Knights of Walpurgis

The idea of creating the Knights of Walpurgis had been Harry's idea despite them being Tom's followers.

Tom had reluctantly admitted that it was a good idea and had only admitted it after a lot of teasing on Harry's part. It was an idea Tom should have thought of before hand not that he would admit the latter to Harry. He teased him enough as it was.

He did not really mind Harry's teasing as much as he probably should be but if it made Harry happy it was fine as long as it was within the Common Room or when no one else was around. Besides, it really was practical to have them called by a specific united name so that no one else would realize what they were talking about whenever they mentioned it. It could mean close to anything out of context.

Tom had no clue how Harry had even thought of such a name or even come across the need for them to have a name.

Harry was intelligent like that but he never really applied himself in his schoolwork or he would do much better than he currently was. Tom often wondered why that was and had even on the odd occasion asked him.

Harry had only ever smiled and shook his head without answering. He never answered Tom whenever he asked that question and Tom soon stopped asking at all. That was the only thing Harry never spoke about and that had caused Tom's curiosity on the subject to grow as much as he tried to suppress it.

Tom honestly preferred to think of the Knights of Walpurgis as being filled with their supporters and his followers because he knew almost certainly that some of the people on the group would follow Harry if they were to have a fight and split up.

He had followers who only supported him because of his power. They would betray him at any given moment. Harry had supporters who followed him because of what he had done for them. Harry's supporters were more likely to stick with Harry until the very end, whether that was bitter or sweet.

So despite Harry's arguing that the Knight's were Tom's supporters they were really theirs but Tom did not argue with Harry on that matter anymore. Those were trivial matters that could remain vague and not cause any harm. Tom was satisfied with that so he indulged Harry when he insisted. There was no use arguing anyway.

It was more practical to let Harry think what he wanted to think. It kept the other boy happy and chirpy.

He certainly did not want a pouty and annoyed Harry or even, Merlin forbid, an angry Harry. Harry in the latter mood tended to be rather scary, even to Tom who could be scary in his own right.

Tom would not admit it but he felt the need to cower when Harry was angry.

Best to keep Harry from being angry, it kept everyone else happy which was much more practical.
