A/N: Thanks to everyone who read and reviewed the previous chapter. I hope you'll like this final chapter just as much.

Disclaimer: I only own Miranda Norton and Mr. Davinski

After what seemed like an eternity, the last day of school had finally arrived. Miranda would be free from this group of strange and unique children. Sure, she loved them and would probably miss them, but most of the time, they nearly drove her to the brink of insanity.

The children were lined up at the door of the classroom. Miranda would be leading them to the gymnasium where the awards ceremony for grades one through five would begin in a short amount of time. The pre schoolers and kindergarteners never attended these ceremonies because theirs were held in each of their classrooms where each and every child was given an award. Not every first through fifth grader would be lucky to receive an award. This was sometimes hurtful for some of the children.

"Miss Norton," said Ashley.

"Yes Ashley," Miranda responded back to her student. "what do you need?"

"Are all gonna get an award at this ceremony," Ashley asked, hopeful.

"I wish it could be that way," said Miranda. There was an apologetic look on her face. "but the superintendent of the school only allows each teacher to choose five students from each classroom to win an award."

"That doesn't seem very fair," said Grant. "People's feelings are gonna be hurt if they don't get an award." His mouth turned into a frown. Whether he was getting an award or not, he still felt sad about the whole thing. The other children agreed with him.

"I agree with you. It's sad to even think about that," said Miranda. "but when we get back to the classroom, there's going to be a very special surprise for all of you."

"What kind of surprise," asked Elle. She and the rest of the class were eager to know what their teacher had for them.

"I can't tell you. If I told you, then it wouldn't be a surprise anymore."

They made their way into the already packed gymnasium and took a seat on the bottom row of bleachers. It was pretty loud and hectic when they arrived. Some of the first graders were frightened by all this. Soon, everything started to quiet down when a middle aged brunette haired and suit wearing man approached the podium in the middle of the gymnasium.

"Good afternoon," he announced with a friendly wave and smile. "I know a lot of you, especially you," his gaze fell upon the first graders and he waved his arm towards them. "may not know who I am. So let me introduce myself," he cleared his throat. "I'm Mr. Davinski. I'm the superintendent of this school," he was now looking at everyone in the gymnasium. "I'd like to welcome you all here. And with that being said, let's get the awards ceremony started. We'll start with the first graders first. Miss Norton, the floor is all yours," he stepped aside as everyone applauded.

Miranda stepped up to the podium and waited for the applause to die down. Her first grade students were on the feet, jumping and cheering for her. A few of them were screaming, "That's my teacher!" or "I know her!" Although this was a little embarrassing for her, she couldn't help but smile as she motioned for her students to sit back down. When all was calm, she began her speech.

"Thank you all for that very warm welcome," she let out a small laugh. "Before I start handing out awards, I just want to say that it's been a tremendous joy and honor to have been able to teach an extraordinary group of students. Now I say extraordinary because these children are nothing like any other group of first graders I've taught in the past five years. And I mean that in a good way," she smiled at her students to let them know just how proud she was of them. "There was never a dull or boring moment with them. I'm going to miss having them in my classroom after they all go home today and I don't know if I'll ever have another group of first graders who were unique as they were," she paused for a moment. "I wish I could give each of my students an award during this ceremony, but I know that isn't possible. So after doing some heavy thinking these past few nights, I've finally made my decision. When I call your name, please approach the podium. First we'll start with the perfect attendance award. That award goes to Beth Clemmons."

Everyone applauded as Beth happily skipped up to the podium and was handed her award. It was a small trophy that had her named engraved on it. She was instructed to stay there.

"Next is the most academically improved award," Miranda continued. "Now this was a very tough decision to make because each of my students had improved since the first day of school, but there was one that really stood out and that is, Spencer Reid."

Spencer was applauded as he approached the podium and was also handed a trophy with his name engraved on it. He smiled as he stood next to Beth.

"Our third award is for most creative," said Miranda. "and this award goes to Emily Prentiss."

Like her other two classmates, Emily was also applauded. She high fived the two of them as she got her trophy. She proudly stood next to Spencer.

"The fourth award is for most helpful," said Miranda "this award goes to Penelope Garcia."

Penelope happily skipped up to the podium and received a trophy as everyone applauded for her. She stood next to Emily.

"And finally our last award is for zero disciplines," said Miranda. "and that goes to Kevin Lynch."

Kevin approached the podium and received a trophy while everyone applauded for him. He proudly stood next to Penelope. The five students held up their trophies and smiled while a photographer took their picture. They then made their way back to where the rest of their class were seated. Their classmates were admiring their trophies and amazingly, no one seemed jealous. Maybe it was because Miranda had a surprise waiting for them when they got back to the classroom.

"Congratulations," Maeve said to her five classmates.

"Thanks," the five of them said in unison.

The rest of the ceremony lasted for nearly an hour and thirty minutes. By the time it was over, the first graders were looking sluggish and tired. Elle had actually fallen asleep on Haley's shoulder. Haley jostled her awake when it was time to go back to the classroom. The first graders were glad that the awards ceremony was finally over. To them, it seemed like it had lasted for an entire day.

Upon arriving back to their classroom, Miranda instructed her students to sit down at their desks and wait for the surprise. They did as they were told and she went back to the reading area where she had hidden the surprise on the bookshelf. The children were pleasantly surprised to see that it was a box of chocolates for each of them. She had also given them each a twenty dollar gift card to the local ice cream parlor.

"Thank you, Miss Norton," the children said in unison. They were already digging into their boxes of chocolate.

"You're very welcome," Miranda smiled at her students. It was hard to believe that in less than one hour, she would be saying goodbye to them. She was already starting to miss them, even if they did sometimes nearly drive her to the brink of insanity.

As if reading her mind, Spencer placed a small card on her desk, "I know your gonna say you won't be needing this, but just in case you do lose your mind after we leave, you'll know who to call," he said before turning and walking back to his desk.

Miranda couldn't help but smile to herself when she realized that Spencer had given her a card to the nearest insane asylum. She knew she would do just fine when the children were gone, but as a keepsake, she placed the card into her pocketbook. Maybe next year she'll have a group of students were as equally or even more awkward and unique as these children were.

The end.

"Children make your life important." ~Erma Bombeck

I was running out of ideas for this story, so I figured I would just end it now. I'm not sure if this is what I had originally planned for the final chapter. If I had something else planned for it, then I don't remember what it was. Anyway, I just want to thank you all for sticking with this story. So one last time, could you please leave me some reviews? I'd really appreciate it. And there will be a "Second Grade" story. When it'll be posted, I'm not sure. My guess is probably sometime next year. I hope you'll all stay for that one too.
