Chapter 19

"How many times do I have to kill you? How many times do I have to separate you two?", Kovarian was shaking with rage.

Her hair, usually perfectly done, was falling to one side, making her look even more ferocious. Amy was on the ground, trying to get up with the assistance of Rory. River was trembling. Newly restored with energy, she was a bit more emotional than normal. Gemini was clutching to her mother's arm, part in fear and part in trying to be brave for her mum. The Doctor stood alone, in front of them all, trying to keep a brave look on his face. Kovarian was supposed to be dead. It wasn't supposed to happen this way. He had his family. They were his. What more must he have to do? Kovarian was sweeping the gun across the group, making sure the barrel would point to all of them. Kovarian started to seethe through gritted teeth,"You know who's fault this all is?"

The gun then fell on River's chest. Kovarian smiled evilly,"You."

Within a split second, the shot was fired. The Doctor whirled around to try and get to River. But it was too late. Gemini had seen it coming. Pushing her mother to the ground, Gemini took the shot to her own chest, and fell back, stumbling to ground and sofa. The Doctor only stood there in utter shock, a harrowing feeling rushing over him. River crawled over to Gemini, who was barely conscious. It's always a horrible sight to see, a mother weeping over her nearly dead daughter. All of a sudden rage swept through his being. There was a reason he was called the oncoming storm. The Doctor ran after Kovarian, down the hall and up the stairs.

When he got up to the roof, he almost laughed, and nearly cried. There was Kovarian, on the edge of the roof, crying hysterically, with pure unadulterated fear in her eyes. The Doctor got closer to her, like he was insure of what to do and spoke softly, though it was dripping in hate,"Kovarian. What are you doing?"

Kovarian spoke shakily, through clenched jaws,"Killing myself before you kill me. I may have missed River, but I hit the other one. Now, I'm not going to give you the satisfaction of my demise."

With a curled smile, she hopped off, with the Doctor as always, trying to save another soul. The Doctor panted as he saw the body on the ground, and people crowding around it, looking for a possible murderer. Not wanting to be mistaken as the murderer, he cautiously stepped away from the balcony, and made his way down back to 'his' apartment. Amy, Rory and River were all crowded around Gemini,as she was breathing hard from the pain. The Doctor took one of her hands in his and spoke words of encouragement, as the regeneration slowly began to float around her. Gemini new what was about to come, she was frightened at the prospect of being a new person. Why couldn't she have inherited her parents' bravery? River began to choke out,"This is all my fault. If I hadn't left you, we could have raised you, and we wouldn't have dealt with the Silence like this, and you wouldn't have had a regeneration so early."

Gemini looked at her mum and dad. She saw the pain in their eyes. How much the hurt from the fact that they couldn't raise her. Gemini knew what she had to do. "Dad. Could I regenerate to any age I wish?"

The Doctor looked at her questioningly,"Yes, I suppose. If you concentrated hard enough. Why?"

With a strained smile, Gemini whispered,"Penny in the air."

It was then that Gemini sat up and concentrated on her next face. Young. That all she thought to process. She felt the whispers and warmth of the regeneration energy and the TARDIS in the distance. Soon the gun shot wound was healed, and she was whole. All too soon she felt herself became smaller. She couldn't remember how to form words in proper, normal English. Gemini suddenly felt very scared, as people who she once basically matched height with, suddenly towered over here though she knew she made this choice, and was comforted by the fact that she was making her parents happy in the long run. Slowly, the energy faded away, and she was swimming in a pool of her own clothing.

The Doctor, River, Amy and Rory were awestruck. There before them, was a two year old, laughing and babbling as if the whole thing was completely ridiculous, which to be honest, it really was. River picked up the new Gemini, and began to wrap her in the black sweater she previously wore. Gemini smiled, put her small pudgy hands of her mother's face, and gave a wet, opened mouthed kiss, giggling. The Doctor stuck out his finger to his new baby, who then grabbed her father's long finger and began to wave it about, yelling with joy. Gemini looked basically the same. Her hair was still a corkscrew mess of happiness, though her hair was now slightly redder. When caught in the light, her hair was ablaze. It was Rory, who finally cleared his throat,"So..uhm...we have..a baby..on the TARDIS now."

The Doctor smiled and said, "Our own littleTime Maiden."

So it came to pass that The Last Centurion, The Girl Who Waited, The Last of the Time Lords, The Lady of Time and their Time Maiden traveled all of time and space. When you look up into the heavens, the family in the box is somewhere out there saving worlds and civilizations.
