This was it. No amount of preparation would ever be enough and Delphine's heart was palpitating. In less than 10 minutes she would walk through those doors and she would marry the love of her life. Cosima. At the thought of her, Delphine ran her hand over her lips. She felt the ghost of a kiss Cosima had left last night with the quickest of goodbyes.

See you tomorrow

Tease, she'd thought. Despite everything that had transpired between them, the air around them had always been electrifying. Cosima looked at her and a fire within her stirred, she touched her and it ignited, and when Cosima's lips melted into hers, the fire roared and Delphine was alive. And she got to feel the burn for the rest of her life. Delphine felt electric, every bone in her body hummed at the thought that Cosima would soon be hers. Forever.

She still remembers Cosima's speech in the study.

"Delphine there's something I need to say." Delphine's eyes had snapped to Cosima, in fear of what was to come.

"I guarantee that we'll have tough times. I guarantee that at some point one or both of us will want to get out." And Delphine had frowned at that. Things had been tensed between them, ever since Leekie and her betrayal had been found out. But they had patched things up and they had grown from that. Surely Cosima wouldn't leave when things were just starting to get better. She had looked down at her lap, and Cosima's finger had reached out tenderly to lift up her chin. She'd seen nothing but love in her eyes.

"But I also guarantee" Cosima had inhaled deeply "that if I don't ask you to be mine, I'll regret it for the rest of my life" And Delphine had exhaled out a sob of relief.

"Because I know in my heart " Cosima's voice had cracked " that you're the only one for me. So Delphine, I love you. I love you so much it is killing me. And I want it to keep killing me for the rest of my life. So will you please, marry me?"

The knock at her door startled her out of her thought.

"Yes?"

The door opened and Sarah's head popped in

"They're ready for you. I mean she's uh… well she's ready for you." Sarah hesitated then stepped into the room and closed the door behind her.

"Listen here French frog, Cosima loves you and I love Cosima, albeit not in the same way." Sarah's face scrunched up at that. "You break her heart and I break your face, are we clear?" Sarah spoke with assertiveness.

"Sarah, I love her." Delphine shrugged in resignation. "That's all you need to know."

"Then lets go get you married."

Delphine smiled and stood up. Her dressed ruffled as she walked through the doors and suddenly there was music. And she was walking, one foot in front of the other. She thinks she heard everyone stand up, but all she saw was Cosima turning around to face her. Cosima's face broke out into a grin and Delphine thought she'd die a happy girl if she could live her entire life looking at that smile. Because Cosima was beautiful and she was there. For her. To marry her. To honor and protect. Delphine swooned.

She came to a stop, and Cosima's hand reached out for hers. There was no pulling back, she stepped forward and interlaced their fingers, and she was home. Their eyes locked and everything froze. In that moment they were one.

Delphine thinks that she heard the minister speak about love and commitment and compassion.

She thinks she heard the minister ask her if Cosima took her as her wife.

She thinks Cosima said I do.

She thinks the minister asked her if she would take Cosima as her wife.

She thinks she said I do, but her eyes never let Cosima's. Because Delphine did a lot of thinking and theorizing, but she knew the moment the minister pronounced them wives that she was going to spend her entire life loving Cosima.

And they sealed the deal with a kiss.
