Birds of a feather.
Chloe's blonde feathers ruffled as she panted, finally coming to a halt in the pitch black darkness as she doubled over in exhaustion. Sweat seeped through her feathers and dripped to the rough concrete floor and she decided to take a little break from all the running she had just done despite being in nothing but darkness.
She sat herself down on her haunches and she craned her fluffy neck towards her wings, twisting it flexibly, and she began to preen her feathers to get some of the filth out from her wings. Her beak toiled hard and long as she repeatedly pecked at the muck sticking to her wings and she flapped her purple cape to move it aside so she could actually see her back.
Whilst she preened, Chloe recalled a memory that had made her squeeze her green-blue eyes shut and tears slipped down her beak and dripped on to the floor much like her sweat of exhaustion. She curled up on the floor, weakly.
A bright flash lit her mind up and the depths of her memories had flooded her entire sense.
She could remember being a very tiny little bundle of feathers with no parents, no biological family, and she had been basically all alone when it came to other birds. The very little chick hatched inside a plastic container whilst her egg nestled against a blanket and a bright yet warm light would constantly shine bright down upon her.
The tiny blonde macaw chirped in confusion, confused as to why she was in a little box and not with her mother.
She looked back to her egg with the intent of expecting to find an answer. She did kind of find it as she looked at a huge portion of her broken eggshell and she discovered very deep scratches on the protective shell and the damage looked talon-made. Did her own mother try to kill her?
Gasping at the realization, the little bird backed away fearfully away from what had been her home for the passed few months and she shivered in a corner when she was out of the light that was harshly shining down against her tiny little form. She felt cold and lonely.
The little blonde feathered chick chirped, looking around as she blinked her large eyes in fright.
She suddenly heard a comforting voice that echoed freshly in her ear holes. The tiny newborn blonde macaw slowly stumbled about, trying to stand on her teeny little talons as she slowly came forth to try and see what she assumed was actually a large creature. Chloe's tiny expression was etched with this melting fear as she flapped her little wings and approached the main barrier of glass.
When she reached the front of the case, she came face-to-face with a creature. A giant, more like it!
She wanted to hide but she couldn't. As the small little bird looked into the eyes of this supposed "beast", Chloe found herself unable to move. She stumbled unsteadily and gently touched the creature's nose with her wings, tightly wrapping her little wings around it.
The man laughed in response and said nothing. He simply smiled in response and rubbed his finger against the plastic in an attempt to stroke the darling tiny creature. She chirped warmly and rubbed her cheek against where the affectionate finger would be yet her huge eyes darted around in an attempt to follow it.
Little was she aware, however, was that there was someone waiting in the shadows...someone familiar.
Chloe's eyes snapped open as she gasped, panting from the shock. She hardly noticed that her neck had snapped upwards as she sat down and stopped her preening session as she hurriedly glanced around for any sign of that kind human whom was in her memories.
Her eyes were filled with desperation and there was a huge frown formed on her beak as it hung open in disbelief. What had just happened, why did she have that memory!? Was this the Trickster's doing? Why did he show her that, to break her into pieces?
Sighing dejectedly, the now adsolent blonde macaw hung her head low.
Her heart shattered into millions of pieces as she felt despair consume her. The darkened walls of this maze didn't exactly help, making the atmosphere even heavier as it made her feel like her lungs were being crushed by the mere sadness she felt of having that memory of her birth, one of the only times she was actually happy.
She did try to be positive but that was tricky with a bird who had been held captive for awhile and for one who had a literal weak stomach. She smiled a bit when she thought of a little remedy to try and soothe her sadness and she hummed a little song as she stood up and walked forwards with a brave stride in each step she took.
Chloe felt herself become filled with joy as she strode through the darkness with confidence, a hint of it but it was still there, and she boldly cantered through the darkness with her head held high.
Yet her bravery seemed to dissipate more and more as her world became pitch black.
"Ummm..." She uttered, awkwardly "its a bit dark here."
She walked onwards and found that her world was growing darker and darker, making her become more and more afraid. Unsurprisingly and somewhat ironically, she had a fear of the dark that haunted her mind.
She squeaked fearfully, her head ducking between her shoulders when she timidly tried to conceal herself.
It wasn't until she reached deep enough into the walls of this maze when...
"AGGGGGH! Dark, dark, dark, dark, dark, dark, dark!"
She flapped about, squeezing her eyes shut and flapping her wings frightfully in an attempt to fly away. But she could only manage a slight levitation with her current bounds to this stupid maze, this utterly stupid maze!
In her frenzy, she failed to notice that a small light had lit up the area.
When she finally saw it, she stopped flapping and looked around in pure wonder. Her cloak flapped in some fresh breeze that probably came from the outside world. She glanced over towards her wing and smiled gratefully at a familiar face.
"Oh! It's only you!"
It was in fact an adult blue macaw who had saved her world from the darkness as he held a lantern in one of his talons, holding it by the handle. He had dark blue feathers, his eyes were a deep brown colouration and he looked kind of like the Arnold Schwartsnager of the bird kingdom. He even had a chest that stayed permanently puffed out to make him look strong.
He strongly resembled a certain other blue macaw...
Smiling and giving a gesture to say "follow me", Azerian and Chloe walked deeper into the maze with a strong stride in their steps.
Azerian led the blonde macaw towards where he found a certain other bird all alone. The maze was by now pitch black and, other than the lantern Azerian carried, the only light source was a little fire that had been lit and crackled through the air so it could light the other bird's face.
Jasmine lain next to the fire, keeping herself warm, and she smiled happily upon seeing the other female macaw.
"Chloe, you're alright!" Jasmine hurriedly got up to her talons and basically tackled the purple-wearing blonde macaw to the ground out of pure happiness that she was no longer alone here. She had been alone for awhile after being locked in the maze but she was confused by Trickster's words earlier, despite that however she was happy and safe.
She helped the startled fellow macaw up to her feet and led her over towards the warmth of the fire where she nestled up to and closed her eyes in deep bliss.
Azerian smiled warmly upon seeing the sight and he proceeded to walk of. He turned his back to the two female Adsolent's and went to retrieve the others as he informed them "You girls stay here, I will find the boys."
Jasmine's head perked up. Their hero was leaving them!? They didn't exactly now much about him...not even his name!
Before he vanished completely under the cover of darkness, Jasmine called out "Wait! What's you're name?"
The older adult male macaw turned around to glance at the female macaw. She did seem like a very curious child, even in these circumstances. Taking in a deep breath, the male said through a strong and low voice:
"You may call me Azerian." And with that, he disappeared into the darkness of the maze...like a shadow fading into the obscure moonlight night.
A/N: :O...! Yes, I was planning this!
I warned you all in my last Rio story: I was going to out Blu's father in this! :D
I'm sorry if it was short, I was a bit busy for awhile so please forgive me. I have also been going through some problems so...yeah.
I tried to make there some more character to my OC whilst trying to also add a bit of humor, I don't want this ALL to be all gloomy! I even updated my fanfic profile and my avatar image which I hope you like.
Now time for the replies!
Criexis the purple macaw: I agree with you, I didn't think Rio 2 was as strong as the first film and I thought it could have been better. I was wanting to see a Jewel childhood flashback but we didn't see it, we were just left in vagueness! :( Nice character intro, btw. :)
Ricardo the Black hawk: Thanks for that, Rico, your kind as well. :)
Arlene the Scarlet Macaw: I expect they will tag along with Blu and Jewel when they get to Rio. Also great job on your story!
Asassins creed master: Yes, I also wish that Mimi had a stronger role. The film profile is a lie since it says that there's a scene about Mimi and Eddie on the official website but that was, oh so clearly, a lie. ):(
Rapper the red macaw: Thanks, I'm glad your liking this so far. :)
Anyways that's it for now, please make sure to review everyone. :D
