Chapter 12 – Kakarot vs. Shula

Kakarot looked on at the next match up curiously. It was Jackie Chun – who was Master Roshi in disguise – up against the gorgeous female demon, Melee. If he was being honest, this was the only match that he couldn't predict the result. By all accounts, Roshi should have the advantage in terms of power and skill but the old man had a major weakness that Melee could easily exploit. The Saiyan wondered how long it would take for her to realise this, if she didn't already know.

When the fight started, it was clear that Melee wasn't aware of Jackie Chun's weakness as she immediately unleashed a barrage of punches and kicks at the elderly fighter but they were calmly dodged.

"The old man is as skilled as ever." Kakarot grinned, observing the fight with interest, "He may have even improved a little, if that's possible."

"He is reading her movements with ease," a deep voice coolly interrupted his thoughts, and the Saiyan turned to see Shula watching the fight, with a frown on his face and his arms folded across his chest. "This man is a true martial arts master."

Kakarot didn't respond, as he knew that the demon lord was correct. Roshi might not be as strong or a fast as the like of Tien, Yamcha and Krillin but his experience and technique easily made up for the gap in their powers. It especially helped in a tournament since you could win without overpowering your opponent.

The Saiyan continued to watch the fight with interest, and Melee kept on the offensive with Jackie Chun dodging and blocking her blows. The female demon managed to get in some hits whenever Jackie became distracted by her curves.

"So this is the reigning champion," Tien smirked cockily, "He has some real skill but he has a glaring weakness."

"Oh, well done!" Kakarot said sarcastically, "You've discovered his obvious weakness. Can you point out any more obvious facts? Would you like to point out how hot she is next?"

Shula smirked when Tien glared up at the Saiyan. Unfortunately for Melee, it wasn't looking good for her. Melee was a skilled fighter but her main skill was using her swords and kunai and then there was her second glaring weakness. Melee wasn't the type of girl that would use her figure and sex appeal to win a fight. She had too much pride in her fighting skills to do that.

Jackie Chun ducked under the demon's sweeping kick and he jumped back to gain some distance. This woman had some decent strength and speed but her technique was sloppy. Still, Jackie wasn't stupid, he was quite aware of his weakness and this hot demon could exploit it easily. He needed to end this quickly.

The elderly fighter ripped off his jumper revealing his scrawny body, and some of the people in the audience, particularly Bulma and Launch, flinched at the sight of it. In an instant, Jackie's muscles bulged and Kakarot's eyes widened at the familiar sight. It wasn't quite the same form that he had used back at Fire Mountain but it would be more effective in a one on one fight. Suddenly the old man's body wasn't hard to look at.

This time, Jackie went on the offensive and the female demon struggled to keep up with Jackie's assault. At first she managed to dodge the attacks more than block, but after a couple of minutes of relentless attacks, Melee couldn't keep up the pace. All she could do was block his attacks but each time she did, she flinched from the pain. Eventually she hit the breaking point when one of Jackie's punches broke her forearm and Jackie finished the match off with a hard kick to her stomach. The blow sent the female demon out of the ring.

"That was anti-climatic." Kakarot commented dully, "I thought I would get a more entertaining show."

The image of Melee pulling down her top, revealing her breasts before a stunned Jackie Chun popped up in the Saiyan's mind and Melee followed up with a hard kick to Jackie's groin followed by punching him out of the ring. The Saiyan quickly shook his head, ridding himself of such thoughts. He was becoming a pervert. It was a scenario that couldn't happen anyway. Hitting the groin was strictly forbidden and stripping down naked wasn't allowed either otherwise Ranfan would have stripped down beyond her underwear in order to win once Nam had revealed that he could counter her tactic.

"Melee isn't suited to fighting tournament style battles," Shula smirked, unconcerned that one of his subordinates lost convincingly. "She is the guardian of the demon world and a killer."

The next fight was another matchup between the crane school and turtle school and Chiaotzu and Krillin entered the ring.

The small bald warrior from the turtle school had a determined frown on his face as he stared down his mime looking opponent. He wasn't going to lose this. He had trained hard the last three years and he had learned some important techniques that would help him win this tournament.

"It's finally time for the third match and have we got another treat for you all! Krillin is another student of the Turtle Hermit school and Chiaotzu is a student of Crane Hermit school! Rivals schools battling again! Will the Crane prevail again?! Or will the Turtle find redemption for their previous loss?! Let this match begin!" the announcer called out.

There was a clear difference in power between the two pint size warriors, Kakarot noted unsurprised. Chiaotzu didn't have the look of a warrior, he was even smaller than Krillin and that was saying something. It was clear by the way that Chiaotzu glided across the ring that the mime looking warrior could fly but despite his rather impressive speed for someone that small, Krillin was able to block every one of Chiaotzu's punches and kicks.

Tien's eyes widened Krillin vanished in a very remarkable burst of speed and for a moment he lost sight of Krillin but he was just able to spot him at the last moment. "Chiaotzu, on your left!"

Chiaotzu didn't have the chance to counter before he was smashed in his side and Krillin followed up with a sweeping low kick and the mime looking warrior quickly flew into the air.

"Is that supposed to save you?" Krillin snapped, appearing behind a shocked Chiaotzu and he kicked him in that back, sending Chiaotzu into the ring. However the student of the crane school stopped in mid air just before he landed on the cement floor. Krillin hovered high above the ring and he waited for Chiaotzu's next move.

Chiaotzu looked up at Krillin and he pointed his right index finger up at the young turtle hermit student, the finger crackling with yellow energy for a moment. "Dodon Ray!" the yellow blast of energy burst out his finger straight at Krillin.

Krillin's eyes widened and he quickly dodged the attack. "That was unexpected." Krillin muttered, shocked by the attack. He didn't have much time to think about that attack as Chiaotzu was immediately about to fire another blast at him.

"Dodon Ray?" Kakarot muttered in confusion, watching the fight with interest. He was leaning on top of the wall that separated the ring and the contestants watching. Shula was leaning against the wall of the building that the contestants waited, Tien was looking through the gap in the wall and Jackie Chun was standing a few feet behind Tien, also concentrating on the fight. Tien had used that same technique against Yamcha, but the Saiyan knew he had heard and seen that technique before but he couldn't quite remember where. "I've seen that technique sometime before..." His eyes widened when he finally remembered, "That's right! That's the technique that Mercenary Tao used!"

That caught Tien's attention and he hurriedly approached the Saiyan, "What did you just say? How do you know Tao?!" the three eyed warrior demanded to know.

"What's it to you?" Kakarot asked indifferently, not taking his eyes off the fight. Krillin was dodging the continuous energy blasts fired by Chiaotzu.

"Answer me!" Tien snapped impatiently.

Kakarot sighed and he jumped off the wall, landing a few feet in front of Tien. He looked up at the three eyed warrior, with a bored look, "Mercenary Tao, the assassin that the Red Ribbon Army had hired to kill me... and the man that I killed."

"What?!" Tien stepped back with wide eyes, shock plastered on his face. "There is no way that a brat like you could defeat, let alone kill, Tao!"

Kakarot gave the warrior a cocky smirk, "Shows what you know. I crushed him with ease!"

Tien gained a sorrowful look, "He was a good man," he murmured softly.

The Saiyan scoffed mockingly, "There was nothing good about him. He was an assassin that took the lives of people for money and then he had the audacity to beg for his life when it became clear that he was outclassed. He got what he deserved!"

"How dare you?!" Tien growled, clenching his fists tightly and Kakarot stared back at him defiantly. The three eyed warrior resist the urge to attack the boy right then and there and he stormed off, intending to inform his master about the death of his brother.

"Kakarot, did you really kill Mercenary Tao?" Jackie asked the Saiyan cautiously, after over hearing them.

"Yes, why is that so shocking?" Kakarot answered, starting to get annoyed.

"I don't think you understand the significance of what you have done." Jackie replied worriedly.

"What are you talking about?"

"Mercenary Tao was Master Shen's brother." The elderly master informed him.

Kakarot shrugged unconcerned, "I don't care. If you're right then that means that the crane school will want to get revenge on me... which means that's more fun for me." He jumped back onto the wall, uninterested in the conversation anymore, eagerly wanting to get back to the fight.

Krillin had just appeared behind a startled Chiaotzu, cupping a ball of blue energy in his hands. Krillin hit Chiaotzu in the back with a full powered Kamehameha wave and Chiaotzu was sent out of the ring and he was unconscious before he hit the grass.

From there positions in the crowd, Tien and Shen looked on in shock. The three eyed warrior had just finished telling his master about Tao's fate and Shen had just processed what Tien had told him. "No Chiaotzu!" the crane hermit roared furiously, "How could you disappoint me like this?!"

"Not bad, Krillin." The Saiyan smirked, "It looks like he has mastered the Kamehameha wave."

"Yes," Jackie agreed with wide eyes, "I can't believe that Yamcha and Krillin have both mastered a technique that took Master Roshi fifty years to perfect."

'You mean that it took you fifty years.' Kakarot rolled his eyes. Still, once he fought Shula and defeated him, he would fight Krillin once again. He couldn't help but smirk when he imagined the look on Krillin's face when he realised the difference in their power.

"Now that was exciting!" the blonde haired announcer called out after he declared Krillin the winner, "Let's get the final match of the first round started! Kakarot vs. Shula!"

The two remaining fighters from the top 8 entered the arena, both with determined looks on their faces. Each of the warriors knew that this would be the real championship match, both confident that they could easily defeat the other fighters in the tournament.

"I hope you have trained hard for this, boy." Shula informed the Saiyan coldly, "I will make you pay for the humiliation you caused me."

"I'm sure you're going to give it your best shot." Kakarot smirked at the demon, lowering into fighting stance. "Unfortunately for you... I'm far above the brat that challenged you back then!"

The demon didn't fire back a retort and instead, he started the match by shooting towards the Saiyan. Kakarot ducked under the karate shop aimed for his neck and he followed up with a harsh head butt into Shula's chin. The blow snapped Shula's head back harshly and he staggered back slightly. The Saiyan didn't hesitate to exploit the opening and he unleashed a barrage of punches into the demon's stomach and he finished up with a kick to the side of Shula's head. The blow sent him sailing out of the ring.

"That was impressive." Tien admitted, impressed by the Saiyan's speed.

"I've got no doubt in my mind. That boy really did defeat my brother." Shen admitted darkly, glaring at Kakarot hatefully.

Kakarot knew that he hadn't won the fight with just that attack and so he wasn't surprised when Shula stopped just before he hit the grass. He landed back on the ring, his arms folded across his chest and some blood descending from his lip. He didn't look angry by the assault, in fact, he looked amused.

"That's good." Shula smirked, wiping away the blood. "You have improved, this will be fun!" the demon quickly fired an energy blast at Kakarot, but it was easily parried away.

However that was Shula's intention as the moment he fired his attack, he followed its shadow and he kneed the Saiyan in the stomach. The demon lord then quickly slammed Kakarot into the floor before grabbing his tail and throwing him into the air. Shula quickly teleported into the sky above the airborne Saiyan and he clasped his hands together and he raised them above his head before bringing it down into Kakarot's back. The double fisted blow sent the Saiyan crashing into the ground painfully.

"This is going to be intense," Jackie murmured. "I honestly don't know if Kakarot is going to win this. Shula's attacks are brutal and quick."

Kakarot got back to his feet, holding his right forearm tightly for a moment. It was unfortunate but his forearm had taken most of the damage from the impact.

"Watch out, Kakarot!" yelled Jackie urgently.

The Saiyan looked up to see another energy blast heading straight towards him and he quickly jumped out of the way to avoid the attack. The blast detonated on impact and a shroud of dust covered Kakarot.

A smirk came to Kakarot's face and he gathered a ball of energy into his right hand. The moment that he sensed Shula appear to his left, he immediately spun around and slammed the energy ball into a shocked demon's face. Kakarot then slammed a double kick into Shula's stomach and the demon lord crashed painfully onto his back.

"How did you do that?" Shula growled, clutching his stomach. He had deliberately not appeared behind him because that would have been the most obvious move.

"I'm just that awesome." Kakarot gave him a cocky grin, not interested in revealing that he could sense power levels.

"I've had enough of this!" Shula snarled and he unleashed a familiar attack. Rings of energy began surrounding his right arm and the muscles around his arm were enhanced. He threw his fist forward and the rings of energy burst forward and they began to cover Kakarot's body. The power of the attack forced Kakarot to cross his arms over his head as the attack tried to crush him and he slowly skidded back.

"You're really using this attack again?" Kakarot said annoyed, this attack was easily accounted for. He prepared to use the same attack that he had intended to use last time before realising Shula's weakness to light.

"Don't think that this is the same!" Shula snarled and he adjusted his attack.

Kakarot's eyes widened when the rings suddenly wrapped around him and completely bound his body together. There were three rings around him, two wrapped around his upper torso and he couldn't move his tail or arms. Another ring was wrapped around his legs and he struggled to remain on his feet.

"How do you like that?" Shula grinned maliciously. "I think it's time to end this."

Bulma and the others could only look on from the crowd with wide eyes. Considering that Kakarot had taken out the entire Red Ribbon Army on his own, they couldn't believe the situation that he was in right now.

Shen growled, "It looks like we won't be able to avenge Tao ourselves."

"That's a shame but seeing this arrogant brat get humiliated will have to be punishment enough." Tien smirked at the sight.

Shen didn't answer but he had his own plans for Kakarot. He wasn't going to accept humiliation as payment for Tao's death. He would strangle that boy to death if he had to.

"Kakarot is in trouble!" Krillin said with wide eyes, "I could be facing this guy next!" he shouted horrified.

Shula glanced back to the entrance, overhearing the bald warrior and he chuckled sinisterly. "I have no interest in this tournament... I'm only here for one thing." With a flick of his wrist, Shula summoned his sword.

Kakarot's eyes widened at the familiar blade. How did he get that back?

"I'm here to kill you!"

Answering the Readers:

Q: Why didn't you have him crush Yamcha's knee like in the original?

A: In this fight, Tien won by knocking Yamcha out of the ring. He couldn't follow up by breaking Yamcha's leg since the moment that he landed on the grass the match was over. Unlike in canon when Yamcha landed knocked out on the ring. That meant that technically the match wasn't over since the announcer had yet to call to ten and so his attack was legal.

Q: Will she still be 18 or are you gonna make up a name for her?

A: When they meet, she will be 100% human and I will use the name Akira Toriyama has made canon. That means she will be called Lazuli.

Q: Exactly how guilty would he feel for killing him? Would he resent himself for being a Saiyan for not being able to control his great ape form?

A: Not really, no. I don't have much planned for Kakarot's feelings towards Gohan's death. Not even Goku spent much time thinking about his grandfather's death after realising the truth when fighting Vegeta.

C: Even if it's only temporary (given that the main pairing is 18/Kakarot) I'd like to request that you be brave enough to be the first author to ever pair Kakarot up with Melee.

R: *smirks*

Q: Will Lapis and Lazuli be Fighters before their capture?

A: Yep.

Q: Will Gohan's Mother be the Princess Goku slept with? Or will Gohan mother be melee?

A: Nope.

Q: Will Goku meet Lazuli briefly. Because if she was kidnapped he would turn upside down to find her. Unless he or she only briefly meet and only had a one night stands occasionally and nothing more.

A: It will be much more than a brief meeting and Kakarot will look hard for her when she goes missing but complications will arise.

Q: Will Kakarot show any new Ki Attacks and control?

A: He will show some new minor techniques.

Q: Does Kakarot know how to fly, fight and sense people a lot better and smoothly with all his training?

A: Yes, he trained a lot harder than anyone else for this tournament.

Q: Will Kakarot go to Kami Look Out and live there for a while to train and let Yamcha, Krillin, Tien and Chiaotzu know that training there with Kami and Mr. Popo gained him more Strength before King Piccolo appears?

A: Kakarot won't be training with Kami or Popo at all in this story. I'm not going to reveal what my future plans are concerning everyone's training.

Q: Will Kakarot sleep with Launch if he gets the chance?

And PLEASE tell me that Blonde Launch is gonna keep her idea of "Kakarot's skill in bed" to the next tournament.

A: No, they won't sleep together. Once Launch sees Tien, she will only be interested in him.

Q: Ever thought of Gohan being created as Experiment of Dr. Gero as a EARLY idea of creating Cell by Combine Human DNA of Android 18 with Kakarot Saiyan DNA, but also have Gohan to fight Kakarot because Dr. Gero wants people to see Kakarot as a Monster by killing his own offspring?

A: Interesting, but sorry, I don't have any plans for something like that. All I'll tell you is that Gero's plan is much more ambitious than then one in canon.

Q: Can you write a Goku & Bulma Lemon?

A: I will if I decide to pair them up for a short time, but it's still unlikely.
