"Hey Marshall" Fionna said excitedly as he drifted by her window. He nodded in her direction with a casual flip of his hair. He hummed and fidgeted with his guitar before finally sighing and floating into Fionna's tree house. "Why are you here, sugar?" Cake demanded. "I'm finished with this song, got bored, and now I'm waiting for Fionna to come hangout with me." "And why do you think I'll go?" Fionna asked. "I know you're going to end up saying yes to me again, so let's just go" he replied. Fionna just huffed in annoyance before ungraciously accepting the hand Marshall offered out to her. "Honey, you're going to go with that rude-" Cake started but Marshall just replied confidently "She was going to come, no matter what." He transformed into his beast form and then they were flying in the air, towards an empty field. He transformed back to normal, and lay down in the grass, pulling Fionna beside him. "So are you excited for Prince Gumwad's going away party?" he said sarcastically. "Why are you even going if you hate him so much?" Fionna asked defensively. "We have our differences but we've known each other forever…." She waited but he refused to elaborate so she asked, "So what do you want to do?" "Just lay and talk with me for a bit" Marshall asked quietly. So that's what they did, until it was almost time for the party and he dropped her back off at the tree house. "Was that Marshall Lee horrible to you, girl?" Cake asked, looking up at Fionna's flushed face. "Nah, I had a good time. He can actually be…sweet." She said, and then walked away to go change, leaving Cake confused and worried.

When Fionna walked in the first person she saw was, of course, Marshall Lee. "Wow Fionna, you actually look…nice" he said surprised. "Geez thanks Marshall" she replied, rolling her eyes. She had actually put on a dress for the occasion, and she had taken off her hat so her hair flowed down her shoulders. She pushed past him and marched over to Prince Gumball. He was talking to Fire Prince, and the conversation looked…heated. She shook her head and smiled internally at the pun. "Why did you even come if you just wanted to pick a fight?" Prince Gumball demanded angrily. "It wasn't for you, trust me" Fire Prince replied, while glancing over at Fionna. He smirked at her and walked away. "That was intense, what was it about?" she asked but he just looked away, embarrassed. "Oookay…" she said, as Marshall Lee floated on stage and began his song.

"It's been a while, and I've been in a self-made exile. I hope this makes up for the things I've done, if it does, don't say goodbye just yet, because goodbye means going away, just wait till the sunset. This is a going away song and I hope you understand, Prince Gumball's leaving and it seems so wrong. We'll miss you and more, till you show up again, at our doors"

As the song came to a close, he drifted down to Fionna while nodding towards Prince Gumball and then pushing him out of the way. He just smiled and walked away, deciding not to argue with the arrogant vampire tonight.

"Oh glob, that was pretty sappy" Fionna teased. Marshall Lee laughed, "Maybe I'll add in some rap about how nothing is as it appears, in the Nightosphere." He hissed with his fangs out. Fionna shoved his shoulder and laughed, "It really is good though, ya know." He looked away and then asked in a low voice, "Wanna dance?" She nodded and took his hand as he led her out onto the dance floor. They swayed back and forth and Marshall laughed at her horrible dancing skills. "You do look incredibly beautiful tonight, I wasn't kidding" he whispered in her ear. She shivered as they continued to dance. Fionna had a weird feeling in her stomach, she had no idea why she was feeling strange, but she decided not to worry about it tonight. She still had a little while to sort out her feelings. She smiled at herself as they continued to dance…
