Oh hi guys!

I'm so sorry I've made you all wait this long, but hopefully it will be worth it! Here is my um, final (?) chapter of Things Change!

This just jumps right into where the last one left off.

Enjoy!

Disclaimer: I do not own anything Teen Titans related. Cartoon Network does. We good? Okay, let's read!

You KNOW why you came to me. What I did for you.

The girl had no sense of time.

No sense of where she was or what she was doing.

But that didn't stop her from trying to quiet the incessant voice shouting in her head and echoing all around her.

The metal-faced figure standing in the shadows of her mind.

You knew the payment. Your betrayal left your debt unpaid. You were foolish to think that I would let this go. That I would let you go.

"Stop! Please, I..."

She reached out for the wall just as her vision started to come back, but it was still very confusing for her to place just where she was.

As she was crying out, her voice broke into choking sobs, "I don't want this, I n-never did! Terra's gone! And she's never coming back, so you can j-just leave me alone!"

Stop fighting me, child. We are tied together, remember?

Starting to regain her senses, she first noticed she was holding eyes, though still blurry from the tears pooling up, started to regain sight.

Noticing the flashlight in one hand, she focused on what she was leaning on with the other. It was a rock.

Am I in a cave?

She also noticed that she was once more covered in the wrapping tape and metal amour.

Her eyesight was mostly back to full strength, and she used this opportunity to get a good grip on where she was. She shined her flashlight around until she noticed a very unnatural rock surface with a plaque.

Taking a few steps forward, she noticed the words, "Terra. A Teen Titan. A True Friend."

Is that...?

Your grave. A reminder that even the strongest cannot win.

Lowering her flashlight, she looked around into the dark abyss.

No matter how strong you were, you could never beat me. Not then. Not now!

The girl felt a weird pressure form from her chest, down her arms, to the tips of her fingers.

"Aaaarrrrgghhhaaaaa!"

Her flashlight dropped to the ground as her hands started to rise. She could see from what little light the flashlight was offering that rocks and boulders of all different shapes and sizes were rising around her.

"errrrggg how, could you - possibly be dooing thiss?!" she strained to say between gritted teeth, fighting back as hard as she could.

When you gave me control, it wasn't just over your physicality. But also your mentality. The main control center of your entire being.

"Grrrah!" She flung the rocks into the utter blackness in the distance, some rocks taking much longer to land than others.

She could feel sweat pouring down her neck, arms and legs.

She had never fought so hard in her life. Mostly because she'd never had to fight someone in her own head before.

You can't win!

I already have.

I'm still strong.

Your strength comes though me.

She could feel her legs start to give in as she dropped to her knees. Her hands holding her up before she could collapse all together.

I'm not your apprentice...

You belong to me.

I can still...

You can't. Stop fighting the inevitable, Terra. It's too late.

The girl groaned in agony.

...I'm too late.

Feeling the last of her will fade, she collapsed on the ground, exhausted. Breathing in and out even felt like a chore. Like she were inhaling a plastic bag.

How could I let this happen? There's nothing left for me.

Staring at the flashlight laying just a few feet in front of her, she reached for it. The only source of light in her dark world around her.

She held it closer to her, and watched the specs of dust passing through the light beams. Tilting her had, she shined it back onto the stoop of stone where she once was in a solid state.

Squinting her eyes, she read the words on the plaque, again:

Terra. A Teen Titan. A True Friend.

My friends made that for me. Starfire, Cyborg, Raven, Robin, and Beast Boy.

Another one of her flashbacks came rushing through her mind. This one was of Beast Boy, his face was clear in her mind, his voice and tone genuine as he said, "It's your life, Terra, your choice. It's never too late to change."

It's never too late.

Slowly lifting her head, she mumbled, "It's never too late."

Getting her body off the floor was chore, but she started to do just that.

She kept her eyes locked on the plaque, even as Slade was saying every possible thing that would make her back down under any other circumstance. Shouting and using all of his force against her muscles as he could, he was starting to fail.

And she knew that.

We know the burden you bear! You know the debt you still owe! Don't forget what you've done, what I made you! Who you really are!

She would have listened, she could have crumbled, but her memories with Beast Boy were becoming crystal clear as she started to lift herself off of the cold cave floor.

"You have to stop me beast boy! Please! I don't want to fight anymore!"

"Then don't let Slade control you anymore!" Beast Boy had retaliated.

"I can't. I have no choice."

Beast Boy looked at her straight in the eye and said solidly, "That's a lie! You've always had a choice!"

Coming out of the memory she bent down to pick up the flashlight.

"I've always had a choice!" she laughed loudly, almost astonished at the truthfulness in Beast Boy's words that day.

Enough! Apprentice, I order you to-

But she wasn't listening to him, she was listening to the old, yet still true words of Beast Boy,"It's your power, not his. You can still control it! You can still do the right thing!"

She stood up straight. Standing taller than she had felt in a long time as she said, "No Slade. You're done! You're done controlling me. You're done controlling my mind. You no longer have any power over me!"

The girl didn't know if the batteries in her flashlight had started to die out, but the light was starting to dim.

Until it became completely black.

She's wasn't sure if she was standing or sitting. But it's quiet. For the first time in her life, her mind is clear and open.

After a few moments, she see's a boulder up in the distance. Sitting on top of it, she crosses her legs, closes her eyes, and just breathes. Feeling almost overwhelmingly content and calm, if that's possible.

But she let's it all in.

In the distance, she can hear someone calling her name.

"Terra...Terra!" It sounds very far away, but she doesn't want to respond to it. She also hears some mumbling after a time, but nothing could break her from the calm and peaceful solitude where she was at this moment.

And why would she want to?

At one point she thought she heard the distant voice saying,"It's gonna be okay, Terra. You're safe now." She couldn't agree more with that statement.

She thought back to before she remembered everything. Even for those few months when she had no knowledge of her past, she never truly felt at ease.

As far as she was concerned, she's felt lost and confused since, well forever. Taking in this new found clarity was so incredibly exhilarating.

Learning to ignore the mumbling noises in the distance, she situates herself on the rock and relaxes. I can see why Raven likes to meditate, now. It's nice.

Solitude can only last so long, when she hears a beeping sound that eventually drives her crazy. And soon many beeping sounds and muffled voices that she just couldn't block out.

"She's gaining consciousness." the girl thought she heard

When the girl forced her eyes open to a squint, she finds herself on a bed, confused at the fact that she was now lying down instead of sitting up.

She was also confused why she had so many wires coming out of her body, and a rather awkward and uncomfortable tube that ran under her nose and into her nostrils.

She opened her eyes and found it difficult to see anything clearly, and forced herself to focus on one object. Once the doctor's clip board came into clear view she noticed that he was speaking to her.

"Hello miss, My name is Dr. Johansen. Everything is going to be fine. You're currently in an Intensive Care Unit. Can you tell us your name?"

He spoke so quietly and calmly. It was actually very pleasant. But why couldn't she speak?

My name? Terra...no! Um, Lisa?

After a minute of the doctor patiently waiting for the confused girl to sort out her thoughts, "Do you remember your name?"

A nurse with brown curly hair walked next to the doctor and spoke low, "We have contacted the family she's staying with, they should be here in about thirty minutes."

They both looked at the blonde in bed who had started to close her eyes in exhaustion.

"Alright, since she's regained consciousness we'll move her to a recovery room and let her rest." the doctor then turned and faced the girl, speaking in his pleasant tone again, "Okay sweetie, no more questions for now. We want you to rest up."

As soon as he'd said those words, she closed her eyes and felt practically knocked out. Leaving no room to think.

After what was only a few hours, though it felt like days, she woke up in a different room all by herself.

Sitting up, she took a deep breath in and out, happy to have the ease to breathe again. Leaning back slowly, she recounts the events that happened in the cave and smiles. Other than the slight surprise of waking up in an unfamiliar place, she felt pretty calm.

She was quite used to waking up in unfamiliar places at this point anyway.

The whole room was white and baby blue, with the sunlight of what must be dusk coming through the break in closed shades. The room was almost pink because of the sunset, it was quite beautiful actually, but the bright yellow object catches the corner of her eye.

On her bedside table lies a small vase of flowers and a little yellow compact the size of her palm with a giant white T on the front of it. She stares at it wide eyed for a moment before picking it up gingerly.

The girl holds the object carefully in both hands, like it could break at any moment.

"Beast Boy..." she exhales to herself with a slight smile forming on her face.

He must have found me somehow, and brought me here...

She wasn't sure of any details, but she was so relieved to feel that peace once again.

Just then she heard a knock at the door and saw nurse stick her head in the door. The young girl quickly slid the communicator under her blanket, and smiled at the nurse, "yes?"

"Oh good, you are up!" Said the nurse, cheerfully,"Your famil...er, you have visitors, miss. Are you feeling well enough?"

"Send them in!"said the girl with a smile on her face.

The nurse nodded, and before she could even turn to tell the visitor's in the hall, Jen came swiftly through the door.

"Lisa!" Jen stood at the foot of the bed and crossed her arms, she looked stupefied as she babbled, "Lisa, in all my years...see what happens you deliberately—why didn't you..." she tossed her hands in the air and dropped them at her side. "What am I going to do with you?"

Lisa just giggled, watching her friend while drinking her water through a straw. She'd missed Jen. She was glad she had someone like Jen in her life. Someone who cared and worried for her this way.

Eric then stepped through the door and put his hands on his sister's shoulders, "Hey! I think what Jen is trying to say is 'Yo, Lisa, I'm glad you're here safe!'"

Jen gave an annoyed look to her brother who was walking to the side of the bed. "Sure, something like that."

Lisa smiled at them both, "I can't even tell you guys how happy I am to see you." she peered toward the door, "Where are your parent's?"

Eric pulled up a chair to sit in next to her bed, "Talking to your doctor. Apparently all of your expenses were already taken care of by the, uh" just then he cocked an eyebrow, "individual who found you and brought you in." A small smile formed on his face.

Lisa's arm instinctively pressed the Titan communicator closer to her side under the blanket.

"So uh, how did you guys know I was in here?" Lisa asked, wanting to change the subject.

Eric then shot a glance at Jen who was casually leaning against a wall. "What?" Jen said defensively, "We didn't know where she was!"

Lisa looked at the boy next to her confused, "Jen went to some...well, extreme measures when we couldn't find you after school, and called the police."

Lisa looked up at Jen in disbelief, "You called the police?!"

Jen stood up straight and held up her arms in defense, "Hey, it's not my fault that bad things happen to you when you disappear. Which apparently," she gestures to Lisa in the hospital bed, "something bad did happen, so you should be thanking me that I filed a missing person's report. You're welcome!"

Lisa didn't want the police after her. They must have her photo up somewhere, titled as "Terra Markov: World's Most Wanted" or something melodramatic like that.

"But don't worry," Eric cut in when he saw how Lisa was starting to get stressed, "The police called off the search once the hospital received a patient with absolutely no information, who fit our description."

The blonde breathed a sigh of relief, and faced Eric, "So when can I get out of here?"

"With septic shock, hopefully not too much longer. The doctor says that you're healing rather quickly. You'll need to come in for a few therapy sessions, of course, but they won't be bad."

Lisa smiled, "Good. Because there's some things I need to get done."

Jen pushed herself from the wall, "I'll go ask the doctor, be right back."

Eric clasped his hands together and looked up at Lisa, "Some of the student's in the hall were talking about seeing Beast Boy in the hallway yesterday, the day you disappeared."

Lisa looked down at her cup about to talk, but Eric continued, "Just so you know, I fully expect you to tell me what happened to you later, but until then we'll need an alibi. To tell my folks, and the doctor's."

The girl smiled at Eric, "Well then Mr. Student Body President, I hope you come up with something good!"

Eric laughed, "If you want me to make up your story, then you should fully expect explosions and car chases! The whole enchilada!"

Lisa felt so good sitting here laughing with one of her closest friends. She felt safe, loved, and protected.

The only things she had ever truly wanted.

The sun was starting to set in the quiet city.

Lisa was talking another one of her evening walks by Titans Tower. It had been a few weeks since getting out of the hospital, and every day it was the same thing. Lisa would go through the city after school, walk down to the beach across from Titans Tower, and just sit there until sunset, then walked home.

While walking, she softly rolls rocks next to her feet. It relaxes her. She would do other things to test out her rediscovered geokinetic abilities. Doing little things like pulling rocks out of her shoes, dragged the sand in small waves back and forth, playing leap frog with small pebbles when she was bored during lunch.

This ability made her feel unique, which was refreshing after completely blending in these past few weeks.

Today's the day. I can feel it. I won't be a coward. You've got this, Lisa!

She wanted to use the communicator clutched in her hand more than anything to call Beast Boy. But she never could get herself to actually do it.

Sitting crisscrossed on the sand, she held the communicator on her lap, watching the sun set behind the tower. It was one of the most beautiful things she had ever seen in her life.

Sighing, she sat up straight, and felt defeated put the communicator in the front pocket of her bag.

"It doesn't have to be like this, you know." The old familiar voice startled her, and she quickly turned around.

She peered into a shadowed corner next to a nearby building, "Excuse me? I don't know what you're..."

Just then Robin took a step out of the shadows, holding up his hand to cut her off, "It's okay. I know who you are. I'm not exactly sure why, but I think I have a pretty good idea of what you're doing."

Lisa looked away from him and started to interject, "Again, I don't know who you're..."

Robin leans up against a light post, facing towards the sunset. Still keeping eye contact he nods his head towards Titan's Tower, "Beast Boy, he needs you. And from what I've been seeing, it looks like you might need him, too."

Just then the light above Robin flickered on as stars started to speckle the sky.

She looked at him confused, as he turned to face the bright city behind them.

"Protecting Jump City means I need to know everything that goes on around here. You know, bank robberies, any traffic down town-" he raised an eyebrow and looked at the girl beside him, "certain people staring at our tower around this time everyday..." he gave a sly grin.

She looked down at her hands embarrassed,

"I'm sorry. I never planned on coming here so often, it's just that," she paused, planning out her next words carefully and slowly.

Robin patiently waited.

He could see the struggle on her face as she was thinking through her next words. She spoke slowly, "At the end of the day, I can't think of any other place that I'd rather go, or-"

"Anyone one else that you'd rather be with?" Robin finished for her.

The girl looked over at him and noticed a small smile on his face as he looked up at the sky, "Yeah, exactly. You know what I'm talking about." she said more like a statement than a question.

He inhaled deeply, and nodded, "I understand what it's like. To feel like you have to do one thing but want to do another. You'll come across things in life that you can, and sometimes will need to let go of. Which is hard, but do-able."

He looked over at her, "I've found that there are certain things that you just can't let go of. Which isn't always bad." He looked up at Titans Tower which had now been lit up, and she followed his gaze.

"You should go talk to him. You could go up and-"

Lisa turned on him, her tone suddenly angry, "And what, Robin? Please tell me what I could possibly say to someone who I betrayed, lied to, and made promises, most of which I don't remember right now, but I'm certain I broke! So if you have any ideas on what my first words to Beast Boy would be, I would love to hear it! Because there is no way he could ever trust me again! No way he would ever want to be my friend again. I wouldn't even trust myself. Let alone want to see myself! Especially not after what I did to him."

After she took a moment to catch her breath, she expected Robin to say something, but he just stayed quiet.

She glanced over to see if he was still there, and saw him focused on her face. Just staring.

"...Okay, what?!"

"He did come to see you. More than once. He went looking for you, Terra."

After a moment, she broke eye contact with Robin and faced the water.

Her eyes were starting to pool up with moisture. She wasn't sure which emotion was stronger, happiness or sadness.

She turned her head further away from Robin and smeared a tear across her cheek.

"Where is he now?"

Robin shrugged, "Hard to say," he stood up straight and stretched his back, "he hasn't been...around much, these past few weeks." She looked over and noticed the slightly worried look on his face.

He placed his hands on his hips and turned to face the blonde girl still sitting on the ground.

"Look, I know it's none of my business, but I hope that whatever you decide to do, you choose it because it's something you truly want. Something that you will not regret down the road."

Lisa rested her head on her hands.

As far as she can remember, she had been making all of her decisions on the first whim. She had never really thought about the future outcome of her actions.

But that was Terra. And she knew she had to change.

I can't imagine hurting anymore people that I love for my own selfish gain.

A few moments had passed, then Lisa asked, "Hey Robin, how do you know what's right?" There was a pause.

"I mean, how do you know when the choice you make is the right one?"

She turned to look up at him, but the only thing behind her was the quiet city and the wind at her back. The Boy Wonder was gone.

Letting out a sigh, she tossed some grains of sand into the water, "Guess I'm on my own."

She stood up and swung her backpack over her shoulder, letting out a small laugh, "Things do change."

She starts to head back into the city when she stops and takes one last look at Titan's Tower.

Reaching her hand back to the front pocket, she pulled out the communicator.

"And then sometimes..."

Firmly pressing on the transmit button, she pulled it up to her mouth.

She took in a deep breath, and said, "Come in, Beast Boy."
