Lots of one shots lately, I've been having a lot of ideas. :) Thank you for all your reviews on the others!
"Lin?"
"Hm?"
"Have you ever wanted something… so bad, you feel like you would give anything to have it, to be able to obtain your goal?" Elphaba looked up thoughtfully from her studies and up to the blond who was putting makeup on, classes were over for the day, so Oz knows why.
"Yes." Glinda began and Elphaba smiled. "A pair of shoes I saw in the window of Ileana's Boutique up in Pertha, but then Daddy went to go get them for me." She said, starting to apply lipstick.
"That's not what I meant." Elphaba deadpanned, casting an annoyed glare at Galinda who missed it because she was too busy looking at herself in the mirror.
"Oh, okay then. But I really like those shoes; in fact I'm wearing them now." Galinda looked down to admire her shoes but then felt Elphaba's burning gaze on her back. "What did you mean?"
Elphaba thought for a moment, deciding how to word it so she'd understand.
"I meant what I said… 'Have you ever wanted something… so bad, you feel like you would give anything to have it, to be able to obtain your goal?' For me it's to be accepted, and to really excel at something. I want to make a difference for the better in Oz. Sometimes it seems like the times are too dark and dangerous- don't even get me started on the Animals. Working with the Wizard would really give me opportunities to do this… I'm just scared I'm going to fail. But I know, I can feel it. I'm going to make a difference, people will remember me."
Galinda giggled. "Elphie, people remember you when they first see you, but I don't doubt you'll make a difference, I just know it too." The blonde danced over to Elphaba's bed and plopped down on it, sitting cross legged.
That raised a new question for Elphaba.
"Galinda, would you like me if I were… normal?" She said quietly, Galinda almost missed it but didn't only because she saw her mouth moving. She thought about an appropriate answer.
"Elphie, what are you talking about? You are normal." And with that Galinda gave her a bear hug, if that was possible for her size. Elphaba visibly stiffened, eyes widening at the sudden show of affection. A smile crept onto her lips.
"Thanks, Lin."
