A/N: Hello again everyone! I know this is a little late, but better late than never right? :)
I'd like to give a huge thank you to ms. simmons, winterschild11, annabellex2, Logan (Guest), EagleAce11, and loganschmidt for reviewing last chapter!
I know there were mixed feelings over last chapter, but I hope you all still read and enjoy the rest of the story!
James' Choice (Part II)
I let out a sigh as I threw myself down onto my bed.
It had been a couple hours since Logan had gotten the text from James. I wasn't sure what the couple was up to, but I had a feeling that I didn't really want to know.
Carlos had left not to long after I had asked him for a moment alone. Something seemed a little off about him, like there was something he wasn't telling me, but I wasn't really in the mood to find out what he was hiding.
"Hey big bro." Katie said as she walked into my room.
"Katie, how many times have I told you to knock before coming into my room?" I asked softly, not taking my eyes off the ceiling.
"I don't know. I lost count sometime after a hundred." She said playfully. "Anyways, there's someone here to see you."
"No offense, but I'm not really in the mood to see anyone right now." I said gently.
"Well I'm positive you want to see this person." She said cryptically, making me look at her in confusion as she walked out.
A few seconds later, James walked in, my eyes widening in surprise.
"J-James?" I questioned.
"Hey Ken." He said softly, looking a little nervous as he shoved his hands into his pockets.
"What are you doing here? I figured you would be with Logan." I said, watching as confusion clouded his features.
"Why would I be with Logan?" He asked, although I could tell from the look on his face that he had an idea of what I was getting at.
"I, uh… kinda know that you texted Logan and asked him to meet you so that you two could talk." I explained, not missing the way his eyes widened slightly. "I figured that since you texted Logan first, that meant that you chose him."
"Kendall…" He sighed as he made his way over to the bed, motioning for me to scoot over. "I asked Logan to meet up with me to tell him that… that I was choosing you."
"Are… are you serious?" I asked hesitantly. "Seriously, if you're messing with me I swear-"
"I'm not messing with you." He chuckled softly. "The only reason I wanted to talk with Logan first was because I figured it would be harder to talk to him than it would be to talk to you. And I was right." He said with a sigh.
"Talking things out with him was probably one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. But I had to let him know exactly why I chose you so that he didn't get the wrong idea." He continued.
"And… why exactly did you choose me?" I asked as a thoughtful look clouded his features, with him choosing his words carefully before he spoke again.
"You've been there for me through everything Kendall. When my parents got a divorce, you were the first one there by my side, and you never left until you were sure I was okay. When Logan and I got together, you were the first one to congratulate us. And every time Logan and I had a fight or hit a rough patch, you were always the one to help us and encourage us to work things out. Even in spite of your feelings for me." He explained, shocking me a little since I wasn't sure if he had remembered all of that.
"You've always been there for me. And even when I was with Logan, there was always this connection between you and me that I couldn't really explain. And I want to explore that, explore us. I want to give us a chance." He said as he took my hand in his. "I just feel like I'll regret it if I don't. I don't want to spend my life wondering what would've happened if I had given you a chance."
"Jay, I… I don't even know what to say…" I said honestly, watching as a smile formed on the brunet's face.
"Just tell me that you'll give us a chance." He said to which I nodded.
"I'll give us a chance." I said softly, not even bothering to fight the smile that tugged at my lips.
"Good." He said before growing serious. "I'm not making any promises. I don't know how things are going to work out between us, but I'm willing to try if you are."
I immediately nodded my head, knowing that I wanted nothing more than a chance. It was what I wanted all along.
"Alright, there are a few conditions."
"Anything." I replied immediately, making him chuckle a little.
"Well the first condition is, I want to take things slow between us. I don't want to rush into it and end up ruining everything." He said, to which I nodded in understanding.
"The second is, I want to keep the PDA to a minimum around Logan. Just for a little while. I want to give him a little time to get used to us before he has to see us together all the time."
"Agreed. What's the third thing?" I said, knowing that if I was in Logan's position, I probably wouldn't want to see us all lovey-dovey right away.
"The third thing is, no matter what happens, I want you to promise that it won't affect our friendship." He said, making me inwardly chuckle a little since I knew this would be one of his conditions.
"I promise. We'll always be best friends first. We all will." I assured him, watching as he let out a sigh of relief. "So… I guess this is it." I said.
"Yep." He said, a smile forming on his face. "Kendall Knight, would you like to go out with me tomorrow?" He asked, making me chuckle.
"I'd love to."
Done! So yeah, James chose Kendall! Sorry that this chapter was a little on the short side, but I hope you all still enjoyed it! There will be two more chapters. The next one is kind of the aftermath and then an epilogue of sorts.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on this chapter as well as if you had a favorite part!
For all of the Japan fans reading this, I know you all were hoping for Jagan, but I'm making it up to you all with a full Jagan story! I won't give too much away, but it should be up in about a month. I also have an idea for another Kames story so we'll see how that turns out.
Next chapter will be up next week so until then!
