Chapter 17- Suicide Town
"Where did you bring us Jane?" Jeff questions as he looks around the area, seeing that it is dark in the town they are in and it appears that everyone is asleep except for the two killers. Turning his attention to the town sign which read "Anchorage", he realized that they have teleported to Alaska. "Are you sure that you got the right place for where the suicide Creepypasta's will be hiding?"
Jane quickly took out her phone and googled where the highest rate of suicides are at and one site approved that Alaska is considered a hot spot for it. She then looks up the term of suicide and grimaces on discovering the details. "Judging by the highest amount of suicides in the state of Alaska, I think we will find the suicide Creepypasta's hanging around the area. But why is it that these deaths are so depressing? I thought that murders were bad enough, but to kill yourself just because some illness tells you to without you realizing it, that is just wrong."
Jeff shakes his head. "I don't like it either, but maybe once when we find where those Creepypasta's are we can slow down those suicides for a bit. I say that with the number of suicides that are growing in Alaska, it is secretly orchestrated by the two suicide characters just by their influence."
They start walking inside of the town, all the while making sure that no one has spotted them with their creepy looks when all of a sudden Jane stops as she spies someone on top of one of the houses. It was a young teenage girl and she was looking down on the ground sadly as she prepares to walk over to the edge. Jane screams toward the girl. "No! Don't jump!" Either she didn't scream out loud enough or the girl didn't hear her, but the next thing Jane knew was that the girl jumped off of her house and slammed into the ground, her head bled from the impact as her empty eyes gazed at Jane.
Jane couldn't bear to look as she tries her best not to cry, but the tears flowed down anyway. "Why couldn't she hear me? Doesn't she know that there is so much more to life for her?"
Jeff looked sadly at Jane and embraces her in his arms, rubbing her hair to try and comfort her. "Sometimes some people don't even think that they want help and that they think death is the only way to relieve their pain. Even I don't understand it, but I remember hearing in one school of mine before I moved to where I am now that there were three kids in my grade who have suffered from depression. All of them tried to commit suicide; one with some pills, one by cutting their wrists and the other by standing in front of a incoming train. Even though the ones who cut their wrists and tried to get run over got the help they needed when someone rescued them, the other one managed to succeed and break our hearts over their absence. But you are right Jane, there is more to life than just death. Its just that some of them don't even want to see it and they think death is their way out. I even get so mad at people that they choose to try to make someone kill themselves, all just because of something broken inside of them, or out of jealousy, or they just have no remorse for their actions, but it sickens me."
"I'm sorry Jeff. To think that your school had to deal with something like that." Jane sniffs a bit and wipes her tears.
"Its all in the past now. We should look into what the list has and find out the Creepypasta's weaknesses." Jeff took out the list and read from it. "Hmm... It says here alongside the names of the Creepypasta's that Suicides Mouse and Squidward are very attracted to music. So for now, I think we should find a good place where a piano can be found. But there's a catch. Once any one of the Creepypasta's kills off something that has Suicide in its name, these guys are allowed to come back to life in two months from their death date and then we will have to kill them again."
"Why a piano?" Jane asks, raising an eyebrow in confusion. "And wait.. These monsters can come back? That's just cruel."
"Suicide Mouse seems to have a strange fascination with the piano, especially when he hears some dark and gloomy music." Jeff answers. "Suicide Squidward does the same thing, but he likes the sounds of a clarinet." He placed his hand on Jane's shoulder as if to try and comfort her on what he thought. "But yeah, I agree that it seems cruel that people will likely suffer with this for a long period of time. It just one of those things that doesn't end no matter what we do to stop it."
"Who do you think we should go after first? Personally I would like to go after the mouse and get rid of him." Jane said as she wonders what that mouse will look like. Would he be about the same as the Mickey Mouse costume in that abandoned island or something different? But the main thing she should think about is how on earth do you kill something that has suicide in its name? Do you make them kill themselves?
To find a piano, Jeff suggested that they should head for the church in the town. It usually has a big piano or an organ so it will be the first place to go to.
"There she is!" They heard Randy's voice in the background. Jeff and Jane tensed up and began to run inside of the church and climb up the stairs to the balcony that overlooks the whole place. Jane thought up a trick to disguise themselves as statues on the balcony, so she told Jeff to hang onto the edge like he is beginning to climb up while she sat on top of the rail looking down on him. Keeping her hand on top of his, Jane then transformed the both of them into statues just as Randy and Keith got inside of the church building to look for them. She prayed that she and Jeff would be able to fool the boys. As long as she doesn't move a muscle, not even to breathe, she will be safe from harm.
She could feel Jeff gently squeezing her hand as if to tell her silently that she will do fine. She kept her focus on Jeff, trying to ignore the horrible feelings of getting caught by the boys. She didn't want to lose him, or herself to whatever fate has planned for them if the boys figured out where they are hiding. Just by one look in their direction, Randy scowled in anger as he stomped his foot on the ground. Keith joined in by pushing down the pews in front of him as he looked around the building trying to find Jane and Jeff.
"Those two are gonna pay for eluding our grasp!" Randy seethed, gritting his teeth. "It won't be long until the magic we used to keep us young for now will cease to exist. We need to find that girl and kill the Woods boy for stealing her away from us!"
"If only we would know where exactly they can be hiding we could set up a trap for each of them. But how will we be able to stay one step ahead of them since they both have the girls magic on their side?" Keith questions.
"Setting up a trap is brilliant, Keith." Randy grins at his friend. "You always know how to set things up in order to cause someone else to fall. If only Tony was here with us to see this plan into action, but he was a fool to think that he could have convinced her to come with us. He was always one to talk first and use aggressive action later in any situation."
"Yeah, but look on the bright side boss. With Tony gone we don't have to worry about sharing that girls magic with him. This means we each get fifty percent of the magic to keep us looking young enough to cause trouble. Once we kill the girl to get that magic it will be a piece of cake." Keith said as he clenches his fists. Jane almost had the urge to gasp in surprise when she heard what he said.
"So that explains why Tony was trying to take me on by himself before I met Jeff. And if I had indeed complied in that moment, I would have been dead either way by those guys." Jane thought to herself and grimaces at the idea of being killed after her power would be taken. She could detect that Jeff was eager to end those guys once and for all just by the intense look in his bloodshot eyes. But she knows that Jeff is not a fool to blow their cover over trying to protect her. He would rather wait for an appropriate time until the boys didn't think that they were a threat.
However it was evident that was not the plan Randy sought after as he shook his head. "No! What good would it do to waste our time killing her to get that power when we can use her while she is alive and well? I propose in the next location we go to, we need to make sure that we are ready to face them when they reach that specific location. Once they either split up or team up together, we will get rid of Jeff Woods and take the girl where no one will be able to find her."
Keith grunts in annoyance. "Whatever you say boss." They walked out of the room and closed the door behind them.
For at least a couple of minutes, Jane and Jeff stayed right where they were, not moving a single inch from their hiding spot until they were sure that Randy and Keith were gone from the building. Once they figured it was safe to take off the disguise, Jane moved a bit to get a better grip on Jeff. "Can you climb up to me Jeff? You are kind of heavy to hang on to."
Jeff nods his head and pulls himself up on the edge while Jane stood back just in case he needed any help. Upon getting himself up from the edge he tripped a bit and fell on top of Jane, making her slam into the floor as their faces collided against each other. Their lips locking onto each other, well Jane's was locked onto Jeff since that he doesn't have any lips to grab onto. Jane and Jeff couldn't decide whether this was embarrassing on their part or not! Their faces burned in shock as they suddenly realized what was going on. They were kissing each other on the floor when they are supposed to do their jobs! Jeff knew that he had kissed girls before back in high school, but none of those girls could compare to how Jane sparked something inside of him like a light-switch being turned on. He wished that the kiss would be under better circumstances when he and Jane would look like their normal selves and not the way they are now. But it wasn't the case, and he suspected he would rather enjoy it whether he was creepy or not. Jane was trying to stay calm and process the situation at hand as she was trying to push herself up from the floor and get Jeff off of her. It didn't help that he wasn't moving away from them kissing yet. She could taste his exposed teeth right on her lips and she could tell that he is keeping himself from moving his mouth. He probably didn't want to bite her in that accidental kiss.
Yet how could something like a kiss from him be so wrong and so right at the same time?
Jeff finally pulled away from Jane's lips as he rolled onto the floor next to her, out of breath as he covered his mouth in embarrassment. "You alright Jane?" He asked, seeming to be a bit shy from just kissing her.
"Yeah." She whispered as she turned her head to his. A blush was forming on her cheeks. "It was just an accident on our part. No need to get worked up over it." She insisted that they get started in trying to play the piano so that they can lure Suicide Mouse over to them. "What do you think Suicide Mouse is attracted to on the piano? Does he like it to be perfect or does he like it messy?"
Jeff just shrugs his shoulders and said. "Do whatever will get him over here. The sooner we get him killed, the better."
Jane sits down on the piano stool and begins to play softly in the church. The sounds of the piano echo through the building. As soon as she was done with the first song in perfect harmony, Jane stops to look around the place while remaining in her seat. Nothing unnatural was coming to the room. She plays again, this time with a fast paced song, watching as her fingers fly over the piano. Still nothing happened. The third song she tried out was a sad tune, but like the other songs, Suicide Mouse did not show up. She gave up as she stands up from the chair and said to Jeff. "Maybe he is somewhere far away where he can't hear the music."
Jeff shook his head, a little bit disappointed at the result. "Well, it can't be done if one doesn't show. How about we turn our attention to Suicide Squidward? Maybe he would be easier to find." He takes Jane's hand and quietly leads her down the stairs so that they reach the entrance of the church.
But just as they were getting ready to exit the building, they heard the most awful music on the piano they had ever heard. The music sounded like the composer was trying to make it lively but it was turned into something disastrous. Both of the killers covered their ears from the awful sound, but their hands couldn't drown out the horrible noise.
"Jane enough with the piano music!" Jeff screeched.
"Uh Jeff, I'm down here with you. The piano is upstairs." Jane reminded honestly as she and Jeff looked at each other and then turned their attention to the balcony where the sound of the piano was coming from. They decided to check it out and see who was playing it, but when they got to the top of the balcony, Jane was just about ready to scream her lungs out before Jeff slapped his hand over her mouth to quiet her down.
It looked like Mickey Mouse, but it doesn't look to be the same mouse they had found in the abandoned island where Mowgli's Palace was. The mouse's colors were in the right spots this time, but the way that it is playing the piano made it seem like he is pretty depressed.
"Hey Mickey! Get your hands off of the piano!" Jeff called out. Right on cue, the mouse stopped playing the keys and turned his head to look at the pair, a sad look on his face as he studied them from a distance. "Aren't you the same Mickey we found in Mowgli's Palace? Just in a different form?"
"That Mickey hanging around the island is none other than my worthless counterpart. Always thinking that he can make friends just by ripping his head off. All I can think about is stopping the noise from inside of my head. The screams of a lady is what I always hear. I just want it to stop." The black and white Mickey walks slowly away from the piano and jumps down from the balcony in a swoop. Jeff and Jane went over to see if he had a rough landing on the floor, but they found that he was okay and that he is starting to walk away from the church.
"Get back here!" Jeff shouts as he chases after the creature by dropping off of the balcony and landed safely on the floor. "Do you even have any idea of what you are doing to the people in this town? They are committing suicide all because of your influence!"
"You do not understand. Nobody ever does." Suicide Mickey said, ignoring Jeff's question. "I just want to be left alone and I want everything to be quiet. The screams are inside of me and I need to let them out. Now leave me alone in my misery."
"We are here to help you relax a bit, Mickey." Jane said as she stops Mickey from escaping to the exit. "You should go to sleep. You do look tired from the pain you are going through."
Suicide Mickey didn't even glance in her direction as he continued to try and get outside of the building. Once he saw that it wasn't going to work out, he then looked up in Jane's black eyes as he shows an unnatural smile of his own. Not a happy to see you smile like how the Abandoned Mickey had on its mask. This smile felt like it belonged to a poor soul who turned sick in the head. Jane tensed a bit as she kept her hands on the door to keep it shut. She thought for a split moment that Suicide Mickey was trying to influence her mind to turn to suicide, but the power from the flower managed to keep her mind intact with what she needs to do. At least she was happy in her thoughts that the suicide magic can't work on her, and perhaps luckily for Jeff he wouldn't have to worry about that either.
Suicide Mickey's eyes then rolled back in his head and its facial features turned more horrific like its disguise was melting its face. It reached its hands behind its back and the creature upon realizing that its influence can't work on Jane, decided to take out what appears to be a medical needle used for shots. Jane felt frightened for a brief moment as she tried to figure out what she was supposed to do. Should she let go of the door to fight off the needle? Jeff came over and jumped on top of the mouse from behind, wrestling for control of the arm that held the needle. It looked to be like a huge tug of war game going on between the mouse and the killer, however Jeff tried to wrestle the point of the needle away from him and toward the mouse. Jane knew that Jeff couldn't take on a big mouse by himself, so she lets go of the door and pounces on the mouse in the front, trying to mask her disgust at how ugly the mouse was as she grabs onto the needle with Jeff and directs Mickey's hand holding the needle toward the mouses neck.
Jeff and Jane almost thought they were hearing things when they heard a old woman screaming in horrific pain, but they ignored it as they jabbed the needle into the mouses neck in a powerful push with their hands. They all collapsed on the floor, the mouse was starting to not fight off the killers anymore and he fell in their arms. Once Jane knew that the mouse was dead and not moving, she quickly crawled away from the corpse as she can be heard saying, "Ew! Ew! Ew!"
Even Jeff was disgusted by the dead mouse, seeing how its corpse had its eyes still open. "The mouse is dead. At least for now anyway." Until the next couple of years where the suicide mouse will rise back from the dead in order to continue with its horrific deeds, according to the Creepypasta list about the suicide creatures to watch out for.
"Let's just get out of here Jeff." Jane urges, feeling sick to her stomach at the sight of the corpse. Jeff nods as he followed Jane outside while he text messaged to the Creepypasta gang that they just killed Suicide Mouse and the body needs to be taken care of.

(One hour later)
Jeff stayed beside Jane on the bench as he was waiting patiently for her to calm down and see if she will be ready to fight against another Creepypasta monster as soon as she is ready, but she looked like she was having a bad time of calming down her thoughts as she leans her head on his shoulder, her hands crossed over her shoulders.
"Do you ever wish that you were just an ordinary human without these abilities, Jeff?" Jane asks in a whisper. "I feel like such a burden even with all of the power I have in my hands and I am being hunted for it without any rest."
"Sometimes I wish I was, but then again, I wouldn't have met you if I was never hurt from the fire." Jeff spoke. "And believe me when I say this Jane, you aren't a burden to me. You can always count on me protecting you from any danger."
She unclasped her right hand from her left shoulder and put her face in it to mask the shame that she felt. After all of this trouble of being hunted by Randy and Keith and for killing other Creepypasta's here and there, she wondered what it would have been like if her parents had never went after the flower that changed her into what she is now. She wondered if people would have accepted her better if she didn't look like an alien or a monster to them. Jeff would have done okay on his own without having to go hunt after his family's murderers if he hadn't touched her to receive some magic from the flower. "I'm sorry for causing you trouble before and after you met me."
"You don't get to take that credit Jane. I brought myself into this mess long before I met you. I could have died with or without your power, but at least in the end I now have the one thing that Randy doesn't get to have. He doesn't have a sweet girl like you." He brushed his hands into her hair, smoothing out the tangles that got caught in his hands.
Their talk got interrupted when they heard music coming from one of the theater buildings in the town. The terrible sounds of a clarinet playing in the middle of the night sent an eerie tone but it appears that there was no one in the streets to listen to its music. That was until they spotted a shadowy figure watching them from the window of a tall building. The killers couldn't see that persons eyes but they could tell through the darkness that person was watching them from afar. They went inside of the abandoned building, closing the door behind them as they studied their surroundings. Most of the furniture inside of the building was torn to pieces. The couch looked like it was chewed up by something, but Jane later smelled something foul coming from it and discovered that a bullet shell was the culprit behind the stench. Jeff felt a bit agitated over the prospect of the weapon being a gun. He could still remember the blasts from Randy and his gangs guns when they tried to kill him at the party.
It was not just the couch that suffered the gun shots, but the refrigerator, the steps leading to upstairs and the pictures were blasted to pieces as if someone did not want to even look at them again. When Jeff saw what the pictures looked like, he spotted a cartoon figure that he remembered from his childhood; Squidward Tentacles. The squid looked like he was pretty happy in one of his pictures, but a blast from the gun shattered half of his face.
"Something is telling me Suicide Squidward is hiding here," Jeff whispered to Jane as they walk cautiously to the stairs and climb up to the second floor where on their right side there was a closet that was empty, and on the left side in the far corner was where the same window was that showed them the shadowy figure. But in the middle of the dark and empty side of the second floor was Squidward, or what looked to be like him in appearance, was looking away from them as he held his clarinet in his tentacle hand. Where there was supposed to be a turquoise color for his skin, it had faded to grey. His brown shirt he wore had some tears on the bottom. And the eyes? When Jeff and Jane looked at them, they couldn't stop their legs from shaking. The eyes were disturbing to look at. Jeff shivered over looking at how Squidward, the happy and sometimes moody character that hanged around with Spongebob, turned into a sad and depressed version of himself. The eyes were bloodshot with black circles around them, and from what it sounded like in the distance, Squidward was crying black blood from his eyes.
"Squidward?" Jeff said in a calm gesture as he puts his knife away in order to catch the Creepypasta by surprise. "Are you the one making all of those people commit suicide? If so, you got to stop doing that! You are upsetting the balance-"
"Go away!" Squidward said, his voice filled with sorrow for himself, turning to look at Jeff and Jane. "I wish to be alone. Go away! Go away!" He then turned to the killers and raised his clarinet over his head, but as Jeff looked closer at the item in Squidward's hands, he stepped back in fear over what he discovered; a gun. Jeff tensed up, remembering how he tried to escape those guns back when Randy and his gang tried to kill him.
With just a click, Squidward let the gun go and a huge booming sound shot down a part of the ceiling. The force of the blast almost made Jeff and Jane jump from fright, but Jeff was the first to yell out a command. "Run!" He pulls Jane and pushes her to the front where she is in the lead and he is the one in the rear as he tries to make sure that Squidward would not shoot her with his gun. He would rather take the gun wounds over seeing his girl getting hurt by them.
Suicide Squidward gave chase in the hallway, shooting down parts of the ceiling, the wall, and the floor, making Jeff and Jane try to dodge the incoming attacks. Either the squid had a terrible aim or he was being smart by using the collapsible building to his advantage. Jeff and Jane found a closet on the other end of the hall and locked themselves in it to buy some time to figure out a plan.
"What are we going to do against that creature?!" Jane asks, almost about ready to panic.
Jeff shakes his head. "I don't have a clue! I'm not sure if we can make him fall for the trick we did with Suicide Mouse. Squidward seems to be more smarter than the mouse for crying out loud!" A blast from the door broke apart the lowest half of the door, telling them that they don't have enough time. Another blast from the gun took out the highest point of the door but the middle part of the door remained intact for now. Until Squidward managed to blast down the rest of the door to the side and he walked in casually to greet the killers in the closet.
The lights flickered out and the killers were immersed in total darkness. Only the sound of a gunshot fired in the blackness, along with Jane's scream of pain. For a minute the room was in the dark until the lights flickered back on again, showing that Jane suffered from only a bruise on her left cheek and a small stab wound on her right shoulder. Suicide Squidward was not that lucky. He was shown to be lying down in a pool of blood with a part of his head blown to bits. His gun was lying next to him, broken in half as soon as the gun had shot its victim.
Jeff took a few breathes before he went to Jane to examine her for more injuries, but found nothing else. The poor girl was distraught by what had happened. "You okay Jane?" He asked in concern. "How did you manage to kill him?"
Jane shrugs her shoulders. "I managed to make him think he had us cornered and I used the blackout to my advantage, making him look like he killed himself by turning the gun away from us. You didn't look like you wanted to do it, so I had to step it up."
"You didn't have to Jane. I completely understand if you are getting sick of the killing. I was a bit traumatized by the gun back before I became the way I am. So I apologize on not taking action when necessary. Come on, lets get these wounds treated." Jeff said, leading Jane away from the bloodied corpse and away from the house, careful enough to make sure that the house didn't collapse on both of them before they made it outside. Jeff also made some messages to Slendy about the two suicide Creepypasta's being put to sleep before he and Jane left Alaska.
