On The Third Day

On the first day there was pain; the kind that made Sam's breath choke in his throat and his back arch off the bed. Dean sat at his side, wiped the blood from Sam's lips where he'd bitten through in his agony, and he hurt.

On the second day there was stillness; the kind that rekindled the horror of Cold Oak, but for the thready pulse that beat against Dean's finger tips. Dean sat at Sam's side, soothed the torment of fever with cool cloth against skin and ice chips between lips, and he pined.

On the third day...
