Chapter Eighteen: At Last
Here we are in Heaven, for you are mine at last ~ Etta James
Logan and I spent the rest of the night making love, falling to sleep just when the sun peeked over the horizon. Lucky for us, it was a weekend and there were no pressing issues to deal with until the following Monday.
When I woke up close to noon, I was relieved to feel Logan's heavy body behind mine, his hand holding my hip. The part of me that was still afraid that I would wake up alone again eased away. The tension I felt upon waking released its hold on me and I wiggled into Logan's body. He groaned and his hold on my hip tightened as he woke. I felt a lingering kiss on the back of my neck and I smiled.
"Good morning," I greeted happily.
"Morning," Logan said as his hands began wandering.
"It is closer to noon than morning," I giggled. That earned me a nip on my shoulder.
"Doesn't matter," Logan said gruffly.
"We should at least go down to eat," I said as I felt my stomach grumble.
"After," Logan said as he kneaded my breast.
"Okay," I said.
Ro and I stayed in her bedroom for another two hours before we really needed to leave. Disappointed that we wouldn't be spending the entire weekend in her bed. She insisted on separate showers and a fresh change of clothes. She told me would have to head down to the main kitchen because she hadn't had time to go shopping for groceries. So, I went down to my room for a quick shower. We met up in the kitchen and I couldn't resist giving her a passionate kiss in front of a few of her students.
"Hello," Storm greeted them cheerfully.
They all nodded in shock and I couldn't help but chuckle.
Storm and I quickly ate and by the time we were finished, the whole school seemed to have known that we were together.
Later that day, the X-Men were gathered in the lower levels for some training in the Danger Room. I was kind of sore from last night and this morning. Logan said he had plenty of energy to burn and insisted on a training session to burn some of it off.
The team did poorly, all seemed preoccupied. After two mission fails, Logan called it quits. The scenario ended and the imagery faded away to an empty room with metal walls.
"That was shit," Logan said gruffly. He turned to Bobby, Piotr, Marie, and Kitty. "You did better before training."
He looked to Betsy, Alison, Hank, Sean, and Forge.
"You're all acting like you've never been trained at all."
Alison and Sean shrugged. Hank bared his teeth. Betsy's grip on her sword tightened. Forge frowned and approached Logan.
"We weren't expecting a training session today," he said.
Logan let out a snort before responding.
"Not an excuse," he scoffed. "What would have happened if the mansion were under attack or we had to fly somewhere to rescue some mutant? Lives hang on whether we're ready or not."
He had a point and everyone knew it. They all looked away guiltily.
"Well, it's not just the training," Marie spoke up quietly.
Logan said nothing. He only stared her down.
"You and Storm," Marie spoke with more confidence.
"What about us?" Logan challenged.
"Just wondering if you two are a thing or something," Marie said her southern accent more pronounced.
I chuckled then. So, that's why the team was giving a shitty performance. They were all thinking about what Ro and I were doing behind closed doors.
Forge's body tensed as he waited for an answer and I intended for One-Eye 2.0 to sweat it out, But Ro had other plans.
She came closer to me and linked her arm in mine.
"We are together," she said proudly. She placed a kiss on my bicep before unlinking our arms and standing tall. Her expression went from playful and affectionate to serious. "If anyone of you have a problem, then I would suggest you keep it to yourself."
Her tone was stern and left no breach of argument.
"I for one, am happy for you," Pete said in a light Russian accent.
"Me too," Kitty said as she brushed her hand against his.
"Should have seen it coming," Popsicle said.
"Dammit," Dazzler sighed. "I guess Banshee won the bet."
"You bet on us?" Storm asked with a raised brow.
"Of course we did," Psylocke said. "Now we owe him a round of drinks at the local pub."
Banshee smiled triumphantly.
"I have a sixth sense when it comes to matters of the heart," he said proudly.
Psylocke glared at him and Dazzler rolled her eyes.
Marie embraced me tightly. She made sure none of her skin was touching mine.
"You break her heart again and I'll put you in a coma you'll never wake up from," she threatened.
"Understood," I said. Believing she would harm me in such a way my healing factor wouldn't matter.
Marie let me go and smiled brightly before announcing that she was done and left the room.
Bobby, Sean, Betsy, Alison, Kitty, and Piotr left the room. I smiled a warm smile as I watched them leave. My smile disappeared as soon as the Danger Room's doors shut and left Hank, Forge, Logan, and myself alone. The tension had grown thick within the few seconds after the others had left.
"So," Hank said breaking the deep silence. "I take it that you two have come to an understanding and that this is more than I few turns in bed?"
I glared at Hank. Since Scott's death, he had become close to being like a big brother than my potential lover.
"Yes," I said.
"Damn right," Logan said. "I'm not going anywhere and Ro is stuck with me."
"I will take you at your word," Hank said. "But if anything were to happen, I will make you suffer in ways you can only imagine before Rogue gets to you."
I frowned slightly in confusion before guessing that when she hugged Logan, Marie had threatened Logan and Hank had heard.
Logan stood straight and accepted Hank's threat.
"Gotcha," he said.
"With that, I wish you the best of luck," Hank said and he left the room.
I was damn proud of how Marie and Blue stuck up for Storm. They really cared about her and her happiness. Now if I could only say the same about the Douchebag that remained.
"You truly chose him over me," he asked staring directly at Storm.
"I do," Ro answered.
"I really didn't stand a chance, did I?" Forge asked.
"For a brief moment in time, you did," Ro said honestly.
"I guess we missed each other again," Forge said with a shrug. He sighed. "There probably won't be another."
"Probably."
"Good," Forge said before leaning and kissing Storm on the cheek. "I hope you'll be happy for the rest of your days."
"Thank you," Storm said and watched as he left the room.
I sighed and turned to her.
"Well," I said. "I guess it's official."
"Yes, you are all mine," Storm said with a mischievous look in her eye.
"Damn straight," I chuckled before taking her in my arms and kissing her.
