Disclaimer: I don't own Beast wars, unless Hasbro would be kind enough to give it to me?
A/N this one's just a shortie that I had in my head for many weeks, but I wrote it out at 1.am, which means that I was yelled at to go to bed and stop typing.
In any case, reviews keep me writing, so please R&R (any similarity to the opening cinematic in Brood war is purely coincidental, I know just realised how alike it was myself a few moments ago)
I growled deep in my throat.
"What do you mean we're not going to help?"
The Captain was sitting at his station drumming his fingers on the console, I
had sensors.
"You heard me."
I glanced back at the external camera footage; hundreds of Preds were being gunned down. It was a slaughter.
I growled again, "Those are our men down there."
"That's a nasty habit you've got, only primitives growl. You
a primitive?"
"Our troops are being slaughtered, why won't you do anything?"
"They're expendable."
"Slag it Captain, where is your honour??"
"That's right, I forgot; you still believe in the honour code, don't you?"
"The Honour Code is there for a reason."
"Don't you get it yet? That outdated code was only written
to please the Maximals. Who's going to throw their life away, when we can life
indefinitely?"
"You're wrong. The Honour Code was written for a reason. How can you call
yourself a Predacon if you don't follow our teachings?"
"Tread very carefully ensign, remember who you're talking to or you can go die down on the surface."
I shot another glance back at the screen, and then out the view port; we were in a low orbit just above the surface.
"Damn it. Charge weapons."
"Belay that order weapons. Ensign, you are relieved of your post."
I growled again, "Captain, for Primus' sake, at least recall those troops who made it to the drop ships."
"I thought I made it quite clear that they are expendable."
"Captain, listen to reason. Those are our men down there. Do
you really want that on your conscious?"
"We can hunt Maximals another day. Helmsman, take us up. We've seen enough."
"Jawohl Herr Kapitän."
I turned back to the view port as the captain withdrew into his quarters. A few moments later orchestral music could be heard.
The Honour Code wasn't dead; I would refuse to believe that. I would take my beliefs to the pit with me before I followed in the footsteps of so many other Preds who had turned to a life of treachery.
Growling, I returned to my quarters.
