The waves caved and crashed against the cliff. It was a battle one that had been going on for eons and would continue for another. If you looked up from the sounds of the waves, you could see a figure on top of the cliff, looking down at the rage below.

Max was mesmerised by the waves attack and retreat. It was something that reminded her of something else entirely. But of what she wasn't quite sure. It was then she noticed a tall shadow come over her. She didn't look round, instead staring below. She knew who it was.

"All you have to do Max, is jump."

"I know." Max replied, her response was quite, unsure nothing like her usual self. "I should've, but I just can't."

A hand rested on her shoulder, squeezing. "It's okay to be afraid of what happens next."

Max eyes scrunched up and she blew out air in frustration. "That's it, I'm not. I'm not scared. I am- I don't what it is. It's like I've got something to do. Something important, but I can't for the life of me figure out why!"

"They said you were destined to save the world Max."

"Maybe I was? I don't for the life of me know," Max grinded her teeth together in frustration. "It is going to be a while."

"We can wait."

We can wait.

The words echoed in Max's head so many times that she actually woke up. Only to hear another voice ringing in her ears demanding her attention.

"Max, wake up! Class has ended."

Hermione Granger looked down disapprovingly at Max's disveled form where she had been using The Great Goblin Wars of 1483 as a make shift pillow. Max looked up at the front of the class only just to see the last wisp of Professor Binn's form as he floated through his blackboard. Max often wondered where the ghost went after his classes. Visiting the gloomy underground of Hogwarts or the crystal clean beaches of Australia?- could be anything.

"I see you are using your time here as the same as Ron," Hermione said crispy, placing the last of her books in her bag. Her words were answered with the plain snore as Ron Weasley slept soundly on his own desk.

Max gave a yawn, before getting to her feet. "At least I am not using this time to complete homework from other classes."

Hermione went pink in the cheeks. "I only do it when I already know the content of the lesson."

Max tried very hard to hide the smirk spreading across her features. Her failure meant she had to turn round and put her books in her bag, just too somehow hide it. Luckily Hermione didn't seem to notice.

"Why not come and join us in the Great Hall for dinner?" Hermione said, suddenly out of the blue. "You can just sit- not even talk."

Things had settled down between her, Hermione and Ron. The two didn't actively seek her out, but conversation had become less awkward and more relaxed. And yet, something still held Max back, and it wasn't entirely because of a certain Boy-Who-Lived.

Max's eyes wondered from Hermione and Ron noting the lack of Harry Potter.

Hermione picked up on Max's question. "Harry's got detention with Umbridge again," she said in a way which showed her displeasure at Harry's choices.

The back of Max's hand itched suddenly, even though the scab had long since healed over. "Not tonight," Max answered.

Hermione visibly deflated, "That's alright I will see you around." She turned abruptly heading towards Ron's snoring form; most likely to wake him.

Max took that as her cue to leave disappearing into the long, wide hallways of Hogwarts.

So far History of Magic had proving to be the worse subject of the lot, and Max had felt her brain cells decaying listening to Binns drone on in his monotone voice. Of course, Defence Against the Dark Arts was a close second. Umbridge-much like Binns- couldn't make any subject sound remotely interesting. Her high pitched, squeaky voice demeaning her words. But at least Umbridge actually paid attention to the students, instead of merely pretending they were as transparent as a ghost. Maybe that was how Binns coped.

"Max!" A voice shouted from across the corridor, making Max wish she could spread her wings and fly out of here. But Max had learned early on that running away from Ginny Weasley was a death sentence.

The small, fiery witch was unlike her brothers. Half as tall, but with a personality that seemed to be bigger than all her brothers' combined, made her volatile and trustworthy. It was funny really, for it seemed people overlooked little Ginny, making her out to be something that resembled a mouse- small and timid. Ginny would be the first to say otherwise, which made it even more hilarious in Max's opinion.

The reason why Max was being stalked by this red-head, half way to dinner, was something that all started with Luna Lovegood.

After the fiasco with the freaky, winged horse, Luna had taking Madame Pomphrey's words to heart and made it her ultimate mission to be with Max every step of the day. Which is of course is impossible. People can't be with someone every second of the day, so she had enlisted the help of Ginny Weasley. It was a surprise to Max seeing Ginny, seeing as their last encounter was a lot to be desired.

Max was pretty sure that Ginny was just doing it for the gags, but then here she was beside Max, slightly red in the face, her bag slung over her shoulder.

"Get a good sleep?" Ginny said, grinning from ear to ear, puffing slightly from her run from Herbology

Max had also learnt that saying nothing was worse than running away. "Yeah," she mumbled.

"I always do too," Ginny said.

They walked several paces in a silence that Max wished would go on a just a bit longer.

"Y'know," Ginny started, "America sounds like a nice place for a holiday."

Max wasn't going to fall for the bait- she wasn't.

"Luna says the weather is usually pretty nice, and the people are very friendly. But then anything it better than the drizzle we get here."

She wasn't

"She went with her Dad you see, looking for the Veltrittle."

She really wasn't.

"But then Luna always makes things look better than they are. Her gift I think."

She really, really wasn't

"She once showed me an American cockroach. It looked much uglier than ours. Apparently Muggles don't realise that cockroaches are magical, and spend a lot of time wondering why they just don't die."

Wasn't. She wasn't.

"These things can live through several different curses. I've heard rumours that even the killing curse doesn't affect them."

"It's not worth the trip," Max said.

"You lived there," Ginny pointed out.

"Yeah and now I am here." Yeah without the cages, the absent father, the loss of family-

Ginny looked right at Max, a strange expression on her face.

"What?"

"Luna was right. You are running away from something."

Max bristled, her feathers ruffling. "If I am or not is none of your concern." She put as much viciousness into her glare and narrowed her eyes in a way that had Erasers taking a step back.

Ginny was no Eraser, and as such took a step forward instead. "It is funny y'know." Ginny said, standing almost toe to toe.

"It is, is it?" Max grinded back.

"Yeah, how similar we are." Ginny said, finally breaking the staring match and looking to the side, gazing at the nearest dusty armour.

Max snorted.

Ginny gave a dry laugh. "Yeah," she said, "I did something awful, you see." She sighed, rubbing her temple. "I put my trust in someone, y'know, someone who was nice and caring, who always knew the right thing to say. But that was all a fabrication. They weren't really like that and people almost died because of my stupidity. I believed someone when I couldn't even see their face."

"Oh like online dating." Max quipped.

"What?"

"Nothing important."

"Anyway, it weighed heavily on me and I thought that no one could understand. Like you."

Max instantly bristled at those words.

"You might be surprised what people can understand Max." Ginny adjusted her bag and started walking again. "Think about it."

She left Max staring at the floor, her mind elsewhere.

She is right

"Shut up."

It was slow ten minutes to the Headmasters office. Max's mind was swirling with thoughts and feeling, as she tried to understand the things around her. She hardly noticed the Gargoly moving to the side and the staircase behind it falling into place. She instead walked up those stairs without knowing.

It irked Max how much Ginny's words affected her. It shouldn't really, she was Maximum Ride and silly things such as what other people thoughts of her shouldn't have anyway of upsetting her. She had dealt with the White Coats' animalistic views of her- hell even her own Father thought the same. A small trivia thing as this is nothing in the scheme of things.

And yet, you still struggle.

Max gritted her teeth she wasn't in the mood for the Voice's remarks. Well, at any moment really.

"Max, you are early, how delightful."

"Dumbledore," Max greeted stiffly.

"I see Professor Mc Gonagall managed to inform you of my message." Dumbledore smiled, from where he stood over his desk, looking over the rim of his moon shaped glasses.

"Yeah, yeah," Max waved away, plunking herself on the chair opposite his desk. Her feet crossed on the desk. "What was it you wanted?"

Dumbledore's face changed his eyes no longer smiling, his frown serious. "We have found your brother."

Max gripped the chair. "I thought Voldeshorts was keeping him hidden."

"We believe that he has decided the move his cards to the surface."

"This early?" Max frowned. "You told me he laid low for years before even started sending people to the open the first time."

"He did," Dumbeldore nodded. "But we fear he is using Ari through a different infiltration. I understand that Ari is the closest a person can be to becoming a werewolf without the bite?"

"Yes," Max said slowly. She did not like the idea of where this was going.

"From what we have gathered so far, from our intel is that something big is being planned in the Werewolf circles. Greyback for example has been spotted causing…disturbances in those communities. He also has been accompanied by a strange werewolf. We believe that some of their initial recruitment strategies isn't working and so they are resorting to bigger ways to gain more allies."

"We already know all this. You sent Remus to do his own recruiting." Max frowned.

"We recently lost contact with Remus," Dumbledore said quietly. "His last message alerted us to Ari presences in the area, but we fear he may have tried in some of the…more rougher areas."

"He's been captured got it," Max said, sarcastically. "You sending anyone?"

"Yes you."

"Me? You realise that Ari will know I am there the moment I walk in. He knows my appearance and my scent." Max said shocked.

"You will not be going alone Tonks will be joining you."

"Yeah sure, great, she can change her appearance- great disguise. Me not so much."

Dumbledore smiled weakly. "There are not just werewolves in these communities. There are hundreds of other magical beings who find it hard to coexist in wizard communities."

"So a few goblins as well. You're gonna need more than that." Max said crisply.

Dumbledore paused, looking Max straight in the eye. "I do believe you are the best when it comes to escapes. You're record is already impressive and that is the only ones we know about. Frankly we need someone with quick thinking in such situations, someone who can get out with six other people, someone that knows cages."

"You make it sound like you want us to be captured."

Dumbledore's eyes twinkled and Max gulped.

"That is precisely what I want.

Can it be that there is an update? Well there is one.

Sadly it isn't as long as I want it to be. I had everything wiped from my computer and also the backup didn't work. So that is all my notes and everything I have already written gone. It took me awhile to get everything back to almost what it was. And anyway you guys waited long enough.

So people if you have a backup make sure it works and backups data- like- don't be me.

Thanks to all those reading this, you got some persistence in you. Every time I get a review or fav or follow I write. So yep, keep being great humans.
