be white, gray, and Titans blue. There was a full-length mirror hanging on the door of the closet and a small bathroom with another large ovular mirror in front of the sink. I sat down on the bed, squishing the white comforter. I raised an eyebrow at Robin as if to ask, "Are you serious about these colors?"
He crossed his arms, "You got here on short notice and we wouldn't know how to decorate the place anyway. So now it's yours to do whatever you want with. Have at it."
His short tone and snippy response tugged my heart downward; he still didn't seem to like me very much. But I wasn't weepy over it nor was his attitude unexpected. I understood why Robin wouldn't want anything to with me.
Villain.
Hero.
Villain.
Hero.
Got it?
I clenched my fingers on the bedspread and did my best to kill the hex tingling in my fingers. Robin shifted uncomfortably as we sat in silence, probably torn between leaving and saying something else insulting. I swallowed and carefully stood, smoothing the bedspread before I crossed to the window.
"Jinx."
I glanced back at Robin to find that he had followed me to the window. He was unusually close to me; I could feel the waves of nervous energy rolling off his body in waves. I rocked back on my foot, startled at his proximity. He held out a circlet of black and yellow, his Forever Grimace (as Kid Flash liked to call it) still plastered to his face. I tentatively held out my hand as he dropped the thing into my hand, half-expecting it to electrocute me on contact. But, as it was, the circlet did nothing but sit in my palm.
My jaw dropped when I recognized the white capital "T" printed across the smooth surface. I pressed the little button next to the antenna at the top and gasped when the communicator flipped open. Fascinated, I shifted it in my hand and tapped on the buttons inside. I was stunned that Robin had trusted me with something so exclusive so quickly.
"Welcome to the Team." Robin said quietly.
I just stared at my new communicator and nodded, my mouth still hanging open. I was conflicted and elated all at the same time. I didn't know which feeling to focus on so I just stood there, arguing with my emotions. Several minutes must have gone by and when my initial shock started to wear off I suddenly remembered that a thank you was in order.
I tore my eyes away from the communicator to express my gratitude to Robin but he was already gone. I darted to the hallway and poked my head out of the door but was disappointed to find that the Boy Wonder really had disappeared. That kid was scary good.
Batman did a fantastic job with him.
"Hello, love…"
I jumped when I heard Kid's quiet greeting but grinned when I caught sight of him at the end of the hallway, half hidden around the corner. He had changed into civilian clothes and discarded his mask. He wore a bright green t-shirt with jeans and tennis shoes; his red hair was unruly, spiking up in all different directions.
As he stepped into the light my breath hitched and I suddenly realized that we were both officially on the same side. He offered me a small grin, melting my heart on the spot and pushing all of my anxiety away. I swallowed the lump in my throat and I lifted a finger, beckoning him. I smiled slyly and (hopefully) seductively as I backed into my new room.
His faint laughter echoed from the hallway into the bedroom and I darted to the other side of the bed, ready to run from him when he entered. Kid stepped through the doorway and slapped the button to close the door behind him. He slowly approached me, yawning and making a show out of it. I suppressed a smile at his feigned boredom. When he came to the end of the bed I scooted closer to the head then somersaulted to the other side when he sidestepped around the corner.
Kid flashed (A/N: OKAY THAT ONE I'M NOT SORRY ABOUT) to my side of the bed and tackled me in a flurry of green fabric and red hair. I squealed when he landed on top of me, quickly turning the tables on him and flipping us over. I straddled him and pinned his wrists against the white comforter, leaning forward to whisper in his ear.
"No super speed allowed…cheater…" I made sure to breathe down his neck.
"I like cheating. Following the rules gets boring sometimes, you know." Kid nuzzled me but I pulled away, disappointed that I had been unsuccessful in making him shudder.
"You're a hero. It's your job to follow the rules." I stuck my tongue out at him.
He chuckled, "Hey, we're both heroes now so no cheating for you either."
"Did Robin tell you already? I wanted to do that!" I whined down at him and stuck out my bottom lip.
"You're so cute when you pout…" Kid Flash took my momentary lapse in concentration as an opportunity to free his wrists and sit up. He settled his hands on my waist and took my bottom lip between his teeth, sucking it lightly. My hands wandered up his lean biceps and over his neck to play with his hair. I cupped his face with one hand and swept my thumb across his cheek.
I shifted in his lap and unintentionally ground against Kid, soliciting a groan from him. I froze when I felt his hard member beneath me; he stopped sucking on my lip but kept his face as close to mine as he could.
"Did I say cute? I meant sexy." Kid flipped us over and trapped my wrists above my head. I stared at him breathlessly, angry that I was no longer in control but quickly forgetting about it as he pressed a wet kiss against the column of my throat. I bit my lip to keep from moaning.
"Jinx…" Kid spoke between kisses, "I want you to know how proud I am of you…I want you to realize how incredible you are…you're my miracle…right now is all about you…"
Kid's voice was husky but I could barely focus on his words when his tongue was leaving lovely kisses all over my skin. His hands freed my wrists as he made his way down my left collarbone, making sure to leave a red mark before moving on. His body was settled between my legs and I shivered with excitement, loving the way his fingers were dancing nervously at the edges of my white t-shirt. His skin was scalding against mine and his touch left my gasping. I grabbed his jaw and pulled his mouth back to mine, kissing him passionately.
The shirt began to bunch up around my ribs as we rocked against each other. I was wearing a light sports bra underneath and nothing more but I wasn't exactly paying attention to that area at that moment. However, Kid's thumb suddenly brushed against the bottom of my left breast and I froze, causing Kid Flash to stop his ministrations, too. My heart beat like a hummingbird's (A/N: Cheesy, I know, I'm sorry).
"Is this okay?" Kid peered down at me, sincerely asking permission. I gulped and nodded nervously. He grinned reassuringly before kissing me again. I concentrated on the feel of his lips on mine but was now vaguely aware of his thumb resting just below my breast.
It was a few long moments before Kid dared to sweep upward again. His hand moved until the entire side of his pointer figure was resting against my breast. I shuddered when his fingers began to creep up and over the tiny swell of my chest. There wasn't much there but by the way Kid was panting I was assuming that he didn't care.
He gave my breast a squeeze and I gasped into his mouth. Laughing softly, Kid moved my shirt further up my body until it bunched under my arms and my neck. I gave him one last nip on the upper lip before pushing on his chest. He broke away from my mouth and sat up a little, perplexed. I smirked up at him before grabbing the hem of my t-shirt and pulling it over my head.
Kid smiled at me and moved forward to kiss me again but I put a hand on his chest to stop him. I took in a shaky breath while he frowned at me and then slowly reached to remove my sports bra. Kid Flash caught my hands before I could do so and sat me up in front of him, my legs draping lazily across his thighs as he kneeled on the bed.
"Jinx, just because…you don't have to…if this is too fast…" He seemed to be having trouble with his words.
I kissed him chastely but fiercely, "I want to."
He looked star struck and I giggled at his expression. My laugh seemed to wake him up a bit and a smile tugged at the corners of his mouth, begging to be let out. I closed my eyes and crossed my arms, tucking my fingers beneath the soft fabric of the sports bra. As I gradually pulled it up and over my head, I tried not to think about the gravity of my actions. I tried to pretend that Kid wasn't there, sitting right in front of me, watching. I tried not to wonder whether or not he would like what he saw.
But "trying" isn't the same as "succeeding."
As soon the bra was off I immediately crossed my arms in front of my chest and tucked my head. My cheeks flamed and I felt the heat of embarrassment all the way down to my toes. I rested my forehead against Kid Flash's chest and hid myself from him, praying that I was dreaming and that I hadn't actually just shown my boobs to him.
Shit shit shit shit.
The seconds passed quietly. We both breathed in and breathed out. I wondered what his next move would be. Just as I had given up on him, I felt the tips of his fingers caress my lower back, causing me to involuntarily shiver. They started at the base of my spine and traveled all the way up to the back of my neck. Repeating the motion, Kid kissed the top of my head gently. When his hand reached my neck for the fourth time I leaned my head back, lips parted in relaxation. I was falling asleep.
Kid took the opportunity to press his lips to mine, "Jinx…do you still want this?"
I opened my eyes and replied softly, "Yes."
HAHA wait until next chapter! I've got some great fluff planned out ;) See you next chap, lovelies! REVIEW PLEASE.
