"Something Lost Will Never Return"

Chapter Sixteen:

"With all of these evidences at hand, even the videos and bruises this boy, Kuroko Tetsuya possess, I subject the whole family of the Mamorus to be guilty!" The judge proclaimed and slammed his hands on the table before him.

"But, you didn't even let our side make our own testimonies and give our own—" Mayuki Hikaru, Riku Hikaru's wife, protested as she stood up and pointed their own lawyer. "This is so unfair—"

Shoujuro smirked, stood up for the Kuroko's behalf and presented all the pictures and documents he had as evidences. "The judge tested them, read between the lines and even inspected them as he walked here. These evidences and proofs would never lie. So, do you have any say to it?"

The three members of Hikaru family looked at one another before biting their bottom lips.

Shoujuro smirked and turned. "Just like what I thought. How about you?" He demanded to the other lawyer, who was sitting on a seat just meters away from Shinjiku Hikaru. "Do you have any say to this?"

The lawyer named Taio Iori shook his head and covered his face with his hands. "Damn, no! I have nothing to say anymore!" He shouted. "You're the best lawyer in Japan, heck, even in Asia, how the hell am I supposed to know what to answer back to you when you have all the proofs and will know what to answer to me next without even knowing the question I'll throw at you yet? I give up!"

"With that, my judgment and proclamation comes in! Riku Mayuki is sentenced to be imprisoned for thirty years for the crimes: Assault and Battery, Abuse, Theft, Sexual Assault for Haruhiko Keiji. All of your properties will be held by the Mayoru's CEO, Kaoru Mayoru. None of you will be given permission to get hold of his phone or any gadget once you're inside the prison. The family members will be constantly guarded to watch their actions. Any attempt they'll do to try break you out will give you more years to stay inside the prison."

After few more moments of explanation, expulsion and sentencing. The case was ended with Mayoru's side winning and Hikaru's losing.

His alarm almost made him deaf as it rang so loudly beside his right ear. He frowned before opening his eyes and faced the ever-white ceiling of his room. Kuroko yawned before searching for his red alarm clock that always sat beside his ear without his knowledge of how it walked from his bedside table to his bed. After taking hold of the loud thing, he quickly pressed 'off' and placed it back on its' original place.

He winced as he slowly sat up. "I feel sleepy…" He mumbled and rubbed his eyes.

Many hours have passed by since the court has sentenced everyone who had their family involved and almost killed them into a thirty-year imprisonment. It had been months, to be more specific.

"Tetsu?" Taiki Kuroko, his older brother, called out from outside his door. "You awake already?"

He blinked and turned towards the door. "Yes, Nii-san. What is it?" He replied and stood up. He winced again before approaching the mirror beside his closet.

Taiki chuckled. "Spring Break will end the day after tomorrow. You're soon to be a second year! You're soon to recover from your illness, come on! Have some fun!"

He blinked again before staring at himself through the mirror. "I just ended my third chemotherapy last week, Nii-san. At least let me rest."

There was a pause. "Seriously. Your friends miss you." He mumbled.

His eyes widened as he remained staring at himself. "I miss them too, but I don't want them to see me like this."

"They'll accept you whatever happens, Tetsuya." Kaede Kuroko, his mother, whispered as she twisted his room's door and slowly opened it.

He looked at the ground and clenched his fists on his sides. "Even if I look like this?"

"You just got thinner because of the chemotherapy, Tetsuya. You'll be back to normal after your sixth chemo." His father, Taito Kuroko, added as he appeared beside the other two.

About two months ago, his parents arrived back.

Two months ago, he decided to fight against his disease.

Two months ago, he started to take his chemotherapy to survive.

Two months ago, he shut himself in his own room.

Two months ago had passed since he last seen even just one of his friends.

"I miss them." He mumbled and opened his closet. "I miss my friends."

"Then, go out of this cage you've built." Kaede demanded, her voice cracking. "Tetsuya, come on. Don't make yourself suffer. Don't shut them out. Please live."

He picked a blue and black striped polo, a plain light red t-shirt to put wear underneath the polo, camouflage jeans and Nike Air Basketball shoes. "But…is it fine? I don't want to make them sad."

"Just tell us the truth already. You don't want their pity." Taiki pointed out. "You don't wanna feel deader than you already felt you are."

He bit his bottom lip and covered his face with his bangs. "You're right…You're actually right."

"Of course I'm right." Taiki retorted. "I've seen you grow up. I've seen every expression you give. I've seen you laugh and cry. I've been with you since you were born, Tetsuya…" He added before approaching him. "Please…please…don't give up yet."

He looked around and found the three crying and sobbing. They were trying to hide their tears away, but they couldn't. He didn't see pity in their eyes. He saw loneliness, emptiness, sadness. It was not because he possessed this disease but because they were missing the old him.

He fell on his knees and started to cry too. "Sorry…Really…Sorry…" He sobbed and held into them tight. "Sorry…"

"Oi, Akashi!" A familiar voice called out as he went out of his pick-up. He turned as the car drove away. And blinked upon seeing not only the members of the Generation of Miracles behind him, but the members of Seirin basketball club, Himuro, Takao and Kagami behind him. "What's up with this number of people? Are we some kind of gang to murder someone?"

Kagami shrugged. "I am actually surprised when Kuroko called me an hour ago and asked if we could…uh, go out to the Amusement Park."

Two months had passed since everything was settled.

Two months had passed since the Inter-Team tournament. They decided not to join since Kuroko wasn't going to show up.

Two months had passed since they all gathered together.

Two months had passed since Kuroko Tetsuya shut himself in his own house.

"Two months, huh." Aomine blurted out.

His eyes widened with his thoughts being outspoken like that and turned towards the others. "So you were counting the days too?"

Kise nodded. "We were. I've called their residence countless of times but Kuroko-kun always said Kurokocchi doesn't want to hear or see anyone among us yet."

"I miss Kuro-chin~" Murasakibara mumbled.

Without wasting another minute, he was about to press the doorbell when the front door of the Kuroko's residence opened and the said guy just went out of it. "Tetsuya?"

The teal-head blinked and raised his head. "Sei-kun." He greeted and ran towards the gate. He unlocked the lock and opened the gate. He looked out and blinked again upon seeing how many people had gathered outside their house. "Hello." He greeted.

Kaede, Taito and Taiki followed behind Kuroko and smiled at the sudden visitors. "Oh my, what a number." Kaede commented. "Then, I guess, you need to leave now, huh?" She whispered to her youngest.

Kuroko bowed. "I'll be going now."

Taito nodded and patted his son's head. "Be careful."

Taiki grinned. "Oi, take care of my brother or I'll skin you alive." He threatened.

Kaede giggled before kissing the teal-head's forehead. "I love, love, love, love you, Tetsuya."

He nodded and shut his eyes. "Always."

For an unknown reason, everyone who had witnessed this had looked away as their heart ached with the painful scene before them. They had no idea why it was painful. It was just so painful.

~LFMH021~

As their group separated into tinier groups, Kuroko and Akashi found it troublesome to even follow after any of the groups just said. They were everywhere. Literally.

Both felt embarrassed to even follow any of them for they were all acting like kids.

It was both funny and humiliating.

Aomine and Kise entered the Haunted House.

Midorima and Takao entered the arcade.

Himuro and Murasakibara entered the balloon room.

Kagami and the other Seirin members rode the roller coaster.

Wherever they would decided to go, they would be doomed at how idiotic they others.

"What a bunch of idiots." Akashi commented and settled down on a bench beside the Amusement Park's fountain.

"Ice cream?" Kuroko offered and handed him a cone of bubblegum ice cream he bought from nowhere.

The latter sat beside him as he began to eat his ice cream, himself.

"Bubblegum. So you still remember my favorite flavor, huh." He commented and glanced at the teal-head.

Kuroko nodded, emotionlessly. "It tastes great, after all."

Both became silent suddenly.

Aomine ran out of the Haunted House, screaming. Kise ran after him, laughing.

"What a bunch of idiots." Kuroko mumbled.

He turned, surprised, at his seatmate before chuckling. "Right?"

Kuroko turned, as well. "Right."

"Bunch of idiots." They both repeated and started laughing.

~LFMH021~

It felt as if they were at the top of the world with how little everything looked like below them.

Lights were all turned on, they varied in colors and shapes, so it looked like under them was a river of different colors. Just like a rainbow. Just like the sunset.

It could be compared with anything colorful.

He could even compare it with his former teammate's hair.

"It felt as if forever had passed since we've had time together like this." He murmured as he glanced at the teal-head before him.

"You mean in a ferris wheel?"

"No!" He gasped and sighed afterwards. "I mean, together together."

Kuroko blinked before smiling a little. "You're right. It did feel so long."

Silence enveloped them as they both stared outside the glass windows.

"Thank you, Sei-kun." Kuroko suddenly murmured before him.

He raised his head in surprise. "Thank you for what?"

"I don't know. Just for being there. Just for…being Akashi Seijuro." The other explained as he remained staring outside.

"I don't really get it." He honestly stated.

The phantom player smiled as he turned towards him. "That's alright. I don't understand it, myself."

~LFMH021~

As if they were drunk, everyone separated, said their goodbyes and went to their own ways. Leaving Akashi to send Kuroko home. The latter insisted that he didn't need to, but he protested that he would. Of course, he won, like always.

With hands holding each other, scarf wrapping them together, and silence letting them hear each other's heartbeats, it felt as if the long distance they walked was so short.

They arrived in front of the Kuroko residence in no time. Akashi almost wanted them to walk back to where they started and walk back here again. But they would definitely look like idiots if they did that.

"So…goodnight." He mumbled, obviously unused with this kind of situations.

"Goodnight to you too, Sei-kun." Kuroko replied as he stood in front of him.

He looked up and met the teal-head's eyes.

Why do they look so sad?

"I love you."

His eyes widened in the words that just left the phantom player's mouth. Uncharacteristically, his cheeks suddenly turned as crimson as his hair. "Stop giving me surprise attacks."

Kuroko chuckled, yes, he chuckled. "Sorry. I just felt as if I needed to say it."

He blinked before reaching for the teal-head. He pulled him closer against his chest and hugged him tight. "I love you too." He whispered and placed a little kiss on the crown of the phantom player's head. "Always." He started.

"Forever and beyond." Kuroko finished.

~LFMH021~

As he was preparing for the first day of school, his mobile phone suddenly rang.

He picked it up and pressed 'Answer' without even looking at the Caller ID. "Seijuuro Akashi speaking."

"T-This is Taiki Kuroko. C-Can you please come over?"

"What happened?" He whispered.

"T-Tetsuya…He wouldn't open the door even how many times we knock! He won't answer his phone. His window is also locked!"

"I'll be there." He whispered and murmured in a silent prayer, "Please, please…"

~LFMH021~

Panting, he arrived at Kuroko's residence and quickly printed off upstairs towards Kuroko's room. He found Kagami and Kuroko's family gathered outside the teal-head's room.

They all wore an anxious expression which made his heart beat faster. "Don't you have a spare key?"

Taiki shook his head. "I lost it."

What the…

"Damn this shit." He heard Kagami growl and kick open door. But failed. "OW!"

"Idiot." He sighed, grabbed the ax he found lying in the kitchen. He had no idea why. And quickly broke open the teal-head's room's door. "Tetsuya!" He shouted after boring a hole in the middle of the door and twisted open the doorknob to open it.

After successfully doing this, he looked around and found no phantom player in the room. "Where—" His eyes saw the small door in the corner and knocked on it. It was his own room's bathroom. "Tetsuya?"

He got no answer and once again, broke open the door. "Damn…" He mumbled and opened the door. "Tet—"

His eyes widened.

"W-What…?"

Before them was Kuroko, who sat on the toilet bowl. "W-What are you doing breaking in here?!" The teal-head gasped and threw a towel at Akashi's face.

"W-Why aren't you opening up or answering our calls?" Taiki demanded.

"I have been in here for hours! I think I ate too much at yesterday barbecue party…Wait…why?"

Kaede fell on her knees. "Well, as usual, our youngest is so unique I'm speechless."

"You have a fucking diarrhea?!" Kagami growled. "A DIARRHEA?! THIS IS ALL ABOUT A FUCKING DIARRHEA?!" He repeated and stormed out. "If I don't go out, I might kill him." He whispered at Akashi.

As the others fell on Kuroko's bed in relief, only Akashi courageously stayed with the teal-head. "A diarrhea…Great…" He murmured in exhaustion.

The teal-head confusedly looked up at him before shutting the door behind him. "Ah…Finally." He sighed and looked at his room's door with shock. "What…?"

"Don't even ask." The red-head mumbled and took out a pair of scissors. "Come here, Tetsuya. Let me cut your hair."

"But why?"

"For punishment."

"No! Sei-kun! No!" Kuroko shouted and ran out of his room. "What did I even do?"

"Come back here, Tetsuya!"

~LFMH021~

"I'll be going now, Sei-kun." Kuroko bade as he put on his shoes. "The kids are surely waiting for their teacher now, so I need to be early."

Akashi grabbed his cup of coffee and watched as the teal-head put on his shoes. "I have a new case to look at later and a shogi match tomorrow. Don't cook me dinner."

Kuroko looked over his shoulder. "Got that. Oh, I'll go to town later with Kagami-kun. Do you have anything you want me to buy?"

"Buy me some tofu. Make me some tofu soup tomorrow."

With a small smile, the teal-head nodded. "Alright."

Leaning over, he placed a small kiss at Kuroko's forehead. "Be careful."

'You too."

"Always." He started.

"Forever and beyond." Kuroko finished.

A/N: I was kinda in a hurry so it turned out like this.
