A/N: So so so sorry for the long wait for this chapter!
Bella:
Walk a little walk, smile, talk big talks
Gonna tell them all just what I want
That street, two streets, I see you and me
Hanging on the empty swings
"Mum, this is Edward. Edward, this is my mum, Renee," I introduce the two of them apprehensively.
Edward, ever the gentleman, holds his hand out to my mother. She takes it, smiling as she shakes his hand.
"How have you been?" I ask Mum.
"I'm ok. How have you been? How's Hazel?" Mum asks, smiling widely at me.
"She's good. She likes to scream loudly in the night, but she's nowhere near as bad as Dexter," I grin, shaking my head. Hazel was screaming pretty loudly last night. Thankfully, Edward managed to get her to sleep, since he now spends most nights in my room with me. "Edward managed to talk her to sleep, though," I add, grinning over at Edward.
"Talk her to sleep?" Mum questions, frowning though looking amused.
"Yeah, Hazel and I like to have conversations. However, she usually falls asleep mid-way through," Edward explains.
Mum laughs softly. She very rarely laughs. But I guess that's understandable, as she is in prison. I don't even really remember her laughing much when I was younger. "You seem rather taken with my daughter and my granddaughter," Mum comments, eyeing Edward pensively.
"I love them, both of them," Edward replies firmly.
"I can see that," Mum nods. "Just make sure they're happy," Mum adds, her eyes brimming with tears.
"Of course, that's all I want for them," Edward swears, taking my hand. I melt a little into him.
"So, are you enjoying your summer?" Mum asks then, changing the topic and wiping her eyes.
We spend the rest of the visit time talking about lighter topics, and, as usual, by the end of our time Mum looks about ten times happier than she did to begin with. I give her a short hug, tell her goodbye, and pretend I don't notice the tears in her eyes as Edward and I leave.
Mum has served, so far, four months of her two year sentence. Though, after speaking to her and her lawyer, she may be able to get out early due to good behaviour after only serving a year of the sentence. I'm not sure how I feel about her being released early, though I still have at least eight months before I really have to worry about it.
"What did you think?" I ask Edward once we're back in his car.
"She seems…well, she's different from how I expected her to be," Edward admits, rubbing the back of his neck.
"She's changed," I tell Edward.
"I can see that," Edward nods. I frown at him. "I know I didn't know her before, but you told me a lot about her. And I could guess from how you acted whenever she was mentioned. Now, though, she seems like she's really sorry. I just…I didn't expect that. Not so soon, anyway," Edward explains. "So, how do you feel about heading to the diner for lunch before we head back home?" Edward suggests.
"I'd love that," I grin over at him. "I think right now I'd kill for a burger," I add.
"I better drive faster then, huh?" Edward jokes.
As soon as we reach the diner, Edward takes my hand and pulls me to a fairly secluded booth at the back of the diner. I raise an eyebrow at him, but he just shrugs.
"I realised I haven't taken you on a date in far too long," Edward admits, pulling me closer to him to be able to kiss me on the lips.
I kiss back my romantic boyfriend eagerly, only pulling away when there's a throat clearing. We quickly break apart, me blushing brightly and Edward apologising profusely.
"Two burgers and fries and two cokes, please," Edward orders, ducking his head to hide his own blush.
"What a pair we are," I grin to Edward, resting my head on his shoulder.
"I love you," he murmurs, glancing down at me.
"Love you, too," I reply easily, leaning up to kiss him again.
The rest of our meal is spent kissing each other as much as possible and constantly glancing over at each other. Just as we're leaving the diner, we pass Angela and Jacob, who are giggling and holding hands as they walk inside.
"Oh, um, hey," Angela mumbles, looking down and blushing. She tries to move away from Jacob, but he stops that by placing his arm across her shoulders. They're so cute together.
"We'll have to double date some time," I grin at them, leaning into Edward when he wraps his arm around my waist.
"Definitely," Jacob grins, kissing Angela's cheek. "See you guys back at the house," he says, and we all say goodbye before Edward and I leave them to their date.
"You don't seem surprised about Angela and Jacob being together," Edward comments once we're back in the car.
"Oh, come on! It was so obvious!" I tell Edward, laughing when he frowns. "Angela hates football, yet she always watched Jacob! I can't believe you didn't see it!" I snicker.
Edward purses his lips, briefly glancing over at me. "You said it was obvious that she liked him…Uh, does that…I mean, does that mean you, uh, you knew? About how I felt about you?" Edward mumbles, focussing intently on the road.
I gently place my hand on his arm. "No, I didn't know. Rose, she tried to tell me, but…I didn't listen," I tell him. "If I had known, I would've kissed you a hell of a lot sooner!" I joke.
"Why didn't you listen to Rose?" Edward asks, looking confused.
"I didn't think you'd want to be with someone who was pregnant so young," I admit, shrugging.
"Bella, I wanted to be with you from the moment I saw you. Hence the added clumsiness," he jokes, chuckling.
"Yeah, I could've done without the stitches," I tease him, grinning widely.
"It wasn't intentional, you know," Edward groans, pulling into the driveway.
When we get inside, the first thing I do is make my way into the living room, where I know Rose and Emmett will be waiting for us with Hazel.
"Hey, baby," I coo, kissing my daughter's cheek.
"Hey, cutie," Edward says, blowing a raspberry on her other cheek.
Like usual, my eyes well up when I see Edward interact with Hazel. He treats her like his own and it just makes my heart swell. I couldn't possibly love him more.
"How was she?" I ask Rose, sitting down on the sofa with Hazel in my arms and Edward sat closely next to me.
"Good. Emmett fed her while I fed Dexter, and then they both had a nap," Rose tells me.
"Who, Hazel and Emmett or Hazel and Dexter?" I ask, grinning over at Emmett.
"It's a good thing I like you, Bella," Emmett warns me, grinning widely. Rose just rolls her eyes at us.
"So, how was it?" Rose asks us.
"It was ok. She seemed to like Edward and she seemed much happier than last week," I tell her, nodding. Rose smiles in relief.
**********SML************
That night, Edward and I both notice the glances Angela and Jacob send each other at dinner, trying to be sly. No one else notices, I don't think, but Edward and I definitely do.
Afterwards, we all decide to watch a film together. Edward says he'll put Hazel to bed and then he'll bring down the baby monitor. Rose and Emmett do the same for Dexter.
As everyone's getting everything ready, Seth asks if he can speak to me outside. I agree, and I watch as he paces around on the back porch while I sit and wait until he's ready.
"Um, I was wondering if I could, uh, ask for your advice on something," Seth asks, looking uncharacteristically nervous.
"Sure, anything," I smile at him, hoping he'll calm down a bit. "Advice on what, can I ask?"
"A relationship," Seth answers, almost blushing.
"Is there someone you like?" I ask, grinning a bit.
"No…uh, well, yeah, but, that's not…I mean, I'm in a relationship. With someone," Seth rambles, looking down. "I'm with Embry," he blurts out suddenly.
"Can I ask a question?" I ask him.
"Sure," he mumbles quietly.
"Why'd you need my advice?" I ask, making his head snap up. "You're happy with him, right?"
Seth nods quickly at this. "I, uh, I don't know how to tell people. My brother…I don't know how they'll react," Seth admits.
I quickly walk over to him and wrap my arms around him, hugging him tightly. As he hugs me back I feel some of his tears, so I lean back to brush them away.
"Have you told anyone else?" I ask Seth.
"I told Esme about a week ago," Seth tells me.
"And how did she react?" I ask him.
"She hugged me and told me to invite him over for dinner one night," Seth says.
"See? I'd bet that's how most will react. They'll just want to meet him properly. And Jacob will probably just be protective of his little brother," I tell him honestly. "I want to meet Embry properly, too. Maybe you could invite him over soon?" I ask gently.
"Yeah, I'd like that," Seth nods, smiling a little now.
"Come on, let's go watch this film," I tell him, dragging him back inside. "Do his parent's know?" I quickly ask before we get to the living room.
"Uh, yeah. I met them a week ago. The same day I told Esme," Seth admits, ducking his head.
"I'm definitely going to have to meet him soon," I grin, nudging his side.
Seth just rolls his eyes, opening the door to the living room.
"Oh, God, my eyes!" Seth groans loudly. I peer around him, smirking when I see Angela sat in Jacob's lap, kissing him.
"Oh, uh, hey," Jacob mumbles while Angela hides her face in his neck.
I'm still laughing as I sit down next to Edward and Bree, Seth choosing to sit as far away from his brother as possible.
"What film did they choose in the end?" I ask.
"Some James Bond film," Bree mutters. I groan at that. "Hey, at least it wasn't Alice's suggestion of some chick flick," Bree adds, smiling a little.
"Thank God," I agree, leaning against Edward.
I glance over at Seth, hoping he tells Jacob soon. I just know he'll be supportive, as will everyone else in the house.
A/N: Thoughts on Seth's revelation?
After this chapter, there's only going to be a couple more before the epilogue (which is going to be extra long!) So, yeah, it's going to be pretty sad to have to end this story, but hopefully I'll be able to focus more on my other stories and be able to complete them :)
Review = Jacob & Angela outtake!
