For that moment, there seemed to be hope. It spread across everyone's face, even Mikey's. Casey had a gleam in his eye that only a hero would have after saving the innocent from a fatal disaster. Confidence in the turtles wounded brother's life seemed to increase, for they had gotten another chance.

"So, ya comin' or not guys?" Everyone was broken out of their trance and proceeded to exit the van. Casey didn't want to waste a single second.

"Kay, Raph, I'll grab this end of the table and you grab the other. Mikey, clear the way so we can get by." Leo confidence was restrained from his mind and his chest ached when he was reminded that Don still had a long way to go before he was restored to what he used to be. Even then...would he still be the same old genius little brother that he used to be? He was sick of thinking about the grimness of what might become and put himself out of his thoughts.

"Leo, you ok?" Dammit, he must have been standing there like an idiot for a while. The only brother that needed worrying about was Don.

"Ya, I'm fine. Just help me get Don out of here, it's getting cold outside"

"Yup."

The turtles and April stepped outside alongside Casey who was quickly running out of patience. No wonder Casey was starting to get in such a bad mood, it was freezing! The sharp air bit at their bare feet and faces and they could clearly see their breath. The air smelled of freshly fallen leaves as well as straw and pine needles.

"Jeez Case, I'm freezin' my s-s-shell off!"

"Well what am I s-supossed ta do?! It's da m-middle of September! As you can see, I didn't have da time ta grab my winter j-jacket either!"

"Stop guys, we need to find some shelter!" Everyone turned to April.

"Casey, didn't you say you found some help?"

"Um, y-yea. This old dude who owns a barn about a quarter mile out. He-he said we could crash in his barn for as long as we wanted."

"Good. Raph, Leo, you think you can get Don here to the barn?" April had become the instructor now and she wasn't about to stop until everyone was where they need to be and did what was need to be done. She had almost felt like Leo for a moment.

Raph opened his mouth but Leo answered for him."It'll be a bit difficult, be I think we can manage."

April nodded her head and watched the three brothers and Casey make their way to the barn. She then glanced at Mikey.

"Mikey, I want you to-" She peered at his face. It was back to the grim lifeless one that he had had minutes ago and showed no signs of happiness whatsoever even though they finally found hope. He just stared at the cold hard ground while his brow fussed together. It looked as though he was unaware of what had just happened.

"Mikey? Are you ok?"

"No. No I'm not April...but me worrying if my brother is gunna live or not won't kill me. The only one that will probably have a chance of dying is Donnie." Mikey's chest grew tighter as he paused to look around at the scenery. A tree here, a tree there. Nothing like New York. "But...at the same time, I feel as though this is killing me. I-I can't stand watching my brother turn into nothing. April, do you know how far Bishob's base is from NewYork...even where we are now?"

"N-No, not real-"

"Just about 2 days,April. Thirty nine whole hours in hell."

"How'd you-"

Mikey gave a fake laugh,"I googled it before we left."

Mikey looked up from the ground and looked deep into April's eyes."And how long do you think someone could survive with a punctured lung?...not long."

April's face went blank. She wasn't a doctor and she definitely didn't have a degree in humanoid turtle anatomy...but she knew that in this case Don will bleed to death before anyone knew it. She couldn't risk that, she couldn't. She knew they had to get to Nevada, yesterday.

She looked at Mikey's pleading eyes and immediately pulled out her cellphone.

"Casey, we have to get going, now. I don't care what it takes whether I make you run your ass all the way to the nearest gas station which happens to be miles away, or we steal a car, we're leaving."
