Ryan let out a groan irritably upon the dead weight of the woman he had to drag out of the club. If it was up to him, he would've left the inebriated Shaul back inside, all thanks to her own backfired plan.
It didn't take a genius to figure out that she was putting something in Ryan's drink, mainly due to the fact that there were remnants of what Ryan claimed to be pills still on the verge of dissolving in that drink.
He managed to switch their drinks while she was looking around, probably checking whether someone had witnessed her act earlier. And all led to her catching up to her own bait, leaving her clueless.
If being high wasn't enough, Shaul had also slurred out one or two things that made Ryan to have even more reasons to despise her. After her failed attempt at drugging him and what she revealed accidentally, he wouldn't let her go that easy. Not until she had a bit of a taste of her own medicine.
He managed to drag her out and the first thing that crossed his mind was that he would leave her around a couple of drunken douchebags, as they were the perfect fit for someone like Shaul. But as he was about to search for the likely candidates, someone knocked him over with a push that send Shaul to the cold ground of the street.
"Let go of her!", a woman's voice shouting angrily filled Ryan's ears and he didn't even need to look at her to know who she was.
Ryan turned to AJ, who had a furious expression on her face. And dare he say, he swore he could also see a glimpse of jealousy plastered all over her face.
To see her husband giving her a smirk instead of a panicked expression for being caught, she squinted narrowly at him, her finger pointing to the drunken woman rambling up words on the floor.
"What have you done to her?", she demanded an answer.
He snorted, raising both of his hands in the air as a sign of detachment, "Me? You should've asked her instead!", he paused before continuing, "She was planning to drug me earlier. She put something in my drink"
"And you expected me to believe that?", she put a hand on her hip, her lips were already protruding like a duck's mouth.
"This shit happens, little wife. Just watch 'White Chicks' and then you'll know!", he retorted, looking at her with eyes bulged in defense.
Their bickering continued that both didn't seem to take notice the fact that Shaul was still lying on the floor, now drunk-crawling back to the club like a legless zombie.
"Ugh! It's useless to bicker with someone like you! Where's the car key? I'm taking the car with me while you can go ahead and continue having your fun time with her", she yelled angrily while her hands wildly searching her husband's body for the key.
Once she found what she was searching for in his left jeans pocket, she left the scene, but not before giving her husband one last disappointed and hurtful glare.
Sighing in frustration, Ryan threw his hands up in the air as he watched his wife crossing the street to get to the car. Then, he quickly decided to chase her and just left Shaul hanging.
"AJ! AJ!", he called up to her, only to see her quickened her pace.
But luckily due to the extra weight she was currently carrying inside her belly, he managed to catch up on her. He grabbed the key from her and she looked at him in disbelief.
"You have the heart to leave her out there?", her eyes averted from him to the drunk woman across the street.
He scoffed, "Trust me, she loves that. She'll get attention in no time. All the rumours you heard about her weren't baseless, you know?"
AJ could only roll her eyes at him, still sceptical of his statement. She had heard about Shaul; bad stuff about her. But she found it hard to believe that when the woman's mother was probably the most humble and kindest person she ever encountered and worked with. She must had taught her daughter better than anyone else.
While she was thinking, she didn't even realise Ryan was already in the driver's seat.
"Let me drive. I don't want a raging pregnant woman to drive me home. Who knows if she planned to drive off a cliff because of her growing jealousy!", he playfully explained from the rolled down window, sending a wink in her direction.
Tired of what happened in this series of events, from what happened last night until this very night, she just ignored the urge to fight him back and just went to the front passenger door and got in. She turned her body to her right, almost mimicking what she did a few hours ago when they were on their way home from Celeste's home but the reason was similar; to ignore her husband and feed off to her sulkiness.
Ryan began to drive away from the area. He knew AJ would thought they were heading home but earlier in the club after hearing Shaul blurting out something that had to do with his release, he decided to get away from this place for a couple of days. He needed to go somewhere to clear up his mind and at the same time, he would use this escape to spend more time with his wife.
He did wrongs to her for the past few days and even years, leaving her confused and hurt with a lot of things. So he thought this would be the time he was going to let everything out. His stories. His feelings. The truth. One thing for sure, after this, there would be no more secrets left between them.
Miss me, guys? So, any 'welcome back' for me? Sorry for leaving you guys hanging with my stories, but I'm back now! Next chapter will be up next week!
