I own nothing! TLOU belongs to its rightful creators.
I'll shut up now...
(Please excuse the bad proofreading Dx I tried my very best)
No way. There was no fucking way. She had to be hallucinating. It must be the fact the she was stuck in the cage…yeah that's it. She so scared she's not thinking straight. Maybe the blows to the head were starting to mess with her vision. He was dead. She grabbed that knife and sliced his face in half. He was dead. He had to be dead. There was no fucking way he could live through that. Ellie could feel her hands shaking violently as she tried to pull them off of the now ice cold metal bars.
"Aw, come on Ellie; no need to be scared. You look like you've seen a ghost." David laughed.
Ellie said nothing as she tried to calm her breathing back to a somewhat normal state, but still came out shaky and weak. She slow sat back down on the concrete floor; her knees were shaking so bad she was surprised that they didn't give in and fall on the floor. Her hands slid down the bars, her eyes never leaving the dark silhouette. She waited for him to a make a move, pull out a gun, throw a butcher knife, something. But he just sat there in his chair, with only the bright overhead light, showing his visible outline. Maybe this wasn't David after all; maybe it was just her mind playing tricks on her. If this really was David, he would've done something by now, or have killed her as soon as he got a hold of her but still…
"I know what you must be thinkin'." David suddenly called out, making Ellie almost jump out of her skin. "How did I survive after you took that knife to my face? You're a good shot with a rifle but terrible with close combat. Good thing you crazy man got to ya in time."
No response came from Ellie as her eyes widened in shock and looked down at her cold, dirt covered hands. She killed him. She knew she killed him. She could remember the weight of the machete in her hand. She could remember getting on top of that bastard before slicing his head open and turning his brain into mush. She could remember the sound of the blood splattering, the bones breaking, her heart beating inside her head right before Joel pulled her off. It was all still so clear and vivid; there was no way that it was all in her head. It couldn't be possible.
"The brain is an interesting thing huh? If you believe in somethin' hard enough, it will create the memories for you. It's kind of like when something really bad happens to ya and you try and think about a different way, so the brain will come up with a different story to help you sleep at night." David chuckled as if they were having a casual conversation.
Ellie snapped her head up and gave him a cold stare. It was all she could do from behind bars. She then heard the screeching of the chair scrape against the ground, sending chills up and down Ellie's spine.
"Would you like to see your masterpiece? Would like to see how you ruined my beautiful face and am now seen as a monster, some even think I was on the verge of becoming one of those Infected." David coyly slid his dusty ice covered boot underneath the pool of full light.
"Fuck off." Ellie managed to spit out.
"Now don't you think that's a bit rude? I mean I would; it wouldn't be that hard when lookin' at pretty thing like you, and if I may say, you've seem to have…grown more since I last saw you. But I feel like logistics and formalities are in order don't you?" he chuckled darkly.
Ellie felt herself feel sick as bile started to creep up her throat but managed to keep it at bay while the feeling was replaced with boiling anger. If she had her pistol right now… David took another step into the light, his full figure now underneath light bulb. Ellie could make out the color of his jacket and his hair, which has gotten some grey spots now. She also noticed some of it seemed to missing, but not like a receding hairline, but on the sides, similar to where Ellie had sliced. But she couldn't much more from that distance. She squinted her eyes to see if maybe that would help take some of the bright light away but she could still only see his outline.
"Oh I'm sorry; can you not see me that well? Well here, let me help shed some more light on the situation."
The lights suddenly flipped off, leaving the room in complete darkness. Ellie once again felt her fear climb up in her throat as she tried to make her eyes adjust to the increasing darkness quickly. Where the fuck did he go? She heard shuffling on her left and she snapped her head in that direction, scanning the area as best she could, but all she saw was darkness. She heard more shuffling from the other side and repeated the same action. Then there was a sudden silence, as if all sound was muted in the world and Ellie held her breath as she tried to listen closely. There was a sudden loud rattling and banging on the metal bars of her cage and the lights flashed back on scaring Ellie so bad that she felt like so going into cardiac arrest.
"You see what you did to me? Not a pretty sight is it?!" he shouted while slamming his hand against the bars, making Ellie thankful she was in the cage rather than outside.
Her eyes quickly scanned across his face; it was horrible. Deep scares were cut along his face with one distinct cut between his eyes. There were some that ran along his cheeks, looking almost like it was an animal attack that a little girl attempting murder. Some of wounds looked infected and badly bruised, others looking black and heavily inflamed. She kept waiting to feel the burn of bile or smell that stench of her own vomit of her clothes but no such thing came out except for her heavy shaky breaths. David finally stopped banging on the cage and quieted his voice, immediately changing from a madman to a sympathetic one. The shaking of the bars still echoed throughout the room, but Ellie tried to keep her focus on David's movements. She can't be distracted; she couldn't be.
"Now I'm sorry little rabbit, I didn't mean to startle ya. Look at cha, shakin' to the bone…" he coaxed as he reached out through the bars, as if he was trying to pet a damaged animal.
In normal cases, Ellie would've tried to break his fingers like the last time or try to fight back somehow, but she scooted so quickly into the wall that she hit the back of her head against it. David sighed heavily as he backed away from the cage. Ellie felt the smallest of relief; at least he was further away now.
"Alright then… I guess I scared the rabbit a little too much" he chuckled while raising his hands up in surrender, as if this whole thing was one big fucking joke.
Ellie needed to find a way of here. She needed to find Joel. She needed to get back to him and get back home. Home… she didn't think she could miss something as much as she did now. But she needed to stay focused; David wasn't gone and didn't look like he had any intention of leaving. There was nothing but an eerie silence as David stared at her. What the fuck was he looking at?! Ellie could feel her fists clench up as she tried to glare hard back at him, but all that was doing was making her feel dizzy.
"Well, well, well, look who's tryin' to act all tough now that she doesn't have her crazy man to back her up," David chuckled before his tone changing back to the normal dark and sadistic one, "You're in my territory now and don't think you're gonna make it out alive this time 'cuz once I'm done with you—
There was a sudden loud screech from the metal door, letting in a gust of winter wind and snow. David turned over his shoulder with an annoyed look on his face at the two men that had interrupted his threat.
"What?"
"They're all ready to go and these seem to have some muscle on 'em." One of the men explained with a hint of excitement; Ellie felt like she was going to be sick.
"And the women?"
"They'll be good enough but… sir about the little girl…" the other man said with what sounded like genuine concern; could these men even feel anymore?
"What about her?" David answered, his patience running thin.
"Sir she's only six. I don't know how the others would really feel about that… no matter what we do with her someone will say something." The man scratched the back on his beanie.
David sighed as he turned back to Ellie with a smirk.
"I'm sorry about this Ellie, but if you'll excuse me, I won't be long." He then took off with the two men, cursing them all the way out the door.
Once the door screeched closed, sealing off the freezing wind, Ellie finally let out an audible gasp of air as she tried to keep the tears from falling as she rubbed her face roughly with her sleeve. She then stood up quickly, making her head feel dizzy and stumble to the side; the hits her head had taken over the past twenty-four hours were finally started to take effect. Once the room stopped looking like two, her eyes searched around frantically, trying to not only figure out where the hell she was but if there was something, anything that could help her break out. The place seemed eerily similar to the area she was trapped in the last time. It was bigger and there wasn't a window about her cage to let in any natural light. There was only one exit from what she could tell and there didn't seem to be anything within grabbing distance; no weapons or loose pipes on the walls, she was completely defenseless. She tried to strain her eyes to see if there was a door she might've missed but the lights were too bright and Ellie felt like she was going to vomit. As soon she felt her mouth feel numb and the feeling of something rise in her throat she darted over to a corner, fell on her knees and heaved until there was nothing left but hacking noises. Her mouth felt slimy while her throat burned.
"Damn it…" she croaked to herself; never in her life would she let herself lose control this way but that was when she knew Joel was by her side.
The door once again opened up with this time only David and the little girl named Alice walking inside. Alice was struggling to get out of David's grasp with all the strength her tiny body had. Her face was red and her eyes were still producing heavy tears, but she was deathly quiet as if David had ripped her voice right out of her. Ellie felt more rage at the thought of what he could've said or done to that poor girl or worse… what could he have shown her?
"Well, well, well lookie here little rabbit, I found you a friend to play with." He chuckled as he pulled Alice along with him.
As he got closer to the cage, Ellie backed away further from the bars, fear being too powerful for her to make any heroics.
"Good girl; you're starting to understand your place in this mess you've put yourself in." David noted as he threw the small girl inside the cage.
Once Alice felt David's hard grip loosen from her shirt she scrambled onto the floor and immediately went into Ellie's arms, burying her red face into her chest, shaking violently.
"Well girl's it's been fun but I have dinner to make and some new guests to entertain so if you'll excuse me." David bowed his head as he turned to leave for the night. "Oh and Ellie?" he stopped in mid-step, "By the time I'm done with you, you're gonna wish you never crossed me."
Ellie felt a large lump form in her throat as well as Alice's tiny hands grip tighter onto Ellie's jacket.
"I want to go home… I want my mommy!" she sobbed loudly, her voice muffled from the fabric of the jacket.
Ellie hugged her tight as David switched off the lights and shut the door behind him, leaving with the one light above the cage. She needed to be strong now. Not just for Alice but for herself as well. She can't show her fear to him anymore. She needed to get her and Alice out of here and get back to Joel and she was hoping with all her heart that he was trying to back to her too…
AHH!
Ok so now onto other logistics,
I'm so so so so sorry about the SUPER long hiatus. I had life kick my ass these past few months and I've been working on some other projects both fanfiction as well as my own original stories.
Ok now the bad news. This story, unlike my other two is still on hiatus. The only reason that this one got a update was because I have several chapters handwritten out in my journal. Unfortunately this and the beginning of the next chapter was all I had and I honestly can't remember what I was going to do with this story or where it was going to go from here. But I'm not abandoning it no no. I just need to refigure things out again.
Also, for those who are confused for some reason, yes this is about IF David survived. I know I know I KNOW he died in the game but think of this as an AU I guess..? I just liked the idea of him coming back after her. I'm just tired of answering the same question over and over so I'm going to put it here ok? Yes?
Reviews and Favorties are always loved
Until next time
